My Trane A/C just stopped on, of course, a Friday evening at 6:00pm. In August no less. I called Sun Devil A/C who installed my unit and in seconds they texted that a tech would be out early morning. I did let them know I had 2 A/C units so I would be fine until the morning. Frank showed up early, found that it was a fuse and had it running within 10 minutes. i been waiting to wright this review for a few years to give the owner the benefit of the doubt.This is about a heat kit that my unit electrically ready for cause my old heat pump had the heat kit.This is a 5 ton heat pump with no heat to keep me warm when the heat pump goes in defrost it is the best practice to install a defrost heat kit to provide heat for early morning when the unit goes in defrost.I mentioned it to the owner he said it would cost extra.Now if i would have known 7000 swap out price wouldn't cover it he would not have got a check until he would not have cushioned his profit margine by 100 when now i have a unit that blows cold air for 10 to 15 minutes.I didn't want to wright a review but soon after the installation he wouldn't return my calls so now that he doesn't use standard best practices i gave him what he wanted was a honest review read more

Communication with customers is crucial and if you say, you are going to do something do it. I have currently waited for an actual phone call back and invoice to fix my unit since they came out two days ago, and it's been radio silent, even though I have called twice for follow-up. This is after using them for several years and referring business to them numerous times. As long as it's a simple fix (cleaning, freon fill) they have been wonderful in the past but, anything major, I recommend going someplace else. read more

We were referred to them by our neighbor because our old AC man is retired. Our rental AC line was clogged. The tech unfortunately broke the dripping pan when he tried to pull out the pipe to clean it. The manger said that they will fix it for free and they did. The manger also waive the first time service call. We worked with some company before that they refuse to be responsible for the mistakes made by their employees but this company was not like that. Called in middle of June asking for a A/C checkup. I said there was no urgency but they were there by next day. They had part I needed, which was under warranty and they made repair within 24 hours of initial service call. Non warranty costs were reasonable to me. But unit failed later that day. An installation snafu it seems. I made emergency call next morning and they adjusted their existing scheduled work and sent a senior tech within hour. It's been a month so far and unit continues to run as good as ever. Kudos to Sun Devil for keeping decent staff in the pipeline for such difficult work environments. I plan to use them next time and woudn't hesitate to recommend to friends. read more

If you're currently shopping for a new air conditioner or your A/C breaks down unexpectedly I highly recommend Sun Devil Heating and Cooling. We were in the market for an A/C and had a few quotes already lined up but were hoping to wait until the winter to replace it. Then our AC completely stopped working in the middle of July. When we called our lowest bid A/C company they jacked the price up on us. That's when we called Sun Devil and the owner, Gerardo, answered. Gerardo was super responsive and understanding, he came out that morning and accessed our A/C, and said he would get back to me with a quote. We had decided we wanted a Trane unit but weren't sure if we wanted two-stage vs single-stage units and the differences between the old seer rating and the new seer2 rating system. He patiently and thoroughly explained the difference between our options and within the hour we had a quote for three A/C options. We settled on one and his crew was out the next morning installing our new AC. Our total downtime was almost less than a 24-hour period. All the while Gerardo was personally texting me with updates and schedule statuses, amazing! I seriously can't say enough about this company or the owner. Gerardo, you are the best! I have been using Sun Devil Heating and Cooling for over 5 years. However over the weekend received a bill for maintenance and had a question. I have two units one installed by SDHC (Trane) and the other by Costco (Lennox -- don't recommend!). SDHC has been doing the annual maintenance for both however on Friday it was cancelled because the tech "says" he did the maintenance one month ago when he did the Trane unit. I received a bill for the Lennox maintenance and had a question so I sent an email to the office. Thinking the email would get answered today but now at 3:30 no reponse so I call. JC who answers the phone was completely flustered by my questions and states the tech told her he called me on Saturday to answer questions. He did not. I told her the tech never went in attic so how could he "inspect" the evaporator coil? She became flustered and HUNG UP ON ME. I tried calling back and no answer. I then receive a call from the tech who came out saying "you asked to speak to a manager?" Which I did not. Lies! When employees are lying and hanging up on you, the customer, it's time to find a new HVAC servicer. read more

If I could give them a zero I would. After a battle over our installation, we were able to get a York representative to review our installation. I have posted the details of all the issues here on Yelp but it seems it was deleted. The owner of this company, the services provided, and the installation resources used were substandard and this was the conclusion of York's investigation. York decided the installation was so flawed they are replacing our unit for a poor quality installation. We have to pay labor to replace a unit that had a five year warranty. I was given this company's information by a friend. I reached out to Gerardo who came out, looked at what was needed (we had one bad unit, but replaced both), and provided a very competitive price. I made arrangements to have them do the work. In our current environment, one of the units was on back order (several companies advised same). Gerardo took it in stride, and kept me up to date until the day of install. The installers showed when expected, and made quick, and clean work of getting the new units installed. They went over everything with me, asked if I had questions, etc. They provided me the info on the units (books), hauled away all the trash, and cleaned up after themselves. I will tell you that Sun devil Heating and cooling is about one of the top companies in the the valley. I had my unit replaced 6 years ago and they still provide me with excellent service. Last week my Son's unit went completely out and I had him call Sun Devil Heating & cooling. They sent a Technician out that morning. It was determined that the condenser was leaking and needed replacement. My son made the decision to have the unit replaced. Gerado called my son and they worked out the details and the unit was replaced by 5pm that same day. The technicians were very well trained and knowledgeable. They called me next day and sent out a technician and he was really good. He didn't just take care of the problem. He serviced the whole system. And he was really nice and peasant while he did it. It doesn't change my first reviews key things, but it definetely shows that they provide customers with service after the install as well. I am very thankful for that. Previously posted when my unit didn't work: First of all, they are not open 7 to 6. Its 9 to 5. 2nd, when they sell the service they say they have 24/7 service. They don't. When you do call you get a message that won't allow you to leave a message. I didn't expect to spend $7,500 to have a 6 month old system not work. And, I certainly did not expect to find out that there is no one, not on facebook, twitter, answering machine, and I'm sure on yelp to help. I wish I could give them no stars. About four years ago they replaced one of our units they came out quickly. Got it done in the heat of summer. They told me they were going to send somebody to repair the trim to our attic never showed up. Honestly, I kind of forgot about it. Six months later I called them and said hey, you guys never sent anybody they sent somebody eventually. A few months later a brand new unit stopped cooling called them said we had a leak said they repaired it. A couple of years later we had some issues with our other unit they came out told me they would get back to me and never got back to me. I let it go because who need heat in phoenix. Fast forward to this year. The leak they said they repaired is leaking again so they charged me thousands of dollars to repair the leak that they should have fixed and then they also told me that nobody's going to help me until I pay a late bill that I didn't pay, come to find out when I called them about my heat and they said they would get back to me, but never did for years iota service fee even though they never billed me nor did they collected at the time the technician came out. We voiced how frustrated we have been having with this company but said if you just fix the leak once and for all, all will be forgiven, so thousands of dollars later they fix the leak for a second time and now 2 to 3 months later, my house is not cooling again seriously the worst I have ever dealt with the technicians are nice and friendly, but their work just doesn't last and the office is not responsive. They have cost me so much money at this point I don't even trust them to come out and look at the leak again I'm going with someone else who can be more honest and hopefully whose work is more reliable. I'm not usually one to cry. But with how much this company has cost me I've been in tears as a single mom. read more

Had the worst experience with this company. Called them to do a summer check-up. The technician came out while I was dealing with a family emergency. The office called me, and the appointment had totally spaced my mind. I told them that I currently wasn't home, but I was a few minutes away. I asked the lady on the phone if I needed to be home for the service or if I should reschedule. The lady told me it was up to the employee doing the service, but I headed home anyway. I made it home a few minutes later and assumed the employee chose not to perform the service. A few minutes later I received an invoice so I called the office. The lady gave me an attitude when I questioned the services and told me it would be on the invoice. I've been dealing with the company for years since they installed my ac unit, so I was expecting the same service. I looked at the invoice, and then I looked at my cameras around my property and didn't see some of the services performed that were listed on the invoice. I proceeded to call the office back, I was met with more attitude from the lady that answered the phone, then she said a manager would contact me and hung up on me. I have not been contacted by anyone from the company, but i keep getting spammed with the invoice through text and email. I've tried to reach out to the company via the company email as well as responded to the text and emails I've been spammed with. This company has lost my trust, and I probably won't be doing business with them again. read more

We had a scheduled appointment for 7 am today. Yesterday three guys came out to go over the scope of the job. One was the owner, who kept telling me how great they were and that I'd be really happy with them. They didn't show up for the appointment today. I had sent them a message early asking if I should turn off the breakers. They responded then so I turned them off. Waited and waited and nobody showed or called. I sent a message at 9 am reminding them that they were supposed to be here at 7. No response. At 9:45 the owner called me and said one of the guys couldn't make it because his wife had gone into labor. I asked about the other guy and was told he was on another job. So why was he here yesterday to go over my job? Then I asked the owner why he didn't come out. He said he was busy doing different things for other customers. So I guess I wasn't very important as a customer. And you probably aren't either. read more

We hired Joe in July 2019 for our new HVAC system. He beat other quotes we had received and we also wanted to have our two new units placed in a different location than the one that was being replaced. He & his crew came when they should have and were seemingly efficient in getting our new HVAC units installed. We love the new HVAC units which are amazing over the 12 year old original unit to the home we purchased in 2016. The job was not completed on the flashing outside and we wanted to move one unit down from our master bathroom window a bit more , ( at our expense ). Joe asked us to wait a bit from the original install to complete the work; we agreed to that because we really like him and his crew. We left for our vacation in September 2019 not having heard from Joe or Sundevil and our home was destroyed by water ( NO fault of the new HVAC , btw !) . Then Covid-19 happened. It did take some back and forth with Joe and some no-shows with appointments to fix the flashing and cover the exposed tubing. I know that one of his crew became ill with this God forsaken virus and we forgive that because it's been a horrid year for a lot of us. We really love our new HVAC which has upgraded our home and last year this company was more on the ball than ANYONE we hired , (believe me ) .. we would hire them again because despite having to reach out again and call a few times he never ghosted us but I have a list of who did .. if you wait for that , I'll let you know ! Sun Devil and crew has helped us on multiple occasions, at both our home and at a rental property. They have been honest, informative and timely. I cannot thank them enough. I have always felt like HVAC guys are crooked and scammy, but these guys have never made me feel that way. In fact, most recently, the AC went out in a rental property... Parker and Sons came out and told us that we were super low on refrigerant and it would cost $2000 to just get it up and running, but they ultimately it needed to be replaced and they'd charge us $12k. $12k!!! Our AC died on a Sunday night in July. After getting a complete runaround with the Home Warranty company on Monday, we had a local professional come over to tell us the unit needed $1200+ of repairs, or it needed to be replaced. On Tuesday we made a few calls and Sun Devil was the first to respond. They came out quickly to put a proposal together, and theirs had the best value for us, especially with a financing option that included promotional interest rate of 0% over the first 18 months. That alone put our minds more at ease, even while we were uncomfortable in the summer heat. We were able to move quickly with application, with financing approval, and scheduling installation for first thing Wednesday morning with a crane. This was all done over the phone. This place is shady - do not waste your time or money. We have had them out multiple times and they never fix the problem. They always send the same technician even though we have asked the company to send someone else. This technician is incompetent and he has lied to my husband multiple times about the job that he has done - each time my husband asks if he has unclogged the pipes leading to the unit and each time he tells my husband that he has. The AC will work for a few months and then it's back to the same issue - clogged pipes leading to the unit. It's beyond frustrating. Save yourself the frustration. read more

AZ summer heat started and as a result my 12-13 years old AC decided to take a dump on a Friday afternoon. Called Sundevil for a check up and paid a $60 service fee. A tech came out on Saturday afternoon and found that the AC coil is leaking freon. Recommended to replace system and prices seemed reasonable for new systems. Unfortunately I found much better pricing with another contractor. They priced me $5k + tax for a 13 SEER Rheem, i found a 14 SEER Goodman installed for $5k. Not bad pricing but 13 SEER is being phased out. I rated them three stars because I've been having them come out every year for a check up for the past 3 years. and not once anyone mentioned about a leaking for quite some time. It's a simple test using a tool which can tell you if you have freon in the air. With a pregnant wife it makes it even worse. Make sure you used living social as their pricing on that site is much better. read more

Our AC went out 10 minutes to Sun Devil closing. They arrived the next day and Jesus apologized when I told him we had a hot nights sleep. The issue seemed to be the breaker which Jesus offered to purchase a new one and install. I agreed and well worth it instead of waiting on an electrician. Jesus offered some great suggestions on keeping the electrical box cooled moving forward and changing out my filters. I found this company through Home Advisor when my mother-in-laws AC was not working. Much to my surprise they not only came in with the cheapest bid which was not my main reason for hiring them as much as how well they treated my mother-in-law during the installation. They were fully transparent on their bid and explained everything in full detail to us with their constant communication as we reside out of state.
