Sun house cafe is a cute revolving door of fun creative flavors and amazing vibes. The storefront is no bigger than the average coffee shops back of house, but it holds home to such an efficient and amazing team. The staff is incredibly kind, and the drinks are well crafted. It is CLEAN, curated, and is something to talk about loudly. Their matcha is amazing, but honestly all their drinks are. If I lived in Sacramento I'd be here daily.
With so many new cafés popping up in Sacramento, it can be hard for one to stand out--but Sun House Cafe's banana matcha is definitely worth the visit. The café is on the smaller side, with just a handful of tables and some bar seating if you're lucky enough to snag a spot. I tried the banana matcha with oat milk ($8) and really enjoyed it. The toffee and banana bits are so yum. I also appreciate their cup sizes are decently large and they do NOT charge extra for milk substitute!! While the matcha wasn't quite as rich or strong as I typically prefer, the unique flavor combination and the café's cream-topped drinks made it a worthwhile experience.
I have been dying to check out Sun House Cafe - I had heard nothing but good things about their cafe! I can't even tell you how excited I was when I found out they were coming to my work and catering for our work event! They had 2 drinks to keep up with the large crowd, a cold brew and a Matcha - with a banana cream top and sea salt caramel cream top I believe. I tried both, but I was a big fan of the Matcha which I thought I would never say! I am not a fan of Matcha, but man, was theirs good! The banana cream top took it over...the top! Staff were all really sweet and did a great job getting through the constant long line! While I have yet to actually visit Sun House Cafe, I can confidently say that their coffee is great! I heard multiple people say that their Matcha was one of the best they have ever had! I cannot wait to try their Matcha and other drinks again! I will be visiting very soon! Check them out!
Looking for good matcha on socials and found this spot. Small cafe, has lots of trinkets to look at inside. Saw they had a strawberry crunch matcha but was seasonal item so they no longer served it. The ube coconut matcha is spot on and definitely a dessert type of matcha. Ube cold foam is thick, creamy, vanilla flavors topped with coconut flakes. Matcha is clean and pairs well with sweet cold foam.
Sunhouse has become my go-to spot for matcha. They're always rotating in seasonal drinks and new menu items, which keeps me coming back to see what's next. On my most recent visit, I tried their Honey Lavender Matcha with lemon cream (they were out of vanilla), and it was so good. I found myself savoring every sip just to make it last a little longer. They also had pastries this time, which was a nice surprise since they didn't have any during my last visit.
I saw this place on tik tok and thought it was super cute so I decided to come check it out! It's pretty small and we came on a Saturday so of course it was very packed but the drinks came out great! I got their banana matcha and it was delicious, I'm glad I chose that over their regular latte. Since they're known for their matcha I would highly recommended getting it if you were to visit because it tasted so good and fresh! The banana chips were a nice additional crunch. I wish the actual place was bigger because it got so overwhelmingly busy that i felt almost claustrophobic lol but honestly what can they really do about it. They made the wrong drink for my friend but immediately fixed their mistake! Anyways, I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for some good matcha in sac!
Cute little cafe to stop by. Parking: free street parking Menu: keep changing except regular matcha latte, regular coffee. For example: banana latte or ube latte are seasonal. Service: friendly, decent speed A lot of people working in small space: 4-5 The spot is tiny so only have a few seatings, it is more of pick up and go than hanging out in extended period of time. Matcha drink is good quality and not overly watered down. They also sell accessories and knit knat ornaments next to the cashier.
I personally really like this place! My friend has a vendetta against the coffee because it is made using a home espresso machine, and tastes bitter to her. I'm somewhat picky around about coffee and I actually don't mind it at all - perhaps it's the sweet flavors that mask, but I really like their espresso drinks. I've tried the fruity pebbles and the banana cream iced lattes and I would definitely come back!! Their Matcha is just okay. It looks like they pre-mix it in a pitcher and it definitely tasted watery. Definitely not the worst matcha I've had by any means, but if you've had good Matcha, then maybe this is a place to only try once (or just skip)! It's very small inside, just some bench seating. Parking is not great, it's street parking, but I've always found a spot about a block away (like a one minute walk).
I was recommended to try Sun House by many and finally had the chance to try it. I got the matcha latte and banana matcha. Out of the two, I definitely recommend the banana matcha. It is perfectly sweet and delicious, and the banana cream was so tasty. This is the best banana matcha in Sacramento in my opinion. The whole milk here isn't lactose free, but they have oat and almond milk for alternatives. The employees are super nice and outgoing. The cafe itself is small with very minimal seatings and can be loud so I wouldn't recommend it to be a studying spot.
Okay my friend and I came to Sun House Cafe on April 1st around 11:40 a.m. We had seen this new coffee spot pop up on our Instagram reels as places we should check out and we decided to give it a shot. I will say that it has been a long time for me where I had to force myself to slow down and not suck down my drink. These drinks that we got which were the seasonal drinks, the matcha fruity Pebbles drink and the sea salt caramel drink were out of this world. The fruity pebble seasonal drink was just a throwback to childhood nostalgia because as I drink it I remember sitting in front of the TV watching Saturday morning cartoons and letting my fruity Pebbles cereal get mushy so that it could flavor the milk. Add the addition of matcha to it which gives it that yummy earthy taste it was just a brilliant combination together. My friend, who's not a big coffee drinker, was extremely surprised by how well balanced the flavors were in his drink. He talked about how the sea salt really helped make it a bit more savory but didn't take away from the sweetness of the caramel. He, to my surprise, actually finished his drink before me because it was that good. I am definitely excited to come back and try the other seasonal items that pop up throughout the year. I would also love to try the bit of pastries that were available. Did not do it because we had just eaten a snack and we really wanted to focus on the drinks while we were there. Oh and totally forgot about the Ambiance and the service. Both were just charming is the easiest word to use. The space is small but intimate and very welcoming. The individual that helped us behind the order counter was super helpful, answered all of our questions, and even gave recommendations based on the limited supply that they had for the day as many people had come in for coffee that morning. So again definitely a place to check out.
I'm not sure what took us so long, but we finally made it in to Sun House Cafe. Parking was a bit of a struggle, but well worth it!!!! We didn't have to look at the menu, we went for the Banana Latte and Banana Matcha. The Banana Latte was delicious. The banana Cream on top is the BEST I've ever had! And love the toffee pieces and banana slice on top! Perfect touch! My daughter's Banana Matcha was just as good. The perfect amount of banana. AMAZING! Would love to try the Churro series next but kinda stuck on the banana. Maybe I'll go double fisted next time. 10/10

Two baristas working, which feels like the max for the space. The barista was friendly and soft-spoken. I ordered the iced Churro Latte and Banana Crème Latte. Loved the Churro, well balanced and not overly sweet. My co-worker enjoyed the Banana Crème as well. Both drinks were very aesthetic and I'd come back to try other flavors. Street parking only, park on the street where you can't turn right, you'll have to go around the block. The area has homeless folks, but mornings are quieter. Sun House Cafe is very small with limited seating meant more for waiting than hanging out. 3 stars mainly due to the location and small interior.
My cousin stumbled upon this amazing place and immediately wanted us to check it out. I got the Fruit Pebbles Oat Matcha, and wow, it was absolutely delicious--I'd give it a perfect 10/10! My cousin went for the Banana Cream Matcha, and she loved it too! read more

This place hasn't been open for long, but they're one of my favorite local shops already. I've never ordered a bad drink and have tried like half the menu - everything is SO good, including the seasonal options & the banana cream! The banana cream specifically is more fresh/green banana tasting than the sweet, caramelized kind they have at other shops, which gives this such a unique flavor profile - love it so much! Also shout out to Jazlyn & Monique (I hope I got the names right!!); we came in today literally 2 minutes before the shop closed (we rushed from work specifically bc we wanted to go here so bad, lol), and they were both SO nice, so helpful, chatted with us, etc. Even though they were clearly closing they weren't impatient or anything with us even slightly, in fact they even stayed open a little later bc I am extremely chatty and wouldn't shut up, lol. Every employee we've met here has been friendly, but these two were above and beyond kind, patient, and helpful! read more
3.5 stars for this new cafe with a cute vibe and creative menu! I loved the unique offerings on the menu, but unfortunately for me, their ubiquitous "cream top" contains dairy and they do not have a dairy free version, so most of the menu was off-limits for me (as I cannot have dairy). However, we enjoyed the regular matcha latte with oat milk and the passionfruit spritzer. I will say that my matcha was boldly grassy and slightly bitter, which I don't mind, but others may not care for. It was also gone super fast, as most of the cup was filled with ice. Overall, I liked it, but would probably ask for minimal ice next time. read more
I love sunhouse!!! First time I came here was during their first couple days on soft opening, it was steady, not too bad of a wait. It's also really tiny inside the cafe. I've tried their banana matcha latte and their standard matcha latte and both times have been so good. The color of the matcha is the perfect shade of green, not too light at all. Also, not too sweet, they know how to not overpower the sugar over the matcha taste. I seen they posted their new seasonal cherry matcha, can't wait to try it!! read more
Cute place! I have been looking for a cafe that will fix my matcha craving and this does the job. The cream topping for both drinks is a 10/10. The chocolate chip cookie is truly spectacular! The perfect brown butter, crispy outside and chewy inside cookie. Parking is a little tough so allow yourself time to navigate the area but the building itself easy to find. If you're in the neighborhood then it's worth a try! read more
Parking is hard to find since it's located in downtown but i definitely had to check out one of the newest matcha places in town. Sun House is known for their banana matcha which was not too sweet and did have a banana flavor. Their matcha seemed quite light bodied. It wasn't terrible but also was not the best. I would come back if I was in the area but nothing stood out aside from their sweet service. read more

I came here with no line which is the only positive thing I can say for this business. I ordered the caramel banana latte and black cherry vanilla matcha. I don't usually mind wait times but if there's no line and my drink was the first one to make...tell me why I had to wait for a long time? I saw them weighing out everything. When I received my drinks, I was disappointed off the bat. I asked for light ice and the cup was half filled with ice AND the drink was not filled up all the way. Photos for proof. Today was the only day to get a free upgrade to a 16 oz for coffee drinks only and they decided not to fill my cup all the way. So the free upgrade was basically a scam to customers. Asking for light ice and getting regular amount of ice in addition to not filling up my cup all the way makes me not want to come back anymore. Also to note, they have some house made syrups, but you'll also see Monin syrups on the shelves...so not everything is house made. The caramel banana latte tasted fine. The addition of the banana chips had no flavor and ended up being soggy. And the black cherry vanilla did not balance well in terms of flavor with the matcha. I no longer want to support a business that does not honor customer's requests. Since the sizing is going to be 16 oz, prices will go up and I'm sure the ice amount too. read more

I'm always super excited when a new matcha popup opens up! This one is right in downtown. I went on a Sunday and it was really popping off. My friends and I waited for about an hour just to get in and order. By the time we got up, they were out of almost everything. I had gotten a regular matcha latte but really wish I was able to get the banana cream. I'll be back for that! It's pretty crammed inside so you really only have enough space to wait for your drink and leave. I suggest coming as early as possible! read more

We came on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all! There is no designated parking so you'll have to find parking on the street or in a nearby store parking lot. The inside was small with very few seating. Definitely recommend getting the banana matcha latte with oat milk, it was perfectly balanced and tasted really good. read more
I tired them Sunday afternoon. The service was a little slow, granted they barely opened and probably still getting into the groove. I wanted to try to coconut cream but since they were sold out I decided to try a banana cream latte with whole milk. The drink was simply good. I am cautious when it comes to anything banana flavored as it's not my favorite and it can be overwhelming. I was pleasantly surprised how light it was. I visited Sun House during one of their soft openings. I got there around 8:45 (opened at 9) and there were already probably 30 people in line in front of me. I ordered the banana matcha latte, which I really enjoyed! The banana foam was unique and flavorful and I loved the crunchy banana bits on top. Overall between waiting in line and receiving my drink it took about 50 minutes which was expected given the crowd. The staff were all very friendly and seems like they had their process down despite the tiny kitchen area and the huge crowd. Looking forward to returning when they aren't as busy! There is no designated parking so be prepared to look for street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. read more

3.5/5 Loved my ube cream matcha, and the ube flavor was really good but quite prevalent. Not too much matcha flavor, but I would get it again! My friend's drinks, the earl grey matcha and the black cherry vanilla matcha, had a really good matcha flavor but a bitter aftertaste. I'm generally not a fan of those flavors in matcha, so I personally did not enjoy them as much. Cute interior but it is small and only has a few seats. I would come back to try different matcha or coffee drinks but I might want to get some type of cream top if all of their matchas have a bitter aftertaste! So sad that the ube cream is seasonal :( read more

I came in on a Wednesday afternoon and there was no line. I ordered the Peppermint Cream Matcha with whole milk, and it was pretty yummy. You could really taste the peppermint, but it wasn't overpowering. They also have a sign inside recommending that you sip the drink without a straw if it has a cream top, so I did exactly that. The sweetness was perfect. Not too sweet, but just the right amount. The shop itself it small with standing tables along one side of the wall and bench style seating along the other wall. There's no dedicated parking, so you'll need to park along the street. I came in here a couple months ago back in July when they first opened and wasn't the biggest fan of their drinks. At the time, I thought the drinks were pretty basic and the cup sizes felt too small for the price. I decided to give them another try, and I'm glad I did. Their seasonal flavors look pretty cool. They seem to have switched to larger cups, which is a great improvement as well. Overall, I'd come again. read more

Finally got to check out another coffee shop with specialty matcha drinks and this place was pretty good! We ordered the Earl Grey Matcha and the Banana Cream, with oat milk. Both were really good and I would order again if passing by. I do wish they offered some sort of pastries or breakfast item to go with the drinks. The shop itself is really tiny and not much room to sit or wait for your drink if they are packed. The staff seemed to be getting through the orders at a decent pace though so it wasn't too bad of an experience. Pro tip - DO NOT park your car in the lot across the street where 16th Street Donuts is located. I barely made it back in time to stop my car from getting towed. They are quick! read more

I was just passing through Sacramento and came across this matcha cafe to get the banana cream matcha, paid for it and everything then they told me they ran out of bananas lol I didn't know what else to get so they suggested sweet cream matcha, which turned out pretty good! Turns out I was sitting next to the owner's mom and she had me try the earl grey matcha, that was surprisingly tasty as well! Shoutout to the owner's mom! Thank you for the free drink and for being so nice and friendly! Will definitely come back here if I am in town! read more

This place is so fun and they make the drinks so quick you are literally in and out of there I honestly have never had to wait longer than about five ... I know a lot of people were saying it's super busy, but I usually go there late afternoon Ish and I'm pretty much in and out. read more

I've passed by this little café often and one Saturday there was a line out the door and around the corner and I made a note to myself not to come on a Saturday morning..lol but in all seriousness it's a quaint little space in the heart of Midtown and I'm so glad I took a moment and went in today! I had the banana Cream Matcha and it did NOT disappoint! The staff was friendly and fast and all I ask is that you follow the rule "Sip the the drink frist before adding your straw" it absolutely makes a world of difference in really enjoying the banana Cream on top! Also the sweetest young lady recommend a wonderful place for breakfast amd I couldn't have been more happy ! this place is just convenient for me to go by and get a quick matcha after pilates. i gotta say their matcha and service isn't that good. the employees are always annoyed and side eyeing each other. they charged me for a croissant and then ended up saying they don't have it when my order was called like 10 minutes later. as for the matcha, it's just super sweet nothing special. read more

Been dying to visit Sun House since they opened but they always seemed to be busy. Upon walking in, I didn't realize how little the space is, definitely not a studying designed cafe. The girl who helped me was kind and helped me narrow options to pick from. I ended up getting the Butterscotch Latte and Banana Cream Matcha. The coffee was 10/10 no notes. The balance between strong coffee and sweetness was perfect. I didn't care for the cream on top I would take that off next to time to be honest. And the banana matcha was personally not my fav. The matcha is on the sweeter side and to me it tastes artificial (matcha itself, no the cream top). I would make the 20 min drive for the coffee though!
