Galbi tang, bonchon, rice tea, purple rice

So glad they opened here on the west side / Sawtelle because I used to drive to Ktown for Sun Nong Dan! The menu options and quality are just the same as Ktown's, and having the 24hrs available + open, comfortable (AC) seating is wonderful! The staff is always immediately helpful, easy to ask questions, checks in often with the table! I love the Galbi Tangs, the big platter, and spicy cabbage soups. Nice bonus is the delicious warm rice tea :) Even when there is a wait, they are efficient taking your order while in line so that when you're seated, your order is almost immediately brought out! I often order lunch to go here and bring friends & family to visit because their food is iconic here!

Visited this restaurant for the first time with some friends and got the classic galbijjim with cheese as well as two different soups: seollongtang and yukgaejang. You wait outside in line until you can be seated, and you'll have to place your order first at the front. It can be difficult to find street parking nearby so be prepped for a little walk. The portion sizing was decent, but similar to all other galbijjim restaurants nowadays, the meat is mostly in small bits and then some attached to bone meat pieces. There was a decent amount of rice cake and carrots and potatoes. Cheese is always yummy, but I swear it tasted kinda like the butane gas or whatever the flame is fueled with?? It was sorta funky. The 2 soups were yummy but nothing too crazy. I was sad that the seollongtang didn't come with any green onions, it felt quite plain that way. The side dishes were yummy.

It's always a pleasure coming back here. The restaurant has such a lively atmosphere and a youthful vibe that makes every visit enjoyable. If you haven't tried the Seolleongtang with special brisket, I highly recommend it. The beef is incredibly tender, and the rich, flavorful broth is one of the best I've had. The complimentary kimchi and side dishes are outstanding--I honestly wish I could buy them to take home. Whoever makes them deserves a lot of credit. On top of the great food, the friendly and attentive service makes the whole dining experience even better. This is definitely one of my favorite Korean restaurants, and I'll keep coming back.

The fact that this restaurant is 24/7 already won my heart! Who doesn't crave for some warm bone soup late at night or first thing in the morning! The place is nicely decorated exteriorly with flowers that opens up my mood as soon as I arrived. Once we sat down, the waiters quickly setup the table with menu, ladle, scissors and tong, water, banchan, and napkins. We tried their rice cake soup #16 and the beef soup (fat removed) #1. Both soup bases are rich and soothing. The rice cake soup has egg and some beef and extra black pepper. Each soup comes with a rice option and we got to do the white and purple rice. They also provide chopped green pinions to add extra flavors to the soup. Banchans are pickled veggies like chives and kimchi and onions and daikons. Nothing is not spicy. Prices are reasonable for the soup and service is good and polite and quick. At the end of the meal, a waitress asked us to write a good review and incentivized us of a free drink. I don't think they need to do that, they naturally deserve a good rating.

Stopped by late at night and also had the morning special another day. Really enjoyed the galbi tang. Generous portions of meat. Also the big special meat plate galbi-Jin was yummy and the medium can easily serve 4 or more. The morning specials were limited in terms of options but for the price, a good deal.

The Westside is so lucky to have Sun Nong Dan, and it's obvious how beloved it is by the neighborhood with how packed the dining room is from morning through the evening. Honestly, what did we do to deserve a 24/7 restaurant serving such healing soups? I've done both takeout and dine-in, and the food is consistently amazing either way. My go-to order is always the OO GUH JI GALBI TANG. It's loaded with cabbage and tender meat, and every time I eat it, the bowl somehow feels never-ending. Usually that would be a bad thing, but not here. I never want it to end because it's just that good.

Tasty and comforting soup with amazing broth! A friend suggesting coming here for lunch and everything was top tier. Service is very efficient, it's fast and water and banchan came out quickly. I asked the server for a recommendation because honestly everything looked good. He suggested #7 Galbi tang and it was very delicious. The broth was perfectly seasoned, there was meat, noodles, green onion, and mushrooms. The inside of the restaurant is roomy with lots of tables. The decor is simple, you can tell the focus is on the food. Parking is street parking which can likely be challenging during lunch or dinner hours but we got there a little after 11am so it wasn't too hard to find street parking. If you want something sweet after, the restaurant is a short walk away from lots of great coffee shops, dessert, or boba. Will definitely go back with my family again soon.

Yummy soup! Easy to get a seat in the morning for breakfast. Great for hangovers. Couldn't have asked for more.

Service is the best I've ever seen!! Immediately served and so helpful for our first time eating there. Had a solid recommendation for our party of two so that we can have a taste of both worlds. #7 and #9 so that it's not too spicy or too much. Sean was super helpful about explaining the dishes and drink specials. the sides are good but very spicy. they're a spicy squid or noodle dish that's my fav.

Incredible place for soups and comfort, even when it's warm outside. Welcoming atmosphere and lots of tables for different group sizes. Service is quick and food comes out quick. They are nice and tell you how best to enjoy the soups if you don't know how. They also have come great breakfast deals for around 12 bucks if you come early and need a hangover meal or just comforting food. Their banchans are limited to the spicy fermented items but helps with the soup. Definitely come here anytime of day since it's 24hoursn

This is the holy grail of soups for me. Their breakfast special comes with four soup options, banchan, and your choice of white or purple rice for just $12.99. I was stuffed and still had a whole serving left to take home for later. The service was LIGHTNING fast. Our sides and water came out less than two minutes after we sat down. The playlist was spot on and it was honestly such a great way to start the morning. I can finally understand all the hype now! Much deserved

Kalbi medium size (it's huge) - we ordered mild which was just right

I really loved their family style Oxtail bone broth soup and the delivious pan Chan. It's nice to have an authentic ktown experience in west la now and was surprised at how many people were there. We also prefer the Kalbi which was substantial. Service is very fast and efficient. Tables are clean and it's extremely well ventilated as it's partially open air but has AC from all sides.

Great food I get the #7 with white rice. It can get loud at times. You order when you arrive before being seated. They are the fast with the food and quick with refills of kimchi and water Parking can be a challenge. I'll be back.

The scallop pancake has such an amazing crunch, and paired so well with the slightly sweet and rich mentaiko sauce. My favorite bite was hands down the uni bibimbap. It was so rich and decadent and the sweet shrimp mixed with the creamy uni was an absolute textural dream. I'm devastated it took me this long to try Danbi. I am very pleasantly surprised. It was a cute and vibey restaurant, but be prepared to pay for valet.

The food here is definitely more creative than your standard Korean restaurant. A lot of familiar Korean flavors and dishes are presented in a more modern, elevated way. Scallop Pancake -- 7.5/10 Think scallion pancake, but with scallops. I really enjoyed this, especially because they don't skimp on the scallops. My only complaint is that the batter is a little too thick, and combined with how oily it is, the dish gets filling pretty quickly. This is definitely something I'd recommend ordering with a larger group so everyone can have a couple pieces rather than trying to tackle the whole thing. The dipping sauce is chef's kiss. Uni Bibimbap -- 9/10 My favourite dish of the night. All the different ingredients work together incredibly well. Every bite is balanced and flavourful, and honestly, I could probably eat an entire bowl of this myself. Beef Tartare -- 7.5/10 I love beef tartare, and this was no exception. My main complaint is that I found it a little lacking in flavuor compared to some of the tartares and yukhoe I've had at other Korean restaurants. The bone marrow is a cool addition, although I think it contributes more to the presentation and interactive aspect than the actual flavour of the dish. If you don't eat the tartare relatively quickly, the bone marrow starts to solidify and you end up with little pieces of hardened fat, which I found a bit unappealing. Honey Butter Chips -- 5/10 Not bad, but personally I wouldn't order these again. The honey butter sauce started becoming a little too rich and sickening for me after a few chips.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.

Even when we ordered the food, the server said "that's it?" as if she was offended that we didn't order more food (lower sales?) I'm not sure if we misunderstood her attitude but that's kind of how it felt like. The quality and size went down and it was just... not good. This used to be my #1 spot for cold noodles but our other fav place was closed today so we decided to come here. As you can see, the size of the cold noodles became smaller. Everything was packed in this small bowl which made it harder to eat. I think they changed the noodles they use because it wasn't doing anything texture wise. It used to be chewy and had a good buckwheat flavor. The broth tasted.. like water with a splash of bone broth. The quality of galbi was also a disappointing as I feel like it's became less and the meat was burnt with more fat/chewy bits. The leek pancake was ok but again, comparing it to my picture from January, it was bigger in size and more dough-y. Service was decent previously but it felt a bit cold today. Again, super bummed because we still love this place but I probably won't be ordering their combo again. You can see in my pictures how often we used to order the cold noodles from here and you can compare the quality.
