When I questioned the breakdown the sales guy said, the $3k warrany and all the other dealer fees allows them to sell the car at a lower price!! That makes zero sense to me. I'm so glad we did NOT buy a car from them. The salesman was nice until we questioned the breakdown and told him that's a big no! Once he knew the deal was dead after staying late. He aggressively walked out of the dealership and spun off in his car! Stay clear of this dealership and DO NOT BUY from them... We are so glad we didn't and felt like we dodged a bullet. SCAM, SCAM!! Purchased a used Nissan from Sun Toyota in early May. Buyer BEWARE. They will employ every typical used car salesman tactic in the book. We wanted to pay for the car upfront. They convinced us we would get a better price if we financed. So we financed but put a large sum down. Internet price was around $15K with all the dealer fees and additions we expected to pay around $20K. The salesman will offer you the different warranties by saying "Oh that only adds $16 a month" etc. We put down $12K and expected to finance $8-9K. Then you go to the financing department. They will speed you through screen after screen for signing. When the financing paperwork arrived from the lender, low and behold we were financing almost $16K. I immediately called Sun Toyota. After several LOOOOONG hold times and visits to the dealership I got someone on the phone. They reiterated the numbers were correct. Then I had someone named Connor call me back finally. To his credit he was very thorough and we came to the conclusion that the extra amount was due to several warranties. We went over the ones I wanted to cancel and he directed me to a website to process the cancellations. I did so THAT day May 21. The cancellation paperwork states it could take 6-8 weeks for the process to get to the lender for the refund. I waited. I attempted to contact Connor again via email in July - No response. I tried to call and was put on hold for more than 30 minutes several times till I hung up. I sent another email in August and made more unsuccessful phone contact attempts - no response. I filed a BBB complaint. Wow, what do you know? Someone called me the next day. Now they are trying to tell me that 2 of the service agreements are "non cancelable" and they processed the other 2 in June. It is September and my lender hasn't received anything from them. There is no such thing as a non cancelable warranty in Florida. FL Statute 634.121 requires dealerships to provide cancellation up to 60 days for service agreements and extended warranties. I am still fighting this through the BBB but if it is not successful I will take legal action. I will update this review with the outcome. Follow Up Note: Still waiting to hear back with the GM's decision. I have forwarded my communication to the email they provided in the google review. So we'll see. read more

Run in the other direction whenever possible!! If you're in the market for a used car, you may have been swooped into the salespeople's schemes. They advertise their used inventory at such a low price, only for me to be hit with these ridiculous fees that Sun Toyota deems mandatory. The prices I found were on CarGurus. I was looking at a Camry, and they had plenty of those cars on the lot to test drive. While having a dealer certify the car, it's a good thing. However, Sun Toyota expects you to pay for their costs with no chance of taking them off the total out-of-the-door price. They wanted $4k for their "Sun Protection Plan," to which their stupidity thinks I would pay that AND that Toyotas are the most reliable vehicle on the road. No one in their right mind would pay for such a thing. Although Austin, the relationship person, was trying to sound sympathetic, days and weeks later, he continued to pressure me to come back to go to the dealer without me trying to work out a deal. He said I HAVE TO BE BACK AT THE DEALER TO MAKE A DEAL! Hello? It's 2023, there's text, there's email, etc, and I have a say in what I would like to pay, especially in a market where historically speaking, have prices of cars have been inflated. Car values are going down. Now mind you, I had to drive over an hour, east of Tampa, to get to their lot. So why would I go back and forth without having the opportunity to stake at negotiating? Even after some back and forth when I had another gentleman in a white jacket (can't remember his name), he vaguely explained the breakdown of the fees that were being charged. He beat around the bush, making this a very confusing process. This is an example of predatory dealers that ought to go out of business for these kinds of practices. I have mixed feelings about Sun Toyota. I had 3 Toyota Camrys and came here for servicing from 1995-2017. Husband has the Sienna - his fourth Toyota since 1995. He loves his car, and I loved my Camrys. Our salesperson Sol Grossman was a pleasure to work with negotiating the sale of 5 of all 7 vehicles. Unfortunately, I could not get the price I wanted in 2017 for a new Camry (too expensive!) so I switched to Hyundai. When I had my Camrys serviced at Sun, I usually had service personnel who always found something else I needed in addition to my oil change. Eventually I did not feel comfortable taking their advice, and sought a second opinion if the adviser suggested something expensive. It was a 50-50 proposition. Sometimes it was needed. Sometimes it was superfluous. When it was necessary, Sun did it, and did it well. Husband still wonders what else will be recommended when he goes in for his oil changes. No matter what, it's always done by friendly, efficient staff. Sun Toyota is big and beautiful. The waiting area is clean, and laid out so that you do not have to be within 6 feet of another person. I did get a great looking 2021 Toyota Avalon from Sun Toyota. It was the last day of November and my sales man at Sun Toyota indicated selling the car on the last day of the month would be a great time for me to make a deal. Drove my wife for over two hours and 90 miles just to get to Sun Toyota. I had found a good price for the car I wanted on Auto Trader as I was looking for a low mileage used Toyota Avalon. I even used the auto trader app which showed me what the approximate price would be after tax title dealer fees would be. Plus it was the last day of the month and Sun Toyota promised a great deal. What the auto trader did not disclose was a very deceptive up charges in my opinion. Here is the disclaimer I found on the Sun Toyota webpage. Make sure you read and understand what your additional costs will be above the advertised price showing on Auto Trader and similar car finder sites. Sun Toyota Used Cars Price Disclaimer states: All used vehicle prices are plus tax, tag, title, registration, a pre-delivery service fee of $1,198, Private Tag Agency Fee of $189, and Electronic Registration Filing Fee of $199, which charges represent costs and profits to the dealer for items such as inspecting, cleaning and adjusting vehicles and preparing documents related to the sale. Pre-owned vehicle pricing excludes the $3471 Sun Toyota Protection Package. So the price I was quoted on Auto Trader went up $1198 pre-service Fee. Plus the mandatory Sun Toyota Protection Package Price of $3471. The Protection Package has so many useless things on it and the fact that I live two hours away means I will never get very much value out of the package. Don't think I will be driving for two hours each way to fill up my tires with nitrogen gas. Another one of the Protection Package features promises to reimburse me $2500 if my car is stolen or totaled. That only applies if I use the $2500 to purchase a replacement vehicle from Sun Toyota. My salesman did manage to get me an increase in my trade in value and some other minor adjustments. After all it was the last day of the month so I guess I got a great deal. I will not deal with Sun Toyota in the future if they continue to add the mandatory Sun Toyota Protection Package which in my opinion appears to be hidden from many of the used car price finder websites. Before going to this dealer ask them about their mandatory $3471 Sun Toyota Protection Package. I really do love the car I got. Salesman was also very nice and helpful. I should have done more research prior to buying my 2021 Toyota Avalon. read more

Darren appeared super friendly and when I spoke over to him on the phone he agreed to sell me a car for msrp. Once I got to the dealership Darren and I talked about cars and our common interest in automobiles and was excited for me to get into the new car. We shook hands and agreed on the msrp price. Now if you look at the photos I had posted they had tacked on an extra $3,242 in an extended warranty and dent protection after I specifically asked the finance person that I wanted no additional warranties and coverage on the car. That is their "lifetime warranty" that they offer with every car they sell. But it is not included with the vehicle price (msrp sticker). Darren showed me the price that I wanted to buy the car for but the finance person had made it very unclear and confusing as to the actual vehicle price. Warranty's Aside the worst part is the dealership charged me an extra $3,347 to put into their own pockets (found under line paid to others). Just to be clear even if a dealership is to sell a car at MSRP they still make money. Be very weary they all can talk very well and will try to bait you with all their "included" warranties they offer. You will have to end up paying for all of it. Toyota does Offer a 3 year warranty from factory new. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. If you do check over your contract especially under the part of "total sale price" they will only treat you nice because they know 9/10 times the people will just sign the papers. I don't know what to rate this dealership because there are some pros and there are some cons. Firstly, my credit is horrible and they were able to get me financed... This is really the only good thing, other than the fact that they have a lot of inventory. I was looking to get into a bigger vehicle. However, what insulted me is that I was trading in my 2020 Sport model Honda Fit, which is in mint condition, fully paid off, and I was OFFENDED to be offered 11k for my vehicle! WHEN KBB VALUE IS BETWEEN 16k and 18k!!!! Wow! And when I told the salesman, he says "what do you expect?" I expect more for my PAID OFF vehicle! I expected to get $15k for my vehicle and finance another $15k or so, not finance $21k AFTER my trade! They straight up tried to rip us off... Not to mention, the entire time my fiancé was upset because they didn't even acknowledge his existence. They didn't even look at him. I've been getting these on and off for over a year now finally decided to go on and see if it was legit.. well you can guess how it went from my 1 star review. The "deal" advertised in the email was completely made up, actually had the sales manager come out and pretend he knew nothing about the email. Keep in mind I've gotten at least 10 of these over the past year. The deal they offered me was about 10k over the "offer you've been waiting for" that they sent me with absolutely no plausible explanation and a wasted hour of my life. I have 2 Toyotas with leases ending in the next year and they will not be seeing me back at this dealer or their sister dealership. They're READY to sell here, but you'll have to resolve any issues yourself, especially if you purchase through TOYOTA FINANCE. In October 2024, I bought a RAV 4 from the same year. I subsequently moved to Pennsylvania, and on April 17, I called Toyota Finance to request that they send the title to this state for proper registration. That same day, I made the same call to SunCoast Credit Union, with whom I financed my Dodge Grand Caravan. On May 1, the title for my Dodge Grand Caravan arrived in Pennsylvania, sent by SunCoast Credit Union, and I was able to register it on May 5. As of today, May 22nd, I still haven't been able to resolve the chain of procedures and, above all, the inconveniences I've had getting Toyota Finance to send the title to Pennsylvania. Today, I received a call informing me that I must send a legal document clarifying the error THEY made, including the incorrect entry of my first and last name on the Contract and the Title Deed. In other words, I'm paying for the consequences until the end!!! In November 2024, I received a call from Toyota Finance informing me that the first monthly payment on my RAV 4 was 48 hours overdue. (This didn't happen again since I had the payment set aside for my bank account starting the following month.) That is, I received a reminder call 48 hours after the first payment due date, and I've been waiting 36 days (and counting, because the issue hasn't been resolved yet) to receive the title in Pennsylvania for registration...and I must resolve an error they made!!! No communication or calls returned; I skipped an appointment due to lack of comms, month later they call to ask if I want to reschedule to which I explain my dissatisfaction with the service... no apology, no attempt to make it right, not so much as an acknowledgment of fault, "okay, we'll go ahead and update your profile." We purchased a 2024 Toyota Tacoma on Feb 22 from Sun Toyota. During the purchase we were treated exceptionally by the sales staff. Once we signed the agreement with pricing, trade, extras, etc. the environment changed. We completed the credit application and we were informed of the approval and that finance would be with us shortly. THREE HOURS later we were finally set in front of finance. Our agreed upon down payment of $10000 was to be completed in two $5000 payments. Sun Toyota claimed that they could do a debit card withdrawal of the $5000 from our bank card. I explained to them that our bank has a $3500 limit and could write two personal checks. They stated that they no longer accept personal checks due to the handling???? They claimed the debit transaction would work and they "Do it all the time" and it won't be an issue for them. After multiple attempts, I offered to write a personal check. They stated that they were using the wrong system and we would get an email to pay through. As a precaution, we wrote a personal check for them anyway just in case. When we signed our sales agreement and associated paperwork, we were rushed through as it was getting late and most of the employees had left for the evening. On our drive home from the dealership, we received multiple emails and text messages to attempt the debit transaction. My wife made more attempts while I drove. This resulted in our debit cards being locked for fraud. In the end, the personal check was cashed and our down payment was reduced to $5000. This in turn resulted in finance having to rework the finance agreement that was not completed until I believe March 11. During the purchase and during the second finance discussion, I was very descriptive of the process to register the vehicle in the state of South Dakota, my state of residence. The response was that they have a department that handles all the paperwork and it would be handled without issue. At this time, May 11, 2025, the vehicle has not been registered, South Dakota has no record of any paperwork and I keep being told that I should have my plates in the mail any day. My wife and I have made countless calls to countless people at Sun Toyota only to be told "it's being handled", "we will look into it", "we will get back to you" etc. I have made countless requests to speak with the General Manager and have not heard from him. The state of South Dakota fines the owner of the vehicle daily if the vehicle is not registered within 45 days of purchase. This cost will be on me. During the sale negotiation, ceramic coating was added for the vehicle protection. The truck was returned to the dealer for application, after multiple phone calls to schedule, and returned with out documentation of the coating. The vehicle paint condition does not coincide with being ceramic coated, water spots, does not come clean with pressure washer, etc. The truck was purchased with a dealer installed lift kit, wheels and tires. Once purchased we noticed excessive rubbing when turning the wheel. It was brought back to Sun Toyota and the correction was to adjust the caster and remove the front air dam. The tires still rub when turning the wheels in reverse. This condition is unacceptable in my opinion but have no faith that Sun will resolve it. The vehicle we trade still had a balance on it and Sun was to pay it off. This was not completed until April 4, 2025. During this time multiple phone calls were made and we were assured that the payment was made. I was required to make a payment on that vehicle after the deal was completed to prevent a late payment. Again, multiple phone calls. At this point, we have decided to contact the Florida State Attorney General for assistance in resolving these issues. Do not purchase a vehicle from Sun Toyota or Morgan Auto Group. The customer service is inept at best. I have purchased new and used vehicles from countless dealerships and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had. read more

on 5/5/2025, I contacted Sun Toyota based on a car I found on Car Gurus: A 2022 Lexus ES350, VIN: 58ADZ1B18NU135072. The price on the Internet was $35,235, minus a $750 VIP discount, for a total of $34,485. Add to that the tax, title, and registration for $2990, the total due should be $37,475. After driving out there to look at the car, they started negotiations at $45,000 which was ridiculous and clearly a bait and switch. I called them on that and they finally got down to $41,000 and refused to remove the "Optional Warranty" that costs $3,000. I feel that they are dishonest, disingenuous, and negotiated in bad faith. You should not be forced to buy a warranty that you do not want. That forced upcharge really means they are selling the car at an inflated price and they are just wasting the consumer's time. This is my second time dealing with them with the same experience. Steer clear of these sheisters. read more
