We had a great experience with Doug @ Sundance. We were in the market for a gas insert fireplace. Everyone representing company was very professional. Doug sat with us and talk through all our options. He was patient and helpful. Understanding that we were working on a limited budget he recommended a slightly blemished (it had a barely noticable scratch - totally cosmetic) unit their had on hand for a discount. I took one star out because when the service crew came out they used a standard size pipe instead of the larger one we discussed (for we had future plans). However, I truly believe when the time comes for more improvements, they'll get us as repeat customers. We've actually also used their plumbing services a year before we installed our gas insert. It was all due to the failure of the first company our home warranty had sent out to us multiple times. Finally the home warranty relented and gave us a second company (Sundance) to fix the leak. They came out without any delay, and checked out the leak in the wall. They gave us a totally different reason for the drip drip drip sounds we were hearing in the walls and fixed the hot water output so we weren't scalding ourselves in the tub. Great experience. We had them install a heat pump with 2 ductless units. Every step of the process was great: the sales consultation, the installation, and the followup maintenance. We wanted central air, but Brian suggested a ductless system instead. We are so glad we did. We have one unit in the bedroom and one in kitchen/dining. We can cool just the area we need to cool (like the bedroom), or we can run both units on max, and use the furnace fan to circulate the cool air through the entire house. I have been working with Sundance Energy for years and generally would have rated them as an average service company with above average communications and response time. For the past 5 years we have been dealing with an annoying fireplace performance issue on a 2013 Sundance install. Their service technician has tried various tweaks to address the problem and has given it his best but it still recurs frequently and I have just learned to deal with it. This year, on an annual service call, the Sundance Technician felt we had been dealing with this long enough and on his own, initiated replacement / upgrading of our control system with the latest system which corrected the problem. We have been customers of Sundance for about 20 years now, spanning three homes, 3 gas fireplaces, and now 2 tankless water heaters. From sales to installation, the process is smooth. This time around we had to wait longer than in the past to get our new tankless water heater installed, but I'm chalking it up to their being very busy as a result of the great work they do. Our technician was Bryan. On first visit he was able to quickly diagnose the issue with our gas fireplace. A part was ordered and he returned the following week to install. Bryan was prompt, let me know when he would be arriving. He was very tidy and cleaned the inside of the fireplace and the outside parts before putting it all back together. Bryan worked efficiently and took care in completing the job. He is also pleasant which is a nice factor. I would highly reccomend him and Sundance for gas fireplace and heater work. read more

I was a Washington Energy Services customer for several. They performed annual maintenance on the fireplace in one rental unit, and a gas stove/heater in another. I also purch,ased 2 hot water heaters through them. During the recent snow the stove/heater quit working, even though it had been serviced in October last year. On inspection I noticed that the blower was full of dust...like it had NEVER been cleaned. When I called for service and mentioned the blower I was told that is not part of the service and they would not come out. Sundance was listed as a Napoleon service provider and responded to my call. Heather came by a few days later, cleaned the blower, got the stove to ignite and determined that it needed a new transformer and that the night light housing was unsafe. It took awhile for the parts to arrive, but she came back, installed the new transformer and night light housing, and was very thorough in her clean. She also gave me and my tenant some tips on using the stove. I recommend Heather and Sundance Energy Services. read more

First of all, I do not normally leave Yelp reviews, but felt that this business deserved my review, as I would like to warn future customers. I called for a service call to replace an inducer motor on my gas furnace. I knew that was the problem as it had been squealing and it froze up. Sundance told me that they would have to diagnose it first and it was a $199 service call, but would take the $199 off the total if I had them complete the job. I agreed and they came out the next day. The repair tech was there for about 10 minutes before he told me it was the inducer motor. He called his sales manager and then told me it would be $1217.45 to repair. What they did not know, is that I had spent 5 minutes researching what the part cost online ($250.00) and knew that it only took 3 bolts to take off to replace. I asked the repair tech how much time the job would take to complete, and he said no more than 45 minutes. Being as that I am a Sales Manager for a very large company and was working, I was more than willing to pay a few hundred dollars plus parts to get the job done, but $1217.45? I asked to talk to the Sales Manager and told him that I knew the part was only $250 and the tech told me that it would be no more than a 45 minute job. How could you possibly mark the job up that much? Even if you marked the part up $150 over cost, that would still equate to over $800 in labor for a 45 minute job. Here is where I really got upset. The Sales Manager then offered to reduce my bill to $1018.45, because I thought the cost was excessive. Well that is exactly $199.00 off the original price, which was the service fee for coming out and their deal anyway if I had the work done. Sales MANAGER - NOT! Sales CON - YES. To finish this story, I then just ordered the part for $250 online and had it shipped overnight for $22. It actually took me less than 30 minutes and 3 bolts to take the old one off and put the new one on. It's unfortunate that at this time, when people are struggling that a company would attempt to take advantage of customers to that extent. I was more than willing to pay a reasonable fee for their service, but will let you decide if you think 30 minutes labor is worth paying over $900. I was still charged the $199 plus tax for their poor service! read more

We bought a slit head system and are very happy. Our experience is that this is a totally professional organization. The salesman clearly was very knowledgeable and experienced. The process was tasteful and not pushy. Our installers, Keith and John, were incredibly professional. We live in a 100 year old house and they hit a surprise in our house's ancient electrical system and had to run the power from a different box. Hey, no problem! They kept us informed, they were creative, and didn't mind explaining what they were doing when I poked my head in a few times. They left our house and yard immaculate and were total pros about everything. One thing that we liked about Sundance is that they've done thousands of split head installations, so they know their business (and have a top rating from Toshiba, enabling them to give longer warranties than many other companies.) They aren't some new kid on the block or some wannabe company. After the installation, they clearly walked my wife and I through the operation of the system. And they gave us their business cards and told us we can call the office or them on their cell anytime we have a question. read more

My furnace stopped working on Monday and called my warranty company. Service company is Sundance. They can't get to my furnace for another 9 days in the winter and they don't work on weekends. If it wasn't for the warranty there is no way I would wait 9 days. Ridiculous! read more

I am looking into adding a Ductless Heat Pump to our home and called Sundance to schedule an appointment for them to provide a bid. When I spoke to Doug and told him that I had 2 other companies coming out on Mon. and Tue. and couldn't meet with him until Thur. or Sat. (this was on Mon. by the way) he responded by saying, "I'm going to let this one go." He said, "Business is good right now and he had enough work so he would let one of the other guys I have scheduled take it..." Well, I guess if you don't need the business someone else will. Sundance's customer service is excellent. My rental property had water heater leakage problem and Sundance was able to send somebody quickly and replaced the water heater at a reasonable rate. JD Davis was a decent, patient, and responsible man. I was overseas and throughout the process he kept a good dialog with me. He did a great job in identifying the problem and also installing the water heater. A few weeks after water heater replacement, my tenants told me it was leaking again and JD went back to the house and checked. It ended up the water heater was not leaking but one of the tenants had the water spilled from the shower head...JD was quite accomodating and didn't charge me anything for this additional check-up which I appreciated. One incident was that when the old water heater got hauled away from the house, there was dirty water dripping to the hardwood floor and leaving stains. I was not informed by the tenants until four months later after the water heater replacement and by the time the stains were not removable. Tenants said Sundance acknowledged the responsibility but since it had been four months I couldn't judge whose responsibility it should be - tenants' or Sundance. The sure thing I knew was that tenants were definitely held with negligence by not informing the issue to me when they saw this. In the end I had to refinish the whole hardwood floor in order to remove the stains and tenants paid their fair share of costs. I am not saying it is Sundance's responsibility but just want to highlight it to all who wants to replace hot water heater - when you see dripping water left on the floor, wipe it out immediately otherwise it could cost a fortune to repair it. read more

When my husband and I decided to add a gas insert to our fireplace, I called a friend who always refers excellent home services companies. She sent us to Sundance as they'd done a great job on her insert which gets used daily. Curtis came out to my house in Seattle and was super helpful assisting with the decision on which unit to purchase. I had some work done to the face of the fireplace first, and he also helped with referring a mason (artist, really). When install day came, the team was courteous and communicative on each step. They struggled to insert the tubing down my extra tall 3 story + brick chimney and determined there must be a blockage. Curtis quickly arranged for someone to come out to snake a camera down the chimney; low and behold someone had dumped bricks and cement down it years ago likely to block air and water flow. The quick thinking on Curtis's part to get someone with a camera, and the information we were able to obtain by seeing the blockage, helped me to find someone else to open my chimney up from the outside (terrifying) and clear it the next day. Sundance worked us into the schedule, and the day after that finished the insert and measured for the custom back plate. The back plate and permit review were done within a week. Everyone I've dealt with at this company from the office staff to the technicians has been kind, courteous and professional. And the work looks great. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. In fact, I will now be using them for my furnace servicing, too - replacing the local company that's getting my next (negative) review. read more

Very expensive, extremely poor service. Took 6 months to get them to do the work. They cancelled twice along the way. After an installer finally got around to doing the work, he ensured us that the system was working properly. After he left I tested the system and found that that was not true. After a long delay someone came back and fixed it. Very dissatisfied. However, they were courteous. Nonetheless, will never use them again. read more

Sundance was able to get us a new water heater when it went out on a snow day. Turns out, the water heater went out because there was too much water pressure and it was causing the new water heater to dump hot water our the relief valve. That seems like not enough attention to the details of why did the original water heater go out. I later had Sundance replace my furnace which was a complete mess. They didn't hook up the new thermostat to the new furnace correctly so it wasn't working the way it was suppose to. I made so many phone calls and got nothing back from Sundance. Finally I denied charges on my credit card and then they sent another person out to finally figure out that it was hooked up wrong. A very short time after, I found out that my Air Conditioner was not working, so I called Sundance again. When the first tech came out and looked at it, he left and said someone would call me. No more details than that. I waited and no one called, so I followed up. It took several calls over several days to get someone willing to talk to me on the phone. They thought I had the wrong thermostat and it was not compatible with the air conditioner even though they are the same brand. After way too long later another tech came out, but he had to get someone else out also. Turns out that the Thermostat and air conditioner are compatible, but the system had developed a leak and lost all it's refrigerant. They never found the leak, but said that I needed to replace the A/C Unit and all the piping to fix it. It sounded suspicious to me because they had just replaced the furnace and they share the same air exchanger and the A/C was working fine before. I ended up having another company replace the A/C unit and it's all working fine. My summary is that Sundance has no followup and apparently a lack of ability to diagnose. When I wasn't being ignored, the people were very dismissive about any issues I had. read more

SO DISSAPPOINTED! Believing in " Buying Bothell" that when my fireplace insert went out about 4 weeks ago I called and left a message on their answering machine and did not get a call back. No big deal another Eastside company gladly took my $. About 2 weeks later, my furnace went out (a much higher $ value) so I called 3 companies, left a message at Sundance, guess what 4 hours later no call. I called again and spoke to a female employee who was, or seemed truly embarrassed by the lack of response, gave her the message and YOU GOT IT - NOT EVEN A RETURN CALL TELLING ME THAT THEIR POCKETS WERE TOO LOADED WITH $$$$ AND DID NOT NEED MY $4000. I cannot believe their "ho hum attitude" and lack of response. YOU BEST BELIEVE THAT FROM KNOW ON I WILL CONTINUE TO BUY BOTHELL AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO THE SAME, JUST NOT "SUNDANCE" ... they SUCK! read more

I love the guys at Sundance. Every time I have a catastrophe, they are here within 30 minutes. They never say, "I told you so" - even though they did. Today, it's my hot water heather. By the looks of things, it's been leaking for a long time. I'm lucky there is no major damage. So, I told them they told me so. :) What I really like about their customer service is that they not only give high-level cost estimates over the phone so that I can compare options (tank v. tankless), they explain to me why one option is more costly than the other. So, if you're a single mom who has no idea how to deal with furnaces, hot water heaters and air systems, this the company for you. read more

I just purchased a new home and saw that the heater was installed in 2013 was very pleased to see this. This weekend moved in and realized the heater was not working. This heater was installed by Sundance had been serviced by Sundance so naturally figured it made sense to call them. Could not get through over the weekend even though they claim 24 hour service. Called first thing Monday morning and explained the situation. Promised to have someone out between 12-6pm, had my wife rearrange her schedule. I get a phone call at 4 to tell me they can't come out that day, even though this is my only heat source, I am told they have lots of people without heat and that they are taking care of the old first. They don't know me, my age, my health issues or those of my spouse. I explain that I can get the company that takes care of the heating and A/C for my company instead and they could care less. For a company to not try to take care of their customers and new products and assume (instead of ask) is beyond poor business practices, if I ran my companies this way I would be out of business. This is only the second review I have ever written (other about a doctor) but customer service and lack of care is something I just feel others should know when looking for a company. We all work hard and it costs us more than just money to change our schedules for these places and just to be blown off like they're the most important and only game in town. FYI I called my other company, they will be out today, rearranged their schedule to accommodate me. They only do commercial is the reason I don't promote them. Exactly what I needed, at exactly the right time. To make a long story short, the main control board on my furnace went out just before the forecast biggest blast of our series of winter storms here. (Hint: As I write this, the outside temperature is 26F.) After a few telephone calls to see who locally might have this control board in stock, I found Kevin at Sundance, who walked me through the process of getting a new one. Again making a long story short, I was able to retrieve the new control board from an associate of Kevin and install it, all within five hours of when the problem was first noticed. I'm thinking that the next time I need service on my furnace, Sundance is who I'll call, because they're local (both geographically and for parts), and are very responsive. read more

I waited 6 weeks to have my insert cleaned. I was told by the technician it couldn't be cleaned because I didn't have the key, charged $107 and left with soot on my wool carpet. After contacting the office, they sent out a carpet cleaner that successfully cleaned the carpet. The next week another technician came out and said he didn't know what to do and left a foot long streak of soot on my wool carpet. I can see the cobwebs and soot. Not sure why it is so hard to clean a fireplace but Sundance clearly can't get it done. read more

I've used this company for many years without issue. Last year I had a new furnace installed. The team that installed the furnace tore the seal around the door into the furnace space and put a few dings in my walls. When they were done they showed me what had happened, took a few pictures, and then assured me I would hear from the company about repairs. I heard nothing. When I called this year about an annual furnace check I mentioned that I'd like to at least have the door seal replaced when the technician came out to check on my furnace. The gal on the phone took note of my request and then asked me to be sure to remind the technician when he called the day before so that I could be sure he brought the seal. Again, that phone call never came. When the technician arrived at my door I asked if he had the seal with him. He looked at his phone and said, Oh, I'm supposed to take a picture. When he finished the furnace check and was writing up my invoice I told him I would need the seal replaced from the furnace install before I could pay for the work. He said, no problem, I'll have the office call you. Again, no phone call, only another invoice in the mail from Sundance for the furnace check. My advice, use another company. Customer satisfaction and service is definitely not a concern at Sundance Energy. read more

Mark from Sundance just finished repairing our gas fireplace and it look beautiful and works great! The only problem is that Mark was the second staff member from Sundance to come out to fix it. Apparently the first technician didn't even do anything. Strange. But, Mark was apologetic on behalf of the company and now it all works out great! Been a customer for many years so it's unfortunate when one experience makes me write a review like this. A tech came out to diagnose a heat pump malfunction. He was there for 20 minutes, acknowledged it wasn't working, and said he would have to come back to diagnose the issue. Isn't that why he came? He came back 2 days later, said the problem was likely with the coil. I showed him where it was (in an enclosed crawl space), he came back 10 minutes later and said that he couldn't access it or even find the model # (it would be under warranty) because there were ducts in front of it. He would call with a quote to move the ducts to gain access. I went down after he left, found the model and serial # and was able to detach the 3 ft. of ducts - in under 10 minutes. He called 2 days later with a quote of "not more than" $4,500, just for the duct work (no repair)! Really? I could re-duct the entire house - twice - for that. He must work on commission and think all homeowners are idiots. Never heard from him again. I emailed the service manager describing my disappointment. No response. Done with Sundance. read more

Worst Customer Service! I called to make an appointment and had to wait 6 weeks before we could get on the schedule. Then, on the day of the scheduled appointment they called to say they had bumped us because they had other customers to take care of. We waited and rescheduled again with them two weeks out. The day of that appointment came and they never called to let us know they couldn't make it to our house AGAIN! I told them I was extremely unhappy with the lack of customer service. They never contacted us to communicate there was a change in their schedule. Each time I had to call them to find out what was happening. I left work early to come home and meet the technician that would never show up. Not sure if they are understaffed, but regardless, I've never received such poor customer service. read more

Run away! I'd give these guys a negative rating if I could. These guys (specifically JD Davis) sold my 73 year old mother who lives alone a $4100+ top of the line tankless hot water heater that she did not need. There was nothing wrong with her current hot water heater other than age. She didn't need a tankless hot water heater and dear God she didn't need to spend this much on ANY hot water heater. These predatory selling practices make me so angry and the only warning I can post to others is on Yelp. Why not a hybrid electric heat pump hot water heater? These cost a fraction of the price and the yearly cost is just as much. They had to convert her to gas for this stupid thing and there is no longer any cost advantage for gas appliances. Beware of this company, they will sell you things you do not need but will be sure to install them really quickly before you can make a more informed choice. read more

We decided to go through Sundance because of their great sales pitch. During the warranty period, we had several visits from the techs as our flame kept going out. We also had a problem with the 'glass doors' that were an optional attachment for the outside of our fireplace windows. They broke twice and the last time when we tried to get them installed we were told that they had to be paid for, and we were still under warranty. We ended up being out $200+ as we never paid for the replacement as we paid for them up front. Now we need the fireplace serviced to get it going as we use it every winter. Never were satisfied with the fireplace they said would be the best one for us. Won't go to them again. read more
