just found this place today. The salad/deli bar was truly amazing: sooo many good and very healthy choices! The bad part was having to choose! It reminds me of the coops in Portland of yesteryear with an amazing deli that they never had. So many of the coops and natural food stores currently feel "packaged" and "slick." Sundance is informal, eclectic and fun! This place makes me want to move to Eugene! I'm not a die-hard health fanatic, but I do enjoy some good organic greens and other healthy stuff every once in a while. When I'm looking for a great salad or other tasty and health-conscious hot/cold dish, Sundance is the place I go. A really wonderful asset to Eugene and it's smaller natural food stores. It has everything you want or need. The apothecary folks are very helpful, the checkers very nice, the vibe is good, and most importantly they have a great selection of natural foods (organic produce, local foods, etc.). The resource boards, flyers, and periodicals outside are a good resource, bike parking is covered (though sometimes overflowing), and the community connection is great. It's the best! read more

The vibe is hit or miss - sometimes the staff are friendly, other times they're pretentious. They seem to know neighborhood regulars, which adds to the sweet local grocer feel. When I lived in this neighborhood, Sundance was usually on my weekly list of places that I stopped by to grab a few things for dinner or even grab a bite at the hot bar. This natural foods store is small but has a decent variety of vegetarian items to choose from and a nice produce section. This place isn't cheap but when you shop here you know you are getting organic goods and quality products. They have a nice herbal section with skin care products and medicinal supplements. They also have beer and wine as well as their own little wine shop behind Sundance. The parking lot is super small and turns into mayhem at lunch time at at 5:30pm on weekdays when everyone is off work and rushing to get things for dinner on their way home. I like the healthy options at the hot bar but they are all a little bland to me and nothing special. The people who work here are usually friendly but at times it may take you much longer to get in and out because of the conversations they are having with their friends while you're in the check out line. But hey, that's Eugene for you. I hope Sundance continues to thrive as it has been and it's quirky charm will always make me smile. read more

Great produce selection, well-stocked shelves. However, the model of a "natural food store" comes to mind immediately upon walking into the store. Impossibly narrow aisles, Saturday employees wandering around everywhere, trying to stock and work while the store is filled with customers. And in this case, it's a bad model. It might be time to re-think employee schedules, and also consider moving to a bigger space. And the produce: Is it really necessary to have four employees crammed into that section, allegedly working? read more

Excellent place. All soul, no mainstream corporate at this place. Excellent prodcuce, excellent bulk section. Prepared foods on the hot bar are thoughtfully created. Quality of the execution of the prepared foods is ok. I don't hesitate to eat there if I'm hungry. Overall, I much prefer to shop & eat at places like this because I know that through the owners and the employees, there's an excellent chance my money will be recycled in the local community thru other thoughtful businesses and causes. read more

I went to U of O and I would always wander in here when I lived near here. The people that work here are so happy! I felt so out of my comfort zone in here which is why I think I enjoyed it so much. They didn't mind that I would wander. And ask questions. They also have a 50% of produce section for old produce. Go here. Get happy. It is fun. read more

It's tiny, and not as easy to maneuver as could be because of it, but they have fantastic produce, lots of beer and wine, good local (and imported) cheeses, plus quite a bit of bulk options. Amazing store! The best selection of healthy special food products I've ever seen Some of the stuff like raw hummus, I just don't see anywhere else. Always lots of fresh organic produce, which they rotate out constantly. My favorite salad bar in town. They have delicious soups & hot food dishes, special kinds of wraps & sandwiches, raw cheeses, lots of great bulk foods to browse. They have some extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff when it comes to nutrition & supplements, I am very grateful to those folks. A lot of times the produce seems a little overpriced, but again it's always the best quality and FRESH, and they have a beautiful variety. Also, the produce they rotate out goes on to half-price discount, so there are some really sweet deals on produce. I've lived nearby there a few times and always went there often, preferably 4-5 times a week so I could get a nice variety of discount produce. Good coffee too. read more

Normally this store is great but when I was there yesterday to pick up my bulk order "Individual" was incredibly rude. He lectured me in front of a packed store. He was so rude and loud that someone actually came up to me in the parking lot while I was leaving and asked if I was ok and that they were shocked as well at how he treated me. Sundance, as previous reviewers have noted is very small, and quarters can be tight, but they do a very impressive job of packing an incredible selection of goods into the space, lacking nothing that a full-size grocery store would have. Except, of course, meat! I've been told in the past that the only thing that Sundance has that's meat is some tuna. The (mostly) college-age staff are friendly and helpful, and know their store well. The produce section has plenty of diversity and one can often get some good deals on their 50% off shelf. The wine and beer selections are great as well, showing an impressive breadth as well as some good sales. They also have glass ware for sale as well as a hot bar which is pretty good. If you've got a choice in the matter, Sundance should be your first (and last) stop for grocery items in Eugene. read more
