Really enjoyed our experience at Sunday Vinyl! Went on a Saturday night (made reservations a week in advance) so it was busy, but we were seated right away. Cool vibe and top notch sound system. Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable, pointing us in the right direction in terms of wine - we tried 3 different reds, all of which were delicious. Now, the food was . It's rare that we eat at a spot where every single dish was , but Sunday Vinyl succeeded. We started with the rabbit pasta, had the autumn spaetzle and roasted Cornish hen for entrees and ended with the flourless chocolate cake. Everything was phenomenal. Mom's night out at Sunday Vinyl. The atmosphere is so fun with great music and record-inspired decor all over the place. Very bright and clean and open. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Service was also really good. As far as food goes, my review is very mixed. We started with Kanpachi crudo with watermelon radish. The dish was visually stunning, colorful and beautifully plated. I didn't love the flavors but other table members did so I left it for them. We also got some bread which was really tasty, served with salted herbed butter - but it was notably missing the salt. Still very good. For dinner a friend and I shared the Heirloom Polenta and Dry Aged NY Strip. I'll start with the bad - simply put, the steak was overcooked. We ordered medium and it came out...gray outside and inside. My friend even asked a few times if I wasn't sure it wasn't pork. For $55 it's a small serving and to be overcooked was an absolute crime. Now, for the good. The amazing, really. That Polenta was superb. It was gorgeously green, creamy, expertly seasoned and a nice sized portion. It was DREAMY and I would highly recommend! Others at the table ordered the Guinea Fowl and she said it was really good and the other ordered a number of sides - she let me try a few bites and my faves were the Asparagus with Hollandaise and the Potato Pave. We had another amazing experience here a couple of weeks ago for Ariana Grande flight night - with a Thank you, next theme. All of the wines were delightful - and as the server explained, you'll want to drink one right after the next because they are so good. While not inexpensive ($50 per tasting), it's well worth it. Onto the food - everything was delicious - there were four of us, so we shared a number of appetizers, and each orders main dishes and sides to share. We had the beef tartare, cheese and charcuterie, hamachi crudo, glazed pork belly - hard to call out a favorite, highly recommend them all. For main dishes we had the pork chop, salmon, and heirloom polenta. We had the roasted carrots, potato pave, and milk bread rolls which were all really good. The carrots were a standout - highly recommend. Another highlight was seeing Bobby - was so nice to see him (and on a Wednesday). Sunday Vinyl is a cool spot just off Union Station. Why is it cool? They have the coolest music playing off vintage jazz albums. The prices won't kill you, and the servers know the relatively simple menu very well, and do a great job pairing the right wine with your course. We started with the meat and cheese plate which was good, but pretty small for $25. Okay, it was very small. The truffle fries made up for it--very good. The oysters are worth the $4 based on the light garnish that didn't overwhelm the flavor. All the main courses were very tasty-trout, chicken and the burger. The only thing that kept that last star from my review was the portions. A little light for the price. If you go there for flavor, you're good to go. If you go there hungry, we'll you may want to roll through McDonald's on the way home to top off the tank. read more

I really want to have liked this place as I saw it on a tv show and was traveling from Maryland to visit my sister and figured it would be a great place to dine. Needless to say, it was very underwhelming. The food was way overpriced, the appetizers were bland and could have been made by a 10 year old, and the main dishes were subpar. The chicken was greasy and salty and the burgers were asked to be medium and they were basically still moo'ing. The GM was there that night and didn't even come over to our table to discuss our disappointment even though we mentioned to our server many times how the food was not good. I did love the music and the vibe of the place. My advice is don't waste your money dining there as your wallet will be very empty (our meal was over $410) and your palette will be void. read more

Very hip and underrated in downtown Denver. I've visited twice since their opening about a year ago and always think to myself, "why don't I come here more often?" Yes, it's great for special occasions, but there's no reason to hold back from going "just because". Attire is casual, menu is just big enough to give people options, the wine is fabulous and so is the music. My husband and I made a reservation for our anniversary and it was just the right kind of restaurant to celebrate a low-key occasion, they were playing Tennis (a Denver favorite) and we shared some small plates: lobster toast, olives, tartare, and steak frites. Portions are not very large, but it's a classy amount of food so you don't stuff yourself sick. If you're just coming for drinks, highly recommend happy hour wine by the glass from 5-6 pm. I'm not sure how I missed this very well kept secret. I was in for a bday dinner when they were doing a special dinner & wine pairing with my fave DJ spinning tunes from back in the day. The spot is in the Union station plaza so easy to get to. It's small and pretty intimate. The service, food, wine and music was all perfection and I'm surprised a few people didn't leave pregnant from the "grown folks" feel to the whole evening. Bad! We tried to order 1 of the 2 sides they offer to be told they were out. They didn't try to make any accommodations for us. As we were getting ready to leave the table next to us got served the 'out of stock' item. When I asked the staff I was told it was available only if order a certain other item off the menu. I had been told it was out of stock. I heard the table next to us try to order a different item off the menu only to be told that item was also out of stock. The menu is already VERY limited and they also made no accommodations for that table. I sat for my entire meal without a drink and no one coming to check in. While on our way to Tavernetta, we saw this spot and decided that after dinner we would try and grab a night cap before heading home. Glad we did! Turns out, the owners of Tavernetta also own it. We got sat at the bar (first time sitting at the bar in over a year. Pretty wild). We spoke with a gentleman over dinner at Tavernetta (one of the founders/owners) and told us that it is one of their concepts. Sweet! Wifee continued with her chardonnay fix and I had an old fashioned. Fiyah! The chardonnay wasn't great according to the wifee... she said, "steel." We saw Sunday Vinyl featured on CBS Sunday Morning, and with an upcoming trip to Denver planned, knew we had to try It. The idea of great food paired with music was right up our alley. The ambience was fantastic, very chill vibe and with music by Neo was a great start. The menu was small but interesting, encouraging us to sample a lot. Unfortunately this is where the wheels came off. The hash brown with caviar tasted like a frozen hash brown with a cream cheese smear. The grill cheese was dry toast with neutral cheese and jam. Tuna tartare tasted off, not fresh. On a positive note the grilled watermelon was a a nice surprise with a hint of mint, spice, and feta. As well the gazpacho was decent with the right amount of spice and flavoring. On to the main event the chicken was over salted and chewy, and two of the burgers were painfully rare. I have to say our server was fantastic and the drinks were good. My recommendation is come to the bar and listen to great music, have a drink, and then head to your dinner at another restaurant. read more

I really enjoy going to restaurants that have staff that enjoy the food. I mean those servers that can really describe a dish in a way that makes you know exactly what your going to get, but also in a way that tells you they have tried the dishes. This is one of those restaurants. I have been for both a girls night out dinner and brunch. Neither meal disappointed and I love the small plates that allow you to share with your companion. I loved the deviled eggs at brunch and the savory crullers - they were exactly as described. Another little touch is the bites offered to each table. It seems so small, but really enhances the experience. The location is right at union station, which makes it an easy to travel spot with no parking. My only negative is that both times when me and those in my party have opted for cocktails vs wine it has felt like there is a judge-y moment. I was pleasantly surprised with the food here. First we had cod crudo dish which was just phenomenal! Also had the duck liver pâté, and the eggs. Each dish was really good. The pate was probably one of the best I've ever had (including restaurants in France I've been to), kudos team Sunday Vinyl! The mains kept up with the complex favor combinations of the appetizers. I had the Autumn Spaetzle and my husband had the steak frites both were simply great. So why the 4 starts you ask? Dessert and wine. The sweet potato pie dessert was no better than what I could get at WholeFoods. The marshmallow like topping was too sweet, the filling was ok and the crust was too hard. The wine list was ok, and I wish they had more wines by the glass considering they are a wine bar. Not to mention some just "ok at best" wines were $20 a glass. We had a glass of Gamay which was cloudy and flat and we didn't even finish it. Trust me we leave no wine unfinished under normal circumstances. This is constructive feedback to the pastry chef and the sommelier. I love your restaurant and I will most certainly be back.
