I am hooked on their delicious, creative lunch options, plus they offer online ordering and pickup. It seriously couldn't be any easer to get food here! It's easy to get overwhelmed by the options they have because it is an extensive menu with hot and cold items. I've tried the kale wrap, mock bbq salad with quinoa, the mock crab cakes and quinoa Pad Thai bake. I've enjoyed every single item I've had during lunch and would highly recommend that everyone give them a shot. They also make their own kombucha that is quite delicious with your meal. Wow! Blown away. The concept and everything was really impressive here and I left with such a happy, full belly. Ordering kind of reminded me of a cafeteria type lunch line concept, which was really cool. You wait in line and order what you want after having plenty of time to review the menu as you walk in. The food is prepared quickly and you pay at the register at the end. I came with my husband, best friend, and her boys so I got to try quite a few different items. The boys got the kid's bean burrito which comes with a half side and a juice box for $5! What a great deal. It's black eyed peas wrapped and pressed. You get to choose any side you want for the half side. For my meal, I had such a hard time choosing but went with the Tempeh BBQ Bowl. It comes with either Sunflower Brown Rice or Quinoa, BBQ Tempeh, Cole Slaw, and Steamed Kale or Collard Greens. I got it to-go because I figured I wouldn't finish it all but it was so good that I did. I also got a side of Sweet Potato Casserole, which was really good. I didn't get to finish that though because we moved on to the desserts, which were fantastic! My husband ordered the Traditional BBQ Sandwich and I think of everything, that was my favorite. He honestly didn't believe that it was vegan lol! My best friend ordered the Curry Chickpea Wrap and she loved it, she kept raving about how good it was. I had a bite and it was very tasty as well. It was really huge too. I didn't get a chance to snap a photo because she started eating before I sat down. Now, the desserts were the best part. We tried one of each of the cups and I think the cookie dough was my favorite. It was so sweet. The chocolate mousse wasn't as sweet and peanut butter one was also very peanut buttery. I ate almost the whole oatmeal raisin cookie dough and got the chocolate chip cookie dough to go. For drinks there was a lot to choose from, teas, kombuchas, craft beers, and lots of other stuff. I really wished this restaurant was in South Florida because I'd be coming ALL the time. As I left, I went to the restroom and there was a sign on the door about how they regretfully had to raise prices in September but have always wanted to keep their prices affordable because they believe that healthy food should be accessible for all. I have to be gluten free so I love visiting Nashville and I always stop by this bakery. You absolutely have to have one or more of their lavender cupcakes. They are amazing. The staff has always been super helpful and give great tips on what to try if you have questions. The only negative can be the wait time if you order food. I ordered one small thing to go and waited almost 25 minutes to get it. They were very apologetic and I know staffing can be an issue all small businesses deal with, so be aware so you come in with patience and grace. read more

I was on my way back to the airport in Nashville and decided I wanted something healthy. I found Sunflower Cafe based on the good reviews, and I was very happy with my meal here. My husband and I ordered a ton of food. A "BBQ" bowl, a chickpea wrap, plus the All Sides Sampler plate which was a small portion of every side dish. From the way it was described, "about two bites of each side", I thought it was going to be small. Wow, it was two whole plates full of food! Needless to say we were barely able to finish it all and left very full, and happy. The prices were very reasonable too.It cost us about $37 for all the food we got. Plenty of parking was available behind the restaurant. There was a small outside area and plenty of seating inside. It was kind of hot in the place due to all the cooking going on. The place is nice and secluded but not so much secluded to the point where you won't be able to find it at all. On my first visit to Nashville Tennessee, this restaurant was the one that came up the most when searching for vegan options of food to eat. I was pleasantly surprised to find a place in the south that serve the vegan food. In previous experiences in the southern states, it proved difficult to find plant-based options. The name sunflower was what caught my attention in the first place. Upon arriving, I felt as though I were walking into a very warm, and friendly place. It was almost as if I was walking to the backyard of my uncles home. The scenery is easy on the eyes, the whiff of barbecue was present all throughout the building, and I was greeted by two wonderful workers. The menu is a bit cluttered but not so much where you can't figure out what you want. I asked one employee who happened to be a San Bernardino, California native, what was popular. She said that they are known for their veggie burgers but that her favorite was the vegan barbecue burger. The texture resembled pulled pork, but the taste was far from it. Still it was very flavorful and topped with all types of vegetables and a homemade coleslaw sitting between two whole wheat buns. I was pretty sure that I had to go back and get another but after the first three bites I already found myself slowing down ha ha Ha ha ha. The agave soda was also quite refreshing and not as sweet as regular soda. If you happen to pass through this side of Nashville, and if you're looking to have some good home cooking on the healthier side, I highly suggest visiting this place. Dear Sunflower Cafe, It's been far too long since I last saw you and oh how I miss you. I've often wondered if I'm crazy since I think about driving 4.5hrs everyday just to see you again. Sigh. The thought had crossed my mind to just move down to Nashville so I could eat here once a week. Ok, that's a lie because if I lived in Nashville I would eat here everyday day. Maybe even buy a house nearby so I could walk there or even rent out parking space for the patrons. Seriously, I've never seen a vegetarian/vegan joint poppin' like Sunflower Cafe. The amazing food just makes you want to come back. I was in Nashville for 5 days and ate there 3 days in a row. I would have eaten there all 5 days if we had discovered it day one. Yes, I'm not ashamed to say I'm obsessed with their food. Favorites: peach kombucha, jalapeño burger on gluten free wrap, sweet potato casserole, pad tai salad and Asian slaw. Things to note: parking can be an adventure if you are there during the rush, which oddly seems to be anytime they are open. Also leftovers (if you have any at all) don't seem to kept for very long. The sweet potato casserole went bad after a day in the fridge... albeit a hotel fridge that wasn't that cold. I can't wait to visit again!! read more

This was a delightful place to pickup vegan food while visiting Nashville. It's organized similar to a Subway -- food is behind a glass partition, you tell the employees what you want & they dish it up for you! What an amazing find in Nashville. I was looking for some good eats, and YELP brought me to this spot. Its a cute little place, tucked in behind several other buildings and residential streets. The restaurant is very cute, with indoor and outdoor seating. They have the food setup conveyor / buffet style, so you walk down the line and just ask for what you want, and they hook it up. I got one of their bowls, but I couldn't decide what I wanted (literally) so I just took everything. I had BBQ Tempeh, with other proteins and all the veggies. It was literally everything they could put in the bowl. As I sat down and started to eat, a line was forming out the door. Locals must really love this spot. We loved the food so much that we try to go there twice a month and even bought gift cards for our friends! We went late on a Saturday night and the place was not crowded. I can't express how much I love this place. I found it during one visit to Nashville and have been going ever since. Every visit I am pleased. I even love the bakery. If I lived in Nashville I would be at one of them daily. My husband had to work in Indiana. Because of Covid he didn't want to fly so he drove. Imagine my surprise when I realized he was driving through Nashville. On his way back he stopped and picked up my order. I ordered the bbq wrap with Cole slaw side and the portobello mushroom wrap with a side of sweet potato both deconstructed as I didn't want a soggy wrap. My order was correct and made it to Atlanta in tact. I thoroughly enjoyed the bbq wrap. I normally get the tempeh but wanted to try the seitan. While it was delicious it was pretty heavy. I stopped by this place for lunch and initially there were only a few individuals inside; by the time I got my food and sat down to eat the line was out the door. You order your food at the front and pay at the end of the counter after you walk through the buffet line (it is not self serve). I am a big fan of the Sunflower Café. They serve such interesting and flavorful dishes, with a focus on being health conscious. There are tons of vegetarian and vegan options; while I'm not a vegetarian, this place has vegetarian options that I actually love. That's saying a lot! The greens are out of this world, I don't know how they pack such robust flavors without using pork. The menu is pretty extensive, and you go through a line, cafeteria style. The Sunflower Cafe is a hidden vegan cafe in Berry Hill close the the Hundred Oaks Mall. I never would've known about the Sunflower Cafe if my vegan friend hadn't recommended it and told me that it is her favorite lunch spot. I brought three friends here who were visiting from out of town and hoped that there would be something for everyone's tastebuds. The parking lot is tucked behind the cafe and is a little bit small/tricky to park. The entrance to the cafe faces the parking lot even though it is away from the front of the street. The outside patio is welcoming and there are little sunflower decorations outside. The entrance to the cafe has a chalkboard of their menu items then the setup is cafeteria style so you can choose your entree and sides then pay at the cashier once you reach the end of the line. The wraps, sandwiches, salads and veggie burgers are all $6.99 and the bowls are a bit more expensive. The sides are all $2.99, so if you get an entree and a side you are looking at spending about $10 which is reasonable. The special of the day was a "Crab"cake with a slaw on top of it which looked great so I got that. I was asked if I wanted a side and the guy at the counter recommended the pad Thai salad so I got that. The crab cake had a perfect crisp to the outside then inside it surprisingly tasted just like a real crab cake. The slaw was necessary to add a fresh and cool element to the dish. I liked this but wasn't blown away. The pad Thai salad was good but also not something that was too original or knocked my socks off. I ordered a peach kombucha which all of my friends did as well and we were all about it. It may be kind of odd to say that the kombucha was my favorite thing that I tried but it's true it was...get it! It's not too carbonated or bitter like some other kombuchas I have tried it is more like a tea. Two of my friends ordered variations of their Veggie burgers and my other friend just stuck to ordering a few sides. My friends appeared to be enjoying their meals as well. I like the ambiance, the food is decent and the people that work there are very nice. Given the fact that my friend absolutely raved about this place I was a little let down. This was my first time and in a sense was a tad bit overwhelming as I stood in line trying to figure out this huge menu. My suggestion would be for Sunflower to have a greeter at the front to explain the menu, samplings, as well as answer any questions you may have about the all vegan choices. This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in town. The only thing that could ever make me deduct even 1/1000th of a point is the parking lot from hell. I have never had to leave for lack of a spot though and just know to always carpool. 99% of the staff is super kind and down to earth. There was a point in time where some of them knew who I was when I was coming in on a weekly basis. The food is amazing-- I always get a burger in a wrap (so many topping options) and/or cold pad Thai salad and/or broccoli salad. Last time I got the cooked kale and sunflower rice and was so blown away because I wasn't expecting to like it that much and I LOVED it. My parents (2 casserole loving, cream of chicken soup using, hamburger eating baby boomers) both agree that the food is delicious. The portions are SUPER generous and the prices are great. This place has something for everyone. Might be the biggest vegetarian menu in Nashville? The bad: The cleanliness is hit or miss. Sometimes the bathroom is foul, sometimes it's nice. One time we saw a roach the size of a building scamper across the floor of the dining area. Another time we found a hair in our food. Sure enough, we looked over to the staff standing over the food area to see a particular employee with (same color) hair hanging in her face while hovering over the food, continually tucking it behind her ears, over and over. Gross. Meals can get pricey once you get an entree + side + drink. Pretty standard for a meal but it kinda feels like a cafeteria so the price always ends up surprising me.
