Two visits and excellent breakfasts each time! I had the chilaquiles verdes and they were scrumptious. Hubby was quite happy with the Eggs Benedict-- the eggs are high quality and ... what's the word for when something was made exactly according to how it ought to be? Oh - eggs were "perfectly executed" is the phrase I was fumbling for! He prefers when Canadian bacon is used, but we both agreed the ham was generously portioned, and he remarked that usually when he orders Eggs Benedict he's still hungry afterwards-- not so at Sunny Side Cafe! Second time we had chocolate chip pancakes (so yummy, crammed with extra chips in the center of the stack) and chicken fried steak, just right seasoning on the coating and fried to perfection. Stopped in for a brunch before our flight and were extremely happy we chose this place. The restaurant is very clean and upscale, with extremely friendly staff. We were barely in the door before we were greeted and lead to our table. When we looked at the menu we were torn between all of the yummy looking food options! They also have a wide variety of drinks to choose from as well. Here is what we ended up getting: All American Breakfast with loaded hash and a side sourdough bread slice: The sough dough looks and tastes like it came cut off a fresh baked loaf. Super soft and fluffy, and the slice was nice and thick. Everything just tased perfect and yummy! Avocado Toast: DELICIOUS! They were not shy with the amount of avocado, and again the slice of the bread was very thick. The poached egg on top was super runny and delicious! While it did get a little messy I would definitely order this again. The avocado was fresh and the bread was toasted to perfection. Nothing wrong with this dish. While we didn't get to try the fresh squeezed juice or mouthwatering pastry and cookies in the display case, this was an amazing breakfast stop. I had a terrible experience with the manager who had black hair. While sitting at the counter, I informed her that my bacon was missing from my plate. Instead of addressing the issue, she turned around and told me that I couldn't hold three plates in my hand. She glanced at the ticket to see where my order was supposed to go and didn't realize I had ordered bacon and sausage. Instead of helping me, she gave me attitude and then had to walk to the window to request my bacon, which wasn't already there. If it hadn't been for Summer's great attitude and her promptness in pouring my coffee, I would have left because of how rude the manager was, especially for a simple question about something she should have already known by looking at the ticket! read more

The pancakes were so impressive, incredibly fluffy with nice crips edges! The staff is also pretty great! Now for the reason it's 4 stars not 5. Super cute restaurant! The service was great. You walk in and are immediately greeted. Luckily we got sat right away. They provide crayons and coloring page for your kiddos. The menu is super easy and the choices you have a yummy. The good ol' drip coffee was great as well. Nothing like that first sip of coffee in the morning. Now the food was DELISH! I got the Avocado toast. It was perfectly seasoned. The poached egg was cooked to perfection. Husband got the day break. Pretty basic meal, the only feedback I got from him was "if we had this place at home I'd come here every weekend for the pancakes" and the kids got pancakes, eggs and bacon. Love this place. We often walk over for breakfast with our dog. We sit outside on the comfy patio & Cosmo loves it there too. We bring our out of town guests there each time we have visitors as well. I personally love the fries there so I get sandwiches while everyone usually orders breakfast. Once in a while, I get the chorizo burrito and it's so good and yummy. The salsa has a nice kick but is not too spicy. I can only eat half and then take the other half home and when reheated, it's still so good. The lattes and regular coffee are strong yet smooth just as they should be. We enjoy all their baked goods too. My husband really likes the cinnamon roll and almond croissant. Lastly, I appreciate the cozy yet chic decor with fresh flowers on the tables. What a cute touch. I'm writing this review as it is long overdue. We are on our way to brunch there in half an hour. For some reason I had heard middling reviews of the place but a friend and I checked it out this week. Wow! We were so impressed with the service, the quality of the food, everything. I had the Overnight Oats, which I couldn't even finish. It was piled high with fruit and a perfect dollop of almond butter. My friend had the Morning Bird sandwich and it was huge! A great addition to the city of Seal Beach! Let me tell you all that I was worried such an establishment couldn't survive because its location. However, I went for morning rush and I was happy to see so many people visiting a new business. I had the morning bird sandwich. While its as not as big as I hoped(because I was hungry) it was very delicious! I had a side of fries. The fries weren't the best unfortunately. The wait to sit down during the morning rush was about ten minutes. We waited for our food for almost twenty minutes. When youre hungry this can feel like an eternity. The staff was friendly and doing the best job they could with the packed house. Overall, good experience. I would like to come back and try something else.
