I went here for a quick breakfast before I left town and it was a good choice. I had shopped at St Nick Knacks and was headed home to Maryland. I needed some substance for the drive home. My waiter was super fast, the kitchen spot on, the food delicious and the lady at check out was super funny and thoughtful. She found out I was leaving and had a long drive and packed me 2 ice teas to go plus a glass of ice! So sweet of her. I had chipped beef and it was really good. Usually they have great food but wife and I ate there Thansgiving and it was awful. Turkey dinner was gristle, skin and slivers of bone. Tiny little piece io pecan pie. Waitress brought out some more white meat but said that was all she was allowed to do. read more

This place is a fine breakfast/brunch spot. It benefits by comparison with the Sunset Grill, 100 yards east, which is a low point in food service on the East Coast. The restaurant is clean, the staff is super friendly, the food is plentiful for the price, they welcome our grandkids and have plenty of food and beverage choices for them, in short is a nice neighborhood breakfast diner. My daughter and I came here this morning while the rest of our family went out golfing. There was no wait, even though the parking lot was full. We were seated right away, and a server came to take our drink order. Our food came quickly, and it tasted great! They even indulged my daughter when she wanted a smiley face on her pancake. Yum yum yum good food. The buffet is gorgeous! Fresh with a lot of choices! The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and I ate more country ham than I should have. There are GF pancakes right on the menu and that's why we decided to come on down and we're glad we did. I appreciated the waitress bringing my pancakes out while they were hot instead of waiting for everything to come out and risk someone having cold food. I didn't particularly like my pancakes... but I appreciate that they were on offer. read more

Update: bathrooms were remodeled, so five stars it is. Friends and family are regular customers, and the place has something scrumptious for everyone...including some of us who need gluten-free options. The buffet is a favorite too. Sunny Side has become a family favorite for us, being one of the only local restaurants that offers breakfast all day. This restaurant has a plethora of breakfast & lunch options, enough for everyone in your family to find something they'll enjoy. Decent prices, kind wait staff, & quick service. The owner is very sweet & recognizes us every time we come in, even if it's been 6 months since we've been. It's definitely not fine dining, they could definitely stand to do some interior & exterior renovations-- but it's very family friendly & has something for everyone to enjoy. Went there for breakfast. Ordered scrambled eggs n home fries with fruit cup. The eggs were good. Very small amount of homefries compared to other places but the worst part was the fruit it was old n smelly. No wonder there are never many cars in parking lot. This place has really gone down hill. As a visitor to sunset Beach, I had been told this was a good place to eat. Our party of 3 visited today, November 9th. The food was okay. What brings concern were the observations made while we waited on our meals. Practices taking place and observed were surprising, especially during these days of COVID-19. The hostess and waitress were observed using the same cloth to clean tables, without placing the cloth in a sanitizing bucket between use, but laying it on a counter. Menus were observed not being cleaned between seatings; chairs were not wiped down between seatings; items regularly available on tables were not wiped down between seatings. The one good observation was we saw was staff wearing masks. It would appear management might need to take a look at procedures, especially during these pandemic days. read more

While the waitress walked us to our table, she asked us what we wanted to drink. What's the rush? I would like to at least sit down first and open the menu. So, we ordered the buffet. Bad decision. Almost everything was hard including the sausage, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, and French toast. I inquired why there were no scrambled eggs and was asked if I would like some. Well, duh. We were brought two orders of eggs that were fried and cut up - they were not scrambled. If you are going to be offering a buffet BREAKFAST, have the decency to have EGGS available on the buffet!! Service was OK. Place wasn't busy at all and the buffet was taking forever to be refilled. People were waiting for about 15 minutes for eggs at a breakfast buffet. My wife and her parents had eaten here when they visited us a few weeks ago. My 11 year old son loved it so, he wanted to go there for his birthday breakfast. This was my first time. Thankfully, we got there early enough before all the golfers and tourists got there. We were immediately seated and had easy access to the buffet. Our waitress was young, probably in high school. She seemed like she was still half asleep. However, she was really friendly. The food was really good and they kept the buffet constantly loaded with fresh food coming out. They have a little bit of everything for everyone. Eggs, bacon, sausage (links and patties), country ham, pancakes, fruit, grits, etc. Everything a growing southern boy needs to get through the day! The coffee was good and fresh. The first time my wife went (sans me) she got crepes with fruit and said they were delicious. I hate that the winter months are coming to a close because it will be more and more difficult to get into our favorite places until the fall. Stopped in for a quick breakfast after a very long drive and I have to say this place was very good. My husband ordered an omelet and pancakes since he was so hungry but the omelet was such a nice sized that he didn't need the pancakes (but ate them anyway they were so good) I had the banana and nutella crepes and OMG so yummy (but how can you go wrong with nutella?) Will be back again on our next visit (and have told family and friends that this is a must stop for a good breakfast) read more

Not a good experience. My wife and I stopped in for breakfast. I looked at the buffet and decided to order off the menu. Eggs were cooked to order, the hash browns were cold and literally floating in grease. A fork full and grease would drip out. Could not eat. Biscuits were cold and appeared to be frozen biscuits. I finally had to get up and interrupt my waitress talking to another wait staffer to get a second cup of coffee. If you don't care about quality and only want quantity, this is your place. read more

On vacation and just driving around sightseeing, we decided to stop here for breakfast. Server was very friendly and efficient. We had the breakfast bar which contained all the familiar offerings. Eggs are cooked to order and we had ours over-easy. Perfectly cooked. Biscuits were light and fluffy but the gravy was runny. Sausage links were browned just right. Went back for waffle, which was thankfully the thick Belgian kind not like an eggo. Accompanied by some salty country ham and my tastebuds and tummy were happy. So, when we saw the sign that their special was Fried Chicken with two sides, we decided to stop. I instinctively checked yelp before going in and it had 5 stars. The restaurant is only open until 3:00pm, but it was 1:30, so we were good right? Uh, no. All 5 of us wanted fried Chicken. We saw several people eating it when we were being seated and it looked good. But, when we tried to order our waitress said "oh, well the guy who makes the chicken isn't here and he won't be back soon and it takes 30 minutes to cook it". Seriously? It's 1:30! Apparently they only have one person that can cook chicken and god knows where he went! We should've left right then, but we were hungry. My dad ordered the Buffett for some ungodly reason even though it was very apparent that the food had been there since morning and the gravy had a gelatinous film on it. He regretted it almost immediately. I ordered a fried chicken salad that was supposed to have boiled egg, cheese, fried chicken etc...I got; a plate of lettuce with diced onion and green pepper on it! And the frozen chicken paddy seemed old and tasted like someone dumped salt all over it. Of the other 3 meals; a hamburger that was not eaten, a taco salad that was okay and chocolate chip pancakes were apparently the only eatable thing out of the whole mix. I'm stunned at the rating of this place. Maybe the breakfast buffet is good in the mornings. I will not eat here again, there are way too many other places that want your business and the cook sticks around until closing time. read more

The breakfast menu looked great. Should have gone with my gut (ha!) and ordered from it. Instead, we opted for the ease of the buffet. Value for the money isn't bad, but unless you are only all about bacon and cinnamon rolls - might consider the menu for sure. Eggs are pedestrian. There is a big selection of meat, but none of it is particularly good. Waffles/pancakes/French toast all ok but not great. Then a large selection of fruit that was haphazardly cut and of varying ripeness and quality. Totally ok if you want the volume of a buffet, but wouldn't recommend if you are looking for more quality than quantity. read more
