I hate to give this place 2 stars but I was so disappointed. This used to be the best teriyaki in town ( in my opinion) . First if all I brought my girls and no high chairs available. I chose dine in, even with the pungent smell of cleaner in the air. A little less Fabuluso please. The food is what you would expect from a teriyaki chicken restaurant. Nothing special about the menu, your normal stuff. The service was good, polite, friendly and brings your food out to you,...in styrofoam. The nightly news was on the tv telling grim stories. The teriyaki chicken is what I usually get. The portions are so large I usually take half home. The chicken is juicy, not over cooked. Nice portion of salad. 2 scoops of perfectly cooked sticky rice. First step walking into this place, it feels clean and new. Also the staff is very friendly, fountain drinks are available with free refills. My favorite part: This is the only Teriyaki establishment I've ever been to that didn't upcharge you for the Spicy Teriyaki option, anywhere else they want a dollar more. I had a very good little teriyaki place that did not last long, so I tried Sunny out and after a couple of times I think I have found one to go back to again. I have tried the Yakisoba and one of their chicken teriyaki specials and find the flavor to be good and everything tastes fresh. They have some good egg rolls as well. I love Sunny's. It's one of my favorite places to pickup teriyaki. The owners are very nice and personable and the food is delicious. I often work out at the gym nearby and would call in an order for chicken teriyaki, no sauce, no salad, brown rice and extra chicken and there was never an issue with the complexity of my order. Most times I call in and places either won't do no salad or if they do they don't fill up the container with rice, but Sunny's does and there wasn't an issue with brown rice or no sauce. This is my new teriyaki joint! The price is amazing and so is the food! I had the Spicy Katsu and Hot Chicken my first time and could not stop thinking about it. I live in Seattle and am surrounded by really small and divey Teriyaki places that (to be honest) charge too much. I was surprised by how clean Sunny Teriyaki was and that they even offered free goodies like the Egg Flower Soup! You would never find a place in Seattle that actually gives out free food (even at the fancy places!) I was also impressed by the variety of food that they offered. There was a bit of confusion ordering three orders over the phone. I had to place orders for the office, so I told the nice lady over the phone that all three will be separate. I repeated my order twice just to make sure she was going to place them correctly. My co-worker then came back with our orders. The orders were correct- YAY! I ordered the spicy chicken with a 5pc order of gyoza. I had the salad first. You can't go wrong with the salad. I noticed my bag was dripping with sauce. I had to leave my take out box in the bag so I didn't make a mess on my desk. The spicy chicken was not bad, but it was drowning in sauce. The spice was not the problem since I love spicy food. The ponzu sauce seemed a bit watered down. It wasn't as dark like ponzu sauce should be, and you can taste the difference. I'm not sure if I would return. Everything was just mehh. read more

They always have good food and great portion size! However tonight we ordered the shrimp tempura dinner as one off our meals. The tempura was over battered, greasy and unappetizing. I know ordering tempura Togo doesn't always spell success but whatever shrimp they use weren't even cleaned properly, with the main vein (poop track) still in place. This is by far my favorite teriyaki joint in the south end. This is a very casual place to eat with great people and great food. Of course you expect exceptional chicken when you go get teriyaki but these guys makes exceptional tofu as well. The Spicy Tofu is my favorite. Like most teriyaki places in the south end it is very homey and local feeling and good for small groups. My absolute favorite teriyaki is out in Renton, but Sunny Teriyaki is, hands down, the best in Burien. I'm actually not a huge fan of standard teriyaki; my litmus test for a good teriyaki joint is the yakisoba. I've found many teriyaki restaurants "cheat", adding flavor to their yakisoba in the form of teriyaki sauce. Yakisoba is not supposed to be sweet, in my opinion, so such a tactic is a big turn-off to me. While Sunny's is more heavily flavored than I prefer, the flavor is rich and not overly sweet. The prices are quite reasonable and I highly recommend their tempura mushrooms. They were still too hot to eat by the time I got them home, and it was a little torturous... but well worth the wait, with their crunchy, pillowy coating and juicy center. In Burien alone there are 10 different Teriyaki places. Sunny is right in the middle. I've tried most of them. Working 5 minutes from Burien I eat lunch here a few times a week. The Chicken Teryaki isn't that bad... If thats your go to order, give this place a try. I however ordered the Chicken and Beef combo and the beef is by far the worst I've had in a long time. They don't prep the meat at all. No trimming, it was half fat. He tasted like it had been boiled. I'm not even sure how you would do that. The lady who works the counter is super sweet. A very nice lady who was very grateful and very nice. I will be back just to try some other items on the menu. Like many Teriyaki places in the neighborhood they have a full American Chinese Menu. There are some days I just feel like Bright Red Sweet and Sour Chicken. Overall Solid Three stars. Not the Worst and Not the Best. Right in the middle. Another Pro is its in the same parking lot as Trader Joes, you can place and order pick up some groceries and be back in time for your food to be finished! read more

Best of Bento is still pretty good, but a few things have changed in the last couple of years and their chicken breast bento just isn't what it used to be. I came into Sunny for the first time last night to pick up dinner for my husband and I. We ordered chicken breast teriyaki, a California roll, steamed white rice, a salad, and a side of steamed veggies. It took about 10 minutes from the time I placed my order until it was ready, not bad for all that! Service was friendly, even when I took my time deciding what to order. The California roll was HUGE and my hubby really liked it. The rice was soft but not super sticky, which is just the way I like it. Their teriyaki sauce was thick and the perfect blend of salty and sweet, which is awesome because I feel like too many places use something more similar to soy sauce...thin, super salty, yuck. This sauce was awesome! Best of all, the chicken breast pieces actually look like chicken breast (imagine that!), thick strips of grilled white meat chicken drizzled in sauce instead of tiny chunks of mystery chicken.
