    Spicy chicken teriyaki my fave
    Alexis V.

I always come here when I'm in the area. I personally love the spicy chicken teriyaki and my man gets the regular chicken teriyaki. Prices are deals here and the chicken itself? Delightful. The workers (mom and son?) are friendly and good servers. No complaints! This place has been around for a looong time. And they should stick around for as long as they can! I would be very sad if I see this place shut down. Regardless of the bad reviews, they've always done us right.

Spicy chicken teriyaki is my favorite! Good sized portions. Friendly dine in service. Owner is a single mother that doesn't speak english, but her son does and so does her employee so please be patient. Located across from Thriftway just off Des Moines Memorial Dr S.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! WORST TERIYAKI PLACE IVE BEEN TO YET. My boyfriend and I thought the lady was really nice my boyfriend had given her a $2.00 tip just to get our food and find a black ant in my rice and a straight black piece of hair about 3 inched long in the MIDDLE of my boyfriends rice!!!! It was so gross we went right back up to her counter and showed her then asked for our money back! First she tried giving us a new batch and we watched her grab already prepared chicken from a big see through plastic bag in a bin She didn't even give us our full total!! She tried acting like she didn't understand us and kept repeating the word "yeah" until I got pissed off and said I'd call the police (which they'd do nothing to help) she ended up smiling handing my boyfriend the $2.00 tip back haha. Please don't eat here!

Great pho nice ppl must try great portions

Many people have…read morementioned a high price point, small portions, no options for children, and I must say break down the these issues individually to help you all make a decision to try it out or not. Price Point - There are several meat options served here that are very expensive but we tried it all. My personal favorites were the Spicy Pork Cutlet, the Salmon and Rice Bowl, and the wagyu sirloin skewers. Being from Missouri I knew that the prices would be a bit more than what I was used to but it really wasn't that significant. For 4 people who ordered a little bit of everything, we spent 140$ That's three appetizers, 2 sides, and 5 main dishes. For special occasions, celebrations, corporate dinners, this place seems like a great option. Now, in regard to the portion sizes. Pretty simple explanation, they do feel a bit small. Lastly, do they have options for children? I would say no but that depends on what kind of food your kids eat Hahha. This is more of an adult restaurant not particular organized for kids meals. Overall, I definitely recommend everyone check this place out. The food is so fresh and flavorful. We lived the experience and would definitely come back if we find ourselves in town again.

Started off strong with the uni shot, which was really good, and the sashimi fresh, clean, and exactly what you want from a sushi spot. We also ordered the mushroom and pumpkin salad with spinach, which tasted great, but at $20, it felt a bit overpriced for what it was. The rolls, unfortunately, didn't live up to how they looked. Presentation was definitely there, but the flavor just didn't hit. On top of that, they were falling apart pretty easily when picked up with chopsticks, which made them a little frustrating to eat. Service was solid overall staff was attentive despite how busy it was but they did miss our hamachi kama, which was a bit of a letdown. A couple things to note: this place is cash only, and it gets very busy, so expect a bit of a wait. That said, the vibe is nice, and the design of the space is something I actually liked. Would I come back? Probably for sashimi and appetizers but I might skip the rolls next time.

However, expect slow or inconsistent service and just an okay environment. //CONTEXT// Came here on a Friday evening as a party of two. Found a seat immediately //ENVIRONMENT// Honestly the environment felt a bit sad. There was no music, it was super quiet and just not a typical restaurant environment. Even when I ordered I went up and had to write down my order on their receipt lol. //SERVICE// The service was really slow. I understand that rolls take a while to make and they have a lot of takeout orders but I would hope they'd improve based on what they're seeing. Here are some examples: - When we got there, there was another couple who already ordered and was waiting for their food. Three other parties came in and we all got their food before them. This couple never got their food, had to check and then waited more and then just left. We were there for 45 mins before we got there so they were waiting even longer. - Another party got their food before we did and we ordered before them. Also it was interesting in that this person got their order placed with the owner but we had to write our order down - As mentioned it took us about 45 minutes for 3 rolls. I thought this was kind of long. //FOOD// Food was amazing! If you can get past the wait the rolls are so good! They're fresh, tasty and not too large or too small! I got the Akron, Newport, and the Juneau! These were all so good! The tempura and fried soft shell crab was perfectly crispy and not soggy at all. The fish tasted so fresh! The Newport did lack a bit of ponzu. Aside from that these were great rolls Overall, the rolls were good but the service and wait does make me hesitant to come back.

Been going here for several years now - poke has always been solid and the Hawaiian dishes were good not great. But today it was all different - everything was outstanding! Wife got a 2 salmon scoop poke : fish was great as always, but the seasoned potatoes (gamja jorim) she chose as 1 of 3 sides was very good. Dad had the hwae-dupbap (think of it as Korean bibimbap but with poke instead of meat) and the Cho-gochujang sauce was excellent. I had the loco moco and it was better than in the past. Also the banchan with that were fire (seasoned japchae noodles, spicy shredded radish) both better than in the past They sell most of the side dishes as banchan and as a Korean I fully endorse them. I am a huge Korean banchan snob and I will absolutely countersign their cooking I don't know what's going on but like I said - everything tastes better than before. The ajumma who runs the place said business is getting slower as the economy is imploding so let's support this awesome local business so we can keep this place around.
