Desiring a matcha latte I decided to switch it up a bit and go for the matcha milk tea at Hachiko. What can I say? The ordering was super easy and fast. There was a bit of a wait due to the young man who took my order forgetting to ask a few questions, but once the lady who was making all the drinks realized what had happened she quickly and expertly righted the situation. Everyone was so nice here! Just super pleasant! And the matcha milk tea was superb! I ordered it at 50% sweetness which was just perfect. It had a brilliant matcha flavor, a pleasant creaminess, and a lovely proper color. I was quite impressed! Only downside is not really Hachiko's problem but just the layout of the airport terminal. It can be very easy to get caught in someone else's path as it is at a pinch point with the main C terminal gates, the entrance to the train, and the much narrower hall with more gates. The C terminal tends to be my least favorite because of this but at least restaurants like Hachki-ko makes this a nice stop. read more

The chicken itself was a good size and it was juicy and crispy. The bun was amazingly soft and buttery. I also appreciated the spicy miso sauce as it added a lot of flavor and prevented the sandwich from being dry. I ordered the yakisoba bowl with chicken. The bowl was a large portion and very tasty. For the $3 surcharge I got about a pound of excellent broiled seasoned chicken. Price is up but quality is down. Their grilled chicken fried rice used to be my go to when traveling through SeaTac. It's now a whopping $21 if you add the chicken for $3. There is no longer any veggies other than green onions, frozen peas and carrots. They serve less in albeit a much more earth friendly container. But the worst is that the rice has no flavor. The texture is soggy and gone is the beautiful char on the rice and the chicken. I might try the yakisoba next time but maybe not. The space that Hachi-ko occupies in Concourse C used to be Waji's. The menus of both restaurants are pretty similar, that it seems like the only change was the name. The menu here is Pan-Asian, with a few Hawaiian items. Since the changeover, prices have escalated and I really can not justify paying almost $20 for teriyaki. The only item that I find myself ordering here anymore is the Portuguese sausage, eggs and rice for breakfast. But the price has jumped on that dish to almost $13, which is way too steep when Uwajimaya sells the same item for $6. I think the food is decent, but I can not justify paying the high prices. read more

For airport food, I thought the curry that I ordered was delicious. It's a given that airport food is generally expensive but if you're hungry, you'll just have to pick whatever that's worth the price and possibly the line. I've only stopped by the Seattle-Tacoma airport a few times but it was a first for me to run into Hachi-ko since I've never been near this gate. I feel like most of the options I pass by in airports offer American food like sandwiches or coffee which is convenient but when I'm starving, I want something more appetizing and reminds me of home so when I see Asian food, I gravitate towards it. The curry is nothing like restaurant quality and actually reminds me of the Golden Curry brand that you can buy from Asian grocery stores. But when you're in an unfamiliar place far from home, there's just something about eating nostalgic Asian food that is comforting. I devoured this immediately as soon as I found a table to sit at. If you happen to want some Asian food and you're around this area at the airport, I would say this is a good place to stop by to get your Asian food fix before you hop on a plane. read more

I know it's the airport, but the prices are ridiculous. I waited about 20 minutes and noticed all the employees just standing around, so I asked how much longer for my food. The guy took my receipt, talked to the guy in the kitchen, and had my food ready within seconds. Apparently they forgot make my $18 meal. If you're traveling through Seattle and need a quick bite at SeaTac airport, Hachi-Ko is one of the least expensive choices that you can make. Keep in mind that you will most likely still be hungry after you finish your meal but give it a few minutes and it should tide you over until you get to where you're going. The flavors are there, I just have never had a teriyaki chicken entree with only one small chicken thigh as the star of the show. Add a small amount of rice and tiny salad and boom! A meal.... or so that's what they offer. It's an airport, you're hungry, they'll take advantage of you at every corner so you might as well get the lesser of all evils. Chicken katsu curry, the warm comforty meal that always hits the spot. Well, not here. The rice was warm, chicken was okay, but the curry was COLD. Ice cold carrots, potatoes that show that this has not been kept at the correct temperature. When I asked about it the staff said "what do you expect me to do".
