On a recommendation of a friend, a group of us decided to go to Tori Sake & Grill for dinner. I didn't know this restaurant existed in Burien. We did 'family style' and ordered chicken karaage, gyoza, yakisoba and many sushi rolls to share among us. Lots of sushi choices. The food was amazing! Service was great. The atmosphere was chill. Glad we started WITH a reservation for this very first visit, as there was a significant stack of waiting customers outside the door, on a Saturday night at 6pm. The table wait was minimal and totally acceptable. The room was simple (a good thing), and the restaurant's popularity made for a busy but relaxed atmosphere. Our greeter/server was efficient and polite. The sushi was surprising good! Perfectly cooked sushi-rice, and well proportioned topping of fish and other ingredients made for enjoyable bites. The sushi chefs are well trained and talented. Definitely recommend sampling their selections of sushi. You won't be disappointed. Five stars for this. Now for the grill part. Yakisoba is usually a grill item, as it's a stir-fried noodle dish, with it's distinctive Japanese flavor profile, and ingredients. Unfortunately, this was a miss. Though the soy-sauce coloring was correct, the flavor profile was not. The amount of beef in it was acceptable, but the other components were a miss. The only vegetable component was shaved-like slices of small zucchini which I could count with one hand. That seemed to treated more like a garnish, than a component of the dish. Had the grill-cook finished it with a drizzle of tonkatsu-sauce, it would've been closer to what was suggested on the menu. They should rename it "pan-fried beef-noodles" instead. Sure wasn't Beef Yakisoba. Other than that, table-side service was excellent, and the sushi was first rate. Just not the "yakisoba", cuz it wasn't. I'm so glad I came back and dined in this time. Service was one of the best I've ever had. Our server Kevin was incredibly kind to us. The menu is pretty big and everything we ordered was a 10/10! The sashimi we had was a huge cut of fish. The specialty rolls they had were my favorite and usually I'm not a fan of them because they are too over powering with the sauce. They load up the rolls with a lot of fish so you get a good balance of everything. The tempura was fried to perfection and super crispy! I am totally coming back here to try other things on the menu! We had an absolutely incredible meal at Tori. The best sushi we've had in Seattle with the most attentive and knowledgeable service. The sashimi was melt in your mouth and the rolls were inventive, yet simple, with incredible, fresh ingredients and expert construction. Props also to their amazing Japanese beer selection. My husband and I love coming to Tori's Bar & Grill the sushi never disappoints! This was a return visit, and once again everything hit. The service is always great, and although the restaurant can get pretty busy, we were lucky this time and were seated quickly. The atmosphere is always good, and the quality of the sushi is consistent every visit. The uni is a standout super fresh and melts in your mouth. Really enjoyed our dinner here! Came with a party of 4 on a busy Friday night. The server Kevin was really kind and attentive. He made our visit really great! We ordered the Rendezvous des amoure, a tempura udon, a few hand-rolls, smoked out and the fatty roller. It was more than enough food to share. Was shocked by how generous the pieces of fish were and all tasted really delicious and fresh. The presentation was beautiful and the food came out quickly, even for being so busy! Our waters were often refilled and hot sake was pouring. Had a wonderful girls night. Kevin even introduced us to other employees as they were closing up, this is such a sweet family establishment. This is my favorite neighborhood sushi place. The flavors always hit and the service is good. They have renovated the place a bit which has increased the look inside. They are quite busy but they are worth the wait. They unfortunately only have the omakase special three times a day so once they are gone they are gone for the day. Wow! What a place--all the stars for Tori Sushi. The minute you step inside you are greeted by the friendliest staff ever. We were served top notch by Jeanette--FABULOUS!!! They take such pleasant and attentive care of you, your order and anything you might need. We had the sea salt edamame to start with some hot sake. The attention to detail is amazing--they even placed a napkin holder tightly around the hot sake so it's easy to handle. We then had TNT and Hamachi Hooray--both fantastic. Wr had an amazing dinner last night at Tori Sake & Grill! It was a our first time being there and greatly enjoyed everything we had. We started with $5 Asahi which seriously cannot be beat! (Except by the $5 Kirin and $10 Orion tall boys also offered). Then we enjoyed a round of gyoza, which was also a steal at 8pcs for $6. Yes please. Finally we had to choose from their massive maki roll list. I mean, c'mon. That list is insane. Everything sounded good. Somehow we chose 3 rolls and an Oyakodon bowl for mains. My Black Widow roll was crazy delicious. The beet flakes are such a fun addition and so unique. My brother's Oyakodon was super peppery and we all stole a bite. He took half home and enjoyed it as breakfast this morning. Our server may have been the owner. Unsure, but she was on top of everything and greatest everyone like an old friend. So the ambiance was very welcoming. We fed four people for $100. You just can't do that anymore and I am so happy to have found this spot. We'll be back soon! read more

You treated them very well and they came back with smiles and wonderful stories and my wife and I can't wait to come and visit your restaurant soon. This place is hidden in the Burien neighborhood near Seattle. Understated, low-key but everything cranks up several notches once the food hits the table. Well appointed ordered the chicken yakisoba and the chirashi. Both dishes were excellent. The chirashi in particular was amazing. The fish was so fresh and the rice was perfectly seasoned. Even the miso soup we ordered was way better than average, not just a simple side dish but a well made bowl of simple but delicious ingredients. The service was amazing and on point for a Japanese restaurant. Everything done with a purpose. Even the way they place your meal on the table had meaning. It made for a very authentic experience with attention paid to every detail. The prices are a little on the high side but it is completely worth it. GREAT VALUE IN SUSHI This is Burian's best sushi restaurant for several reasons. First, the portions are big. Our combo tempura appetizer had four shrimp in it, whereas most sushi places only give you two. The ala cart sushi/sashimi menu offers you two nigiri or three sashimi, and the sashimi slices are big, I mean, HUGE! I've never seen anything like it. Look at the picture! Second, the prices for what you get are incredible. My decanter of hot saki was only $8.00, and everything else was very reasonable. and looking for sushi, stop in here. You won't be disappointed The servers are very nice. They always have a smile and a great demeanor. They are responsive for the most part, and our apps and drinks came out promptly. That being said, my only complaint would be that the main courses took a little longer than we expected. It's also time to remove the Christmas decorations. We called ahead and were able to get seated quickly, which ended up being a great move because the place filled up almost immediately after we arrived. Service was a bit of a struggle. It looked like there was only one person (possibly the owner) handling the entire restaurant--bar plus ~8-12 tables. He was kind and clearly hustling, but it made ordering tough. It wasn't easy to flag him down, and we ended up skipping additional dishes simply because we didn't want to wait. Food-wise, the sushi was solid. There are tons of roll options if that's your thing. The sashimi and specials, though, all came pre-sauced, which wasn't really my preference. One dish with Thai chili flavors was close to being great, but had a noticeable truffle oil taste that threw it off for me. Overall, I'd come back if I were nearby, but probably not on a busy night--and not enough to make a dedicated trip. read more

So I did!! Now I am by no means a Sushi Snob in anyway, but holy crud... It was AWESOME!!!! Tori Sake & Grill is a small establishment, very clean and tidy. The staff is very warm and welcoming as well. Four of us came and ate and ate and ate some more until we could do no more. It was AWESOME! The freshness and the flavors were incredible. The presentation was, for me, out of this world! I truly enjoyed every single bite, so did the rest of us! While we chose what we wanted to eat the presentation is what made it all come together. Wish I could give this place a higher ranking because it has so much going for it. The quality of the fish is very good. The garlic butter edamame is delicious (although the portion is about half of what it was when they first opened). The service is really wonderful. But the katsu is... not good. The menu did not indicate that it would be covered with mozerella cheese... which we've never seen of heard of before. The tonkatsu sauce was also unusual, which wasn't expected. That whole dish was unfortunate. So, this is a good place to come if everyone plans on eating sushi/sashimi only. read more
