Welcoming, clean and inviting atmosphere. The Menu The breakfast menu has many good offerings. Traditional breakfast offering and many with a taste of Sunnyside flair. There are vegetarian, gluten free and vegan offerings as well. Cheesy grits seem to find their way as sides on the breakfast and the lunch menu... why because they are good. Lunch has wraps, hot ham and cheese, philly steak, portabella burger, chicken salad and many salads choices. The Experience/Value/Service Scheduled our Newcomers of the Foothills group here for lunch. I was a little concerned because with a group size of 40+ service can be slow... Amazing breakfast/brunch spot! The service is always friendly and thorough. Their new location is much larger and therefore between equipped to deal with the constant high demand! Despite the larger location there are days (Sundays) where the wait is over an hour long and the wait to get your food after ordering can be long as well...you've been warned! Food was great. Had brunch for my daughter's 30th birthday. We started with a large $7 mimosa. We had Huevos Ranchero which had multi colored tortilla chips, scrambled eggs, black beans, Home fries, feta cheese with tinatilli salsa. Frida and Diego Omelet, Pecan Praline French Toast drizzled with raspberry jam. Everything was fantastic. Cheese grits were also delicious. Had a meal catered at my work from SunnySide Cafe. LOVED IT! Decided to try take-out with my parents (because they're not crazy going out during Covid due to their age). WONDERFUL! They loved it as well. We've been back a couple times for take-out. The meals were fresh, they had different offerings than a lot of places that only offer the standard cold sandwich. From the diner guy. We have eaten here 3 times now. First 2 were delicious. 3rd time not so much. Had the Appalachian for the 2nd time. First tome was great. Today was very poor. Over medium eggs were super runny and home fries were boiled potato with zero flavor. An order of toast was one slice and it was burnt. The last times we ate here it wasn't very busy and today was rather busy. My assessment is when the kitchen is busy this place turns into any other place. Hurry up just to get the meal out and quality takes a back seat. Told the waitress, she said she told the kitchen. No manager came over to see us, that was surprising. Service was great, food was one star quality. I cant recall my waitresses name but she was phenomenal, attentive and pleasant. The meal i got was chicken and waffles with a side of bacon. My eggs were luke warm at best, the waffle was soggy, pasty, and cold. The chicken was average breaded tenders and were hot. The home fries were bland. The bacon consisted of 2 pieces of thinly sliced limp luke warm bacon for $3.00. . . Horrible value, i wouldnt pay to eat this food. Whoever decided that putting syrup on someones waffle ahead of time was a great idea should be fired. The mixture of hot and cold items tells me that the kitchen has no clue how to time their plates and made the waffle well in advance. Also the coffee is weak standard diner coffee which i love . . . At a diner . . . When my whole ticket costs $8.00. Skip this place and go to waffle house, their bacon is better and their waffles arent barely thawed. read more

This visit started off a little rocky. The entrance isn't labeled and has a key box lock hanging on the knob so it wasn't obvious that it was open. When I went in, the server repeatedly asked me if I was eating alone - "Just one? No one else?" Yes...lots of people have to eat by themself on business travel. Wasn't super inviting. Looked at the menu and asked for a mimosa and water. No mimosas, despite being on the menu, as they don't have a liquor license yet. Decided on the fried grits cakes with peach compote, cheesy grits and over easy eggs. I probably got some looks from the southern folk, but the eggs were delicious mixed in with the grits! Grits were perfectly cooked, a mix of soft and slightly chewy. The fried grits cakes were great, with a nice caramelized crust on the outside and a good soft interior. They were not noticeably seasoned though, and didn't pair very well with the peach compote. The compote was very sweet, but also had an acrid aftertaste. This warred with the plain taste of the grit cake. Would be much better with a less sweet, fresher peach compote, or swapping out with stewed apples. read more

A great place to grab breakfast in the Clemson area. I had the Bearly Benedict. It consisted of english muffins, fried onions, and over easy eggs with hollandaise sauce and a side of cheesy grits. The benedict was delicious and the fried onions were a unique touch. The cheesy grits were a yummy side as well. My friend had the breakfast bowl and loved it. Stopped here for brunch on a Sunday morning around 11! Be prepared for a decent wait time, we waited around 45 min and I've heard that is the typical wait time. Once we got a table we were right in the sun so it was very hot, but the service and food definitely made up for it! Had the "SOS" which is corned beef brisket, breakfast potatoes, 2 eggs, sourdough bread and gravy. If you are looking for a hearty breakfast, this rich and delicious dish is the way to go! The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and the gravy really brought all the flavors together. I had to order something with gravy after all, I was only in the south for 3 days! Same with the prices - about what you'd expect for what you get. The only thing to be aware of before you go is they won't seat a group until everyone from the group is there. My husband and I were staying at The Inn at Patrick Square, and the staff directed us to try breakfast at SunnySide Cafe two doors down. I can't say how impressed I was by the staff and food! The decor was lacking a bit, but we were there for the food, and we weren't disappointed. I had the biscuits and gravy with home fries and eggs. I asked for my scrambled eggs to be over-cooked to the point of having some brown on them, and the cook prepared them perfectly! The biscuits and gravy and home fries were also delicious and kept me full until past lunch! My husband had the breakfast bowl, but made it non-vegan by substituting the vegan sausage for regular sausage and having home fries instead of grits. He thought it was was good, but wanted to try other things on the menu as well. We were there on a Tuesday and asked for our meals to go to eat in our hotel room (to lessen COVID exposure possibilities). The food came out quickly and piping hot. All staff that we came in contact with were correctly wearing masks and were friendly and wonderful to interact with! Overall, definitely would return! read more

Great place for breakfast. It has a college feel, of course, but also charming enough to get that nice breakfast house atmosphere. We were told the wait was 20 min, but were seated quicker. As soon as I drove into the parking lot i saw a little cafe. This place is adorable on the inside, it felt very comfortable! I got pancakes and they tasted wonderful & the grits were very creamy. In my group of diners, I loved this place the most. I ordered the huevos rancheros (not the most authentic but still tasty). I live far away from home. 400+ miles. I come here when I miss home because it reminds me of when my mom gets really busy in the kitchen, and makes something great. Same kind of music playing, staff is running around trying to make everyone's experience great, and you can hear the kitchen working hard wherever you sit. It's a good place to spend a morning, better with friends, but they have a bar so I don't mind going by myself. Dont be afraid to ask for different things. Their French toast is like a birthday cake, prepare for sugar. Their vegan meals are great, and when I actually got to bring my family here, people who were vegan in my family realized why I love this place. Beware of the Sunday morning rush! Wish we had a great breakfast place in Clemson. We followed the crowds and braved the wait for average brunch fare. My Breakfast Cuban sub had a flavorful but dry pulled pork and chorizo base with two perfectly cooked fried eggs atop. The salsa and avocado aioli were best left off the plate. The home fries were merely diced and seasoned new potatoes served cool. My wife's a tuna melt afficianado and found this one lacking. A grilled English muffin with some grated cheese tossed about and topped with two scoops of cold tuna salad with some pale, wilted salad mix on the side. Once seated, our drinks and service was prompt and friendly. Our server did not charge us for the tuna melt that was not a melt but a salad. Maybe if we'd settled for the traditional eggs and grits dishes, we might have liked it better. Overall will keep looking for that perfect brunch spot in Clemson.This one is not worth standing in line for. read more
