Easily THE best breakfast in the city! I've been coming here for years and it's always been good but the past few months, the food has become amazing!! Don't know if it's a new chef or what but the over easy eggs are perfect, the bacon is crispy but tender and just the right amount of grease to make it flavorful and melt in your mouth! And if you stay away from ordering mimosas-it's about $20 a person for a very large portion of food. Place is always busy during the weekend mornings-only time I've ever gone-and lately the only seats available are at the bar/counter. Service is always great and fast too! Well where do I start - Good - Lots of unique offerings for breakfast, when I eat out I like something that I don't make at home. The room is big so there is no wait. I love the bacon Not So Good- The wood chair was coming apart. I think the next person will fall on the floor. I swapped it out. The buckwheat pancakes were doughy, not what I was expecting. Eggs were ordered over hard and they were runny. Pricey There were four of us so it got a bit expensive. The location is good as it is in South Reno. May give them another try but next time I will send back items not cooked correctly. And get photos next time. read more

After we closed on the sale of my clients home I took her to this breakfast and lunch cafe next to the house that she is about to buy. Lunch was great and the staff was friendly. I love that she was able to find a place even before move in that she can call a go to spot for breakfast lunch or a glass of wine. The food portions are huge! And it was busy so people must love the food. I will say the fish and chips were heavily breaded and a bit greasy but but my clients lamb burger looked AMAZING!! Stopped into Sunrise Café this morning and I'm so glad I did. It's not every day I come across a place in Reno I've never tried before that is this good. The menu alone is worth the visit, especially the lineup of unique Eggs Benedict options with all kinds of creative toppings. I went with the Carnitas Benedict and wow, it was so good, packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. The little fruit cup was anything but little, filled to the brim with fresh, delicious fruit, and my coffee was never empty. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Already looking forward to coming back and trying something new. Highly recommend! read more

Sunrise Café always has a 5/5 star breakfast. I had my favorite, the Chile Relleno breakfast and as usual, it was absolutely delicious. Also, the Holiday Season makes me crave Café de Olla, so I decided to have some today. Café de Olla is a traditional Mexican coffee made with cinnamon, Piloncillo (unrefined Solid Cane sugar) and other spices. If you have never tried it I highly recommend it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the unique flavors. Of course the service at Sunrise is also excellent and the restaurant always feels cozy. Went here on a Sunday for brunch with my friend and what a treat! The place was very busy with patrons but we were greeted with a smile and promptly seated. The ambiance is typical cafe style with a comfortable vibe. We both ordered the mimosa flight/sampler. We were able to choose four different flavors from their expansive list of over ten options, including choices like lavender, hibiscus, pomegranate and guava. The flights were perfectly presented (see pics) and garnished with fresh fruit. Yummy. I think the lavendar was my favorite. I ordered the special that day which was two pork tamales served with two eggs, beans, sour cream and pico de gallo. Delicious! The tamales were generously filled with pork and covered in a tasty green sauce. Food delicious very well seasoned carne asada, eggs cooked correctly, only downfall was beans and potatoes left a little bit under seasoned, but the protein and the customer service made it easy to overlook the under seasoned sides. Specialty coffees amazing especially the cafe de olla took me back to when I use to live in Ensenada Baja California, sweet, very aromatic, and a slight bitterness made the coffee like traditional Mexican coffee, very desirable. Would recommend coming back and trying their lunch menu since breakfast was so good, not too much light made the ambiance feel more private and homey like you would feel in your abuelitas house. read more

Sunrise cafe is has pretty good food, and an okay atmosphere, but the prices are a little out of sync with my expectations. I was debating between a few things to order, and when I mentioned that I was interested in chilaquiles the server helpfully told me that they were doing a special chilaquiles. I ordered them, excited for something new. They were really good, a decent mix of crunchy, and saucy chips, the chicken served with it was good, and not dry, and the sauce was perfectly spicy, and rich in flavor. The eggs unfortunately were not very good. I didn't know the price when I ordered, but I assumed that it would be around $18, a few dollars more than the standard chilaquiles, but at $25 for the special chilaquiles I was in a little shock. Sunrise seems like a great place for people in the area, and I would probably go back if I was on my way to the lake, but I don't think I will be heading out of my way to go again. read more

I just happened to see this restaurant when I was in town. From the moment I walked in everything went perfectly. All the seats seating as well the arranged and the ambience is calm. The food is very well priced and artistically arranged on the plate. I had the eggs Benedict and it was fantastic. I can always expect a consistent, tasty and hearty breakfast here at Sunrise Cafe. Ive only been here a couple time but definitely never leave hungry! I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs and the dish overall was great but that gravy was very flavorful and delicious, definitely makes me want to get the biscuits and gravy next time. My wife got the Chile Relleno plate and it was also super delicious. We are usually picky about our chile rellenos and these one were very good. A relaxing Sunday breakfast, just in our neighborhood! I have always been at the next door gym wondering and also smelling the yummy breakfast fares at this restaurant next door, and we finally decided to give this local South Reno joint a try, and it did not disappoint! We were craving a good, simple pancake breakfast, and Sunrise Cafe delivered. My husband opted for the regular pancake, and I upgraded my pancake platter to a Buckwheat pancake stack. We both got scrambled eggs and opted for the applewood smoked bacon, which was delicious! Both meals came with a side of cantaloupe that was so sweet and refreshing after the meal we had. I also had a cup of joe to top it off, pretty good too. We also were seated very quickly, which is rare in popular breakfast joints. Especially on a Sunday morning! My friend and I were hungry after snowshoeing so we decided to try Sunrise Cafe about 30 minutes before closing time and I am glad that we did. Service was top notch- the ladies working that afternoon made sure that we were checked on often. The food came out quickly and was just as described. Our coffees were delicious. The cafe has an open feel to it with a lot of windows and a variety of seating choices. It didn't feel cramped or squeezed together like some cafes do. Food can be very good or can be hit and miss. They recently took away the Senior menu and have raised the prices again. Now making eating out here much more expensive. Then they throw on a credit card fee and you have a very pricey meal. Drink prices are not posted on board at front, so you don't know until you get surprised by the bill. $6.50 for regular coffee is outrageous for a coffee shop. Time to make breakfasts at home and bypass the $30 breakfasts. read more

We have been here several times and every time has been great. We come with 5 people and the service is quick and attentive, always polite. They have great specials and this time we did the flight of mimosas which were Christmas themed like the Grinch, Jack Frost, Christmas Mosa and the Lavender. I had the steak omelette and it was fantastic. They don't skimp on how they cook the steak, it's phenomenal. The hash browns are freshly made and one of our favorite parts of the breakfast. I recommend the Carnita Benedict (comes with chipotle hollandaise sauce); it's delicious! Staff is always attentive and polite. A few other breakfast things are not made to my tastes (huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, beans are too firm), but if you know what to order you'll be happy.
