Where do I even begin? I think it's safe to say I eat here almost 4 times a week, I cannot get enough. I can already feel this this review not doing Sunrise Cafe justice. The moment you walk in you get a welcoming air of homeyness; this location is far from the cookie-cutter restaurants which sit at the end of the corner of the block. The menu is spread across the walls behind the cash-register - with a plethora of items you probably cannot find elsewhere; for such a small joint, their menu shows bigness. Their menu serves to many palates: Mediterranean, American, Italian, Persian, Vegetarian, Vegan - you name it and they've probably got it. Breakfast is served throughout the day - which is one of my favorites at Sunrise. They serve a mean egg & cheese on croissant. Excuse me, I need to grab a napkin before my computer short circuits from drool. You think it sounds too simple to be gushing over? Clearly you've never had it before. Agreeing with the girl who reviewed earlier, lunch at Sunrise is like a field trip for the taste buds. Where on earth would you like to land today? How about mouth first in the middle east, with a whopping chicken kabob, with grilled vegetables, and a side of rice? Weary about the middle east? No worries. How about Greece? Wrap your taste buds around a beautifully wrapped gyro. Not in the mood for tzatziki sauce? What about a delicious Italian Sausage sub? Perfectly seasoned and grilled Tilapia? B-B-Q chicken? Creamy Hummus wrap? Corned-beef Reuben? Deli-Sandwich of choice? Veggie burgers? IT NEVER ENDS. I work in an office building a block away, and as little as this may seem to others... nothing is more awesome than having the best lunch at work. Beat that brown-baggers, beat that. Take a trip around the world on your lunch break! Ahhh...something for everyone here at Sunrise Cafe. Except for maybe, healthy people. I did see they had a hummus-salad something-or-other. I didn't captivate me like their gyro did! I give this gyro a solid B+. I will have to go back and try that really heart-healthy looking philly cheesesteak they had a picture of. The seating area could've been a lot cleaner and the service could've had much more of a smile, but that's ok. I'll do without for some cheap, artery-cloggin' lunch. read more

If you're in the mood for a quick, cheap breakfast this is the place. I had a breakfast sandwich and my husband had their special that included two eggs, two pancakes, and bacon. It's not fancy but it's cheap and fast - that's why I give it 5 stars. There is limited seating inside but if the weather is nice they have outdoor seating. read more

This is one of my favorite places to get breakfast in DC. There breakfast steam table is also good. They have grits,pancakes,french toast, scrapple, oatmeal, wraps, fruit, bagels. The usual breakfast staples. I don't care for the lunch specials, but I am very picky about my deli sandwiches, so that is no insult to them. The buffet items are usually consistently good. The rice and noodle dishes are always a good choice, the Mongolian beef is also very good. read more

Since I pass by sunrise cafe almost everyday I've grabbed a lot of breakfast items from here. My favorite is the egg and cheese sandwich. What is most appealing about this place is the variety of sandwiches, wraps, and subs they offer and make fresh every day. Additionally, they serve pizza, pasta, salad, and kabob. read more

This place is amazing! A literal "hole in the wall" but the biscuits and gravy are off the charts tasty. French toast is also super delicious. Also, the breakfast sandwiches are great. Basically, this place is terrific. read more

This place has the best breakfast food around the area! They make everything fresh, they crack the egg as you order, and the pancakes are the best I've ever had. I've gotten the breakfast sandwiches and the platters. All were very hot when they handed it to me so you know its fresh! The home fries are very delicious too. The only downsides I can think of is that they have bad fans in there so even if you stand inside for 5 minutes waiting for food, you'll leave the place smelling like fried eggs. Its kind of small inside, but they accommodate with outdoor seating, which is even better. You can enjoy your delicious morning meal while people watching or reading whatever you prefer in the morning. Its right by the Farragut metro station so it is always busy there (further proving why its perfect for people watching). I would get food from them more often if I didnt have work to go to afterwards. I dont want my coworkers to sniff me and wonder why I smell like fried eggs and garlic! I do wish they would stay open a little later each day too. Sometimes when I miss the chance to grab breakfast from them before work, I crave breakfast food for dinner and I would love to grab that on my way home from work! read more

Took the kids on a recent visit. I watched my son devour his French toast and his sisters pancakes. When finished, he wiped his mouth and informed us that, "this place is good" Met a fellow Hoosier and enjoyed a good cup of coffee. So this place was great, in my opinion. I'm impressed. We chose this place for breakfast based on other reviews and the need for a fast breakfast. We ordered a couple omelets and a breakfast sandwich. Everything was cooked perfectly. I really loved Sunrise Cafe for a quick breakfast. Keep in mind, that it is a mostly to-go place because there is no seating indoors and the space itself is very small. There are tables outside where people can eat when the weather is nice. I got a croissant with egg, cheese, and bacon. The egg and bacon were cooked perfectly and I had absolutely no complaints. I used to come here every now and then for breakfast but they raised their prices and the portions have gotten a lot smaller. It's okay, average takeout food and I don't think the price justifies what you get. They're still always really nice though. read more

Small and hot inside. Only four tables outside. Breakfast was mediocre and overpriced. Only two people working - one taking orders and money and yelling out the orders to the girl working the grill. Unfortunately, I've recently gone vegan so I don't have many options anymore besides maybe bagels and pancakes. Otherwise, this place is great.
