We stopped at this little coffee place on our way to Waimea Canyon. It's ticked away along a main road and set up in a food truck. There were picnic tables set up throughout the property so there was ample seating for those who wanted to sit and enjoy their food and drinks. There was only one person working there, but she did an awesome job taking and preparing orders. She was also so sweet and friendly! We ordered four drinks and an açaí bowl. My son works at a coffee house in CA and he gave thumbs up for everything we ordered. Definitely go and support this little business when you're in Lihue or just passing through!

$70 for a quick snack but super cute place and tasty!! Açaí bowl was delicious and refreshing! Try the Guava orange juice. Ordered a bagel and a doughnut and both warmed up hot and fresh! Avocado toast was Hula Hula good!!

Loved the variety of options at this little food truck tucked away off the highway. The coffee is a darker roast if that's your vibe. Finding a golden milk latte was a good way to start my day! No maple syrup but they do have honey or vanilla syrup to sweeten it. There's plenty of outdoor seating if you want to stop and stay a while. And the service was outstanding.

Sunrise Cafe is in such a convenient location right off the main road, making it the perfect quick stop. The coffee was absolute perfection, and the açaí bowl was hands down the best one I've had on the island so far. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient. The vibes at this little truck were perfect relaxed, welcoming, and exactly what you want while enjoying a great breakfast stop.

Stopped by for coffee on Christmas Eve morning bc the place looked so cute when we drove by. I had to get something from the Christmas menu of course. Ordered the candycane latte. The girls begins the counter were super friendly. My coffee was ready quickly and we walked around to check out the place. Would love to have tried more things here. Great vibes. Great aloha. Great coffee and matcha, but not a fan of the location or price . Visited on our way to Kauai Backyard adventures( coffee spot is 2 mins away) for a little pre adventure pick me up. Location is off a busy road and at a curve so keep an eye out or you'll miss it. Cute little coffee trailer with good amount of parking and outside sitting area if you order food and wanna eat or enjoy coffee there. Service was nice but nothing over the top. Iced Caramel vanilla latte and lilikoi match were both tasty and perfect balance of sweetness. Now the price... a little bit crazy, 2 drinks $18 and some change. They charge base price please extra for flavor AND milk of choice. Glad we tried.

This place is definitely my top three coffee stops on the island. The menu is extensive and there's really nothing you can think of that's not on there. Luckily, we were there in September so we got to try their seasonal fall beverages. They have my fave macadamia nut milk instead of regular milk so that's always a treat. I spent the last two years thinking about their avocado toast. And I'm happy to report a taste just as good as it did. It's very generous on the avocado and the seasoning really makes it. The girls in the truck are super nice. Very helpful at explaining the different options and helping you decide which drink to choose. It's a little stop off the road so if you're driving too fast, you might miss it. And be sure to say hi to the kitty cat.

Cute little coffee truck on the side of the road that I passed by multiple times so I had to give it a try. I ordered a specialty latte and was excited to try it but unfortunately it wasn't that great. The service was okay and the place itself was a cute vibe but the coffee didn't do it for me. I'm a huge coffee drinker and have tried a lot of coffee so I am picky when it comes to drinks. Might give them another try and taste something else, maybe it was just a one off.

Very cute coffee stand! I got the banana matcha latte. Great service. Drinks came out quickly. Minus one star because the Kirkland brand oat milk was very overpowering and I couldn't taste much of the matcha.

To the side of the road going to Lihue side. I always get excited to try new coffee, so when I saw they had a s'mores flavor I knew I had to get it. Anyway, we arrived in the morning, had no line no customers waiting. So I stood at the order window. The ladies saw me, but didn't acknowledge or anything. I was ready to give my order, but waited for like 5 mins for them to actually come to the window to take my order. When we finally got our order, the açaí bowl was filled. My daughter really enjoyed the bowl she couldn't finish it. She liked how it didn't have nuts too. The s'mores coffee was eh :/ Wasn't iced enough, not sweet, & mainly milky. I couldn't taste the s'mores flavor at all. It was pricey, spent about $28 for just two items. Service wasn't good. So if I had to come back, it would be for the açaí bowl mainly.

Bagels and coffee hit the spot. Iced Vanilla Macadamia with whipped cream, toasted everything bagel with cream cheese and to my surprise a bagel with cream cheese and pesto. You taste something new everyday! Delicious! Service was efficient and very hospitable. We will visit again before we leave! Just don't blink, you might miss it!

The macadamia nut milk vanilla matcha I had was very good! Not too sweet and the flavors were lovely. We also decided to get a churro donut. Unfortunately, it was not a hit. The dough was quite dense and dry- not really a donut. My girlfriend also said she didn't like it. We know they fry their donuts in coconut oil and we're quite open-minded when it comes to healthy foods and how they taste but this was just too dry. You had to drink something after every bite...

Loved all the food and coffee we got here! We came for a breakfast and my husband and I both got the mac nut latter with mac nut milk (one hot and one iced)! They were both delicious. a little food truck on the side of the road! the coffee itself was okay. i had a coco moco latte with coconut milk, and my bf had the macadamia nut vanilla latte with macadamia nut milk. my drink was pretty good, but the mac nut vanilla latte was very bland and didn't have much taste. we also ordered an acai bowl and monkey toast! the acai bowl was amazing and to die for. the monkey toast was pretty good, but maybe needed chocolate or something a little sweeter. when we got there, the girl working was getting slammed with orders but she was super friendly and gave us excellent service. the place is very cutesy and "instagram worthy." overall i'd give it a 7/10 or 8/10. on the pricier side! read more

Stopped here when we were driving up to the north side of the island for the day. Very good and strong coffee. Unfortunately the donut truck was closed when we stopped. If it were closer to where we were staying we would've stopped again! read more

Saw this place driving by to see a waterfall and it looked so cute I had to stop and get a coffee! Ruth and Yuki that are there every time I went (3 times during my trip) are so so nice and play the best music while you're waiting for your coffee! Perfect stop for a quick coffee and breakfast before hopping on a flight. We had bagels, avocado toast, smoothies, and delicious donuts! These ladies are running hands-down the best local coffee truck - and their music and smiles turned around our disappointing morning! All the local spots in South Shore had crazy long lines, so we had to skip our dreams of açaí bowls for breakfast in order to make our helicopter tour flight. We drove to Lihue only to find out our tour was cancelled due to weather. Yelp to the rescue and we found this amazing little local's spot that served fab açaí bowls and iced coffee! The bowls were stuffed full and highly recommend adding the goji berry's, coconut and chocolate chips as toppings. The owner was so nice, she was jamming to Phil Collins and we bonded over our love for his art. Many regulars showed up and several tourists mentioned they had come back every day - truly a sign of a hidden gem. Go here for great smiles, great vibes, great music and amazing, quality experience! read more

Cute place. I got macadamia nut latte and my husband got cold brew. Both were pretty good. We also got acai bowl and avocado toast. Acai bowl was really good. The only turn off for this place was that the avocado toast was burnt (black), and they tried to cover it up by putting avocado on that burnt side. read more

Stay away! This is an overhyped place. Food is just ok and definitely not worth the $15+. We had the Acai bowl and it was mediocre. I expect Acai bowls to be refreshing and this wasn't it. Coconut flakes used were stale/from a packet and not fresh. The Acai sorbet was way too cold and did not feel home-made. You get way better Acai bowls at Java Kai in Kappa town. The service is not great honestly. I bought 2 donuts and the lady refused to give me a to go box because I didn't buy 4 donuts! Seriously, I just spent over $50 with you guys and you're gonna nickel and dime me over a togo box? Also, they don't have any fork or spoons. Who doesn't carry forks and spoons? The lady's response was "you can eat with your hand". Thank you, I didn't know that after 40 years of living. The reason I asked for a fork and spoon is because my hands are dirty and i dont want to touch my food! The only cute/appealing thing about this place is the offbeat location and the food trucky ambience. I highly recommend that the owner, if you're reading yelp reviews, reconsider your food pricing and adjust it to reflect quality or step up the game wrt food quality. Excellent coffee and great service. Many drink options for those who do not want something coffee related. Right next door to a stand that can make homemade fresh donuts is certainly a plus and I recommend that you try that as well. Prices are similar to other coffee stands on the island and we will certainly head back to this stand later on. read more

I stopped by here earlier today with my wife for my morning coffee. We had been to sunrise coffee a couple of days prior but their espresso machine was down for maintenance. So instead of a non espresso drink, we opted to come back another day. Sunrise coffee is located right on the hill of the Kuhio Highway near the Wailua Falls turn off and is a small place with a couple of outdoor seats. On the day that we were there, there were two women working inside. After looking at the menu I decided to go with one of their specialty lattes and chose the vanilla Mac nut latte and then my wife and I opted to split an everything bagel with cream cheese. Our coffee was ready a couple of minutes later and the bagel a few minutes after that. I first ate the bagel which was your usual everything bagel, toasted, and with cream cheese. It was exactly what you would expect and tasted pretty good, especially since the bagel was warm. As for the coffee itself, well, when it was all combined it tasted pretty good with some sweetness from the vanilla and then some nuttiness from the Mac nut milk. What I didn't exactly care for was the coffee which came across as bitter. I got that flavor both at the beginning of the drink and then again at the very bottom. So I am not sure if the coffee was that way, or if it was over extracted or something else. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. My wife and I both enjoyed our bagel and while I wanted to like the coffee and did enjoy the vanilla flavoring and Mac nut milk, the coffee itself was quite bitter. read more

This place was so dang cute! The donuts were delicious but make sure you get there early because they sell out of flavors quick. Service was okay...they were busy and it showed. Got an açaí bowl, avocado toast, chocolate donut, chai latte, iced americano (really wanted an iced coffee but that's what they had even though the menu said they had cold brew.) it was $$ but not really any different from anywhere else on the island. This is a cute little coffee shop on the side of the road that I wanted to stop at for coffee. They also have açai bowls and avocado toast! My açai bowl was good, and I got the macadamia nut vanilla latte with coconut milk which had been recommended :) there was a bit of a line and a wait for the coffee and açai bowl. I am a full time barista and I was very excited to try this coffee shop that I found on my way to wailua falls. The place is really cool, they have lots of options for milk and breakfast as well. But I got very disappointed when I tasted my coffee. I got a mocha, and I barely tasted the espresso, and chocolate as well. That was very milky, and pricey! Loved my latte ( lots of non dairy options ) and my açaí bowl was delicious ( maybe the best iv had anywhere). Next time I'm trying the avocado toast. Young women working behind the counter were sweet as can be. I accidentally ordered my husband a " venti" coffee instead of saying " large". The young woman working there sweetly said " I'm so sorry but I don't speak Starbucks". lol - this is even more of a reason to love the place- it's the anti Starbucks. Such a cute little coffee truck that's tucked into a cozy nook on the side of the road. The staff/owners were super friendly! We went here a couple times and ordered their açaí bowl, which was delicious. Their coffee is also super tasty with a variety of options in terms of lattes and syrups. My husband loved their coffee of the day both times. They also have savory breakfast options that we did not get to try but I don't doubt that they would be tasty as well. read more

The woman was sadly rude and short with us, citing 3 separate times she was about to close but the sign didn't say that and when we tried to rush and order items we tried smoothie or Frappuccino etc refusing to make certain items but how were we to know what she would or wouldn't have time to make? People who come here are mostly drawn to the aesthetics of this place. Their customer base is mostly tourists. However appealing the location looks, the coffee drinks are a HUGE disappointment. The macnut latte and sweet cream cold brew had no coffee taste and was watery with no flavor whatsoever. It was so bad that I ended up throwing out majority of my drink. Also, no prices were posted on the menu boards - we ended up paying ~$19 (incl. tip) for two small coffee drinks. I don't mind spending good money for a quality product/service but this place isn't it. Go spend your money elsewhere like Eden coffee! read more

During our most recent trip to Kauai, we went to our favorite little local breakfast spot in Lihue, known as Tip Top. Fun Fact #1: Tip Top has been around for over 100 years (yeah! Anywho... that morning we drove into Lihue and pulled into the Tip Top parking lot just like we do every trip to Kauai. But this visit, as we approached the front door, there was a sign posted at the entrance saying something along the lines of: "Sorry, No coffee today". Now I don't know about you, but you don't wanna see me without my morning brew. Of course, this didn't detour us from having a delicious breakfast at our favorite little hole on the wall. (Check out Tip Top if you want to eat with the locals) So as soon as breakfast was over, we got back in the rental car and went on Yelp to find us a place to get coffee. And after my wife scrolled for a few minutes looking at the different coffee shops nearby, she suddenly exclaimed: "oh this place looks cute!" In my head, my exact thought was ... "cute?". I don't want cute! I want caffeine, Lots of caffeine! But I was desperate. I didn't care if the place was cute or not, I just wanted coffee Stat! The drive from Tip Top was less than 2 minutes before we pulled into the Parking lot of Melrose. Initial impression: is this place even open? There were windows, but they were all covered and you couldn't see inside. Me: Oh great, it looks closed. Are we gonna have to settle for McDonalds coffee across the street? My wife: Just go check. Yelp says they're open. So I walk up, anxiously hoping for the best and..... To my surprise, they were open. Ok, this is where it went from good to GREAT! We walked in and my first thought (fellas don't judge) (ladies, I finally get it) The place was soooo CUTE!!! Haha Yeah, it was 1/2 Boutique (apparel, accessories, gifting) And 1/2 coffee shop/café. And of course, beautiful roses throughout. The 2 young ladies behind the counter were so sweet, kind and made us feel so welcomed. While looking at coffee menu to see what we wanted, we were offered a sample of their collagen melon milk frozen concoction. Ho. Lee. Crap. This stuff was ridiculously delicious, so you know we had to get ourselves a full size one for the kids to share. In addition we got a Miss Melrose (iced) and a Mocha Melrose (hot) for my mother-in-law waiting in the car with the kids. All drinks were out of this world and definitely made with love! Speaking of Love... Their straws are pink and are HEART SHAPED!!! Yeah, this place didn't leave any detail out. Everything from the product they sell (the coffee and merchandise in the boutique), the whole vibe this space gives off, and of course the kind hearted staff they employ here... Melrose, you deserve every star I'm giving you! It was too bad we had just come from breakfast, otherwise we totally would have eaten here because everything looked/sounded so good from their bakery menu. We liked it so much, we decided to stop in a few days later when we were passing through Lihue and realized this time, they were actually closed (closed on Sundays). Thankfully for us, Kauai is our home away from home in our hearts and we have been so blessed to be able to come back so often and share this special place with our kids. Melrose know this... We will 1000% be coming back and know that every person I talk to that's going to Kauai, I will pass on the good word about your shop. I wish you nothing, but success until me see you again. Mahalo!

Just updating to laugh about the time and energy the owner puts in to arguing with the customers and telling them their experiences aren't real lol. Always a red flag for a business when this is how owners respond. I'd recommend they calm down and just own up to the bad experiences. It takes 10 seconds to just say, oh wow, we are so sorry you had that experience, it's not typical for us so please come give another try next time you're in town. Sunrise Coffee is a fantastic spot! I had a latte with oat milk, and it was absolutely perfect - smooth, creamy, and full of flavour. The highlight of our visit was meeting their adorable resident cat, Rosie, who added such a charming touch to the experience.
