Brought my brother here--crab benedict was the star! Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly saucy. Sausage and French toast were just okay. Solid 4 stars, will be back to try more!

This is the proverbial greasy spoon! Wait staff friendly. Breakfast OK. Ordered 1 egg, grits, bacon and toast. They use good bread for the toast but they put too much butter on it and made it soggy. This place needs a good cleaning. Ceiling fans and AC vents need cleaned badly. Counter seats in desperate need of repair (see photo) Not sure I will return when I'm back in town. Counter seats in desperate need of repair.

Sunrise Diner 365 W. Cocoa Beach Cswy. Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 2.5 Stars The name staring back at me from my random name generator caused a rueful smile to creep across my lips. This occurred because in a prior life from 1999-2001 I literally ate breakfast here every morning. This is a testament to how long this place has been in operation. However, as good as they once were, just viewing their name has become a dissight for they have gone severely downhill since the glory days of my youth. Sunrise Diner in Cocoa Beach has joined the list of once-great restaurants that have given up. Literally. Allie is my server and is one of the most honest pro's out there. You know you can trust your server when they tell you what to avoid. In this case, Allie told me not to order the biscuit. With that in mind, I did ask for some Moussaka and some Corned Beef Hash, eggs and potatoes. Looking around and taking a few pictures, I was saddened by how empty the joint had become. What was once a thriving, humming local hot spot had become a barren, dried-up desert void of all but a few stalwarts or the uninitiated. Allie soon returned with my grub and after grabbing some shots of that, prepared to get to work. First up was the Moussaka. I ask that you take a gander at the picture of said dish. It looked horrid. It tasted horrid. It was horrid. I don't know how you screw up a dish as simple and standard as this, but screw it up someone did. The sauce was just nasty. Maybe too much sugar or not enough herbs. I'm not sure, but I am sure it didn't sit well on my palate. Moving on to the Corned Beef Hash, eggs and potatoes. While this wasn't nearly as bad as the Moussaka, or what passed as such here, it wasn't anything to text Mom about. The eggs were cooked to order and tasty. The Beef Hash, while obviously out of a food service industrial-sized can, was executed properly and the potatoes were freshly sliced. If I had only ordered the Moussaka, this would have been a 1-star or maybe even a Swill Alert. This was the saving grace and it was slightly below average. That should tell you all you need to know about how far down this place has sunk. The Big Boy says, "There is much better Moussaka and eggs within 3 miles of this place. Go there. This place is yuck."

Made a quick detour to Sunrise diner. As a matter a fact, we were trying to find a different one and bumped into this place with our rental car. Walking in you get that diner feel, and see that obviously this is a place locals go to, so you know it's going to be good. The servers are helpful in letting you know what to get if you're stuck, for the grits our server let us know that the locals have it with; pepper, butter, and put it over the egg. I tried it and was hooked! The catfish is really really good, fresh, and the breading doesn't take away from the filet. The biscuits though good, didn't quite meet up to my expectations. Overall a great little breakfast (served all day!) spot to have a taste of local cuisine.

Cute little place that is a taste of old Florida. Locally owned with a real owner who stops by and checks on the food. Been coming here for about 4 years. Fresh squeezed OJ and large portions they leave you ready for the day.

Asked for eggs over medium both plates, both were to slimmie. The plate closes to you the potatoes were under cooked. The biscuits in the gravy were burnt on bottom. Bread was not toasted enough.

Gyro and Salmon filet (which was served with loaded potato soup too)

Allie was honestly fantastic. She was super accommodating and attentive, but never in a way that felt like too much. She checked on us at all the right times and made us feel taken care of without hovering. She really knew the menu too, which I always appreciate. When we asked for suggestions, she gave thoughtful recommendations that ended up being exactly right for what we were in the mood for. What meant the most to me as a mom was how patient she was with our kids. She listened to every order (and all the little modifications that come with kids ), and the food came out exactly how we asked for it -- which tells me she was really paying attention. In today's world, it feels like genuinely good service is harder and harder to find, especially when you're traveling. So when you do get it, it stands out. Thank you, Allie, for taking such great care of our family and helping make our little getaway that much more enjoyable. You truly renewed my faith in the service industry.

I made a reservation for 6 at 1:30 pm on Mother's Day. When we arrived, we waited 10 -15 minutes in the host line before we were greeted. This, coupled with the fact there were lots of empty tables that had not been bussed, let me know that the restaurant was not equipped to handle the volume of customers and was in the weeds. When we told the host we were a party of 6 with a reservation, he seemed surprised and distraught - immediately leaving to bus one of the tables. A quality restaurant would have expected us and had our table prepared prior to our arrival. Multiple people in our party mentioned the host's frantic demeanor. I don't blame him - it was clear the restaurant was overwhelmed, despite so many empty tables. Was the kitchen backed up? We were sat at the table and the server was very pleasant - a very nice woman. She brought out the water - tap water which smelled and tasted a little funny. I would have expected filtered or bottled water, especially when the tap water quality was poor. At this point, given the above, we decided to leave. If the experience up to this point was not up to par, we didn't want to take our chances. We've seen too many Kitchen Nightmares episodes to take the risk. Chaos in the front of house is normally correlated to chaos in the back. Hopefully the restaurant takes our constructive criticisms to heart and tries to make some improvements. The buck starts with the management.

We were not so welcomed by the hostess for not having a reservation when I saw a total of three tables occupied on a Saturday night. Okay, whatever you say lady! When we asked for a table by the window, a large sigh / grunt was given. Let me check with the manager she stated. Okay...perhaps a grand event was taking place at 6pm on a Saturday..wedding reception perhaps! ... she came back and showed us to a table in the middle of the restaurant with window viewing. Apparently that was her compromise. Upon receiving the menu, we were a little taken back at the prices. I felt like we should be at Ruth Chris. A couple that was departing the restaurant stopped by our table and stated in a very pleasant but assertive manner, "Leave while you still can!" We thought they were joking. We sat there for another 10 minutes..no server in sight. Looking around at the only two tables occupied, as well as the looks upon their faces of agitation and unhappiness... we decided to bail! I still leave the three stars for the M-Th happy hour at the Bar!
