I ordered the Flankenstein (eggs Benedict over flank steak) and was perfect! The Vidalia Peach Onion hot sauce that comes with it sets this Benedict over the top of the rest of them. Also had some of the creamiest goat cheese grits you could ask for. You can take a bottle of the Vidalia Peach home for $7.50 which we did because it went great on the home fries too. My wife ordered the Monte Cristo, my daughter's got the waffle sandwich with berries and a mickey mouse pancake which is always a win for the little ones. It's a Boone classic ~ mountain cabin vibes and staple brunch foods. The Eggs Benedict hit the spot, but one very big complaint is that they are now charging $1.50 for hot sauce. Totally absurd~ you can nearly buy a bottle of hot sauce for that. read more

Where to even begin? First, the Bourbon Street Benny Benedict was life changing. Cooked to perfection. The eggs were poached perfectly, the hollandaise flavorful and cooked beautifully. The biscuit LITERALLY melt in my mouth. I wanted to badly to steal the plate from my friend. The mountain man was a great way to start the day. The gravy and biscuit were a beautiful combination. The bacon cooked perfectly. The egg nicely scrambled and the pancakes were so wonderful. The staff were amazing. Our waitress, Shakari, was wonderful and extremely attentive. Both my friend and I had great service and a great meal! Overall Experience: Ive been living in Boone for a little over a year and have always seen Sunrise Grill and today I decided I wanted to try it out! I went around 11 am and the parking lot was pretty empty and started to fill up around noon. Pretty clean only a mask on the floor . I enjoyed the first impression of COVID safety, once you arrive you must stand outside and wait for the host to come grab you to enter. I appreciate the mandated masks in order to keep not only ourselves but the employees safe. We where seated immediately and our server was extremely kind! She seemed very informed on not only the menu but the stuff thats not on there as well! I appreciate the single use of things during this pandemic which really puts the guests at ease about staying safe. Once we ordered the food came out in a timely manner, I have been CRAVING AN AMAZING EGGS BENEDICT and boy was I not disappointed! Update to previous review - We came back on Monday. This time the wait was only about 15 minutes, with tables again notably unoccupied. Wait staff were dressed in Halloween costumes, which was cute except that it was Christmas. (Just kidding, it was Halloween.) As with our experience two days previous, the wait staff was super friendly. The food was quite good, but the service was pretty slow. We had line-of-sight into the kitchen and could see the cooks were working hard. As we waited for our food I could see a bunch of plates sitting under the warmer not being served. The wait staff also seemed to be working hard. Given these facts and the unoccupied tables, I think they might have staffing issues. This restaurant has a small coffee bar from which you can order coffee if you're waiting for a table. Between the three of us we had a black coffee, a cinnamon espresso (I think) and some froufrou drink my teenage daughter gets. All of them were just AWFUL. The espresso tasted like it had vinegar in it. The coffee was so bad it made me pine for Starbucks, fuhgodsake. I tasted the froufrou drink but can't report on it as I blocked it from my memory. Despite this mixed review, I can't help but like this place. A second visit confirmed to me that they are suffering from either short-staffing or struggling management (along with bad coffee). The food really is good, the service reasonable under the circumstances, and the prices are EXCELLENT, the combination of which is probably why it was crowded both times we went, and it seems to have a solid local clientele. If you're the owner reading this review, please consider it constructive criticism. We'll be back regardless, because the food (but not the coffee) is worth it. P.S. Get the biscuits and gravy. As usual the meal was terrific. Hard to beat the Irish omelette. However, what was most disturbing was being told if I wanted hot sauce it was either $.75 or $1.50. Are you kidding me, never saw that in any restaurant, talk about petty. What is that about $.25 per drop, talk about a money maker. Totally insulting I think I will skip this place next time. My boss recommended the wife and I check this place out, it's phenomenal! Lol, yeah okay! How many times do you here that as a referral when you are a YELPER? So I kept my expectations real, what a Hugh waiting area as we walked in and put my name on the list. We waited for about 10 mins and the wife got herself a coffee from the barista and we waited patiently. A lot of families were here so that is good news if you have little ones. The greeter called my name and we went into the main dining area which is small and makes you wwonder why is the floor plan not better to allow some of that waiting to be used to make money. Kara was our server she is easy on the eyes, friendly and professional never made us feel like we had too get out to flip the table. I ordered my usual and had low expectations, it is an easy breakfast but something is always not quite right ( 2 eggs over easy, hash browns, sausage links and English muffin), the wife ordered a strawberry yogurt parfait, fresh strawberries, granola, and App Quiche with lighter sided apples. Parfait came first and it was not fancy but very good, then our breakfasts came out again no fancy platings just food cooked perfect! She said her quiche was delicious and cleaned her plate. Mine, like I said above something is always not right, who can't cook eggs? Make an English muffin honestly toasted? Why is this so hard! It was not this place eggs over easy and not oily, English muffin perfectly toasted, hash browns browned on top perfectly and still soft and perfect in the middle, sausage age links just very good with that great Hatchet Coffee was the perfect breakfast! Only challenge for the restaurant for a 5 star rating, free pour sugar, change that floor plan, open that wall up, put out a fire pit or inclose the porch, parking is terrible. If your visiting from out oof town I would recommend Uber if it's available. All in all i recommend this place, other than the free pour sugar, I can overlook everything else. But it looked like a popular spot and they do have a huge room for waiting where there was a local musician called John Peterson playing music. Their menu is pretty varied which was appreciated by my party. I got the avocado toast which comes on Ezekiel bread with chia seeds. It was a good portion but simply not the best/most exciting avocado toast I've had. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food (burgers, pancakes, the McBoone, etc.). I have eaten here twice on December 15 and 16 2021. Both meals were good with the fist day being a basic two eggs, home fries and bacon with coffee the second day was the Florentine Benedict with hash browns. I would eat here again. The only slight criticism I have is the coffee was very bitter the second day, almost burnt favored. Also I found the Hollandaise sauce to be a bit bland needing some salt or a touch more acid (lemon) in the food to contrast. Only open from 7a to 1p, it gets bust from 0830 till noon but the staff is very friendly and efficient. read more

Close to an hour long wait on a saturday morning but thats kind of normal for most breakfast spots, the crowd definitely did get bigger after we arrived so get there early. Star of the show was the cream cheese french toast. I ate it so fast, super good, I was sorta reluctant that i didnt just order two plates of that lol. the rest of the items were good, i liked that the sausage still had the mildly chewy casing and tasted in a way that made me believe it mightve been house-made or "artisanal" in some way. Wifes chocolate chip pancake in certain spots tasted the way a flat top smells, if that makes sense. we came here during family weekend at App and there was quite a wait, that is to be expected. they do offer a coffee bar for those who are waiting (no free coffee) and offer a delicious hot apple cider. Everything, even their bread, is homemade. Best sausage gravy, biscuits, hollandaise sauce and cheesy grits (made with cream and butter!) I've ever tasted! And the poached eggs are perfectly cooked! My review is based on the owner/managers attitude. Not the food. I ordered decaf coffee while wife ordered regular. Hers came in regular coffee cup and mine came in a to go cup which was odd. We asked for a refill. Hers is no problem. Mine is full charge for a new cup as they make it out at the coffee bar. I asked why and was told "I don't make the rules" in a dismissive manner. I gave our server $5 to pay for the coffee and asked if that covered it? The owner/manager arrives and asks what the problem is? Again, I state I'm not paying for a second cup of decaf coffee. He gets indignant and says he doesn't need my money and that it was on the menu if I bothered to read it. Hey, A**HOLE. Here's s newsflash for you. My wife and I stopped here for lunch. The food was very good and reasonably priced. My wife had the gluten-free banana pancakes. She got a plate full of very small and thin, light pancakes. She said they were delicious andI had a small bite and can confirm. I had the Grizzly Adams breakfast burger which was about 4 inches tall and also delicious. Sunrise Grill has been a staple in my life for basically my entire life. I dined there a few months back for the first time in a few years and was surprised that they had changed a lot of the restaurant! While the menu still had the same "feel" and generally the same type of food, it is now much more extensive! They have also added a coffee bar and waiting area. While the coffee bar/waiting area is a nice touch, I feel like that space would be better used as dining space. I would say that is the one downside of Sunrise Grill as there is minimal seating which then causes for a long wait, especially during prime breakfast time. But truthfully, the long wait is so worth it. The food is phenomenal! After our great experience a few months ago, we decided to go again this past weekend while we were visiting Boone. We shared the Chili & Queso Hashbrowns as an appetizer and then I ordered the Southern Benedict for my meal. The hashbrowns honestly seemed a bit odd to me at first but oh my goodness they are out of this world!!!! They were honestly the main reason we decided to eat here again because they are that good. They are a must try! The rest of the food I've tried there has been delicious as well; I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.
