It easy to find, and the parking lot is pretty large. Handicapped parking is along the side. The ADA access ramp is along the side as well, and makes for a pretty good walk. Your other option is the stairs in front, although they are wide and offer good railings. Being our first time, we weren't quite sure where to go to put our name on the waiting list. Go inside the front door, then about halfway into the interior room, there is another door to the dining area. Both doors say "Sunrise Grill Entrance". Once inside the inner door, the waitress/ hostess takes your name. There was a 45 minute wait from about 9:30 Sunday morning. We went back into the interior room to wait. There is a coffee bar there along with the bathrooms. Even if you don't drink coffee, watching the barista is amazing. She obviously loves her job, and it shows. No only does she do about everything with a smile, she even leaps from one side of the area to another. She is the only one working there, but I think anyone else would just get in the way. I'm not sure if it is daily or only Sundays, but there was also a musician in the interior room. He was fine, and the volume was kept low enough to allow conversation. It did make the time pass a bit quicker. Once our name was called, we were seated, offered a menu, and had our drink orders taken. We asked for a couple more minutes to decide when the drinks were brought. The waitress returned right when we were ready. The food took maybe 15 minutes to arrive after ordering. Not excessive for the number of people inside. The Southern Benedict was two poached eggs and sausage patties on top of a halved biscuit, topped with sausage gravy. The gravy then had some cayenne pepper sprinkled on top. The biscuits were moist without getting soggy under the gravy. The sausage was spicy and the eggs cooked perfectly. The gravy is thick, but didn't turn into glue as it cooled. I was very happy with the meal. My dining partner ordered the Western omelet with hash browns. The omelet uses three eggs, and is stuffed with ingredients. All tasted fresh. The omelet was a meal by itself. The hash browns were slightly overcooked to the point of being crispy throughout without much of the soft potato insides. It was pretty thin, so maybe that is their normal way. One thing I noticed is while the waitress/ hostess watches the door closely, several people entered, looked around, and sat down at a small empty table by the door. She did notice pretty quickly and told them about the wait. It was obvious they were also first-timers. There is no sign saying to wait to be seated, so they really can't be faulted for grabbing an empty table. Also, table turnover was not as efficient as it could be. We noticed several tables sitting empty for 10-15 minutes just in our area. The wait staff was hustling, so I'm not really sure why the cleaned tables sat empty for so long. I asked the cashier, who said just about every weekend is packed like it was for us. If you can handle the wait, the price is good. The food was really good. The barista is worth a trip for coffee, even if you decide not to eat. BTW, the wait was up to one hour about 11:15 when we left. read more

We are here twice while in town for the weekend. I had the whistle stop Benedict and my husband had the hash. Both meals were so good we ate the same thing the next day. Another great visit! The Sunrise Grill is always at the top of our list when in Boone, and it just seems to get better every time. What wonderful breakfast choices! It's all good, but I have to give a special plug for the biscuits and sausage gravy. We had to wait about a half-hour on a Tuesday morning in October, but it's always well worth the wait. Visited sunrise during a ski weekend, we had to wait about 20 minutes, but that's really not bad for Sunday at peak brunch time. They have it set up so that you can order coffee while you wait, which is nice, but unfortunately my coffee wasn't the best ever. The food was good, and the service was very friendly and attentive. Wow! My wife and I agreed, best breakfast we have had in recent memory! I had the Mountain Man, it allowed me to taste a little bit of everything, all of it scrumptuous! We managed to slide in to this local breakfast joint just before the breakfast rush (about 0730 or so) on a Tuesday. All employees were wearing masks and wear was enforced if moving around the restaurant. The menu offers a good bit of variety for every palate, and fun naming conventions. Our orders were taken pretty quickly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time, but the place had filled up. I got the banana foster french toast and it was epic. I rolled the dice with turkey bacon but it was done so well! My husband said his biscuit and gravy could have been warmer, but overall the portion size was good for the price. Service was slowing by the time we finished, so we kind of hung around waiting for our ticket for a while. When we got the ticket, we kind of wandered back and forth to figure out where to pay because we wasn't sure when the waitress would come back. Update: Oct 10, 2019 The long wait this weekday Thursday in mid-morning was just too much -- over 1 hr from arrival to serving! Even the server gave up and disappeared. High season is not to blame yet since the leaf peepers know that fall color has been delayed a few weeks due to warm weather and a drought. Not a weekend either. Lowered rating slightly. Probably won't return. Could be more difficult for you, if you have impatient young children (aren't they all?). Food is good at a reasonable price, if you don't mind the wait. Our first food adventure in Boone! The restaurant is a small diner, it's very welcoming. Thankfully, because of the snow we didn't have a wait. I know many others stated that was an issue. Our server was amazing. She was friendly, had a ton of suggestions and made sure all of our needs were met. My husband enjoyed his eggs Benedict, cooked to perfection. I ordered the special chicken and waffle sandwich with pimento cheese. How could I not, literally 3 of my favorite things. The chicken was great. The waffle flavor alone was great but too soggy after a couple of bites. Sadly, the pimento cheese was a little runny and contributed to the soggy waffle. It was still tasty though! Usually love this place but they are obviously having some issues with staffing. Waited 40 minutes to be seated in a half empty restaurant and waited another 30 plus minutes for our food. Should have realized there was a problem after seeing the help wanted sign on the door and hearing the ridiculously long wait times with so few people waiting and near empty restaurant. Hopefully this isn't a trend as the food is good and prices are reasonable but buyer beware! read more

I've never eaten in the restaurant, so I have no comment on atmosphere/waitstaff service. The first time I ordered was for curbside pickup. I got the crunch and munch - let me tell you... it was TASTY. It was also tiny and did not come with any side of fruit or home fries or anything. Because of this I don't think it was a great deal as it was more expensive then most of their plates. The second time I wanted to order online and it was not loading so I called (11 AM on a Monday morning). The person who answered the phone told me they weren't taking to-go orders as it was busy but she'd go talk with the kitchen and get right back to me. 10 minutes on hold and I decided to hang up and call again. She quickly answered and said "Oh, yeah, I asked and we aren't taking orders." I've worked as a server and in customer service. I understand that it can be very busy. But don't leave someone hanging like that. That's a sure way to lose business. If you can't take my order, I understand, that is out of your control - but at least communicate that. All in all, I probably won't try this place again. Nothing majorly against them, but if I'm gonna be at the same price point, I'd rather get Melanie's. read more

The sign caught my attention and as such it lured me right in so great job on logo! Ambiance: Not the biggest place but it is very quaint and bright/colorful. Service: Excellent! Kara was an absolute pleasure. She was also incredibly attentive and kind. Food: Spectacular! First of all, they partner with a local place for their coffee and it really makes a difference from standard diner coffee. It is like a hug from Jesus! Then on top of that, the Southern Benedict will knock your socks off. It was exploding with flavor. I would recommend you give it or many of the other eggs benedict options a try! Good food, fair prices. Great for an early morning before a road trip or hike. Bottomless drip coffee, friendly waitress. Ordered eggs over-medium and they were cooked perfect. Getting in was a bit odd, one set of doors closed, another leads to a big hall-way where the bathrooms are, but once in it's a cozy, mountain cabin type feel to it. This place filled up most mornings pre-pandemic and even more so now. Even with the limited seating, disposable place settings and limited menu it is still an outstanding choice for breakfast. So much on the menu sounds great, it's hard to settle on something. All the usual items you'd expect on a breakfast menu and lots of unique creations as well. I think there were eggs Benedict done 8 different ways on our recent visit: four on the regular menu and another four as weekly specials. Received excellent service from Shakari. Highly recommended and get there early, especially on weekends. read more
