There's nothing like a New England breakfast nook. A sweet, yet no nonsense waitress; solid, home cooked food like my Irish eggs Benedict; and comfortable interior made for a great experience.

Great little find, food was delicious. I had the quiche and it was wonderful. I would recommend.

After some heavy meals during our little vacation, we were looking for a lighter breakfast. We settled on Sunrise Grill and it was exactly what we were looking for! Definitely a hometown classic with simple, yet tasty food. The eggs and toast were great, the food came out quickly, and the waitresses were very attentive with coffee refills.

Basic New England breakfast joint. Good food, good service, good prices. Don't expect anything fancy though.

The seating was choose a table, so we selected one in the corner. Our server brought out menus, and a water bowl for Toby. My mom ordered a burger - which was cooked perfectly to the temp specified (medium), that she enjoyed, she selected the homemade chips as her side (yum!) I ordered the french dip which was on the specials menu - it, and the au jus that came with it were delicious! You can select a side that you want - I went with Mac and cheese, which was delightful (a lot of food though, so took most of the Mac home). I really liked that this restaurant was casual, had a relaxed feel, and our server was great. Also thrilled that they welcomed our dog with zero fuss.

I was just here recently on 06/15/2024 with friends & family. It was such a beautiful day out (finally!!) & they were packed/busy. They had a grill outside that they were grilling up some burgers that smelt amazing. They have a little outside patio that is covered & one that is open. We were told our wait would be 20 minutes but it seemed that we ended up getting seated in less than 20. One negative thing about this place is that they only have 1 bathroom which is unisex so the wait to use the bathroom can be long & there really isn't a good place to stand in line for it. As the kitchen door is right there & then there is a table up against the wall where customers sit. I felt like I was in everyone's way while waiting to use the bathroom....lol There was 7 of us total but only 4 of us showed up first & we were seated outside under the covered patio. Our table wasn't big enough for 7 & the waitress actually asked the 3 girls at the big table next to us if they wouldn't mind switching with us & they had no problem in doing so, luckily they had just drinks & had just placed a food order so it was an easy switch for everyone.....thank you girls!! This did confuse the waitress a little bit once the other 3 showed up when she brought our drinks out to the 4 of us. This visit I got the grilled chicken club which I thought the menu said it was fried but apparently it is grilled which ended up being great because the sandwich was delicious. The chicken was nice & moist. I did omit the cheese & asked for my bacon on the side. Good thing I looked @ my receipt because when our waitress Jess put the order in, the register automictically charged me for "a side of bacon" when the bacon comes on the sandwich, it was an easy fix for her. I also got their homemade potato chips with a horseradish dip which wasn't too spicy. I've gotten their chips in the past, always a hit. Other food items I've had in the past have been their mac & cheese, chicken & lemongrass potstickers, pretzel bites with beer cheese & chicken fingers. Everything has been tasty so far. Jess was an amazing waitress. We didn't wait long for her to take our order, bring our drinks & check on us after we tasted our food. Surprisingly as busy as it was on KBP we didn't wait long @ all for our food. She was able to get all the checks separated as asked for and was very nice & friendly, thank you Jess!! Funny cause for some reason I thought her name was Ashley but my receipt says "Jess H." My friend's & I that I was with, we all know the owners and go way back with them from when they owned another business apx 30yrs ago that we use to venture to frequently. My sister-in-law also knows the owners too. So it's always nice to get to see them & say hello when we stop in. They're great people & definitely do a great job running this place! Keep up the great work guys!! As always, its nice seeing ya! Thank you!

If you're with a bigger group, definitely get the family plate to try a little bit of everything. You get four large sides, half a chicken, jalapeño cheddar sausage, brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. We got the Cole slaw, Mac and cheese, collard greens, and fries as a side. The Cole slaw was eh, but everything else was fantastic. And the meats of course are the stars of it all! But the mac and cheese? Oh wow that is so good. And the jalapeño cheddar cornbread is even better. Not dry at all--most yet crispy on the sides from the grill. But finishing it off with the German chocolate flourless cake is the best part at the end. So decadent... The service is always great when you go here. Every time I've been, I'm pleased with how fast everything is brought out. And it is always consistently delicious. It's crazy to think this is in Maine and not from somewhere known for BBQ. Definitely dine in here, preferably on the patio, which has great water views. This visit we got takeout. We ordered a platter with ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and chicken. Texas napkins are upon request. The platter came with four sides, so we got collared greens, Mac and cheese, fries, and beans. Each of the BBQ items was slightly dry, maybe because we got takeout instead of dining in. The brisket had a nice Smokey flavor and the ribs were meaty. The chicken was also seasoned well, although I wish the bbq sauce for each item was a bit thicker. The bbq sauce they offer is watery and doesn't stick to any of the items. The sides were decently sized, and the Mac and cheese and fries were delicious. The collared greens were a bit sweet for us and those went largely uneaten by the group.

We chose seats at the comfortable-looking bar, which was a great spot to start the evening and soak in the warm, antique, historical vibe of the space -- lots of character without feeling stuffy. We built our own dinner from a mix of appetizers, and everything we tried was excellent. The local cheese plate featured a soft, brie-like cheese that was rich and delicious. We also ordered the mussels, which were a standout -- especially the mustard component. I wouldn't have expected mustard to pair so well with mussels, but it absolutely worked and added a surprising depth of flavor. There was also a chicken dumpling special that was comforting, well-seasoned, and very satisfying. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The service at the bar was fantastic. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful when offering advice on what to order, which made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming. The food however is overpriced and just doesn't fit the bill. I was surprised to sit down and see a simple steak and potato dinner was $72. I ordered duck and my wife ordered pork belly. The food was alright but neither were meals that we'd want again. Two entrees, two apps, and a single glass of wine. ~$180 with tip. I don't mind spending $200 on dinner - but if I'm spending that much dinner should be stellar. This was just mediocre and I'm honestly surprised it has a 4.5 star rating average. The quality is consistently good, and the portions and pricing offer great value. It's also become a solid spot to catch a game, with a reasonably lively atmosphere and good overall "vibe". That said, one aspect of the experience has consistently stood out in a negative way. On nearly every visit, I've interacted with the same middle-aged server/bartender, and unfortunately his attitude has been noticeably unfriendly and dismissive. He often comes across as irritated or as though he would rather be anywhere else, especially when serving larger groups. It creates an uncomfortable experience that contrasts pretty sharply with the otherwise positive environment. After reading other reviews, it seems I'm not the only person who has had this impression. It's disappointing because the improvements to the food and atmosphere have made the place much more enjoyable overall.
