I truly enjoy this place. The assortment of beers and ales is remarkable. Make no mistake, it's more "tavern-like" than a restuarant, but the food I've had was always good and plentiful. the French-dip style sandwiches are the best I've ever had. I've never eperienced such an assortment of great brews available. In fact they have a rotating "menu" above the bar that's more interesting than most baseball games. Very informal but not, ahhh "life threatening" as say, the local pub in some places I've visited. Indeed, if memory serves I've seen families dine there with the kids. Maybe that's why they have outdoor dining??? Better check though as my kids are old enough to join me there, and with much fun. The food used to be so much better. Has gone downhill in the last few months. They got rid of all of our favorites from the menu. No more NY Steak Sandwich, no more Poutine Tots, No more 3 Chili Philly, No more Buffalo Chicken Salad. They got rid of all their seasonal specials, even our favorite Chicken Fried Chicken with Jalapeno Gravy. The works tots appetizer used to be sharable size.... no so much anymore. I tried their regular Philly cheese steak sandwich..... but frankly I've had better from the freezer aisle at Costco. We were informed that they have a new executive chef. Booo!!! Decent place to get reasonably priced food and drinks. Looked up dog friendly patios in issaquah (on the way back to Seattle from a hike) and found this place. Wasn't expecting it to basically be in a gas station parking lot - but it was still nice to sit outside. FOOD: We all ordered burgers, and they were good! You won't get the option to get a medium rare burger patty here (or at least they didn't ask - I wouldn't try it), but other than that the burgers are tasty and have lots of toppings. The fries are good here too - nice and crispy but soft inside. "3 Chili Silly" Burger - beware of the sauce! It is legitimately spicy. House made sauce with Serrano, jalapeño, habanero, and I believe ghost pepper extract. We ordered the sauce on the side and were glad we did. DRINKS: During brunch hours they have $5 brunch cocktails, or a big mimosa for $8. My $5 greyhound was better than the "Manmosa" HOT SAUCE: the 3 chili silly sauce was so spicy I didn't even bother asking, but I saw other tables with hot sauce caddies that had an assortment of condiments. read more

2 stars for a decent wait help.... Half hour to get lunch after it was ordered...not a deal breaker. Ruben sandwich...get em a lot...so bad I can't describe it. Daughter loved her salad...yea! Wife got the chicken sandwich served on a hamburger bun....took piece of over cooked fried chicken out and ate it...left the rest. Left a 20% tip for wait staff...hope the management doesn't get a nickle. The poor food is on the manager!! Btw...that was an 80$ lunch...iced tea only.. Recently, I found myself in Issaquah needing a late lunch and craving a cold beer. Thanks to Yelp I found the Sunset Alehouse. Located in a large strip mall, one of the best things about this place is the huge parking lot. Parking is somewhat of a commodity in this area, so it was a relief not to have to worry. Since I was by myself, I sat at the bar. I ordered a pint of Mac and Jack's, and a cup of their gumbo. It was the perfect lunch. The gumbo is super authentic, and very very spicy. I was actually sweating when I finished it. But in a good way. The beer was a great way to top it off. I noticed they appear to have a great Happy Hour menu, and a weekend brunch menu. I could definitely see myself stopping by and checking this place out again. But I could also see myself just ordering that delicious gumbo again. Next time I will get it in the optional sourdough bread bowl. Yum yum! read more

First time trying Sunset. Wings, half house salad, tots and my sweets said the Sunset dip was so good he would be thinking about it later. Holiday gingerbread cheesecake is yummy!!! The first time I came here it was great. I got the Haymaker and it was delicious. This must have been a fluke. The last time I went (for food), the burger was DRENCHED in grease.. to include a greasy soggy dripping bun and a 1/2 inch layer of oii in the bottom of the basket also making the fries disgusting.. I ate it out of hunger and regretted it for two days. NOW.. just this weekend, my wife And I showed up to hopefully get two beers and an appetizer in the bar. The sign said "Wait!".. so wait we did. Not one interaction with the staff (which we saw many) and after ten minutes, we went elsewhere. IT WAS NOT BUSY. THERE is no excuse. There were even idle employees that might have said "be with you in a moment". Management failure. So much potential.. but fail. Very disappointing place in Issaquah downtown. I had been to this place a couple of times for breakfast and it was decent but today when I decided to review they were not offering brunch menu. Decided to get the Italian chicken and Gumbo. Both items were not very good at all. Italian chicken was supposed to have pesto and a balsamic dressing however I barely tasted any pesto. The balsamic dressing was so heavy that it made the sandwich salty. The chicken was not dry but the bread was too thick. It was one of the. OST dissatisfying sandwiches I had. I didn't even finish it but the tater tots here are great and very crispy. The gumbo was also not very flavorful and it did not have a lot of rice that we were expecting. The attached barely eaten gumbo clarifies that. I will not be coming back here again and would not recommend this place. The Rogue Ales Brewhouse down the street has better food. read more

Inflexible!! Borderline lazy Hostess. The is indoor and outdoor dining and heaters outside. There was a 15 minute wait to dine inside. So we tried outside but asked if we could come in when the table opened up. Nope, can't go inside after being outside! But you can wait in your car. Also please look up our menu on your phone. We said no thanks and walked out. And I said why can't you wipe down the outside table and let is inside later- tooo lazzy? read more

Despite that I love the food here and I think their brunch is great, their gluten free menu is not only lacking but completely insulting. One person in our party of 6 has celiac disease so I'm always looking out for good places that have a decent gluten free selection that is clearly marked. I know it can be a hassle, but there is usually stuff that is naturally gluten free without much risk (aka corn based stuff, meat etc) So what happened is, we asked for a gluten free menu and they bring it, but it's all fried items with no dedicated fryer, and then they had an "extra glutinous" part at the bottom which was incredibly rude. There were gluten free things on the menu, but it seems like the chef either doesn't care to mark it and the waitress wasn't super interested in helping either. I recommend not going here if you are celiac, at least until they have a properly labeled menu. Duke's and lots of other restaurants manage to mark gluten free items very easily, Sunset needs to get with the program. read more

Best Martini on the east side for sure... And you have to go on Tuesday for the Chicken Tortilla soup. Loved it. It was as good as the soup in San Diego. They have many beers to choose from and they have wine and a full bar. Food is your typical bar food. This place is tucked in a corner and you would not find it unless you know it is here or google bars. Staff is friendly and prompt. Gets super busy when people get off work since this is a hang out for local Costco and Microsoft employees. They have places for large groups so that makes it nice if you want to meet the gang after work for a drink. read more

Overall excellent experience! We came during the Covid outbreak while "glamping" at a nearby RV park. Our waitress (Chloe) was super nice, attentive, and amazing. She made us feel welcome and treated us like we were old friends even though we never met before our visit. Two of us ordered the halibut, but they were out of it and just had cod. On the plus side, the cod was bar raising. Much better than most typical "fish and chips". On the down side, we were charged the menu price for halibut and chips even through we just got cod (which is a lower price fish just about everywhere else). My daughter ordered the kids pasta which she loved. It was a bit pricey at $11 including marinara on the side. The chicken and rice soup was fantastic, but with a tinge of spice. I'd still order it again even with a little acid reflux later in the evening. On the drink side I had a delicious pear cider that was crisp and not too sweet. I also ordered a stronger IPA. We showed up only about 25 mins before they closed (at 8pm, relatively early for a Saturday night even with the Covid), but Chloe made sure we had the chance to get a second round in before last call. Came on a sunny Saturday en route to a hike and needed an outdoor seat because of our dog. Our family of five was seated right away in the covered outdoor patio and our server was prompt and friendly. The menu was what you'd expect from an Alehouse with a decent selection of beers. The kids menu also had the expected selection of burgers, chicken strips and quesadillas. We ordered fairly quickly however the food took about 30 minutes to come out. It came hot so I don't think it was an issue with the service as much the kitchen. The kids thought their food was fine, my tuna melt was also decent, although a little spicy with jalapeños chopped inside. My Partner ordered the mushroom Swiss burger and was really disappointed....said you could taste flavors from other foods in the bun and the patty was over cooked. Overall, just an average rating for this spot. Not terrible but I wouldn't seek it out. There are two other pub-type spots within two blocks to choose from. read more

That being said, I was fairly devastated recently to find out about recent menu changes, specifically, the 3 chili Philly. I loved this sandwich. I lived for this sandwich. If I ever found myself on death row, this sandwich would be my last meal. But now, the chili sauce is gone? What fresh hell? And it's not only that. I stopped by post-hike with a ravenous hunger for a late lunch. I ordered the Santa Fe chicken sandwich. It had loads of chicken and came with pepperjack cheese and a roasted poblano pepper as well. I'm a fan of spice, so I ordered the 3 chili silly sauce. The waitress thankfully talked me into getting it on the side. This is rare for me to say, but I could not have tolerated a sandwich full of that sauce, it was incredibly spicy! I left satisfied and full. I would come back if I had a mighty hunger and was craving American food. Unfortunately, as far as I'm concerned, the ceiling for American food is low, at about the level of Red Robin, which makes me an infrequent customer. read more

This is a really nice place. I decided to meet someone on a date here. She ghosted me but I ended up meeting a colleague of mine from work. Nice collection of beer mostly local breweries, wine and cocktails. They have a decent food menu too. Nice variety. I ordered the 3 chili silly - a burger - substituted with veggie burger. It was spicy as advertised and I loved it. My colleague mentioned he was a regular at this place so I think it can't be that bad. Glad I picked this place- it was worth the drive! Service was good although a bit slow, the waitress that served me was polite, all smiles and efficient. Btw 4 stars in my book is pretty darn good. read more

I've been here a few times for a rushed lunch in between meetings but this was the first time I got to eat dinner here. I met a friend and ate in the bar section. We split a seasonal appetizer of poutine fries. There was lots of cheese and gravy and it could have used a few more fries but it was so yummy. Poutine for everyone! I got the chili verde which came with delicious rice and beans. The pork was so flavorful and juicy. I had enough to have leftovers for lunch the next day. The staff was nice and friendly but didn't refill our water or ask if we wanted another round of drinks. This is a slightly pricier restaurant (it's part of Jak's Grill) but the food is yummy. read more

This place used to be our go-to before the pandemic. Then during the shutdown, we supported them with regular to-go orders. Sadly they have recently "dumbed down" the menu and removed most of our favorites. The food is still decent, but nothing special. Its now just standard pub-grub but their prices are still high. For example, a pint of beer with tax and tip is now over $10. We hope they'll wise up and bring back some standout items like the Santa Fe Salad and the Pork Carnitas, which were awesome. This is a fun neighborhood bar, with awesome food in Issaquah. I shouldn't expect anything less though, given that it's by the same owners as JaK's, which is one of the best restaurants in Issaquah and is around the corner from here. But if you can't afford a steak like me, or not one to be fancy - like me, again, Sunset Alehouse is a great option. First of all, the draft list is always solid, as there are always a ton of local drafts to choose from. I also noticed that the last Monday of every month they partner with a local brewery and do a tasting event with them. I can get on board with that! For anyone who likes craft beer - this is a place you'll have to check out, just for its respect for good beer! Plus, the food is solid. In my last visit my friend and I came here on a Friday during dinner service. We ordered Buffalo Wings and Tots, both of which I would happily eat again from here. They may be typical bar food, but the quality is telling here. The tots had a good seasoning to them, with just a hint of spice like cajun seasoning and were extra crunchy. And the wings were awesome! I really appreciate the fact that Sunset does not overly bread their chicken wings because that's my biggest pet peeve with wings. I want the meat, not the batter! So I'm glad Sunset does them justice. Also, the buffalo sauce seemed to be housemade, as it wasn't thick like Frank's from a bottle, but had more of an oily and thinner sauce to it - which was flavorful as buffalo sauce normally is. I just loved how meat-y the chicken wings were though. They were THICK, and you definitely get your money's worth. I'd love to try other items from here, including their happy hour food and weekend brunch which includes nine entrees for nine dollars each! I will wake up for brunch, especially for only nine bucks! They have patio seating with its own TV outside there! Service was fast and friendly, and because the alehouse is located in a shopping area it has its own private parking lot. read more

Friday early dinner just as happy hour was ending. Place was on the loud side. Service was prompt and good. We got the Swiss mushroom burger which was just pink enough in the center and the jaks NY steak sandwich. My husband said to the server the sandwich was good medium rare as he asked.for but was a bit plain and it would have been good to have some sautéed onions or other toppings on it. She said people ask for it but essentially didn't offer those tips when taking the order. Suggestion to management is to train your staff to ask customers if they want any add ons, rather than the customer having a decent but not excellent experience.
