Avoid this body shop at all costs. This body shop is running a giant scam to take advantage of people who are in auto accidents. They have a partnership with a tow truck agent who has fake numbers, addresses and a fake Triple A tag on the front of his tow truck. On 2/16/21 i was involved in an accident and called Triple A to have my vehicle moved to my home. A tow truck employee came and claimed he was a representative of Triple A. Instead of taking it to my home he forcefully told me the vehicle had to be taken here to Sunset Body Works. He called several numbers who had agents pretending to be associated with Triple A. After my car was taken it was NEVER taken to sunset body works - it was instead taken to a different remote location which i was unaware of. I got LAPD involved to investigate where my car was because at this point Sunset Body Works in conjunction with the tow truck employee have committed theft. Once i read the other Yelp reviews i had arrived to Sunset Body Works with LAPD. They placed a legal lien on my car restricting me from getting my property. After STEALING my property they then charged me 1,700 to retrieve my car. I will be having automotive detectives investigate this business along with the Beauru of Motor Repair. The fraudulent business they are running here is criminal and needs to be made aware to the public at large. AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS. read more

Unfortunately, my car was damaged, and when I brought it to the body shop, they gave me a 30-day time estimate as to how long it would take to be fixed. I got a rental car that was covered by insurance. The 30-day period passed, but I continued to wait patiently. I realized that I did not get my car back for three months! Soon, as I neared the number of days which I could keep the rental car, I began to get anxious. At this point the rental car coverage maxed out. During this period, no one from the body shop reached out to me or my lawyer with any updates. So, I initiated and made several calls to the shop requesting a time estimate and the list of reasons for the delay increased each time I called. I called over 10 times. Finally, I had to go into the shop and demand a proper estimate of time. They took responsibility for the delay and then that they offered me loaner car from a "luxury" car rental car company. However, the rental car I was offered was about as far from the word luxury as it could get. Like other side of the planet far. When I received the car they offered, I was completely disgusted. First, the driver side did not have a sun visor and the passenger sun visor was hanging by exposed electric wires! I was frightened that I might be electrocuted. Then, every time I stopped the passenger side sun visor would swing and obstruct my vision of that passenger side mirror AND window. Talk about a driving hazard. On top of all of this, the lights on the dashboard were flickering which confirmed the electrical problems I imagined when I saw all of the exposed wire. So, I called requesting to swap out the decrepit rental and they gave me a 1998 Honda civic. The rental car manager (who is the one who handed me that keys when I picked it up the first "luxury" car) asked me why I was not happy with the first car, I was flabbergasted. Eventually when I went to pick up my car, I heard a sound and it turned out that the tire was rubbing on something. So, I took it back the same day and they claimed to have fixed it. But then I kept hearing the sound and I went back again few days later. In addition, my windshield fluid was empty, (it was not empty when I left my car with them), two valve caps were missing and there was a bubble in the paint of the door they fixed. They gave another 1998 loaner from Silver Lake Luxury Car Rental. This car was also, no luxury rental. When I picked up my car AGAIN I only drove it home and left Town. When I returned home I observed that my windshield fluid was still empty. In ADDITION, the AC, (which was fine before I dropped it off the second time) did not work AND they forgot to re-install a shelf in my glove box, which was intact before. I am currently still driving with a busted glove box, no AC and no windshield fluid. My car went into the shop in January... it's July! I would have thought that they had more than enough time to fix these issue. I AM BEYOND LIVID!!!! I got scammed by this place YEARS ago! Glad it is finally coming to light! They pay off tow truck drivers to take distraught victims of car wrecks here instead of other body shops. Then they find any way to take their sweet time or up-charge things. They replaced the door on my car and when I went to pick it up the door had a SCRATCH on it, so they had to do the work all over again. It took nearly THREE MONTHS and my rental car charges went thru the roof after insurance expired for it. I left an original bad review on Yelp here but the owner made me remove it if I wanted him to reimburse me the rental car charges (!!!!). Terrible experience! I was rear ended at the end of September 2020. On Star insisted on sending a tow truck and I agreed because the On Star guy kept saying that the car was under warranty. The car was moved to Sunset Body Works (SBW) due to a miscommunication between us and the insurance company. If I had the choice, I would NOT HAVE CHOSEN this body shop and deeply regret that it ended up there. SBW got my car October 2, 2020, I finally got it back mid-January 2021. Of the 5 times I was able to speak with someone over the phone and was told I would be getting a call back with an update, I only received a call back one time. I've called at least 12 other times and no one has answered the phone. There was damage in the front bumper from the shady towing company (SCA Towing - also terrible) that On-Star sent and I was told by SBW from the get go that they would contact the towing company/storage yard to seek payment for front damages. But in January 2021, they tried to get money from my insurance company even though everyone understood that the front damage was not from the accident. My insurance denied it. Eventually SBW said that they would just "eat the cost" of the front repairs. Back in early December, we were told the car would be ready mid-December, but every time we called to check, the car was not ready. They kept delaying... saying it would be ready by Dec. 21, then "later in the week", then the week of Dec. 27. Eventually, my insurance company called and they told the insurance it would be done before the new year. (It was not done before the new year.) On Jan. 5, I was told there was "more to fix" even though they already had the car for 3+ months. I was told to call back again on Jan. 8, and that if the parts came in, I'd be able to pick the car up that day. I called multiple times on Jan. 8, no answer. My husband called multiple times, no answer. My brother called, no answer. I sent an email, no answer. On Monday, Jan. 11, my husband finally got through and was told the car was "in final alignment". They refused to give us a date of when the car would actually be ready. My husband requested a call back when the car was fixed. We never received a call back. On Tuesday, Jan 12, my husband called again (I called earlier in the day and no one answered) and they said the car was done and that they needed to send paperwork to our insurance. With no other options left, my husband ended up contacting Ana (who I was originally in contact with but had gone on maternity leave) for help AND SHE WAS THE MOST HELPFUL PERSON. SHE GETS 5 STARS!!!! We contacted her on Thursday, Jan. 14 and were able to pick up the car 4 days later!! Bless her and her new baby. She was also the one who told us that the body shop was dealing with staffing issues because of the pandemic, which explains a lot of why they were unavailable, but I'm unsure why they did not proactively communicate that to their customers. After bringing the car home (rookie mistake not to inspect it at the shop, but I wanted to get the car the heck out of there), my husband found a crack in the front windshield. Nothing hit the windshield on the way home, so it must have happened while the car was in SBW's possession. I tried to put in the luggage cover in the trunk and it doesn't quite fit. A hook for the cargo area shade is also missing. SBW billed my insurance over $4000 for labor for a poorly done job and it looks like we'll have to spend more money to get the front windshield fixed. Also, it's suspicious that the reviews are either 1 star or 5 stars, but it doesn't seem like a good business if they're so unreliable. I'd strongly recommend not bringing your car here if you have the choice, because who knows how they will treat you. read more

They charged the at fault insurance company nearly 20 thousand dollars and held my car for 5 months. Once I called the police they finally returned my car (they weren't even keeping it on their lot) I then towed my car from their lot to Toyota to examine what they had actually done to my car. Only 1 of the nearly 30 repairs they documented and charged had actually been done. If they have your car get it out now, I'm just grateful my car still runs. So I started off giving them a 4 STAR but changed to a 5 STAR and I'll explain why. I took my Tesla Model 3 in for rear bumper and quarter panel damage. I was pretty concerned at first when I first took the car in as I only saw a few Tesla on the lot being worked on. Also Tesla is notoriously slow in getting parts to their own shops, so i was a bit worried that Sunset didn't have anything already in stock. At about the 3 week point, Tesla still didn't return calls for parts about my car, which I knew would put me past my 30 day insurance coverage. At this point, Sunset said not to worry, they would pick up the over 30 day rental charges which was GREAT. They even called Enterprise and took care of this! Sunset was finally able to get a hold of Tesla and they were able to get the parts for my car. All in all it took about 6 1/2 weeks for me to get my car back. My rental was covered so being without my car for 49 days was frustrating at times but nothing I could do to help. Customer service, zero stars. I'm not sure why they have that girl Anna working the front desk representing their company. POOR customer service. I personally feel she needs a class or two on professionalism and general customer service etiquette. She's extremely rude when trying to get a simple piece of information from about your vehicle and very argumentative. My brother got into a terrible car accident and they towed my brother's car which we believed was being towed to Glendale but ended up being towed here. They charged $165 for the storage fee and $325 to be towed. $325 just to be towed a few miles away. Are you kidding me? $490 in total? My brother tried reasoning with the guy but the could not be reasoned with. We called another tow guy to tow my brothers car out of there because he didn't want to pay $165 each day for the storage fee. The other tow guy towed it back to our house and told us about the shady business this place has done. They would lure potential customers and charge them a crazy amount of money. Anna and Johnny have been the best - very communicative, really honest and totally make sure you are taken care of. After reading all the poor reviews I could literally copy and paste what's been written and just change the details of the car & date dropped off. I had my car towed there on May 20th, 2019 after being involved in a rear end collision on the freeway. I was of course very shaken up and scared and after exchanging info with all drivers involved in the accident I proceeded to get in my car and drive to my destination. I was contacted by a tow driver representing himself on behalf of Honda and told me that I needed to pull my car over immediately as it has been deemed unsafe to drive that it needed to be inspected immediately!!! I of course was upset by that information I agreed and the tow driver picked up the car, myself and son in his highschool parking lot. After being delivered to Sunset Body Works they quickly move to in-taking my car and not an inspection. I told them that i did not want to drop my car off as I wanted to go home and collect my thoughts and rest my body ( i got hit hard from the rear end). Johnny insisted I should leave the car offering a loaner car and to waive the deductible , no out of pocket expenses. I still hesitated and asked how long the repair process would be as I had road trips out of town planned, my son was graduating in 2 weeks. He told me that it would be about 3 weeks. A little long for a bumper repair but hey it was a hard impact. I've been in my fair share of accidents in L.A. and have never had my car in the shop longer than 2 weeks and with consistent daily and weekly updates from the reapir shop I might add (I've received NONE from Sunset Body Works). After 3 weeks my husband and I take a trip up to Sunset Body Works, we live close by and we are told that it will be another a few weeks and when I inquire why, I'm getting this HARD TO BELIEVE story about ordering parts, the the wrong part comes and then wait for another and then wait some more.... That seems curious to me since repairing cars is your business right?! Why would you regularly be sent the "wrong" or "damaged" part?! Why are inspections taking so long? Does no one use a calendar? Is there no expectation of a beginning and middle and end date??? My car with the rear end bumper damage has now lived at Sunset Body Works for 6 weeks!!!! I am making a car payment on a car that I've had for 1 year that I have not driven nor seen in a month and a half!!! I called today and was told that she would look for file and give me an update and wait for it.......... she needs to wait for Johnny to return on Monday which will make 7 weeks!!! I have now reached out to Insurance Company to expedite this "repair". I really wished that I'd looked at these reviews first and that I'd followed my gut and my gut said go home and go to your usual repair facility that you've been doing business with for many years. And to note I was involved in a terrible front end hit with extensive damage a year prior and it took about 9 days to get my car back from Caliber Collision. This business takes advantage of drivers after car accidents by having a tow truck bring drivers there and then lying to them about the costs involved. On 9/19, I was towed to this repair facility by a tow company after a serious accident. I believe the tow company is owned by the same owners that own this repair facility or has a direct partnership with them. I was unable to locate the tow company, 1st Response Roadside Assistance, on Yelp, the BBB site or on the Web. I've since seen their tow trucks in front of that shop several times as I drive past on Sunset. My Farmers insurance adjuster said that the exact scenario that I'm describing has happened many times with this body shop. Their previous name was Sunset Auto Crafters, there is a BBB entry with the same address. My experience with this company corresponds to Rebecca G's 9/6/18 review. I'm sure they paid the other reviewers or gave them discounts. The other driver called 911 to report the accident. Within 2 mins after hanging up with AAA, this other tow truck appeared and told me he was sent by Volkswagen Roadside Assistance. I said my VW car was from 2010 and I didn't think I still had roadside assistance, I had already called AAA and didn't want to pay for the tow. He handed me his phone and said this was the VW Roadside Assistance Dispatcher. The person on the phone told me a signal in my car had gone off to alert them and send the tow truck. I was rattled by the accident and had hurt my head but I still protested that I didn't think my 2010 model car had that feature. He assured me that it did have this feature and he would take me to Volkswagen's repair facility. He told me to cancel AAA, which I did. He told the other driver that the police wouldn't come out since no one was seriously injured and we should leave, but they police arrived before he was done loading up my car. They filled out the report and then we left. When I realized we weren't going to the nearest VW service center in Glendale, he said he's going to a VW approved repair facility. While still in the cab of the tow truck, I called Farmers Insurance to report the accident and get a rental car set up. I was still on the phone when we got to Sunset Body Works and was ushered into someone's office. The Farmers agent I was talking to said that Sunset Body Works was not an approved repair facility but that I had the right to choose my body shop, but to be aware that they may charge storage fees for the car that Farmers may not cover. I asked the Sunset Body Works employee if they would charge those fees and he said No, not until the Farmers rep came to the facility to assess the damage and approve any costs. After I hung up, the employee handed me a piece of paper with pre-checked boxes that I needed to sign. I was too rattled to read it and while I asked again about fees, he said I wasn't going to be charged anything. Later that day, the local Farmers rep called me to discuss next steps and said that a number of fees would probably not be covered by Farmers and when I told him how I ended up at that shop, he said I had been deceived since I didn't have VW Roadside assistance and that this same situation had happened to many people. On 9/20, I got a letter from Farmers showing that Sunset Body Works wanted to charge $150 per day for storage and a $250 estimate fee, and I would be liable for $25 per day since Farmers pays "only" $125 per day in storage, and does not cover the estimate fee as they complete their own estimate. My husband was very angry that I was taken advantage of after a serious accident, so he angrily called Sunset Body Works on 9/21 and complained to a supervisor. A manager called me back shortly after, stating he didn't know anything about the tow company but since we were so unhappy about the situation, he was going to reduce the fees so that I didn't have to pay anything. After a 3 way call with Farmers, they did reduce the fees so that I didn't owe anything, but they still charged Farmers much more than needed, so this is a total racket. Made me feel horribly taken advantage of and drives our insurance rates higher. read more

Seeing all the reviews makes me laugh so hard, since this place is definitely a joke. It has been over a year since my car was sent there and I still couldn't believe the whole process, even though my car sat in their garage like 3 months. As all the reviews stated, got into an accident, and a mysterious tow truck came and took my car to this place. What a coincidence that the car showed up right after the accident, just makes me wonder if the truck was just patrolling in the neighborhood waiting for its preys?? Should've just called my insurance company and let them tow it to the authorized places, that was definitely my bad for sure. Then the drama begun - the car sat in their garage for like 3 months, claiming that there's this parts missing, that part missing, needs to be fixed here and there. Come on my car is no Lambo nor Bentley how come the parts are so hard to find? I started to come in every week (sometimes twice a week) when they start to make new excuses again. At least I saw my car - though disorganized lying in a garage, but at least I saw it you know. I hate to push people but this entire delay and fixing drama just drove me crazy. Finally I got my car back and you know what, looks good but when I drove to the office I just felt weird when I was looking my car and suddenly I figured out - some metal letters on the back of the car went missing (like CAMRY behind Toyotas and ALTIMA for Nissans), I was like what the heck??? Drove back and then they said it's their error and it took another week - they need to order the parts! I didn't know by that time that I should start laughing or crying, it's just ridiculous! I mean I did get my car back, but it was like going through a ridiculous nightmare and when you think of it again you just laugh and wonder how can things be like that anyways. I brought my car to get fixed after a car accident recommended by someone and after seeing good yelp reviews I opted for this body shop lord do i regret it. Long story short it took them a long time to fix it and after everything they didn't even color match my car appropriately. My car was brand new when i got into a car accident so now i have two different paint tones, the work the body shop did was awful because the door they painted is way darker than the actual color now I will have to go somewhere else to get my car painted and color matched appropriately what a disappointment. read more

This has to be by far the best service I have ever had hands down with any shop. They are very much about making sure the client is at all times happy about any services they need. I came in very nervous because I had no idea what I was doing and Johnny, was very helpful and made you feel very comfortable. And the team! All the other reviews about this shop are fake. This company is the worst in the city and they've had to change their name four times. They have been investigated many times for fraud. They get tow trucks to come via AAA and take the car and charge so much to hold it that you don't move it. My car has been there since february and all they do is lie. They sent it for a small fix to a mercedes dealer where it stayed for four weeks without their enquiring after it. They lie and lie more. They can't fix their own reputation let alone your car. It is the worst experience of my life. Forget them and go literally anywhere else. read more

I had gotten into an accident, took my car this Body Shop where I met with Andrew, really cool guy. Andrew was really helpful, great customer service, always keeping me updated on what was going on with the car, when the car would be done. When I went to pick up my car was looking brand new.
