We started off with many appetizers. We tried the fries with and without truffle. I would say it's okay to skip the additional truffle since they combine it with parmesan -- would only get if you're a fan of both! Also, a lot of the entrees come with a side of fries! The brussels sprouts were amazing and had a lot of different layers of flavors, both sweet and smoky. The green beans were good, but not a must get! The calamari was fried well but the pieces were a bit small. I ordered the burger as my entree. It was a huge burger and came with a side of fries. I loved the bun and it was quite fluffy. The flavors of the burger with the meat, sauce, cheese and pickles pair well together. I do think some parts of either my bun or patty were a bit burnt and you could definitely taste that. For dessert, we got the bread pudding which was AMAZING! Would definitely recommend, it reminded me of a chocolate chip cookie but pillowy and delicious!

To end the night before we headed off to dinner, we stopped by The Semi- Tropic bar for drinks. The parking situation was difficult to say the least-- there is no street parking or parking lot. And the neighborhood behind the bar is filled with park cars. We were lucky and parked at a parking lot that was for the surrounding business (so sorry to the pizza/ weed shop!). We arrived at around 6:30 PM so it wasn't too busy. We were greeted by one of the servers and she gave us options to either sit at a lounge table area or hightop tables. We opted for the hightop tables because we knew we weren't staying there for long. The server was friendly and patient as we looked over the menu for drinks. I've been sober for about a year so I only had water, my boyfriend ordered a Naoshima Dream, his cousin ordered a Mango Cart, and his cousin's girlfriend ordered a Lemon Drop Martini. The bar was super cute and hipster! I honestly would have loved going to this bar back when I used to drink. It's dimly lit, had a vintage 20's speakeasy feel to it and the music was a vibe. I'd recommend coming here for a little date with your partner or even coming with a group of friends. My boyfriend had been here once before and he said the food was really good and affordable. He had a panini and said for bar food it was a 10/10. We waited maybe like 10 minutes for our drinks to come, we were having such a fun time chatting and enjoying the environment that it didn't feel long at all. My boyfriend, his cousin, and his cousin's girlfriend really enjoyed their drinks. They said the drinks tasted "light" insinuating that there was barely any alcohol in it. Don't let the taste fool you, after finishing half of their drink there were full of smiles, giggles, and had a great buzz going. The prices here were all pretty fair for the cost and quality of the drinks. Would defintely recommend coming here for drinks and dinner for a date night or a night out with friends!

Sometimes the food is a bit salty, but otherwise full of healthy options (10 + kinds of salad and veggie dishes) with decedent choices, too (extra cheesy lasagna). It's a self service restaurant, but also expensive. You set your own table and pour your own water glasses. Dinner for two with beverages is easily $85 or more with tip. There are no refills on drinks like iced tea. The upside of it being self service, is you can hang out as long and chat as long as you like. There is good chance if you do linger that you might order desert or a second small $10 iced tea (with tax and tip). It would be quite easy to spend well over $100 for 2, without table service... If it were a little less expensive, I would be a regular... but if it were less expensive then it would be hard to find a table because that whole neighborhood would be hanging out here.

We went on a Wednesday night so it was basically empty idk if it's usually busy or not. The food was good, nothing super groundbreaking or out of the ordinary for me, but this is definitely more of a vibe spot in the best way possible. Our server was also really sweet. She noticed my nails were long and helped me out, plus gave me a really good drink recommendation, I think it was some kind of strawberry daiquiri, and I loved it. Overall, really good experience and I'd definitely come back.

It looks like a typical trendy coffee shop, which I'm not mad about, but I feel like you'd only know to come here for lunch if someone told you about it beforehand. I ordered the turkey avocado sandwich. Pro tip: the lunch menu starts at 10:30 a.m. The sandwich didn't look like much at first, but one bite in and I was sold. It has all the basics you'd want in a turkey avocado sandwich, but what really stood out were the generous portions. They definitely don't skimp on the ingredients. The real star, though, was the aged balsamic glaze. Whatever magical concoction they're using, it adds the perfect amount of sweetness and ties everything together. I know some people don't like sweet elements in their sandwiches, but that's their loss and more for me. It was absolutely delicious. The space itself has plenty of seating and is great whether you're looking to get some work done, catch up with a friend, or just enjoy your meal and coffee. My only heads-up is parking. It was a bit of a struggle. I had to circle the block a few times because most of the available spots were 15-minute parking, and the street is busy enough that turning around isn't always easy. Overall, this is definitely a spot I'll be bringing friends to for a casual lunch date. The sandwich alone is worth the visit.

tl;dr the chopped cheese is simple yet sophisticated; pair it with an eclectic coffee or tea for a…read moresurprisingly bougie take on bodega fare Although the chopped cheese is a bodega staple, these sandwiches fly under the radar even to native New Yorkers. For the uninitiated, the classic chopped cheese combines chopped ground beef, American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and condiments atop a hero roll; the result falls somewhere between a cheeseburger and a cheesesteak. Admittedly, I was never too impressed by the frill-free chopped cheeses in the Bronx -- the flavor reminded me most of a fast-food ground beef taco. Nonetheless, Angelinos flock to Chef Eric Park's Korean-ish coffee bar and sandwich shop Bodega Park for their tribute to the chopped cheese. Bodega Park's minimalist exterior and diminutive logo aren't as eye-catching as the neighboring wine shop and tattoo parlor. Outside, shamrock-green metal patio furniture is arranged underneath a row of white umbrellas. The interior is decidedly modern and minimalist. The cracked concrete floors are polished, and sunlight flows in through the windows. The whitewashed walls are decorated just with light wood slats and a Dodgers-esque Bodega Park sweater. Comfy upholstered chairs are pressed up to the sleek tables, and contemporary rap echoes around the room. I've been multiple times for weekday lunch, and the queue has varied from nonexistent to trailing out the door. Most recently, I opted for the signature Bodega Chopped Cheese, as well as a Misugaru Black Sesame. My sandwich was deceptively delicious. My favorite component was the panini-pressed sesame hero roll, which put standard hoagie rolls to shame. The sesame-forward flavor was addictive, and the crispy texture held up surprisingly well to the toppings. Meanwhile, my rich, nutty misugaru was topped with an addictive sesame crema. The espresso version reminded me of a premium Frappuccino, while the espresso-free version channeled cookies & cream shake vibes. The service was efficient, and my bill ran $25. The least palatable part of the meal was the price. But Park's premium take on bodega fare intentionally caters to the Silverlake crowd, and he delivered the first chopped cheese that has left me game for seconds.

It felt more like going into a wine shop than a restaurant. Maybe it was an off day but even the staff were very quiet and not as inviting. We were seated in the back patio are. We got there at 8:30, we ordered some wine around 8:45 and they took our food order so around 9:05 our starters came out along with "kitchen is closing do you need anything else?" We felt very hurried to finish up and leave. The hummus and pesto was delicious and so was the roster chicken. We loved the Japanese sweet potatoes. The herb sauce was great on top. When the bill came out oh was over $100 over. They had changed an extra bottle of wine, one extra started and 5% for their insurance. And the staff adjusted it but even after adjusting the bill the first time it still was wrong and had to be sent back again to get readjusted. Again maybe it was an off day.
