If you're planning on seeing the sunset sitting at your dinner table plan on getting there a hour before sunset. Otherwise you can put your name in, pass through the bar & wait by the pool. There's some chaise lounges back there. The food is good. We had fried mahi, basil/tomato mahi, sea bass, blackened snapper and a tuna bowl. Everyone said their meal was delicious. I just discovered Sunset Grille on Marathon Key this past January and before I left my first dinner told my family that we have to come back. The atmosphere is nothing but fun, as they offer poolside outdoor seating out on the sea level patio or you can choose to stay up top and get a premier level sunset view from the larger capacity outdoor tiki style restaurant. We had two different waitresses on two different nights and entirely loved them both. Our party of 5 in both instances loved everything we ordered. I personally could not beat the cobb salad, adding grilled grouper in place of the grilled chicken. The Sunset hot sauce on the table was so good I went and bought a bottle to take with us before we left. Their giant party drinks are fun (you'll see what I mean if you go) and their beer & wine menu is enough to give you a few options to compliment your meal. I'm not recommending any more regarding the menu options because there were up to 5 more things I'd like to come back and try next time. Having said that, the single thing that blew my mind was the Sunset Grille she-crab soup was the best I've ever had. A+ to their she-crab soup. My husband and me recently visited the Sunset Grille & Raw Bar on our vacation to the Florida Keys. All I can say is we stopped here because they have really good reviews on different review sites. We went back the next day because the reviews did not do them justice. Although, the host was slightly unpleasant we were seated in a reasonable amount of time, no more than 30 minutes. While we waited we had drinks from the pool side bar, not as good as the drinks we were served at our table. The food did not take long at all to come out, and it came out food and fresh. The Taste was very robust and flavorful but not overpowering. One day we had the loaded tater tots, steak and calamari. The next day we had the surf and turf, steak and lobster. The atmosphere was amazing, with a lot of different activities and things to do for adults and children from cornhole to lounging in lounge chairs or watching a game on the projector. The service was very relaxed and laid-back. They didn't try to rush us off or make us feel like we were just taking up their tables. The servers could have been a little more attentive but it is a place where people go to relax and drink and have fun. We highly recommend that if you're in the area you stop by. read more

EXTREMELY busy and understaffed even in July. Food was good. Prime Rib and hubby had spare ribs. I finally found a place that serves middle neck raw clams instead of just oysters Hostess didn't know how to handle the crowd and never gave us silverware. Had to get it myself and wait for some to be cleaned. A hopping and exciting kind of place with an outside and inside bar, plenty of tables and even a pool with tables and chairs set around it. It's a popular attraction so don't be surprised if there is a wait or that there may be people using the restroom to change out of their swim wear (although the restrooms are for patrons only I suspect the women and kids I saw in the ladies room recently were from the beach across the road and not there to dine). We order food 2 appetizer 2poke bowl and 1 hamburger the wing sauce was horrible the steak roll was ok and the Kona bowl was slap together and everything cut horribly. The tuna had no spice it had about a pound of jalapeño more than the rice. Burger came out dryer than my sandals when request was medium. When we got the bill it was $200 did the math called her back and said this is not right she said tip was included that made me furious because I don't have a problem tipping but you are not going to force me a 22% tip when you don't deserve it. My daughter could not finish her burger so we ask for a box the waitress took for eve so we went to the front and ask for a box the phone twins response was ask your server that not our job. At that point I ask for the manager. Spoke to the manager and it was like he didn't give a shit. So as for this knowledge I will not be ever returning to this place again and I wrote this 4 days later so I could write a nicer review than what I would have. read more

Ended off with homemade Key Lime Pie. Stars Award: Mango Crab Stack: 4 - layered crab dip with blue crab dip, avocado, chopped tomatoes, diced jalapeño and freshly diced mango. Pro: it was good and flavorful. Ingredients layered in a bear presentation and served with butter crackers Con: needs a sliced of lemon or lime for the Citric acid taste. Can taste the blue crab but avocado was a little plain w/out the citric acid Seafood Paella: wife 3 stars, me 4 stars - so 3 1/2 stars Curry sauce with scallops, shrimp, chorizo, butter clams, and lobster bits. Pro: flavorful and had enough seafood except the lobster bits. Hardly had any. Will feed two unless you are really hungry. Con: hardly any lobster Key Lime Pie: 3 stars Pro: homemade with good crust. Tart flavor Con: after-bitterness when you take a bite. Hate to say it but the Steak and Lobster Grill has better Key Lime Pie Service: our server was gracious, pleasant and efficient. For a group of four to eat we spent a little over $240. I had a good time swimming however no other adults in my party were willing to adventure with me. Definitely a cool place if you are with fun people but also don't have high expectations on food/drinks. Also they delivered clams instead of oysters to the table and it took us telling the server three times before he finally stopped arguing brought the shell to the chef and he realized he was wrong and actually remade the item. I got Brussels sprouts chips very light dish not super filling, seaweed salad and a vegetable roll. All good I consumed was 3/5 stars nothing super special. The bartender out back while we waited for our table seemed to think that we wronged her in some way and felt that every order was an issue. The bathrooms were very nice and extremely well done. One of two sinks did not work in the men's room. The paper towel dispenser was also empty. There was no alternative like a hand drier... Steven the bartender is AWESOME. He seems to thrive even under pressure. Provided us fantastic service and the way he handles a rush is better than any other bartender I've observed. Very impressive. The wait for tables is usually pretty long at dinner time and the closer you get to sunset the worse it is. Plan ahead and go a little earlier if the wait times bother you. You can get in quicker as a couple by just sitting near the bar. We did this both time and ordered food and it worked out great. The location is top notch if you'd like to view the sunset. Absolutely gorgeous! There's a patio area with a pool and another bar. The food this time was really good. The service from wait staff can be hit and miss, but hey - you're on vacation! Go in with a positive attitude and you'll be fine. The tables don't get bussed quickly like they used to but we chalked this up to being understaffed due to the pandemic. We observed some other customers being nasty toward the wait staff and we thought this was ridiculous. They are working hard and busting their butts despite the challenges of the pandemic. BE NICE! We were forewarned about the slow service in their outdoor seating but chose to utilize their bay views anyways. The food was okay. The conch was one of the better items. As was the coconut shrimp. The space itself is fairly large in size and the inside was pretty much filled up. They have a private dock for those interested in driving your boat up which was a nice touch. Stopped in for a snack while staying at the nearby Isla Bella hotel and was pleasantly surprised at how huge this waterfront tiki bar space is. We had mojitos with a generous enough pour for a gentle buzz and a selection of appetizers. The brussel sprouts were kind of flimsy but came with a sweet pear soy glaze. The fries were topped with chimmichurri and a dusting of cheese, which sounded better on the menu than in reality. On the other hand, the clam chowder was fresh and piping hot and the poke nachos (which are served on a wonton rather than nachos) tasted like they came directly from the boat to our table and were garnished with cilantro and avocado, making for an excellent healthy midday bite. Great view of the water and the Seven Mile Bridge. The restaurant also has a pool that was lightly used. I was a bit apprehensive about the service after reading some downer reviews here on Yelp but our waitress, who appeared to be on something, did a decent job getting us fed quickly. This place is clean. There are beautiful views. They are following CDC guidelines. In the Keys the rule is that you wear a mask to your table and when you stand up, you mask up. We were greeted the moment we walked up and sat immediately. Lisa was our server and she was polite, friendly, attentive. They have specialty drinks that come with souvenir cups. Some are really adorable. I loved the monkeys. And the food. Wow. It came out really fast. It was all cooked perfectly. The steak is seasoned differently than anywhere else in the country I've been. Our server was amazing and delightful but the drinks had not much taste and food was below par. Crab mac and cheese for reason was all cooked together in a baking dish resulting in mushy overcooked pasta with little to no crab and hard to chew bacon, the cheese tasted like dollar store cheese. The worst Mac and cheese dish I have ever had. For recommendations I would improve not only the portion size but also the process of cooking to a full stove top pan and not a small baking dish thrown into the oven.
