    Mussel bisque

Off season in HHI allowed us to find this gem of a restaurant off the beaten path with limited hours. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sunset Grille is truly a second story restaurant located on the water and off the beaten path( located in an RV park )[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our table was next to the windows where we could appreciate the fantastic view of the wildlife and also some amazing boats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The crowd in the room was mature , no children, and at best was 24 people - Sunset Grille is truly and intimate place[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For appetizers we shared the baked feta Hot baked feta w/herbs, grape tomatoes & olive oil. Served with toast points and water crackers this was a tasty bite. The second appetizer was a cup of mussel bisque! I've had plenty of bisque thru the years but never mussels.. DELICIOUS! Creamy, salty, potatoes, plenty of mussels and a nice hit of sherry the bisque was so good my wife stated if we lived close i"d take a bucket of this home! Entrees, my wife has the Seafood Cakes - Two delicious cakes filled w/ shrimp, crab & today's fresh catch w/ Lemon caper cream sauce, rice & vegetables. The cakes were a huge portion with quality ingredients. I had the Crispy Pork Belly, FANTASTIC! Crispy pork belly sweet potato hash w/ house made sausage, poblanos, onions & Sirache honey. I've had pork belly but never a portion as large as this - Two pieces , excellent quality, taste and Accoutrements . The pork belly won't leave you hungry and yes I ate the FULL PORTION. Our final, one delicious slice of carrot cake ! Baked on site , , incredibly moist, and possibly the best carrot cake we"ve had The Lockman"s and their friendly and capable staff made our dinner feel special

We have been several time through the years and the absolute best thing you can say is the consistency of everything there. Food, service, atmosphere and overall pleasant experience is all you can ask for. Thank you too all made our experience memorable.

This place is so cute, my friends and I loved it! We had a reservation around sunset time--it is called Sunset Grille after all. The restaurant is kind of secluded and hard to find, even if you're looking for it. You have to go up a flight of steps and the door is hard to open, and opens into one of the tables (as opposed to a hostess stand). Once we were seated we took in the view and got ready to order. The menu that day was slightly different than the one online; not sure if this is because it changes frequently or the online one is a little out of date. We began with the Cajun Fried Oysters. We really liked these, the Gorgonzola and balsamic paired great together. For entrees we got the Chipotle Braised Short Ribs, the Glazed Pork Belly, and the Scallop and Crab Risotto. The risotto was excellent, really the star of the three entrees we got. The short ribs and the pork belly were also really good. Our waitress was able to tempt us with dessert. We ordered the chocolate bread pudding with bourbon glaze, the cheesecake, and the carrot cake. The bread pudding was the best one here, the bourbon glaze was amazing. The waitress really talked up the carrot cake, and it was good but I'd stick with the bread pudding. Really nice and unique place, with beautiful views. I would definitely come back and I would definitely recommend!

Another great meal at SG. Was very pleased to see a veg friendly option on the menu this year!

Had two delicious dinners at Sunset Grille on our recent HHI sojourn, once with gorgeous sunset and once on a cloudy night. Service is so good and each time I ordered the special and was delighted. So friendly. Such good food. And a view to enjoy in rain or shine! Will be back again!

The food and service were terrific. They had the most amazing crab quiche we've ever had, and the pan seared trout was equally good.

Their menu truly has something for everyone. I'm more of an adventurous eater than my mother and HogsHead has unique options and more classic ones too. Their dining room is warm and inviting as is their bar area. We started with their Warm Brie & Pear "Jezebel" appetizer, which was like a deconstructed version of baked brie. It had prosciutto, pecans, spinach, cranberry and an orange ginger vinaigrette. It was delicious! For our entrees, I ordered one of the specials, the Jambalaya. My mom got the BBQ ribs and my fiance had the Caribbean Jerk Pork Chops. All three entrees were out of this world. It was easily one of the best meals I've had in the Hilton Head area. There's one chef and a sous chef in the kitchen, and they're knocking it out of the park. I highly recommend HogsHead!

Starting with the burger, I like when a smash burger is ACTUALLY a smash burger. They include cheese and pickles on it and it was just the perfect burger. I think it's pretty high on my burger rankings. Might even beat Heavy's! I feel like it's rare to get waffle fries unless you're going to Chick Fil A, so it was nice to have them with our burger. We got a bag to share and there was plenty. They were salted and seasoned to perfection and perfectly crispy. We sat outside where they have a full bar, a TV for sports, and they had live music.

The Good: The Smashburgers are excellent -- cheese, pickles,…read moreand onions all on point. If you haven't been here, stop settling for chain burger joints. This is genuinely one of the best burgers around. The waffle fries deserve a special mention: fresh, nicely done, and you get a generous portion. Think Chick-fil-A fries, but the way they should be. The Truffle Fries are solid too -- just a bit rich for my taste, but that's purely personal preference. I also tried the Sweet & Spicy Chicken -- good and flavorful, though slightly heavy on the batter for me. Still worth a try. A Couple of Suggestions: A lower-carb side option would be a welcome addition -- I asked and it was a hard no. Hopefully Tin and Tallow considers adding some healthier alternatives down the road. Breakfast -- Proceed with Caution: The croissant with egg and cheese was, unfortunately, a miss for me. The egg and cheese were fine, but buttering an already butter-heavy croissant and griddling it turned it into a flat, gooey mess. I hear there's a biscuit option, which might be better -- but personally, I'd love to see an English muffin or bagel on the menu. Something with a little more structure would go a long way. Bottom Line: Come for the burgers and fries -- you won't be disappointed. Just maybe skip the croissant breakfast for now.

It doesn't feel corporate or manufactured at all. More like you've stumbled into somebody's lovingly chaotic backyard dinner party where the food just happens to be genuinely top-tier. The mismatched charm, handwritten feel, and warm atmosphere are part of what makes it so special. There's this brilliant contrast between the laid-back hole-in-the-wall vibe and the seriously refined cooking coming out of the kitchen. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were incredibly tender, fried perfectly, and drizzled with a lovely house-made ranch. The sweet house pickles alongside were such a good touch. We also each had a cup of she crab soup which was beautifully seasoned and packed with tonnes of crab morsels. For mains, we shared the shrimp and grits and completely understood why the recipe has won awards, including being recognised as the 3rd best in the world. The recipe is rooted in traditional Lowcountry cooking but elevated with layers of flavour that somehow still feel comforting and homemade. The grits were unbelievably creamy, and the shrimp and sausage were perfectly cooked with fantastic flavour throughout. We also split the seafood purloo with blackened grouper, and it was equally impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh without trying too hard to be fancy. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond. They took time to chat with us about the area, paced the courses perfectly so nothing felt rushed, and by the end we were leaving with handshakes feeling more like guests than customers. Places like this are getting harder to find. We'll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lowcountry food served by genuinely wonderful people.
