My birthday weekend in Napa concluded with breakfast at this place before heading home. We were there after 9AM and already a line out the door (a good sign). Waited maybe 15min and we were seated at the bar. Upon seating, we looked at the menu and was promptly greeted by a friendly guy working behind the bar (another good sign that service would be good, AND it was). Wow. I know it was Monday but really bad service. Our waitress was a whirling dervish ponytail tatooed lady with no filter. Coffee, water and everything in general was really hard to get served. I ordered the salmon toast special with a Bloody Mary. My bestie ordered the petite omelette. What she received instead was an egg dish with human hair in it. Once pointing it out to our waitress she pointed to someone who may be her manager (no idea) and once this person inspected the dish... Oh No- Let me get you a new one. Which she did. This is why I love Yelp!! Finding cute little hole in the wall restaurants that you would probably not walk into when you are an out of towner like myself! You get to experience little hidden gems like this one! Super cute inside!!! Service from the host on was just perfect and the best part is coming...yes their food is delicious! Hubby and I did our usual...checked out images on Yelp and could not make a decision...so we ordered a few of the dishes that looked like what we would enjoy sharing and we picked some winners that's for sure!! I must admit I was a little hesitant on trying their gravy but boy let me tell you...that gravy is one of a kind! Not your usual gravy...thick and delish!! The staff is friendly but they should probably hire more servers because this place is very busy, which is why they get the orders wrong. The food isn't the best, but okay.I won't eat there unless someone else is treating. Came on a Saturday morning around 10am and had to wait about 15-20 min for a table which didn't take too long. The staff are super friendly, attentive, and efficient. Our waitress brought a very positive energy which was nice and she was on it with all of our requests. As for the food, everything is amazing and you get decent sized portions. The corned beef hash tasted delicious! Definitely would recommend because you can taste how tender the meat is from all of the braising and it's rustic style so you get nice chunks (5 out of 5). The fried chicken and waffles was also delicious as the fluffy waffle had a nice vanilla taste that really comes through (4 out of 5). The smoked salmon Benedict was tasty, but I'd eat anything with that chive hollandaise sauce it's covered in. Perfectly poached eggs and enough salmon that you get some in every bite which is great. The only thing I would change is I wish my potatoes were crispier (4 out of 5). Otherwise I'd definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

We arrived around 5:30 and were seated promptly by the friendly hostess and after we were seated our waitress arrived just as fast. Drinks came out quickly and we enjoyed watching the Warriors Game on the big TV over the bar while we waited. Food came out about 10 minutes later and was delicious. My mom and I came here on a Saturday morning and tried this place for the first time. The corned beef hash was fresh but cubes the size of a six sided dice. That's not really hash in my book. Eggs were perfectly cooked, potatoes were also quite good. Rye toast was a nice touch, and the coffee was rich, and a little too strong for me. My mom enjoyed her biscuits and gravy, but the bacon was thin and greasy. People were friendly, and the service was good. I might try this place again for something else, my mom would not. read more

I have tried several meals from here since my boss offers me a meal at least once a week. I keep trying something different in hopes to find something I will really like. The potatoes are flavorless. The corned beef was super super dry. The coconut shrimp... I've had better that I bought from a freezer in the grocery store. Salads... same as the shrimp.. I'd rather buy a bagged salad from Lucky next door. I did get a burger with no bun one time and chopped it up into a salad, which was better than their actual salads. If you're going to try anything from Sunshine, I recommend the buttermilk milkshake. One star for the delicious milkshake and one start for the burger I was able to salvage when turned into a salad. read more

There isn't many places in the North Napa that serves a proper breakfast until this place came alone. Now we have a place where we can get a diner style breakfast. it seems like most breakfast spots are on the southern end of town (if you want eggs, potatoes etc.) Service here is always good and depending on the time, it can be super busy or a bit slow. However, the food comes up at a decent pace and the food always taste good. Beware of the French toast and pancakes, depending on what you would like, they can be very sweet. However, I do see people drenching their pancakes or French Toast with loads of syrup, so I suppose that it is what it is suppose to be. This is definitely a local spot, if you are from out of town, it won't be anything that will amaze you, however, we need these spots everywhere in the US. read more

Im a local who comes here for brunch often. It is delicious every time! The service can be slow sometimes, depending on the server, when they are busy. It's decorated nicely and cute, but I always eat outside. It's very sunny and hot, but they have umbrellas so it's not bad. I LOVE their cocktails and pancakes! I get them every time. Been here many times. Normally have a good experience. Today, however, we had 3 very negative encounters with the new manager. At one point I'd asked if I could close the door with cold air blowing in on us. Instead of "of course, I'll take care of that for you" it was a snippy "I'll do it in a few minutes." Although we were seated almost immediately, it was 15 minutes before anyone came to pour water or take our order. The waitress was apologetic and cheerful when she came. Placed our order and waited close to 20 minutes before asking when our food might come. Several tables around us who'd been seated well after us had been served and were finishing when our food finally came. The manager came over to us, asked whether we'd ordered at the table (where else?) and instead of saying "so sorry for the wait" she told us when you place an order it's 14 minutes before it's up. Basically made it clear we had no reason to complain. Our waitress was great, again apologetic for the delay. But the manager, though she comped our meal, was so off-putting, we may not be back. At the least, if we see that she's still front of the house, we'll head somewhere else for breakfast. Too bad, because we like avoiding the touristy downtown, and have enjoyed the locals atmosphere. read more
