One of my newer breakfast spots in Napa and OMG, they are one of the best breakfast spots Napa has to offer in my opinion! Their food is fresh and the flavors are crazy good! Their potato pancakes are my favorite! Crunchy on the outside and nice and soft in the middle! Their sausage taste amazing and you can tell they make it in-house. The scone of the day is another one of my favorite things to order because its always different and the flavors are fresh and so delicious! They are NOT super dry which I truly appreciate. I recently had their apple cinnamon pancakes and they are a new fav! Soft pancakes, nice and butter-y and not overly sweet! Seriously one of my new favorites. They have a full espresso bar and bar! Their specialty coffee's are nice and rich and taste so great with breakfast! Visited for the first time on the recommendation of my neighbor. It may have been an off event, but what a disappointment. Service was slow and matter of fact. Had to ask for my coffee three times and it did not arrive until had already begun my dish. I ordered smoked salmon Benedict. Presentation was good and the potatoes excellent. However, the hollandaise was barely luke warm and my perfectly poached eggs were stone cold. Not what I had expected. And when I asked for the check it took way too long before the server dropped it. We ended up eating breakfast here twice on our road trip vacation. The location is easy to access in a strip mall. Second day weather was much improved and many were eating outside. The staff here is adorable and well-mannered. The food is awesome. First day I had the avocado toast which came with a small salad including heirloom tomatoes! Stopped by this little cafe for breakfast since it is close to our hotel and there's outdoor sitting for our doggie. So glad we did! As soon as we approached the table, server came out with menus for us and super efficient with our coffee and water. Lots of great choices on the menu and our choices were delish! I ordered the corned beef hash skillet; my husband ordered Kitchen Sink Skillet. Came our steaming hot! Large enough serving for us to bring home half for another meal! My daughter and I have visited this restaurant several times. We were quickly becoming regulars. Good food, decent prices. Slow service but still worth it. After today we will not be back and feel the need to warn others. WATCH THE STAFF WITH YOUR MONEY! Our bill was $44, I gave our server $100. She brought me back $34 in change. My daughter told her she shorted us. She gave us another $10 and told my daughter her boss said that is all she owed us. My daughter went to the "boss" and told her what happened. She told the waitress to give us the rest of our change. The vibe was bad, I am certain people are ripped off there often. We still left her a tip even though she didn't bother bringing us our drinks until after our food came and served us dirty water, not to mention, tried to steal from us. tried to come in this morning for some nice breakfast with my mother, we were greeted kindly as soon as we came through the door and sat right away. A few minutes later a girl comes over to pours us water and tells my mother she can't have her outside coffee and I let her know that the lady who sat us noticed the outside cup of coffee and she didn't say anything. I understand there is a sign at the door which I obviously missed but if you're going to enforce a policy you should do it before sitting guests not when they're already at a table. read more

I used to own a successful cafe so I consider myself a pretty good judge of restaurants, especially one's like Sunshine Cafe in Napa. I have eaten here twice now and both times I ordered several dishes to taste and share. Both times the food, ambiance, and service were EXCELLENT! On this latest visit we ordered the "Meat" Benedict, Kitchen Sink Skillet, and the Bananas Foster French Toast (second time ordering this). The "Meat" Benedict was a delicious twist on a classic and combined savory, juicy sausage and Italian ham. What really made it special was the English muffin. It was fabulous, thick, tender, and NOT chewy (something I cannot stand in a Benedict). The Kitchen Sink Skillet was okay; a large portion though if you're hungry. The fried potatoes were crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked and delicate on the inside (baked then fried?--probably). Then, the finale was the Bananas Foster French Toast. It is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Three thick slices of bread, dipped in egg, then dipped in crushed corn flakes. There is just the right amount of cinnamon, rum, and a mixture of both crunchy banana chips AND fresh banana slices. Are you hungry yet?! While I was waiting for my son to arrive I tried a Bloody Mary which was good, but I've had better. The coffee though? Wow! It is rich and delicious. I took off a star for an initial issue with Sunshine (which was corrected on a second visit) so perhaps this is really 4.5 starts but one of the key things a restaurant needs to do, especially for breakfast, is serve hot things hot and that didn't happen the 1st time...but the food is very very good so back we went and, after mentioning our previous experience, we got everything hot. You really can't go wrong with anything you order here but be sure you have a decent credit limit on your plastic (after all, this is Napa). read more

This was a local restaurant recommended two nights before we ended up here for breakfast. Although there was a wait, it was worth it! The staff is efficient and friendly, giving our party time to look over the menu but also providing suggestions. The walls have many sunflowers painted on them and gave this Kansas native a little taste of home. That preamble to my little review of this joint was for one reason - so that when I call this place ABSOLUTELY PERFECT - I really do mean it. I have been here from the second day they opened...and probably eaten here 12 times in the 2 months they have been open. And in my life I have never been to a place that does their over easy eggs so perfect ...like roll your eyes and silently mouth : "oh my God" perfect ...from what must be eggs right off the farm. Bravo and a standing ovation to this entire team... Getting it Right out the gate of any restaurant is one of the hardest things to do in the world... People have no idea how hard those first few months are. This was a Sistine chapel of restaurant openings in the hardest time of the world to open a restaurant with staffing. What a gem! We had been hearing about this new spot and decided to give it a try. From the outside you wouldn't be able to tell how spacious it really is inside. Passed by this spot after dropping off our dog to the groomers. We had one of our other dogs with us so we thought we'd order to go. We thought it would be a small cafe. When we got there, there was outside dining. We went in to check in and it was actually pretty big inside. It was packed. Great decor, very clean and staff was super friendly and attentive. We got seated outside quickly. A lot of families came with their dogs. That was nice to see! Even though it was busy, our server came quick and was really sweet. She even gave our dog a bowl of water. Got our food pretty fast too! We had: Corned beef hash and eggs with a side of pancakes and sourdough toast - Hubs loved it. Very flavorful and eggs were poached perfectly. Pancakes were a miss. Seemed like soemthing was missing. They were kind of bland. Bacon and eggs breakfast - My daughter enjoyed it! Even though it was just scrambled eggs and bacon, she said it was also very flavorful and eggs were fluffy and bacon was cooked just right. Not burnt and super crispy. Again, in Napa always looking for new restaurants. One morning we were headed into town proper so started looking for something on our way. We came across this place in a strip mall. Hmmmm, strip mall restaurant?? I'm not sure. The reviews were great and upon driving by it we noticed people waiting outside. Good sign. Went in, and the place is packed. Wait time about 20 minutes. After a short wait and growing crowd outside we finally were seated. Shortly thereafter Momo's for my partner and champs for me were being consumed. Breakfast was amazing and filling. I asked a server about the Fume logo I saw on the menu. Turns out it is owned by the same family as well as the bar next door. Given the food and service it makes sense. Now we have a delema, Sunshine Cafe or Fume? I think if we are up early, it's Sunshine since they open earlier and if we are heading to wineries north of town, then Fume. Today was my first visit for Father's Day breakfast. The cafe is very cute inside and the hostess was a sweetheart. She told me it would be a 20 minute or less wait and it was. Once we were seated it was down hill from there. Our first interaction with our waitress was about 25 minutes after we were seated. She didn't introduce herself, we had to ask what her name was. Once our food was served to our table after 40 minutes, our food was served lukewarm except for my dad's French toast. I didn't say anything because we were hungry and I prefer to just eat and go about my day unless it's really bad. Our waitress never check in with us until we were completely done. Our tab was $85 for 2 adults and 1 child. Personally, I don't think it was worth it. I don't think I'll be returning. There's other breakfast joints that have better prices and that I've had better experiences at. read more

I have been raving to everyone - co-workers , family from afar , and friends - about this place to experience the food and customer service and the ambiance it delivers. Ive been coming here for breakfast numerous times with my son , but never thought I'd come to this to write and share this unexpected review. I stepped in to the establishment while my party was finding a parking space. There was an older couple ahead and another party who were put on the list before me . She asked if I wanted to be seated inside or out, I opted for inside . A minute or two later, my party walked towards the entrance to find me . I asked if inside was still okay. My party changed his mind to be seated outside . I walked to the hostess to tell her we've decided to eat outside . Immediately, I found a shift in her demeanor when she saw him walked in and stood beside me . She replied 'There are people in front of you, there's a line and I need to ask them FIRST if they want to eat outside because you're behind them' '. After she turned her attention to the parties before me, she did NOT ask them if they wanted an outside seating instead. I was puzzled with her statement and actions that I turned to my partner and asked, 'may be we should go somewhere else ?.' He replied , 'wait! Let's see how this turns out !' During this time, we observed her seating the parties before us, 'hosting ' other patrons in line, having side-bar conversations , smiling, laughing, while we sat there for at least 10 minutes feeling invisible. My party observed her glancing our direction not saying a word to us. Finally , my name was called, she said we'll sit inside, but we stated no, we wanted outside . As we were walking to the tables , a group was outside and she asked them if they were being helped WHILE she was STILL taking us to the table to be seated . There were still people in line awaiting for her to seat them in the restaurant that came in after us . Then, she sat these people, out of order , to sit the table next to us , and they had NO WAIT to sit outside be side us. We waited for our server to say hello or even to acknowledge us with water , but nothing came our way. My lunch partner was watching and observing the expressions and mannerisms/ body language of the hostess, the wait staff and servers . I asked him 'what are you looking at ?' He stated, 'YOU are about to learn what subconscious bias is' . I did not know what he meant by that or what he is seeing as I am not aware of what is truly happening behind my back . He quietly stated , while putting the menu down on the table, ' If something happens , follow suit' . I had to have him repeat this again. He said ' Just follow suit .' I trusted him and then I said ' okay.' In the next 10 seconds, a waitress came out and looked over at us . My partner looked up at her, she looked away swiftly, and then she proceeded to attend, and then smiled , at the party seated next to us, who I mentioned earlier the hostess that greeted with a smile with excellent customer service , and started to take their order before us. At this point, it clicked what my lunch partner saw coming all along. We closed our menus, he stood up, I stood up , and as we walked away , he said ' THIS is what subconscious bias feels like. ' We felt invisible, ignored , and did not receive the same courtesy, nor treatment, like the others who were seated before OR after us. I hope this heightens awareness to treat everyone with the same level of respect and kindness. read more

We got to try completely different dishes than we did the first time we came & once again, everything was DELICIOUS. I got the Bananas Foster French Toast. SO. GOOD. I also ordered their Boozy Hot Chocolate. I don't normally drink so I knew ordering it was risky but I was just so curious. Took a sip & it hit me in the back of the throat! But it was good! I'm a lightweight tho so I gave the rest to my cousin LOL. I ended up ordering their regular hot chocolate. At the end of the meal, we got our check, & Megan took off the Boozy Hot Chocolate off the tab she said "since you didn't like it" & I was like, "omg! Its ok the others drank it!"
