TL;DR: Super Nail demanded cash only without warning or signage and then scammed me out of $20 when I paid. If you go here and pay cash, be sure to count out each bill carefully. I used to come here often in college several years ago and came back this time because I needed a last minute nail job, but I will absolutely not be coming back again. I came to Super Nail for an acrylic full set with gel paint (and also wound up adding a pedicure with gel paint upon their offer to do so, even though they were near closing). According to them, the services totaled $101, which I don't dispute. Considering I was a walk in and came by about 30 minutes before closing, I can't complain about the quality of the work (see photos). My main concern is with how they handled the payment. At no point before they began my service did they say anything about being cash only, nor was there any signage that said so. After they finished my pedicure but while still in the middle of my full set, they asked me if I was paying cash or card, and I said card. As soon as I said card, they asked me to stop in the middle of being serviced and go next door to a liquor store ATM for cash (they also did the same to the customer who left before me). The liquor store ATM was out of cash and the cashier could not give cash back for more than $100, so I had to go to an ATM at nearby Vons. I withdrew $120, which showed up immediately on my online bank statement. I counted the bills at the ATM and it was all there, so I placed it in my wallet. I went back to the shop and when I handed over the stack of cash and told her it was $120 (which I now know I should have counted out), the woman turned her back to me briefly with the rest of their cash take for the day in her other hand, and then she turned back to me and said I only gave her $100. What I think happened was that she quickly took one of the $20 bills and mixed it with the rest of their cash take so that she could come back and tell me I underpaid them (by $1 at that). Although I pulled up the transaction on my bank statement to show them I had just withdrawn $120, I only disputed this with them briefly because I was the last customer in the shop and it would have been me against the four workers. Thankfully I had a little extra cash in my purse so I was able to pay the amount due plus a small $12 tip. Their payment practices are extremely shady and I will no longer be coming here, nor do I recommend that anybody else go to Super Nail. read more

I know I'm not creative in my color choices and I have ugly toes!!! But I've been to this place three times, the first time I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure. Hannah did the gel manicure and THE NEXT DAY it started to peel off!! I went back and had the gel removed and a regular manicure by I believe her name was Rose and she did a fine job. I went back yesterday and luck of the draw got Hannah again! She was taking off gels that I had done a month ago at an out of town salon that still looked decent despite having been on a month! She used the dremel tool even though the nail had soaked enough that a cotton ball would have easily wiped off the polish. I didn't notice the bubbly toe until I got home, and now 2 days later my nails are chipping because she didn't paint the edges... I'm certain my nail beds are now toast, but hope they'll be okay. This nail salon is the most terrible nail salon I have ever been to. I got regular polish with gel and the gel crumpled up the next day. I do this everywhere else I go and it never happens. They are pretty rude and terrible technicians. I honestly don't think they have all been to school for nails. I had to tell her to shape my nails for my fill which I thought was normal? The nail polish job is terrible even without the gel. I will be posting pictures so ladies do yourself a favor and go anywhere other than this place! Go pay for an actual technician to do your nails! I have been coming here for nearly a year, and I've been coming here that long for the convenience of it being so close to my apartment. The prices here are decent, and they do an overall good job. HOWEVER, for the past 3 or so months, one of my acrylics keeps breaking! Every time I go in I tell them that an acrylic broke, and they apologize. But a few days later, I could see my acrylic separating from my nail!!! One of my nails broke again, so I went in. One of the ladies there always told me that if I broke a nail, I wouldn't get charged. But this time the lady was very adamant that she was going to charge me an extra $5 for my broken nail! After all of this, I still went back. And last week I got my nails filled (last time I'll ever go) and the service was so hectic. It got busy while they were filling my nails, and it was about an hour until closing. The staff was very hectic, yelling amongst one another and making it a not so relaxing environment. The lady doing my nails ran out of nail polish while she was doing my nails too! So ridiculous. She then said she was out of the color, and now my nails look very bad. A day after I got them done, my nail BROKE AGAIN. So yeah, I gave this place a LOT of chances. I feel bad writing this review, as most of the staff is nice there. Usually, I see Kim for gel manicures and Lucy for the pedicures. Both ladies are kind and efficient and give great massages with the mani/pedi. In the past, they have gently accommodated my broken foot or time concerns with a smile and gentle touch. The salon offers massage chairs, A/C, and now a TV (though I must mention, I do not find political news shows relaxing atmosphere, and wish they would put something else on...or ideally no TV at all). They do take walk-in appts, but there can be a wait occasionally, and can be very busy leading into a weekend or holiday. Prices are reasonable. Parking is plentiful. I'm only giving 4 stars because of the TV...if they didn't have it, they'd get the full 5 stars. read more

So I found Super Nail & I was so happy that they close at 8pm and accept walk in on that night. I was so shocked when they told me gel French nail cost $48 for mani & $58 for pedi! They explained that it's more work for a French nail than regular one color gel. So the breakdown was, let's say for a gel pedicure, $36 gel pedi initial charge, $16 more because it's French nail (more work), and $6 more for removing your old gel pedi. They literally will rob you blind! What if you want more decorations to it? I don't want to ask. I bet it's extra too. The place I usually go to before 7pm at Linda Vista area only charges $20 +tax+tip. And the work were exactly the same and with massages too. I have been coming here for 5 years specifically for my facial waxing (cough cough). Tami is the best waxer. I'm not big on the lady pampering side nor do I do any basic upkeep of all the feminine requirements; I honestly prefer to spend all my time watching football but apparently it is frowned upon for a lady to have hairy eyebrows or should I say eyebrow :/ Ha ha. Needless to say upon my first visit Tami took really good care of me. She shaped my eyebrows to make them look perfect on my face and removed any other unsightful facial hair (shhh...). This was the first time I ever heard about eyebrow shaping and I was surprised to find it works well and compliments my facial features. I only get waxed by Tami and whenever Tami is unavailable and I'm facing a facial emergency I go see an independent beauty consultant in Lemon Grove that I was referred to by a family member. I have great success there as well. Tami's prices are moderately priced, she spends the time to get to know you and finds out exactly what you what since everyone has different waxing preferences. After 5 years and I'm thoroughly pleased and look forward to my regular waxing appointments. I have also gotten pedi's and mani's here but was unsatisfied with the job performance. The manicurists were nice but I wasn't pleased with my nails. A portion of my nails were not painted, they didn't listen to the length I requested for filing (they were either too long or too short), and they cut my skin several times while trimming my cuticles.
