Their arugula and chicken salad is shockingly delicious for being such a simple dish. The lemon dressing is super light and "summery" and it has so much chicken in it. Best $12 salad I have had. Their cold brew is alright.... I have had much better and I have had way worse. The only thing that really sucks here are the chairs! They have these wicker basket chairs that leave temporary indentations on your butt. I don't know if this is a sneaky way to prevent people from lingering here too long but it worked! read more

Been driving by this place ever since I started working in Pasadena couple times a month, went to the one in Venice many years ago and thought I needed to give it a try. Love the space super open lots of area able to move through. Service is pretty low-key I got there shortly after opening, I asked them to pick out eight other most popular treats so I can treat my team at work, and the boxes they gave me were beautiful and it all looked so delicious I only got to sample two of them, will definitely go back. I tasted the kouign amman, tasty as AF! The bombolone was so yummy, so creamy inside and I love the crunch of cinnamon and sugar. The breakfast sandwich I would skip. I'll start with saying that I do think everything I ate or drank tasted objectively good -- my review will mainly focus on the value of it all, which I think is actually quite poor. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with oat milk which cost right around $6. Little did I know that it would be served in something akin to a free water cup you get from like Panda express. Very very tiny serving and comes with a paper straw that is going to be unusable after five minutes, so you might as well throw it away before you start. Same goes for the breakfast burrito. Good, liked the cheese crust, the two sauces are tasty, but each half is like four or five bites. It fits in the palm of your hand and goes down too quickly. Especially for $11. Our croissant was average. Flaky, but stiff, and it was pretty cold. There are no outlets that I found, most seats have no backs, and it's a small space overall. Not ideal for working. If you're looking for better value and the same quality or better, walk across the street to Jones, plenty of seating, outlets, and good drinks (that are much bigger). read more

GREAT service. The male cashier that helped me was fantastic. He gave real helpful and honest suggestions. Some workers tend to just suggest the higher priced options, but he only gave suggestions on what would really fit to our liking. The black sesame milkshake is a MUST. I will come back just to get this over & over. I'm not a huge black sesame person but the blend is just right with a touch of sweetness from the ice cream and savory from the black sesame. Matcha latte was also great. You can tell that they use higher quality matcha. Unfortunately they were all out of hash browns so we couldn't order the smothered one- but that led us to us trying the made-to-order madeline and it was divine. I never had madeline fresh out of the oven and boy is it heavenly! If you're at superba you should definitely try them. It has a hint of lemon which makes it very refreshing. For food- we got the al pastor crunch bowl and breakfast burrito. I didn't really read the description of the crunch bowl and thought it would come over a bed of rice or something- but it's actually just a salad. A very good salad though! Loved peruvian corn nuts + crispy tortillas in them. It added a very nice crunch to the bowl. Breakfast burrito was also good. I think the melted cheese on the outside of the burrito makes it really special. It adds an extra flavor and texture to the dish. Loved the avocado creama too! The vibe is nice. Today was my first and most likely last time going to Superba Snacks + Coffee (about 10:08AM on 2/16/23) in Pasadena, CA. The food & coffee were good. The service was not particularly friendly, but it's the kind of place you order & pick up the food at the counter yourself, so whatever. After my friends & I bussed our table, I accidentally walked into a huge screw sticking out of their glass door. The glass door was temporarily "fixed" with wood & these giant metal screws sticking out (at least 4-5 inches) of the wood, holding it in place. There were no coverings on the screws or signs asking patrons to be careful. I knew I had been hurt because there was a pain on my thigh where I had been punctured by this screw. I went back into the restaurant to let them know what just happened & they should cover or alert the public to be careful around this door & the screws. I got the strangest non-response. The woman making coffees just looked at me. She didn't say anything, but she looked right at me so I'm pretty sure she heard me. The woman who took my order was helping someone else with an order so she was distracted, but I'm fairly certain, she heard me talking about how dangerous these screws are as well. She also said nothing. It was so odd that no one acknowledged that a patron was injured on their property. If they were going to address how this was a safety issue, they did not share it with me. No one asked if I was ok. They just let me leave the restaurant. Honestly, I was kind of in shock by the whole experience. I went to my car to check my injury. I was wearing pants so I couldn't check in public. Sure enough, I was bleeding a bit & the area was red & swollen. I've attached a photo of my injury. I wish I had taken a photo of the door with these big screws at the time. I even drove back later this afternoon (same day) and the door was fixed! No more wood and dangerous screws sticking out. I'm mystified at how a business can treat their customers in such a dismissive & disrespectful manner. It's really unfortunate because I actually like the place. Their lack of engagement & customer service will probably not see me return. I would've been a loyal customer, but it would be very difficult for me to support a business which shows such a lack of concern in the well being of its customers. TL:DR - Superba is dope AF. Great coffee, great environment, and always ALWAYS super nice staff. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, ok, ok. I believe everyone has a super power. I don't mean like super strength or flight, but a lame super power; like whenever they drop a piece of toast, it always lands butter side down. Or when they check their watch it always has the number 11 in the time. Mine is, I make places super busy when I walk in. Any place that I visit will typically be empty, but as soon as I walk in, within the next 10 minutes it will become packed. This has happened countless times and I have actually had to prove it to my friends, and suffice it to say--now they plan on always being cramped up against other people. This power has extended online as well. There are a couple places that I have reviewed on yelp, and can no longer go back. A hairstylist, that raised his prices by $20 after he became too busy. A restaurant that only takes cash now and the wait has increased by 30 minutes. So when I say I'm hesitant to post this because it's going to become too popular, I mean it. I love Superba. I love going there and getting a cup of coffee and being able to sit in moderate quietness (don't forget it fills up when I go.) The space is basically open aired on two sides letting a lot of light in and a nice breeze to flow through. I love the cute tables and padded seats against the wall. I love the minimal but charming aesthetic of the interior is designed. I love the coffee. It ranges from cheap to bougie, depending on what you get. They have a wide selection of drinks that all taste great, and even a couple that will make you raise your eyebrow; "mushroom latte" anyone? I usually go with a simpler drip coffee or americano and am completely relaxed by the end of the cup. The food and pastries are also tasty and well prepared. I love the staff. Every time I have visited they have been incredibly friendly and helpful. When I spilled my coffee all over my table and the floor, they joked around with me and actually asked if I wanted another one on them. I declined, but that really left an impression on me, so...that's why I'm writing this review. I hope that Superba gets the recognition it deserves. Loved the Spanish Latte! They said it is made with condensed milk and I really enjoyed the flavors of this drink. Nice creamy sweetness to it without being too sweet. One of their specialty drinks is their mushroom latte. I was really interested in this but I wanted a dosage of caffeine in me. Although they said it has effects similar to caffeine as a non-caffeinated drink, I decided not to order it. Still interested in trying it one day, but I would stick with caffeine any day. hahaha. I really like their cups too - theyre super cute. Their house-made madeleines are delicious but they are very very small pieces so I think $5 is on the pricey side for this. It is a cute coffee shop! It's really clean and the interior design is nice. From many reviews of this place,I had a higher expectations on their food before I came here. The coffee is just ok. It is a little weak...seems like pretty light roasted. I got ice cappuccino with oat milk. I didn't taste much of the coffee...very strong oat milk taste and smell. I love oat milk but I still want to enjoy more coffee when it comes to "cappuccino" term. They do use a La Marzocco machine but the shots they pull are probably too short. Milk Alternative: almond milk, hemp milk & oat milk. Petite Breakfast sandwich tasted good. But my egg was pretty flat. I like the fresh green on the top. It gave a little tart & spicy aftertaste. Ricotta Toast was yummy and big! It was a star for me! It is not too sweet. The bread was very crispy around the edge. Madeleine was ok. It was soft and nice texture. It was quite busy. That's Friday lunchtime for you. I'd say that this is not a place where you would just pop in. The wait is long since everyone is has ordered online ahead of time. Even then, they had to wait a while. Overheard the lady give someone their order. She said that they were out of plates because they are washing them. The space is inviting -- well lit, high ceiling, good air circulation. Food is priced a bit lower than other places but still not cheap. They have many options for $10 or less. I'm big on breakfast burritos. Their was okay. After I ate it, I felt that it was on the heavy side. I think it's because they grill one side of the burrito with a cheese layer to make it crispy. If I wanted a heavy tasting burrito, Lucky Boys would've been a better choice. (Regretted not getting my favorite (Bad Ass Burritos) but I was trying something new today..) I will not order the breakfast burrito again but maybe the breakfast sandwich.. The umami salmon bowl was good. But there was not much color on the salmon. I like my salmon seared in a pan like I do in my own kitchen. Flavors were fine. They at least did not give a tiny piece of salmon. Overall, it is a nice, casual place to catch up with a friend. Parking lot was actually full which shocked us since usually I see no one there. Baked goods looked tempting but I resisted. Surperba really is superb. Also compared to other area breakfast establishments prices are very reasonable. The potato chorizo danish made me feel like I was back in Spain. Excellent flavor from the filling, but well balanced by the pastry surrounding it which is more like a savory cronut, flaky, tender, and just enough crispness on the outside. The avocado toast did not disappoint, possibly the best I've ever had anywhere. A unique combination of ingredients that work extremely well together in a perfectly sized portion. Absolutely disappointed in this place- neither my coffee, nor the French toast I came here for were any good, and it was very expensive! The coffee was nothing special. But what was atrocious was the French toast, which was super expensive, like $12, absolutely not worth it. It came in a nice pan/skillet, but the apples were not sweet, and had a weird rubbery texture and strange sour/bitter taste- horrible! The apples did not taste fresh at all. After realizing Superba had finally opened, we headed here on a Saturday morning. They do share a lot with Pitfire pizza so there was ample parking. Quickly noticed the baked goods display and knew I would be ordering a Kouign Amann. Decided on the grilled cheese and the made to order madeleines. The pressed grilled cheese was tasty as it featured 4 different cheeses. Would definitely come back just for it. Should've done more research as I was a bit disappointed with the madeleines as they were little bite sized and weren't crispy along the edges. Not horrible but definitely not the best I've had. Washed everything down with a Spanish latte which was pretty good but thought the one I had at % Arabica was better. Was too full to eat the Kouign Amann and hope it'll still be good tomorrow. Will definitely be back to try other things and am glad they finally opened up as we've been waiting a long time for them to open up in Pasadena. read more

I love coming here! The employees are always upbeat, the vibe is fun and cool. It's the kinda place you would happen upon in the artsy part of a big city. Actually reminds me of some trendy Italian cafe. The music is varied and interesting. Seems like I'm always pulling out my phone to Shazam songs. There is a steady stream of people coming for something to take with them. But there's also a group hanging out enjoying the sunny patio or lounging in the main area with its distressed concrete bank of seats with purple seat cushions. Cute European style round marble tables and metal/wooden chairs round out the rest of the space. But you are probably coming for coffee, bakery items and food I would assume? Best cappuccinos around. Everything is measured so the quality stays consistent. For food, you can choose from an open face cheesy egg toast (my favorite) to a tuna niçoise sandwich with much more in between. Try the cheddar chive biscuits, peanut butter rice crispy treat cookies or the kouign amann. Oh, I forgot about the mushroom asparagus danish. Can you tell I really like this place? A quick grab and go bite place with a basic lunch selection, select coffee brews, hearty breakfast sandwiches and dog friendly venue is my definition of wonderful. This Superba isn't like the one in Venice due to its limited menu selection but I'm still a fan. I recommend either their avocado toast or breakfast sandwich. The avocado toast served on a nicely toasted bread, easy on the salt with a slight squeeze of lemon gave it a nice edge and it was satiable. Somehow this cafe captures the feeling of California perfectly. Huge sliding glass walls open up to the outside and a sunshiney paint job gives it beach feels. I could see this as a really enjoyable place for coffee, brunch, or hanging out. Then the food and drink. It's only open 6-3 pm so it's ideal for a light meal or snack. The Golden Latte is absolutely delicious with turmeric and ginger infused almond milk. The Spanish latte sweetened with condensed milk was addictive. I recommend the ricotta toast loaded with ricotta and seasonal preserves (stone fruits, last I went), the cheesy egg toast that is very kid friendly, and the frittata with spinach and potato which may be one of the more hearty dishes they serve. The peach crostada had a delicious buttery crust. The other dishes I've tried were the ham and butter sandwich with ham, a triple cream cheese, a lot of dijon mustard, and a lot of butter, the Superba 0 - their version of an Oreo but the cookie wasn't very crisp, and the homemade blueberry pop tart. read more

This place is such a great addition to this side of town in Pasadena! I was on my way to a different coffee shop but saw this on my drive so I went in out of curiosity. The set-up is super cute with an indoor/outdoor area. I love all the open space, it really gives a nice home-y feel to the place. The decor is super cute and there's a little bookshelf with ground coffee/snacks/ceramics that separates the counter from the general seating area. I got the ham butter sandwich and a matcha latte and both were bomb. I didn't really understand the ham butter baguette sandwich because there was this whiteish goo that almost looked like a soft cheese too. Whatever it was, it was yums so no complaints here. It was approximately $14 total for the total order and I would say it's worth it. I honestly wanted to try everything on the menu and I would not be surprised if I started coming here at least once a week. Also they have a Spanish latte that I must try. I walked in here at 1:30pm because I had an event that prevented me from eating anything. So since I was in the lot I decided to pop in and take care the that growling in my stomach. Love love loved the latte I got here. Definitely got more "umph" than place like Starbucks and Coffee Bean. I think in the world of alcohol, people would say "it goes down smooth". Their madeleines are so fresh and good! They come out warm and scrumptious, just the perfect buttery comfort snack. I like their avocado toast and cheesy egg toast. The sourdough bread is tasty and just the right thickness. The scallions on the eggs make a big difference and add sort of an Asian twist. For me, the only thing they need on the eggs is a touch more salt to bring out the flavors. The place is clean and chill. Great atmosphere for hanging out. The staff is friendly and efficient. Superba just opened on Thursday, so we went to check it out opening weekend. Superba has a few locations including ones in Venice and El Segundo. This variant is located in Pasadena, nearby the Turner's gun store, Petco, Starbucks and a Pitfire Pizza. The atmosphere is casual, modern, airy, and open. There is an indoor or outdoor seating area with plenty of seating and a high ceiling. I was surprised that despite having it's own lot, and lots of seating, the place was nearly at capacity. You can see into the area where the baristas are preparing drinks, and cooks are preparing "snacks." Even though they claim to be a Snack and Coffee place, they actually have quite a menu with a large assortment of delicious sounding, freshly made drinks, sandwiches, toast items, pastries, etc.. as well as prepackaged goods and drinks. I picked up a bag of vegan chickpea puffs for my toddler, who is allergic to dairy, eggs, peanuts, and treenuts. I ordered the Ginger Tumeric Milkshake. I was very surprised by how yummy it was. I was afraid it may have a bit too much gingery or tumeric like spicy or that it would taste healthy. It tasted very indulgent and fresh, but not overly rich. I would highly recommend it. We also got a variety of pastries. The made to order madelines caught my eye. They are bite sized and cake-like in texture. They come out warm, and topped with powdered sugar. I enjoyed the rice krispy cookie, as well. It tasted like a chewy peanut butter cookie topped with rice krispies cereal. The Oreos tasted almost exactly like Oreos, with a little bit less cream filling. The Pop Tarts were probably a skip for me. Overall, the ambiance is nice. recently found out about Superba and was pleasantly surprised with this location! They have their own mini parking lot which is so helpful on the main drag! Patio seating into the parking lot and it totally worked. it didnt feel awkward at all. they added umbrellas and everything. my SIL and BIL got a sandwich and tator tots. i got the black sesame milkshake. Tooooo sweet for my taste buds and didnt really have black sesame flavors. i probably wouldnt get that again. it tasted more like a toasted chocolate milk shake.
