We were a group of just over 30 and Matt (owner) and Lisa (amazing waitress) did everything to accommodate us. It was refreshing to laugh with Matt as he repeatedly checked on us, shared stories and asked us if we needed anything! Drink orders were taken quickly and every request was met. It's expected as a big group to miss a meal or two but almost everything was perfect. Lisa ran around, despite having more tables than just us, and went above and beyond to meet all expectations. Food was great and portions were great to fill but not over stuffed. We were a little hesitant at first because of the reviews, but Surf 6 exceeded expectations. Two weekends ago me, my GF and Brother headed North for the weekend.. It was a very busy weekend, as most are in Old Orchard. After doing some bar hopping we came across Surf 6.. We expected there to be a significant wait, there was not. The hostess informed us there was a wait out on the patio but inside they could seat us.. She was very nice, sat us quickly and our waitress, Tasha, was right over. She was extremely nice, very nice on the eyes as well, extremely informative on the menu, the area, really personable all the way around. My Brother and I ordered the loster cakes, wow, these were off the charts delicious. Cooked to perfection, plenty of Lobster, almost a melt in your mouth ability, absolutely perfect. I ordered the fried clams, and these were cooked to a perfect golden brown, very tender, delicious, just wish there had been more of them. My Brother ordered the swordfish steak and he devoured his food.. I tried a bite as well, it was fantastic, made me second guess myself on the clams.. My GF had a burger, well done, it was cooked nicely, juicy and she really enjoyed. Tasha, was VERY efficient on a VERY busy night, she was quite impressive and I think Surf 6 may want to think about a raise for this young lady.. I am somewhat astounded at the rating for "frozen" food.. Considering you can throw a rock and hit the ocean, not to mention the fact I know a bit about seafood, I did not find anything frozen at all and it would most certainly call them out on it if I did.. Really was a very enjoyable experience. And, you can't beat the view of the Ocean. The only reason this did not get a 5 star rating, this really is a 4.5 rating, is the portion size was a little small for the price. And, the noise level in the dining area is quite loud. A bar fight broke out as my husband and I along with my two children waited for appetizers. Yelling, profanity, pushing. The meals were mediocre at best. I asked if instead of fries to please have salad: response "no substitutions." I asked for the special that was advertised: "it's not ready yet." Kids had the basics: fries/chicken. We came here because it appeard to be a busy (thought that meant popular) place with outdoor seating near the water. We had a few drinks at the bar which I thought was a bit pricey before getting our table. The waitress seemed incredibly busy and barely as at our table and spent the time to say hi and take our order. We were not offered water or bread with our meal. In fact we were thrown our meal and didn't even get the chance to order additional drinks. The lazy man lobster was extremely dry and not worth the price. The broiled scallops: one would taste fine, the next would taste terrible. Some were sandy, which was just awful. They don't offer substitutions so the french fries that came with the scallops went to waste and I had to pay extra for a gally salad which was about a cup of vegetables (not worth the extra money). Also, $3 for a club soda with no refills. That was what did it for me. Most people were drinking cocktails so the least a restaurant can do is offer free refills for those who do not drink. Ducked into this restaurant bar to wait out a rain storm. Glad we did! Spicy Shrimp appetizer and fish tacos were great. Had a few drinks...waitress was patient and very efficient. We thought this was going to be a good restaurant, food was awful, two out of the six people in our group got compt for their food because it was so bad. The haddock was not as described on the menu, it says baked in butter with bread crumbs, only no butter and bread crumbs came so I sent it back and when my food came back in the same plate, half my fries got thrown out and they threw dry bread crumbs on top of my haddock. My sister had prime rib at 26$$$$ and asked for it to be cooked medium and it was well done, but decided to eat it anyway as not to complain, if only she had a chainsaw to cut it!!! This was the worst restaurant! I ordered a mixed green salad for $13 and it was the size of a side salad. I actually laughed when they put it down in front of me. My nephew ordered the lobster linguini for $25, and it was horrible. He couldn't eat it. My mother ordered a side salad which looked something like a garnish. The service here is atrocious. We sat for down for about 10 minutes with zero acknowledgement from any staff members. I had no idea who my waitress was, no greetings, or any offering for water. I continued to wait to see if anyone will come by, not a single person stop by the table. Multiple waitresses walked by, and not a single person bother to stop by to ask if we were all set. Poor service. This is a great area for family and tourists. This type of service is not welcoming whatsoever. Will never come by to dine at this place ever again. I had the salmon, mashed potatoes and vegetables. The carrots and broccoli were raw. The mashed potatoes had good flavor but were an unappetizing grey. The salmon was pretty good. My wife and I were looking for a classic lobster roll while vacationing in the Portland area, and came to Surf 6 for dinner before visiting friends in OOB. The lobster rolls were fantastic, rolls grilled just right, lobster fresh, firm and with not too much mayo, great fries. My side of cole slaw was really good too! (And I have had a lot of bad slaw this summer!). Nice atmosphere on the deck overlooking the beach, and the waitress was attentive without being hovering, and very friendly. read more

Awful. I actaully finally opened a Yelp account just so I could convey how terrible this place was.I will note that we had a lovely server who was very nice, despite us having to send back two meals because they were uneatable. That was the only tolerable part about this place. The fun started when we arrived around 6pm to be greeted by a miserable bouncer who was taking his job way to seriously. It still confuses me why we had to be carded when there scores of children running around. They couldn't have been 21. So, his nastyness already had us off to a bad start. We ordered and they brought us out some salads. My friends had a bug in it. Not just flying on top, but at the bottom of the bowl buried under the lettuce. It clearly had come with the salad from the kitchen. Gross! We chose not to make a stink about it. Good thing since we had to send back TWO orders of the baked scallops. UGH the scallops. They came out in in a half inch of grey water. Now, I have had baked scallops dozens of time and never had ANY liquid in them especially not grey liquid. It looked like the water you would wash your steamers off in. I couldn't even look at the plate that's how disgusting it was. The one scallop I did try was not the right texture and had no flavor. These disshes we did send back. You would think the manager might want to come over, but nope. I dont think customer service is on their minds at all. So, I would avoid this place at all costs. if you must go, get your food fried. That might at least mask the low quality seafood. Unimpressed. I spent a few hours at OOB with 4 other people and read reviews prior to choosing a lunch spot. I am a big fan of 'on the beach' dining so I figured this was the place to go. The food was awful. We ordered all the lunch options which were fried shrimp, clams, scallops, and haddock. They all came with coleslaw which wasn't too bad and French fries. We also ordered the calamari appetizer. Aside from the haddock and clams, everything seemed to be frozen not fresh. They did have lobster tanks inside which lead me to believe everything would be nice and fresh. Portions were small and nothing had flavor except for the salt and pepper packets. The scallops and shrimp were the size of dimes. None of us ordered drinks but they looked tasty and were upwards of $10, not too unusual for tourist spots. We ordered iced tea but they were small and offered no free refills, so we switched to water after the first glass. There was also a band playing, odd variety of music and way too loud you couldn't hear the person sitting next to you. Service was decent and the atmosphere is definately what you pay for. So for next time ill order a lobster roll or better yet..just grab food on the pier and sit on the beach. read more

Even the Rum Runner tasted like dirty feet. Manager couldn't be found when asked for. Believe me, this may have been the worst meal I have ever been served at a restaurant. Went here with friends and all of the entrees we ordered were absolutely awful!!! The prime rib was way overcooked and sent back. The scallops tasted like eating cardboard with absolutely no flavor at all and the baked haddock was just as bad! We visited this place on Monday 7-13-2015. We received a gift card from a friend of mine. She loved this place, so we were excited to visit and enjoy a good meal. Well, we got there around 630, and were seated quickly, The place in right on the beach, but nothing fancy and we sat inside. Outside on the deck was a great view of the ocean, but we were disappointed that they don't have regular tables, but picnic tables. tacky! Our waitress wasn't very friendly, but we tried to just enjoy our night. We ordered our drinks and they came quickly, but our waitress was just nasty and seemed bothered by us. We ordered dinners and no appetizers. Three of us ordered seafood dinners, and one order a BBQ chicken dinner. My husband ordered a clam plate and he enjoyed. My friend and I ordered a haddock plate and scallop plate dinner. They were both gross. Tasted funny and not worth the money. The other person in our party ordered the chicken dinner. He enjoyed it, but 18 bucks for a piece of grilled chicken? absurd! Our waitress came by once to check in, and we noticed on the floor a huge piece of lobster that was left from the other patrons. My friend almost stepped on it when getting up to use the restroom. We just were grossed out from the first time we sat down, to leaving after our meal was done. We should have just left, but we had a gift card that needed to be used. If you want to have crappy service and not so fresh food, come visit this place. I wouldn't believe that you can post a review without a star rating, and, since zero stars or negative stars are not available, I had to go with one star. My wife and I went there on a Wednesday night around 7:30 with two of our grandchildren (ages 10 and 7). It was the worst meal I have ever been served in almost 70 years of life. My steak tips were dry and tough...my wife's scallops were small and chock full of no flavor. One grandchild had fried clams which were tiny and mostly batter. Our other grandchild had spaghetti with marinara sauce. She did finish it and said it was okay. Everyone had French fries, as they were the only thing offered. I believe they were previously frozen as the centers were pure mush. I believe that management does not really care as these same opinions have been previously reported and it appears have been fully ignored. I imagine they are just as happy to have "one-time, no-return customers. After all of this, they bring you a bill which in our case was over $115. There have been a few good reviews but many of them are somewhat dated. All in all, I would hope to help others to learn from our misfortune. STEER CLEAR. On top of it all, they have the audacity to charge you $5.00 to park your car! read more

Drove up to Old Orchard Beach because I heard it had a pier. Wifey and were not disappointed. Old orchard is a fun place to go to. It has a nice beach, plenty stores, plenty of places, to eat, arcade, and amusement park. You actually feel like a kid again. Wifey and I wanted lunch. so, we asked the parking lot attendant. She recommended 2 places to us. we chose Surf 6 because they had a large outdoor patio. the menu is nothing fancy. Surf 6 is good lunch time spot. I got the chicken sandwich and wifey got the cheeseburger. The chicken sandwich is really good. It feels like something you would eat off your grill. And you know how much I love chicken. the cheeseburger did the job too. Service was really fast. The food came out in less than 10 minutes. the server was nice as well. The price was right and the setting was right. If you want to eat outdoors and do some people watching go to Surf 6. read more

We have looking at this place for a couple years every time we go on the beach. We should have kept waiting. The prices for drinks and food very high for the quality you get. I got the haddock and it came with packets of Kens tarter sauce which I thought was a little tacky. The haddock was good. My wife got the steak tips and she thought they were fair and only ate a couple of them. The rest we thee away the next day. Those were I believe 22.00. The haddock was 19.00. The kids got hotdogs and chicken tenders and they were decent. The Bloddy Mary was 10.00 and was not good. It seemed watered down with really no taste. My empty glass sat on the table for 20 minutes and I wasn't asked if I wanted another one. I have had others at different restaurants for far less money which were very good. The waitress was pretty good but seemed to be in the rush mode where every decision had to be made immediately. It was not that busy at 8:00pm on Wednesday. Overall, We won't be back. WHAT A DISASTER NIGHT!!! Our last night in OOB 6/30/17 , thought we (me, my husband, my daughter and her boyfriend) wanted to have great lobster and prime rib and thought we would spend it here. As we ordered our first drink and chilling out thinking about what we were going to order, 4 drunk obnoxious men walked in and sat right across from us at the bar. First of all they should not have been served any alcohol, they were clearly shattered. They were talking profanity, the C word, dropping F bombs and belching extremely loud. I couldn't take it any more, so we decided to leave and take our business else where... then i looked at one of the drunk men as he belched so loud, i asked him if he realized he is in a public family restaurant? He then proceeded to call me harsh terrible words. My daughters boyfriend told him to keep his mouth shut and dont speak about me that way, the drunk guy looked at my daughters boyfriend and told him to take it outside and fight! I cant believe they were aloud to act this way in public with children in the restaurant. Me and my daughter got my husband and her boyfriend out of the restaurant right before the drunk guy's wife tackled him to the ground because he was trying to come after us. I have NEVER EVER experienced this in a restaurant. The wait staff should never have served them, and allowed them to speak such profanity in a restaurant. They should have been told to leave. This restaurant could have made alot of money from us...2 lobster dinners, prime rib, but those drunk men ruined that!!! I will never go back to this restaurant. read more
