This review is mainly for the food and drink quality. The mojito taste like dishwater. No flavor. The beach fries were decent but very soggy. The Caesar salad was not good-something that was put together with minimal effort. Barely any croutons, dressing or cheese. Some lettuce pieces were dirty. We both got the salmon. It was dry, burnt and had no flavor to it. There were no seasonings on the asparagus and was still hard; not cooked. Overall the food was worse than what I could cook at home. Going out to eat at a restaurant shouldn't be like that. read more

Will not go back... I ordered their broiled haddock - it was dried out and seemed old. Wife ordered scallops - they were sandy, small, and probably the worst ones either of us had this year. Went here for lunch and we were able to sit right down. My mom and I got a clam chowder each- possibly the best I've had- not too thin but not too thick either. I got the fish tacos- delicious although a little heavy on the slaw but a decent portion of deliciously spiced haddock. My mom got the whole belly clams, I snuck a few and they were they good- not greasy and the clam to breading ratio was ideal. I just wish we'd had time to go back for dinner. read more

So disappointed. We waited 40 min for a table which is understandable considering we were there for the 4th of July weekend. But then once we sat down it took a while for our waitress to come by to even get our drink order. We were a big group of 15. The table ordered some apps. And I got soup which came 15 or so min after everyone else's apps came. We ended up waiting 2 and 1/2 hours for food. Which is INSANE. Because once seated it was already 930-10 and the place was dying down. When the food finally came I was more than disappointed. The rum bucket was pretty good however, I ordered the lobster pasta and there was NO flavor. The lobster was the only thing I ate. The pasta was way over cooked and the sauce was not good at all. We also got the rum bucket and it was good. My dad got the lobster which was good but you can't go wrong with lobster unless you over cook it so I guess they know how to make that. If you come here you won't be disappointed with the broiled lobster. Other than that the Cesar salads that my friend and her mom ordered had almost no dressing and took forever to come over with the side dressing. My boyfriend asked for a warmed up lobster roll and when he got it the lobster was cold. The bun wasn't toasted or warmed up. And it didn't come with warm butter. Overall way too slow of service and food was awful. The only thing this place has going for them is being on the beach. read more

Should have listened to the previous reviews and not come here on our last night on vaca at oob but didn't. Spend a lot of money for very little. The blackened fish tacos were the highlight and were actually really good but besides that, everything else was below average to poor. Wife got the fried scallops and they were meh. Biggest issue was the Cole slow was awful and the garlic mash was literally filled with chunks of garlic. Lobster stew was tasty but it was half filled and it was $12! Stay away. Location is great, right near the pier and right on the beach. There was ample seating outside, inside, and bar seating. The decor was great. We had lunch here on a Sat afternoon, was not super busy, but was still well staffed. Staff was very friendly. Now the food was okay...$13 for lunch special and it was very small portion, but the chowder was very good. With that being said service was great and we didn't wait very long to get our food. read more

Atmosphere does not fit the price you are paying for the food, but the food is worth it. Family oriented, plunty of arcade game to entertain the kids. They Have live entertainment. Beautiful Patio, nice staff, cocktails served in soda glasses. Over priced for nothing ! The surf 6 was my favorite drink. I should have taken a picture of my food before I had it taken back. I ordered the haddock basket. Could not believe what was brought to me ! It looked like nasty southern catfish bites. Extremely thin pieces of dried out haddock. Served in a child's portion no joke . 5 tiny pieces , an 20 French fries , a little cup of slaw. This usta be one of our all time favorite spots ! My family told me it's horrible good now. I had to see for myself. Guess we need to find a new place for our larger family functions. Realy number out ! One salvation The Lobster Claw & pound is not on the water. First and last time we will eat there. We had to wait for a table. While sitting at the bar the bartender acted like he was doing us a favor for the over priced drinks. The drinks were different sizes at the bar than the table but cost the same. The lobster roll was frozen as well as my daughters BBQ chicken. My son ordered calamari that was greasy and bland. I would suggest changing the oil once in a while, but a restaurant should not be serving ken's premade tartar and cocktail sauce, to pair with a $24 plate if clams. How lazy is your kitchen staff? I have been coming to surf 6 for many years - it is your average burger and seafood place on OOB. The place has a great location with a stunning view of the beach / ocean. I have been to my uncle's 50th here and they did a great job with food and service. The food is good overall - nothing mind blowing, but exactly what you would expect to find in an oceanfront bar/grill. I love the burgers and the haddock here - but would pass on the prime rib. If you have your expectations set right you will have a great time and meal here. read more

Really disappointed right now. I've been coming to Old Orchard Beach with my daughters for 15 years and Surf 6 has always been a favorite. Gray atmosphere and pretty good food. I'm guessing there's new ownership. The menu is skinnyed down and the food is, frankly, awful. Everything we had was clearly frozen and dumped into a fryer. Limp clam strips, lame haddock and canned clam chowder. I'm giving two stars only because our waitress was a doll and the band on the deck was good. Everything we ordered was in no way "fresh seafood". You can tell it was all frozen food tossed in a fryer. It was gross. The tank with the lobsters had the same size lobsters you get at my local grocery store in the middle of Massachusetts, for a quarter of the price. I assumed a restaurant, claiming to have the freshness seafood food, right on the beach in Maine, would have better seafood then a grocery store in Worcester, MA. I was very disappointed to have this as my first stop on our vacation. The building and decorating was fun and the back deck over looking the beach and.ocean was very nice, but the bathrooms where out dated and thinks.like the handle to the sink or the lock on the stall where broken. I get the weather is not so nice to keep thing pristine, but a little efforts in keeping up with things would go a long way. I mean with the prices they charge for a clam strip dinner or a appetizer of lobster cakes, you think there would be enough money to fix up the building, because they sure as he'll are not using the money to buy the freshness seafood. Not interested in going back. Oh and the service is absent. She took our order, we waited for ever for our food, and then did not see her until way after we where done eating.and.She gave us the check. She never came back, we left the money and left. For many years, the Surf 6 was our first stop on our first night in Old Orchard. The food was always dependable and the ambiance of overlooking the beach for our first vacation meal was a great way to kickstart our break. After a four-year absence from Old Orchard, my mother and I returned this week for a dinner that we anticipated would be consistent with our past experiences. Sadly, we were wrong. We don't know whether the restaurant is under new management or has a new "chef," but this dining experience was, without a doubt, one of the worst we have ever had anywhere. To begin with, the special blue martini came to the table opaque and frothy; it obviously had been treated with food coloring. it stained my mother's teeth (and our fingers when we ran them around the glass). It even tasted like food coloring! Troublingly, when the waitress stopped by and we explained this to her, she laughed but returned it to the bar, queried the bartender, and returned to us, saying it was curacao and that "the bartender wouldn't lie." (It was definitely blue food coloring.) Next, the linguine with lobster entree, which my mother ordered because they are no longer offering their once-famous lazyman lobster, promised "knuckle and claw meat" on top of linguine with lobster sauce. When the entree arrived, it was overcooked pasta clumped together with a flavorless pink sauce... and then the search for lobster began. My mother did find one tiny piece of the tip of a lobster claw about 1 mm in size in the middle of the dish. We returned it and the waitress came back with another overcooked plate of pasta with even more watery sauce and three little pieces of lobster in it. My mother also ordered a caesar salad, which came without dressing. Oddly, the waitress was unapologetic about the drink, the salad, and the entree. Meanwhile, I ordered the special Mount Gay rum punch (watery but not too bad), a decent side salad, and the prime rib, which was both salty and tough. Total bill for 2 salads, 2 entrees, and 2 drinks: $107.00 Save your money and pick up a piece of Pier Pizza instead! This was a really disappointing experience, and after many years as patrons, we will not be back. read more

Great location and atmosphere if you get a seat on the deck with an ocean view. Beyond that, everything is pretty average. Pricing is about right for an oceanfront restaurant, but considering the quality of the food it's a little disappointing. French fries are clearly frozen, and for vegetarians there are very limited options. The kids menu is also disappointing, as they offer no healthy options. Also, service was a little slow. If you keep your expectations to just enjoying a nice view of the ocean with average food, you won't be disappointed. read more

Came just for appetizers and drinks at about 2pm. Immediately were sat on the deck overlooking the ocean, which was nice. We had calamari and a New England clam chowder. The calamari was small and pricey, but good. The chowder was huge, a little pricey, but very good. It could have been hotter, but the flavor made up for it. Our server was very nice and attentive. Drinks were ice cold! Liked it just fine for a drink/snack spot. read more

We were a group of just over 30 and Matt (owner) and Lisa (amazing waitress) did everything to accommodate us. It was refreshing to laugh with Matt as he repeatedly checked on us, shared stories and asked us if we needed anything! Drink orders were taken quickly and every request was met. It's expected as a big group to miss a meal or two but almost everything was perfect. Lisa ran around, despite having more tables than just us, and went above and beyond to meet all expectations. Food was great and portions were great to fill but not over stuffed. We were a little hesitant at first because of the reviews, but Surf 6 exceeded expectations. Lisa has an amazing personality and made us feel like we were at home. Will be back again, hopefully requesting Lisa again!We were a very happy crew! read more

Great location, and easy to find. The restaurant has fun decor, complete with a bar made from a boat. I ordered the fried scallops & fries which were delicious and cooked perfectly. Also ordered a rum runner which was outstanding. My only complaint about the food was the puddle of grease that pooled in the middle of my plate, but it was a fried dinner after all, and certainly not a salad. read more

A disaster. Seated next to the windows although a minimum of 6 bugs during dinner crawling on the window sill. A bar fight broke out as my husband and I along with my two children waited for appetizers. Yelling, profanity, pushing. The meals were mediocre at best. I asked if instead of fries to please have salad: response "no substitutions." I asked for the special that was advertised: "it's not ready yet." Kids had the basics: fries/chicken. My husband had the prime rib, salty. My broiled scallops were okay; nothing special. My suggestion: don't go. read more
