Came in to have a drink and asked for a Tito's cosmo. I received a drink so clear and that was pretty much pure vodka. Asked the bartender to shake it and add triple sec and she proceeded to tell me that it was shaken and it had triple sec in it. She brought my drink back to me and said she added water and triple sec and that the drink was indeed all vodka because" that's what a cosmo is " um, no it is not. Learn how to make a proper drink. The food is very average. It's too bad because we really need a decent place to go around here. Atmosphere is pretty decent but don't waste your time or money. read more

I came here with my cousins and there are a lot of us! We had a table of 13 and our waitress was incredible. She kept all of our drinks full and was extremely attentive. I only had a few apps and some drinks but my family was talking about how great the mains were as well. My new habit seems to be 2nd reviews for places I frequent. This was a big birthday for one of our group. The occasion noted on our reservation. While the food was very good/delicious as always but not one employee noted the occasion. Even wishing a happy birthday would have been nice. Why inquire about reason for dining out, setting up expectations, then nothing. We expected our guest would have been made to feel special. Our second visit and it is still very good. We had lobster fries as an appetizer. Yes, fries with a sauce and chunks of lobster. Do not go expecting a ton of fries, but they were good and shareable for two. My wife got shrimp tacos that she liked, and I got a hot buttered lobster roll, which was tasty and one of the best I've had. With a couple of beers, pre-tip bill was about $100. We went in a Friday night at 5, and I need to here reiterate that the parking situation is nightmarish. There were zero parking spaces when we got there, and you will have to drive around and around and around and pray that someone leaves. This is unacceptable. The fools that own this property have enlivened the area by adding popular new restaurants. What they've failed to do is build a garage to accommodate that growth. I wasn't the only PO'd diner that night. Get there early. read more

Maybe we went on an off night but our experience was pretty disappointing. Our server was not busy, in fact we could see him most of the time talking to the other servers (it was early in the evening). Yet, we had to try and catch him to get refills on our waters and drinks at least two times. At the end of dinner we overhead another server offering the specials, and none were told to us. The food was pretty good. My miso soup was lukewarm. My sushi was pretty good! And the crab Rangoon dip was delicious. My husband had the clam chowder which was great. He had a cheeseburger that he said was overcooked..the server also never asked him how he wanted it cooked. But I guess you can't expect a great burger at a seafood restaurant. Went there to celebrate my birthday hosted by my daughter. It was a very large place which had many gatherings. Was seated right away and our waitress was very attentive and engaging. The food arrived promptly. Food was tasty and not too rich. The waitress brought a slice of birthday cake with a candle and participated in singing 'Happy Birthday'. Got the surf and turf so made quite a dent on the pocket book but wanted to try "Boston Lobster". I made the mistake of doing take out and should have just eaten there. Filet was more medium than rare. The lobster was nicely presented so it was easy to eat, but the claw, though pulled out of its shell had an unexpected piece of cartilage in the meat so my teeth/mouth got an unpleasant surprise. Mashed potatoes were super salty. Asparagus was okay. The restaurant entrance was crazy. Waited longer than expected to even get to the counter to say I wanted to just pick up my food. I wanted to like this place but not sure I would have gotten a better experience if I ate there since the energy/ambiance was a bit nutty/stressed. Maybe not enough staff or perhaps division of staff duties is not very efficient or restaurant flow is off? Not sure. read more

A few weekends ago me and my husband decided to visit surf restaurant in Woburn. We sat at the bar and had two wonderful bartenders wait on us. Danielle and Andrew were wonderful and were very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. They made our experience so enticing and rememberable. The restaurant itself seemed fancier than I thought and I was severely underdressed but it was fine! We ordered the calamari and scallops to share, and I ordered the fried tomato salad and my bf got the tuna poke and salmon nigiri. This ended up being a lot of food but our bill was way cheaper than we were expecting. The food honestly was pretty good but not outstanding. Things were generally on the saltier side. The thing that makes our review a 5 is our server. He was so funny and kind but unfortunately we didn't catch his name. My bf and I ordered Shirley temples and our server came back with the best drinks we've had. He said he asked the bartender to add extra cherries and to make it with half sprite half ginger ale (because that's how his daughter likes it!) and it made our dinner extra special. The sushi roll was my favorite (red dragon), very good rice to fish ratio. The calamari was good and they give you a huge portion but I thought it was weird that they put it on top of the marinara instead of having it on the side. The calamari that was touching the marinara got soggy. I was not a fan of the steamed bun, the bacon was hard and dry, but the steamed bun itself was nice and fluffy. If I were to go again, getting other things from the menu since it was pretty flushed out and I think there's something on there I would like more. read more

This place was AWESOME!!!! Sat at the bar, parked at market basket because the lot was packed, but who cares let's get some steps. Servers were great at the bar, got two sushi rolls and some bao buns in intervals throughout the night. Bao buns the server kindly informed us that you wrap the lettuce around your bun - which who would've thunk, so thank you because it was delightful. Rolls were great, Paloma was good, and atmosphere was casual, fun with a more upscale feel. Had dinner at Surf last night as a party of 5. Our server was excellent. We split the clam chowder and it was not good. Very gritty and much too salty. That was clearly a miss. Would not get again. The cold lobster roll was good. Cole slaw was not. It was very mushy and too creamy. Shrimp tacos were very good. 2 sushi appetizers were excellent. Could not eat my seafood dish, as it was much too salty. Had to send it back. We've eaten here many times, but this was by far the worst experience we have had here, and for that we will not rush back. read more

Ordered takeout from Surf yesterday and enjoyed my meal. The Surf Ramen was excellent, and the calamari did the job. In the future I'd want to eat at the physical restaurant since the atmosphere seemed pretty good and the host staff was nice when I picked up the food. Me and my son were in town for four days and ate dinner here twice. This place is amazing! The lobster fries and fish and chips were great and they were not even the best thing we ate there. The crab cake was so damn good that we ate 3 orders of them, they should put two on a plate and make it a dinner. My teenage son who does not like crab due to a bad experience years ago has now been converted into a crab cake fan. My absolute favorite thing was the traditional lobster roll. Do your tastebuds a favor and get one! Both our waiters were tremendous, they offered suggestions and took great care of us both times we were there. First off want to emphasize ambiance, decor, and the area are beyond! The setting is fantastic for gathering with friends and is very family friendly. The bar is creatively integrated with the rest of the eating area, and TVs are cleverly mounted there so they won't be a distraction. However the food was just OK. We ordered the Crispy Dragon shrimp, several Fisherman Platters, Tuscan Shrimp pasta, and Tataki Maki Roll. Although it wasn't particularly noteworthy, it was still enjoyable. The service overall was not the best, had a hard time tracking down our waiter several times, but to be fair the place was quite busy. New Woburn location for Surf - located in the Market Basket plaza so plenty of parking available. The inside is huge, and plenty of bar seating as well. It was relatively busy for a Wednesday night, and since the food was delicious I can see why! Our server Sophia was attentive and really nice - it was my friends and my first time here so we wanted to take our time and she was perfectly amendable to that which was awesome. We didn't have any entrees but the variety of appetizers we tried were all really flavorful. I probably mis-ordered on the warm buttered lobster roll as I do not like sushi, but the lobster itself was delicious! read more

If you're looking for a lively ambiance and decent food, Surf is definitely a restaurant to check out. I'm giving Surf 3 stars not because I didn't enjoy myself here but because I wasn't necessarily blown away. For food, we did the Crispy Dragon Shrimp which was yummy. For my entree, I ordered the Tuscan Shrimp pasta which had way too many olives for my liking so I decided to swap it out for the Tataki Maki roll, which I enjoyed. We also ordered the Fisherman's Platter which was quite large (which is great) and had enough food for two people to share.
