Normally this place is spot on but last time I had it everything was loaded with salt. I don't usually write bad reviews but when I called and told them everything was salty, they just told me they don't use salt on their food or in their sauces. So all four of us eating it must not no what salt taste like. Then they asked was there anything thing else they could do for me. At this point no, but I will not be going back. I don't mind paying high prices if the food is good but this was a big let down today. I wish them the best but I'll spend my money somewhere else. read more

I am so happy to have this restaurant in my neighborhood. The food and service is Excellent. The hennesey wings, fried green tomatoes, turkey greens are very good. But my absolute favorite thing is the deep fried lobster tail. Until Surfs up I would never have thought to ruin a lobster tail by deep frying it. But shame on me for my limited thinking. The deep fried lobster tail is the BEST THING EVER!!!! Now I wont order anything else. And the breading used by surfs up makes it even better. read more

Just bought the 3 Chicken Wings and Shrimp Combo and the Bomb Sandwich! Excellent! Excellent!! Excellent!! The portions were more than enough, the seasoning was great and the customer service was perfect. I will definitely be coming back, granted I'll have to do more workouts on my treadmill, but for a treat like this, it's worth it!! What can I say, I couldn't put that sandwich down! This place is for people that don't know ANYTHING about food and will ANYTHING. Disappointed...Wings were SUPER small & low quality. The catfish was a joke with mostly breading and no meat. This is low quality at it's best so I won't ever go back. read more

Got the snow crab dinner. Crab was tender and potatoes and corn were very good too. Husband got the grilled "the bomb" with fries. The fries seemed like hand cut fresh fries, I didnt ask if they were but I ate almost all his fries too they were so good. He liked the sandwich so much I didnt get to try it. Price was good. Staff was friendly. The guy who cooked my crab came out to talk to us and made sure everything was good. Atmosphere could be better but it's not bad. Order at counter and find a table. I've ordered a couple of times from Surf's Up and have been very pleased. So far I've had the catfish, perch and whiting which were all very good. The fried shrimp was fine, but I would have preferred a bit more seasoning. They also have great sides, including turkey greens, fried okra, and fried green tomatoes. I'm really glad to have this new addition to the Aurora area and I'll definitely be back! read more

This place is definitely worth the wait! We tried "The bomb" and the shrimp and they were both awesome! The shrimp is just lightly breaded and a good size. The bomb sandwich was great too, loved the sauce. The only negative part of the experience was the wait, it took 20 minutes longer than the time we were told to come pick up our order, which was 30 minutes after we ordered, so a total of 50 minutes of waiting. That being said, it was well worth the wait and I'm excited to try some of the other items on their menu! read more

I will probably not go again... ordered chicken tenders for my son 8oz worth and he got 5-6 bite size fried little pieces of chicken that were as big as chicken nuggets.... Also ordered chicken wings that were literally bite size. The grilled catfish and shrimp was good. I was just disappointed for how much things cost and the portion sizes were not great. The kids were still hungry. Always up for trying different places. Just would not go to this one for a second time. Best of luck. read more

I ordered a tray of wings which were cooked perfectly, the fries looked beat up and old. The catfish was not 3 fillets, it was 1 1\2 or 3 pieces it had been cut , was fishy tasting and overpriced. Will visit for the wings that's about it. read more

I'm so happy this restaurant settled in Aurora. I love their food, the sauces and the seafood offerings are everything! I've ordered repeatedly and it's always hot and fresh. We have been wanting to try this place since they opened we finally did and it was a disaster! We ordered online and requested delivery. We then got a call from door dash saying they were at Surfs up but they had no record of our order. I had already been charged and received the confirmation email. Understanding that sometimes things go wrong I took a drive up to the restaurant. I would have expected a simple sorry and we will get that for you right away but instead I was cursed at yelled at and threatened by the cook. Only to find out my order was sitting on a table getting cold. I will never come back and will tell everyone I know not to come back. If you want to risk it and try it do it now because they will be going out of business soon I PROMISE! Customer service goes a long way but not today! read more

Surf's Up was a tasty experience! All the food is made fresh to order. Everything was seasoned to perfection. I came with a party of 4 and it took less than 15 minutes for all of our food to be done. All of the seafood is fresh and sweet ! The crab legs were nice and meaty. Both the shrimp and catfish was seasoned and fried to perfection ! This was my first time trying fried lobster and that was a great twist to a classic dish. I will definitely be back !!!! read more

Overall experience is pretty middle of the road, but a solid 3.5/5 . Was looking for black-owned businesses & seafood in the area to try and will probably be going here from now on instead dealing with the Harold's ppl. Ordered grilled & fried catfish & shrimp, chicken wings, & green tomatoes. The fried catfish and chicken were pretty solid. The grilled catfish and shrimp were a lil too salty but was seasoned nicely as far as flavor. The fried shrimp was my favorite, they were jumbo size so loved I didn't feel it was skimming. Only a couple negatives for me, the address posted landed me and another lady in the middle of a random development, and arriving later than expected lead to my food being a bit soggy, so hope they fix that. The door was also locked for some reason which left me & a couple people just standing outside staring at the cashier for a bit till a customer eventually let us in on his way out. Would also have been nice to get a bag, with such a big order I had to carry the greasy container to my car propped against my shirt. I'm hoping they can improve the minor stuff to be a real hit in the area. They seemed pretty nice and I look forward to trying the rest of the menu. Would refer others to try them. read more

I purchased 25 wings, .25 lb of shrimp, and fried okra. I arrived within the timeframe that I was told and still had to wait an additional 10 minutes for my order. To my surprise when I got home the food was darker than usual. Either they used old grease to cook the food in, or the food was near burnt. I called and spoke with the manager "Tristian" whom continuously patronized me by calling me "sweetheart" even after having correcting him on the first multiple times. Tristian eventually promised to replace my meal. I called in for the meal replacement on Christmas Eve and was advised they'd "run out of wings". Although I didn't believe him, I accepted this and called back as directed by Tristian Wednesday of the following week. When trying to place my order the manager on duty, although knowing of the situation, stated she'd need to speak with Tristian. I received a call back stating they'd replace 20 wings. I have supported this establishment since they've opened. Disappointment with the lackluster customer service is an understatement. I tried to support this black owned business, but this has pushed me to take my business elsewhere. I'll spend my money with Popeye's and Baba's before I return here. Hope you catch them on a good day when the food is prepared in fresh grease and not overcooked. read more

Unimpressed. Came in around 11:15 am for lunch. Girl taking my order seemed uninterested in any of my questions about menu. Wanted shrimp and although shrimp is on the menu I could not get a shrimp dinner. I settled for the perch dinner and was informed after giving my $13 it would be at least 10 min wait. While standing there I notice all the food is NOT fresh its froze as I could see them moving it from counter to freezer. Food looked good as I saw them bag it for me. Made it to work 2 mins later and food was definitely hot when i started to eat. The fish was black inside in spots likely from being cooked while frozen. Fish was also very very very salty and I had to take breading off so it would be edible. Fires were good and I saw cook salt them but while eating I couldn't taste salt likely from the fish being excessively salty. Sauce was very spicy and was not offered any sauce options. $13 for a fish dinner with fries coleslaw and a roll was not worth the trip with or without the attitude of the counter person.
