This store is a great place to look for tile! I give this place 5 stars for the variety of tile they carry. What I can't get over is the customer service. I give that 1 star. I first walked into the store, noticing that a sign on the front door that highly recommends making an appointment. I walked in and no one acknowledged me standing there even though there was someone at the front desk. Then I made an appointment. Still didn't feel welcomed at all. Everyone that worked there just stood or sat around doing absolutely nothing. I went back to the store at my appointment time. I was early and my appointment time had passed. The person I was to see was on the phone the entire time while I stood there waiting and he was visibly upset. I mean really upset! He then shared why he was upset. I didn't care, it wasn't my business. I asked if I should reschedule and he became sarcastic. No apology that he was late but implied I was wrong with my watch. He then spent time with me. I was fine. Then I came back to the store a few hours later and I guess I insulted him because I didn't go with his suggestions. All I said was after bringing it home and looking at it, the color wouldn't work for me. Then later the guy was on the phone screaming very loudly. All the customers just were in disbelief. Afterwards, you can hear a pin drop in the store. I won't repeat what this guy said outloud. That was so unprofessional. Maybe he was just having a bad day but I don't think so. I was told that everyone at the store works together. They definitely don't. Each person has their own section and they don't move from it unless they are helping their own customer. It is totally dysfunctional how this store operates. I felt I could not do business with this store. In case something went wrong, they may not take care of me. read more

Charges for tile they break!!! Several tile came broken either by supplier or during delivery, which i had to pay $75 for the delivery and was not allowed to pickup myself. Receipt says order 10-20% extra as natural tile breaks easy. It doesnt say we are not liable. I paid $10/tile and spent $1200. Asking only for 6 tiles to be replaced or refunded. They said no and wanted to charge me another $75 for another delivery plus cost of the tile!!! They go to Anaheim all the time to pick up. Expectations Supplier broke tile - Surface Concepts should work with their supplier to replace or refund. Alternatively provide me with the contact so I can. Broke on delivery- I paid for a professional delivery and they should refund or replace tile they break! How crazy is this? Tile with flaws - several tiles broke during install due to internal flaws. I was pushing with my hands only when leveling on mortar. Some snapped due to large deep fissures, which is an issue with the tile quality. Again i paid $10/tile for 12x12 limestone which is expensive for limestone . Not marble or something where $10 could be cheap. For the price i expect better quality. read more

Stopped in to look at some tile. Walked in and saw two people behind the counter and a total of three others in the show room. Not one of them took the time to ask if we needed help with anything. Of the five people one was with a customer and the others we not. I did see a sign taped up on the door that said appointments are recommended but nothing said it was needed or mandatory. A simple "Hi how are you is there anything we can help you with" would of been great and would of went a long way. We were in the store for 15 minutes with zero help or acknowledgment. If the store was super busy and they were short staffed I would understand but not with 2 customers in it. Customer service still goes a long ways. read more

Surface Concepts did a fantastic job on our kitchen quartz countertops. We had a very large island that required creative thought as to seam location, not only from an aesthetic standpoint but also as a means to avoid needing 3 quartz slabs. All other vendors that came to bid the job told me that I would need 3 slabs; Surface Concepts found a way to achieve the look I wanted with just 2 slabs. We are going through a remodel and our contractor recommended we come to surface concepts to pick out our tile and slab for our showers and bathrooms. When you walk in here your jaw will drop. There are 1 million tile choices surrounding you and somehow you have to pick something. It's so overwhelming. Well thank GOD we asked Ian for help because he made everything crystal clear and was the hugest help to us. He was so passionate about tile and slabs (lol) and so so SO helpful. We were able to pick out our master and guest shower tile, grout, shower pan, bathroom flooring, and counter tops with his help within an hour or two. He even gave us some great design ideas that we are using and we can't wait to see how amazing it turns out. I recently did a full remodel of my Kitchen, and depending on who you work with, your Kitchen can either turn out great or it can be a disaster. The entire remodel nearly killed me when a few contractors I used didn't do the best job, but then came time for the counter tops and boom - a glimmer of hope. Here comes Ron Sickel, the hero of the day, that not only provided me with excellent service but also fantastic prices for the type of material we wanted. So thrilled to have a slab yard and nice tile showroom in South County, without having to drive up to Anaheim for remodel needs. Ian (one of the designers) was super helpful with selection and service. The other staff I met were equally as pleasant and skilled (a couple of them came over to give their opinion). Wish I could say that I had the same experience as others. We definitely found the store to have an extensive selection, which was great, however the service was less than stellar. Guessing that if you arrive with a contractor you will have better service? Casey assisted us and he was mostly indifferent, never followed thru with a sample we wanted to order and had difficulty with one of the tile orders we placed with them. They work on your behalf for quality product, very very knowledgeable sales staff, and go the EXTRA mile to make sure you get what you need. I had a project that was on a very strict time line. Near the end, I needed some special order trim. No problem for them, they gave me a fantastic price, and got it ordered right away. They tracked it for me and when UPS had lost it, they took the initiative to have the manufacturer overnight it another order...since they knew I needed it right away. They were extremely helpful, and when I received the products, and had them installed... everything I purchased there was gorgeous. They have the most beautiful products, and the hardwood flooring is something that I had never seen before.
