Surfside Diner had been bookmarked for a while, but wasn't sure how the parking situation was going to be in downtown Palm Beach (the Island, NOT West Palm in case you think the latter is what I meant). Fortunately, there were more than a couple of spaces available on South County Road, not even a block from the location. Word to the wise, I think the limit on these spots is an hour. Apart from that, Surfside Diner is a nice place to go enjoy breakfast and/or lunch for a reasonable price (per Palm Beach standards). Grabbing a spot at the counter, I ordered an omelette with chicken sausage, jalapenos, American cheese, with an arugula salad and rye toast. All of which were delicious and hit the spot. We were in the area and had driven by before, and saw people waiting on line to get in. So we figured it must be good. And we were not disappointed. Some have described this as a "diner on steroids", and from the portion size, I could appreciate why. Service by Jonathan was efficient and pleasant. He welcomed us to Surfside Diner and announced his name. He he wore a t shirt with the name of the diner, like all the staff. He efficiently brought our food and followed up to ask if all was ok. I ordered a veggie burger which was fresh and very tasty. Only complaint was it was water thin. It needed some of its own steroids, and could have been thicker for the $8.95 price. The chicken salad sandwich on whole grain bread was humongous. And I tasted the chicken salad and it was chunky and delicious. I saw some other patrons who had ordered omelettes and pancakes and they looked huge. Next time we will try an omelette, it's clearly their go to breakfast item, which appears to be served all day. Rated a 4 instead of a 5 cause the veggie burger was so thin and their AC was broken. While the AC was a temporary situation, I'm surprised that a diner like this, off Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, didn't have a 24/7 AC contract and have that fixed already. read more

The food was good, the service was not. She was busy on her phone. Quaint, nice diner. My daughter said the chocolate cake was the best she ever had. Each item on the menu is alacart. Our brunch was well over $50 for two, one being a child. So safely be prepared to get diner food for $30 plus per person (with parking). The cost did not yield the service. But hey its Palm Beach, I am sure the rent is atrocious. We could only eat half of what we ordered, as the portions were more then generous. I think it was a nice experience for my daughter to see the island. The locals seem nice, I like to say good morning to the Palm Beachers. This was a great place to grab a bite after an early morning flight. It was only a few blocks from the hotel, so we walked. I believe there is limited street parking as well. Our waitress was attentive. I ordered a tuna sandwich with toasted bread and they definitely brought it! I had a huge scoop of tuna in each half of my sandwich plus fresh lettuce and tomato. I was also able to substitute my side of potato chips for a small side salad ($1.50). My grandmother loved the burger she got and said its one of the best she's ever had at any restaurant. The service was alright, it took a while for us to be acknowledged after we were sat down. The menu is pretty classic with a nice mix or regional treats. This is why I opted for Alaskan smoked salmon on an eggs Benedict's and we also had the classic Benedict as well. Both of these were amazing the smoked salmon was one of the best I've had for sure. The only reason I'm giving this place a 4 instead of a 5 is because the service left so much to be desired, they weren't attentive and everything took a long time to come out even though the place wasn't busy. So happy I stopped into this little diner over the weekend! The atmosphere, service and food were all top-notch. I actually came across this place thanks to Yelp. I was looking for a brunch option after doing a long run past the beach on Palm Beach and this was the top recommendation. Once I finished up my miles, I hopped in the car and took a ride over to the Surfside Diner. The diner was pretty busy but there wasn't a wait. I was able to grab a seat at the bar/counter area. I was waited on immediately and since I was so hungry promptly ordered an egg white omelet. Now, the omelet itself isn't super pricy, but when you add all of the extra stuff in it, it really starts to get expensive. My egg white omelet was almost $15! But I figured it was a special occasion since I was leaving town and I had just run so far. The omelet was excellent -- probably one of the better ones I've ever had. It was put together perfectly and the arugula salad served with it was also excellent! There was a whole area of cakes and cookies that I would love to try the next time I come in. It's a five star diner. On Palm Beach. Which means it's going to be expensive and during the season, really really busy. That said, they do a great job, usually eat there a few times a month. Almost always get one of their salads - there are several good ones. They're really nice about adding or substituting items (for example, you can add a poached egg). Service is great. It's clean.
