We have been coming here since they opened and it has become our favorite sushi place in Long Beach. Though a tad pricey, it's good quality and good service. The staff is always friendly and tell us about the freshest fish. They have gotten to know us which really makes you feel like they care about their customers and business. I love the special touches like a free mini appetizer or fruit for dessert. On Valentine's Day they gave everyone a box or chocolates and randomly will give us "specials" on the house created by Blue or Sean. Both are awesome sushi chefs! I love this place. This is one of my favorite sushi places in town! The customer service is always amazing. I have been a patron for multiple years. They seem to choose waiters that really act like they care about the place and the customers. I have never had a bad experience. They always make me feel welcome. The food is amazing! It is not overly priced and they give generous portions of the actual fish in the rolls. I don't know about other reviews; I have never had sushi I thought was bad or old. The portions of fish are simply generous. The prices are average for a sushi place, not overpriced like a few other places in town. I saw that someone complain about sticky tables. Though I have noticed this, they religiously clean the tables so I think it is just the cleaning solution they use. Also, some advice - this is not a cocktail restaurant. It was our first time here... there was a long wait at Sushi On Fire so we walked over here. Everything was good (seaweed salad, the miso soup, etc...) until the sushi came. The salmon had no favor, the tuna had some kind of tendon, we couldn't chew it and had to spit it out. The red snapper look dull so we afraid to eat & left it. Signed up on Yelp today only to say how much I enjoyed Sushi Ai. I have enjoyed Sushi in many states and countries and this was literally the best overall experience I have had. Presentation was simple but appealing, price is spot on, and taste was beyond my expectations. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming.
