I was actually planning on eating at another place in this plaza and then I saw Bamboo Teri House and remembered I've been wanting to try this place out for a while! Lots of daily specials and the menu is quite extensive too. I ordered to go so I went with a combo which was really tasty! Good portions too. Parking can be challenging but when is it ever easy in Long Beach!

Bamboo Teri House is a winner. When in Long Beach we like to stop here for a quick lunch.. they have great lunch specials.. the lovely missus tells me this was her favorite place during her college and medical career days. She has her Teri chicken and noodles with vegetable tempura and a salad... my tasty meal consisted of chicken Teri on a bed of white rice, a couple slices of CA roll and chicken on a stick over noodles. It was yummy and very friendly service. There will be no hesitation if the missus chooses Bamboo Teri House.

Came here for the second time now. Looking at my first review I thought maybe it's better this time. Well it was ok. Wish it was better but I was dissatisfied with my roll. I guess I won't order rolls here.

Bamboo Teri House has been serving the Long Beach community for over forty years and it's something that we need to continue to support! While they do have sushi rolls that you could sample at a discount for happy hour before 5pm, it's the teriyaki and Japanese Curry that I crave from here. For a little over $30 on a Tuesday, I was able to get (1) a "Funtastic Tempura Bowl" ($12.60) for shrimp/vegetable tempura, teriyaki chicken, rice, and noodles, (2) a teriyaki chicken bowl ($12.50), and (3) a plate of vegetable tempura with six pieces ($6). This was easily enough for my wife and I, and we felt that it was a great value. I intend to take my coworkers here with me on weekday happy hour before 5pm for some appetizers and $14 Sapporo pitchers. Overall, I think they have pretty filling rice bowls, and I hope that this place stands for another forty years; however, that will depend on the community continuing to support it!

Was visiting niece in hospital and her favorite food is a crunchy roll. Looked up some places near hospital this one popped up and it was delicious. Roll was good size I also ordered a beef bowl best one I have tried yet. Place has a good happy hour. Inside it's spacious plenty of seating. Service is great will def be coming back when I'm in the area.

Solid little spot for some affordable, delicious eats. Crowded and a little cluttered, this place gives off some longstanding lowkey local vibes. But remember, you're not coming for some super chic ambiance, you're coming to fill your belly in this economy. Their ichiban dinner special has a whole lotta variety for ~$16: chicken teriyaki on rice, katsu, some tempura, a couple maki, a gyoza, a spring roll, and seaweed salad all neatly packed in a bento. I got the Super Bowl (~$14), which was chicken teriyaki, two pieces of tempura, a couple pieces of their sesame chicken (bomb), and steamed veggies. I was expecting more than two baby carrots and a broccoli floret for my veggies, but shouldn't complain -- they were very generous with the protein. The Mini Bowl (~$9) had rice, yakisoba, chicken teriyaki, and sesame chicken as well. It seemed like a good amount of food for a reasonable price tag. All together, our family of 4 was able to eat for about $60. Supporting a local business in the process? That's definitely a win.

On one hand, I want to gate keep this place because I don't want it to get too crowded. However, I need them to stay open so I have to share. I've been going to Bamboo Teri House for over 24 years. I love sushi and no matter where I go. I always compare any new sushi I'm trying to Bamboo Terri House. Always fresh, always prepared well with the perfect amount of seasonings for all their dishes. The way they add the tempura to make any sushi roll crunchy is perfection. I don't want to start naming the rolls because they are all so yummy! I've never had a bad roll here. Even though they went up on the pricing, it's still very reasonable. You can get some great deals with their specials or happy hour. It's small but quaint. They always keep everything clean and they periodically update the decor. I will keep coming back here for the sushi, the noodles, salad, miso soup, teriyaki chicken, tempura, etc. By the way, the tempura here is crunchy and not greasy, simply delicious. The staff is consistently awesome. If you know you know! They are one of the best!

This is my FAVORITE Japanese restaurant to go to! I work nearby and all of us get it at least once or twice a week for lunch. They're always so kind, very mom and pop feel. And the food is great quality, not something you normally see with a place that has such a huge menu. Inside it's very homey and the decor is quirky which I love.

    Fantastic Tempura Bowl

This little hole in the wall has been around forever and has some of the best food. The prices are somewhere between fast food and sit down restaurant. If you go for lunch, they always have daily specials that are a bargain. There is also a happy hour menu from 2pm to 5pm. I've never had anything I didn't like. Craving Japanese food? Limited on time and didn't want to break the bank? This is your spot.

Ok so talking about what "Authentic Japanese food" - since 80's this restaurant is owned and run by a Japanese couple from Japan. They have so many variety of food you can think of (or even more than you know!) and now, they have that loving Matcha Late too (hey Starbucks?) and series of good Ramen, which the owner pursuit for the best noodle and soup for that. Sushi - been always taste good Japanese sushi (because, you know, some other places, they don't taste fish at all) and this time I tried "Miso Salmon roll" for the first time, and It was soooooo GOOD!!! Waiting time is nothing to complain! Thare are so many more menu that I need to try, so I will be back for my ... maybe like 30th time, soon next month. :) So funny when I was eating lunch there last Friday, 3 friends coincidentally came to come eat at the same time! Love this place!!!

The menu had such a wide variety of Japanese cuisine, from sushi, to katsu, to donburi, there's something for everyone! Loved the modern clean vibes of the interior. They start you off with complimentary miso soup, which was full and rich (a bit salty for my liking but that's just me). We also ordered a plate of nigiri as our appetizer, and the fish quality was really fresh. I ordered the chicken katsu plate for myself, and my was it delicious. I've never tasted katsu so light even though it's typically fried, and love the sauce they paired the katsu with. It was almost like a mustard? But it wasn't too overpowering or anything. We finished the night with the tempura ice cream, and let me tell you, this is a MUST. I honestly just expected them to throw some panko on top of a scoop of ice cream, but Te-Buru's take is (somehow) baking a tempura crust right onto a giant scoop of ice cream and then cutting up the scoop into wedges. The ice cream surprisingly did not melt all that quickly either, and the matcha flavor was on point. Our servers were quick to meet our requests, nothing super outstanding but made the meal pretty seamless. Prices I think were pretty standard except for their sushi. Those are bit on the steeper side, but again, their fish quality is really good. For parking, they do have a small lot, but there's also street parking and parking in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. You'd be delulu not to try Te-Buru!

Didn't enjoy the scallop handroll as much; however, they had a scallop sashimi appetizer this month that was amazing. The appetizer had thinly sliced hotate (Hokkaido scallops), seasoned with yuzu and it was delicious. Also ordered a soft-shell crab appetizer and we appreciated the meatiness of the soft-shell crab. I tried the Nemo roll, the spicy scallops sushi, and the three amigos handroll. My favorite was the handroll. The fish tasted so fresh! I would definitely come back for more handrolls! The scallop sushi was also solid, a little too mayo forward for my liking, but still solid. It was hard to eat with the scallops falling out though! The Nemo roll was great! It was described to me as the salmon version of the sunset roll and I love salmon, so I was really happy with this recommendation. This is a very casual spot, with parking that can sometimes become difficult due to the limited space. But it's definitely a solid choice!

It was tiring to try and tag someone down for every single thing. Shouldn't someone come by to check on patrons? lol I dunno wassup with this place... Another downfall was charging $13 for a soju cocktail, but no hint of soju was outrageous...yah, it was pretty and the cup was a decent size...but I wasn't ordering sodas. Presentation of each dish was not bad. The foods were alright. The positive thing about this place was the business hours . They opened pretty late. So if you're hungry or want a late night snack, then drop by. I think most sushi places in the area closed by 10pm. The parking was small.

I've had a wide range of their sushi rolls and nigiri, and they've all been amazing. Some standouts: Salmon Sample, Aburi Miso Salmon, Toro, Salmon Lemon Roll, and Yuzu Roll. My favorite appetizer is the Agedashi Tofu. The flavors are insane! They also have a "bento box" type of option where you can choose two or three items for a great price. This is a great option for non-sushi eaters and sushi eaters alike because the options include chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu, tempura, and several roll options. Service is usually pretty good. They have some outdoor seating available in front of the restaurant, which is lovely during good weather. A great place for a solo dinner, date, or a friend/family dinner.

Was craving sushi this day and decided to stop into Sushi Beluga for the first time. Great reviews on the quality of their fish. A bit expensive, but wanted to try what the chef would recommend, hoping that it wasn't too busy, so could strike up a conversation and learn some things. I stopped in about 5 minutes after their posted start time (12:15), and there were already two tables seated at the outdoor patio, so a good sign. The single server was busy servicing one of the tables. So I walked by her, going inside. It was empty inside, except for the sushi chef who was busy working. Asked him, if I could sit at the bar and he said sure: "Anywhere you like". So I sat at the bar spot closest to the wall, not wanting to hog up too much space. All the place settings had been set for each spot, and there were paper take-out pamphlets that doubled as menus, so studied that for a bit. Soon the efficient waitress came back, noticed where I was sitting and promptly brought ice water without a word and left. I kept studying the menu. She came from behind with an 'excuse me', and proceeded to stuff more paper menus into the slot to my left (filling it up), making me move. OK, so I must have sat in a bad spot (no reason to fill up a slot that already had menus, especially when she seemed busy). So I moved one spot over. The waitress had come back from outside passing by, and I let her know I had a question. Without missing a beat, she gave a quick 'Just a minute', and right back into the kitchen. She came out a bit later with drinks for the table outside, right by me without a word. At this point, I addressed the chef right in front of me, to ask him what he recommended (just to see if he spoke). He was straight to the point, saying the king salmon, spanish mackerel, yellowtail, and seabream. So I knew I wasn't going to get any detailed conversation, but told him I've never had seabream before (to be honest, I didn't even know it was a fish). He said it was mild fish, similar to amberjack. So that helped. He then asked/told me "You don't like salmon". Thinking back, maybe he wasn't asking a question, but I took it as an opportunity to discuss, so told him I much prefer tuna, and asked him. He mentioned he had toro and bluefin, so I asked him the market price for the toro, which he knew (too high for me). Then I waited for the waitress. She came back and asked if I had made up my mind, never acknowledging that I had asked a question before. So I placed my order and she left. As she passed again, I said 'Hi' with a raised hand , but she didn't hear it. I was irritated and said loudly, "Hello!' as she went to the kitchen. This time, she came back out. I asked to add a bowl of white rice, and her response was 'You want it, NOW?'. "No, with my food, please". It was clear the chef was just ignoring what was going on. So I stewed and thought about just standing up and leaving (glad I didn't). Instead, I moved myself to a table inside facing a window, so I could at least have something to look out at while waiting. Nobody said anything. Each of them had a job to do, and woe to the customer if not understanding who does what. The waitress was efficient, keeping my water filled, and bringing out each dish immediately as the chef finished, telling me what it was. And I have to admit, the dishes were marvelous. It came in this order. Amberjack Crudo ($22) - loved this. It was 6 pieces of buttery hamachi, dressed in a ponzu sauce, with crunchy flakes on top. Would have loved to know more about this, but as the menu didn't describe, who else would I have asked? Octopus Karaage ($9.99) - so much better for me than takoyaki, mostly tenacle with a light batter, well deep-fried. Really enjoyed it. Bluefin Tuna ($9.99) - didn't look as pretty as others and looked a bit old, but it tasted fine, with no sinew. The two nigiri pieces had a very generous amount. Steam Rice ($2.50) - wish it had come at the beginning, before the crudo. Spanish Mackerel ($10) - two nigiri pieces and it was a revelation. Neatly made and dressed, it still had the distinct flavor of mackerel but was a lot more buttery than any other version I've ever had. Don't think I can go back to the cheaper cuts often served for sushi specials at other places. Seabream ($10) - two nigiri, first time and won't be last. It's a great sushi fish, mild and smooth. Was the one time when the waitress advised, "don't dip in soy sauce, it's already dressed". I kept my interaction minimal at this point, no acknowledgement unless directly asked a question, moving my empty plate to the end when done, and presenting my credit card when I wanted to pay. I don't mind minimalistic service when the food is this good, but the service (of both) was really, really poor.

(i think from the ponzu, i LOVE PONZU)! every bite was BURSTING WITH FLAVOR :') incredible combinations. chef's kiss. parking is on the street, so it CAN be tricky to find a spot... but the area is lovely to walk through, especially at night! we were told the meters aren't active after 7pm and parked in a 25 minute loading zone spot with no problems at all.

I did not come prepared for a chilly night. We were supposed to just have coffee and go for a walk, but we needed a warm place, so we stumbled upon this place. It's actually pretty good. We sat at the counter/bar. The servers were nice. What we got: Salmon/tuna poke bowl: quite yummy. A mixture of both salmon and tuna in a great poke sauce over a bed of rice and salad. Salmon skin salad: if you like salmon skin, this is yummy. A perfect crunch seasoned really well to complement the bed of greens. Furikake fries: thinly cut potato's with furikake seasoning paired with a sweet mustard dipping sauce. I would have enjoyed more Furikake on the fries, but that's just me. This place has real wasabi if you ask for it instead of the watered down stuff you usually get. It's actually pretty good! Overall great food and great service. I'd come back for sure!

And eating sushi spots through Yelp is even more difficult because imo what people think is good sushi is subjective lol. I am pretty darn picky, I want the fish fresh period, and the size of the bites correct. This experience was for my bday and I had 3 teenagers with me so we opted for rolls because this isn't AYCE and I didn't feel like dropping $500 on nigiri! Rolls are a bit more cost effective especially when my son and I are eating. The rolls we got: PS Roll, Candy Cane, Caterpillar, Tsunami, Lynn (didn't try this one: as tempura and cream cheese just isn't really my thing), Incredible Roll, Cali roll (this was for my daughter, who isn't into sushi. She got this and ramen-forgot to snap a pic). Everything was delicious! Wait staff is extremely friendly, helpful and very efficient! This place is usually poppin, and most of the times I did have to wait for a table (but this is a GOOD sign in a sushi spot!) Empty restaurants scare me a bit, but especially a sushi spot! On other occasions, I have had there nigiri, sashimi plates... and I have never been disappointed! Def a go to spot if you're in the area!
