    Beef Sukiyaki Bowl

I feel bad I haven't written a review to one of my favorite Japanese food experiences for the last two decades! Tried this place when I was only 16 (now 37), and fell in love with the delicious food and stellar customer service from every employee that has ever worked there. Since I've been here through the years, every employee I've interacted with has always provided outstanding customer service, always creating a welcoming environment for all guests. I really enjoy a lot of items on their menu. Highly recommend their Mixed Tempura, Sukiyaki Bowl and Super Bowl or even the Mini Bowl menu items. They always give you a decent amount of protein to go with your carbs! Not sure or maybe picky? Just grab their 3 item combo and taste a little of their main items. Overall, love this little hole in the wall spot and will keep on coming back whenever I'm in the neighborhood.

I don't think I've ever actually had a katsu Don before and by all the reviews I had to try it! Seeing it was egg with onion over rice with chicken reminded me of a dish my mom would make, not quite like this but very similar. This was really good and tasty! Good portion as I could've finish it all but leftovers are great! Chicken was nice and tender too. Service was friendly and efficient and several people dining inside too which is always a great sign! Can't wait to go back and try more things from their very extensive menu options!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Looks like a small place from the outside, but there's tons of seating inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Definitely a spot to bring the family or if you want a quick bite or if you want to catch up with a friend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have yummy drinks to choose from, they have the sodas and glass bottles that are so delicious, great food options even sushi is good! Service was amazing. We could not have been happier. The quality of the food was so good.

Bamboo Teri House is a winner. When in Long Beach we like to stop here for a quick lunch.. they have great lunch specials.. the lovely missus tells me this was her favorite place during her college and medical career days. She has her Teri chicken and noodles with vegetable tempura and a salad... my tasty meal consisted of chicken Teri on a bed of white rice, a couple slices of CA roll and chicken on a stick over noodles. It was yummy and very friendly service. There will be no hesitation if the missus chooses Bamboo Teri House.

Came here for the second time now. Looking at my first review I thought maybe it's better this time. Well it was ok. Wish it was better but I was dissatisfied with my roll. I guess I won't order rolls here.

Went a second time after I fractured my wrist, and the food did not disappoint. I honestly think it has a healing spell as my wrist was feeling good. GOATED service & atmosphere. Will come again

Bamboo Teri House has been serving the Long Beach community for over forty years and it's something that we need to continue to support! While they do have sushi rolls that you could sample at a discount for happy hour before 5pm, it's the teriyaki and Japanese Curry that I crave from here. For a little over $30 on a Tuesday, I was able to get (1) a "Funtastic Tempura Bowl" ($12.60) for shrimp/vegetable tempura, teriyaki chicken, rice, and noodles, (2) a teriyaki chicken bowl ($12.50), and (3) a plate of vegetable tempura with six pieces ($6). This was easily enough for my wife and I, and we felt that it was a great value. I intend to take my coworkers here with me on weekday happy hour before 5pm for some appetizers and $14 Sapporo pitchers. Overall, I think they have pretty filling rice bowls, and I hope that this place stands for another forty years; however, that will depend on the community continuing to support it!

Was visiting niece in hospital and her favorite food is a crunchy roll. Looked up some places near hospital this one popped up and it was delicious. Roll was good size I also ordered a beef bowl best one I have tried yet. Place has a good happy hour. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside it's spacious plenty of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is great will def be coming back when I'm in the area.

I went to Bamboo Teri House yesterday after getting my nails done next door and decided to grab something quick to eat. I ordered the two-combo plate with noodles and salad, and went with the chicken katsu and ginger chicken. The food was pretty good. Nothing super fancy or over-the-top, but definitely a solid meal for a decent price. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was actually pretty packed when I went, which is usually a good sign.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered to go, so I can't speak much about the full dine-in service. But the employees at the register were very helpful and really nice, especially when making recommendations. One thing to know is parking is not great. There's very limited parking in that area, so you may have to circle a bit or park nearby. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a good, casual meal that won't break the bank. Flavor Profile (for reference): Umami-forward (savory, salty depth) Acidic or bright (tangy + sour) Pungent & intense (spicy + bitter notes) Drink Preference (for reference): Bitter-forward cocktails Balanced acidity Light sweetness only, not overly sugary

sage gave me the best customer service. she help me choose really good appetizer and a dessert. The food is delicious. I really recommend coming here. Good food and good customer service.

    Ichiban Dinner Special
    Kristina F.

Solid little spot for some affordable, delicious eats. Crowded and a little cluttered, this place gives off some longstanding lowkey local vibes. But remember, you're not coming for some super chic ambiance, you're coming to fill your belly in this economy. Their ichiban dinner special has a whole lotta variety for ~$16: chicken teriyaki on rice, katsu, some tempura, a couple maki, a gyoza, a spring roll, and seaweed salad all neatly packed in a bento. I got the Super Bowl (~$14), which was chicken teriyaki, two pieces of tempura, a couple pieces of their sesame chicken (bomb), and steamed veggies. I was expecting more than two baby carrots and a broccoli floret for my veggies, but shouldn't complain -- they were very generous with the protein. The Mini Bowl (~$9) had rice, yakisoba, chicken teriyaki, and sesame chicken as well. It seemed like a good amount of food for a reasonable price tag. All together, our family of 4 was able to eat for about $60. Supporting a local business in the process? That's definitely a win.

On one hand, I want to gate keep this place because I don't want it to get too crowded. However, I need them to stay open so I have to share. I've been going to Bamboo Teri House for over 24 years. I love sushi and no matter where I go. I always compare any new sushi I'm trying to Bamboo Terri House. Always fresh, always prepared well with the perfect amount of seasonings for all their dishes. The way they add the tempura to make any sushi roll crunchy is perfection. I don't want to start naming the rolls because they are all so yummy! I've never had a bad roll here. Even though they went up on the pricing, it's still very reasonable. You can get some great deals with their specials or happy hour. It's small but quaint. They always keep everything clean and they periodically update the decor. I will keep coming back here for the sushi, the noodles, salad, miso soup, teriyaki chicken, tempura, etc. By the way, the tempura here is crunchy and not greasy, simply delicious. The staff is consistently awesome. If you know you know! They are one of the best!

This is one of my ordered.

The menu had such a wide variety of Japanese cuisine, from sushi, to katsu, to donburi, there's something for everyone! Loved the modern clean vibes of the interior. They start you off with complimentary miso soup, which was full and rich (a bit salty for my liking but that's just me). We also ordered a plate of nigiri as our appetizer, and the fish quality was really fresh. I ordered the chicken katsu plate for myself, and my was it delicious. I've never tasted katsu so light even though it's typically fried, and love the sauce they paired the katsu with. It was almost like a mustard? But it wasn't too overpowering or anything. We finished the night with the tempura ice cream, and let me tell you, this is a MUST. I honestly just expected them to throw some panko on top of a scoop of ice cream, but Te-Buru's take is (somehow) baking a tempura crust right onto a giant scoop of ice cream and then cutting up the scoop into wedges. The ice cream surprisingly did not melt all that quickly either, and the matcha flavor was on point. Our servers were quick to meet our requests, nothing super outstanding but made the meal pretty seamless. Prices I think were pretty standard except for their sushi. Those are bit on the steeper side, but again, their fish quality is really good. For parking, they do have a small lot, but there's also street parking and parking in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. You'd be delulu not to try Te-Buru!

After we sat down and they brought out our drinks they informed us the kitchen was closed for cooked meals. I came for sushi so I didn't care but my wife was upset and stayed for me only. Every table they would wait for drinks to arrive which in my opinion was a sneaky tactic to keep people from leaving. They should have been up front before seating customers. My boyfriend's brother did the ordering since he's been here a lot. He ordered: Peruvian Cebiche: which was the catch of the day, tiger milk, ahi Amarillo, concha, and sweet potato. The ambiance is more upscale, with high ceilings and an open kitchen concept. Could see it being a nice place for business meals. Got the summer roll which was surprisingly good! Fish was fresh and the mango was soft and sweet! The dragonfruit lemonade was extremely sweet, and that's coming from a big sweet tooth. Wanted to try more things but I was already spending around $30 on a roll + a drink for lunch and didn't feel like forking over $50 for lunch. Unfortunately, the slow service put a damper on my experience. I went at the tail end of lunch on a random Tues and there were only about 3 or 4 tables at that time. I waited at my table for 20mins before my waiter came around, which made me feel some kind of way when, later, 2 other parties were seated and acknowledged within 5 mins. It took another 20mins for 1 roll to come out (the other 2 tables behind me literally just got the menu and the remaining tables were in the middle of paying/leaving so I was the only one who was waiting on food). If service is this slow during a weekday at the end of lunch time, then I can only imagine how slow it will be during rush hour or weekends, not to mention during their AYCE rush hour. Parking can also be a bit of a challenge. As I said, I came at the end of lunch so although the spots were full, many patrons were returning to their car and it was less than a 1min wait for a spot. However, the spots are a little small compared to the large SUVs and vans parked there. So if coming at a popular time, be prepared to park far or feel like you're able to scrape the SUVs parked next to you. TLDR: Would try again for happy hour or maybe if entertaining any out of town guests.

I've had a wide range of their sushi rolls and nigiri, and they've all been amazing. Some standouts: Salmon Sample, Aburi Miso Salmon, Toro, Salmon Lemon Roll, and Yuzu Roll. My favorite appetizer is the Agedashi Tofu. The flavors are insane! They also have a "bento box" type of option where you can choose two or three items for a great price. This is a great option for non-sushi eaters and sushi eaters alike because the options include chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu, tempura, and several roll options. Service is usually pretty good. They have some outdoor seating available in front of the restaurant, which is lovely during good weather. A great place for a solo dinner, date, or a friend/family dinner.

I was the only patron at around 6 pm on a Wednesday night. The server was fantastic; attentive and very friendly, but the food was mediocre. The Edamame was mushy and the Tempura was so so and also mushy. Both seemed overcooked. I ordered a variety of Nigiri Sushi which was adequate but very average at best. Nowhere near the 4.7 starts this place was rated. I will say the Toro Maguro was good but the rest of it was average.

(i think from the ponzu, i LOVE PONZU)! every bite was BURSTING WITH FLAVOR :') incredible combinations. chef's kiss. parking is on the street, so it CAN be tricky to find a spot... but the area is lovely to walk through, especially at night! we were told the meters aren't active after 7pm and parked in a 25 minute loading zone spot with no problems at all.

I did not come prepared for a chilly night. We were supposed to just have coffee and go for a walk, but we needed a warm place, so we stumbled upon this place. It's actually pretty good. We sat at the counter/bar. The servers were nice. What we got: Salmon/tuna poke bowl: quite yummy. A mixture of both salmon and tuna in a great poke sauce over a bed of rice and salad. Salmon skin salad: if you like salmon skin, this is yummy. A perfect crunch seasoned really well to complement the bed of greens. Furikake fries: thinly cut potato's with furikake seasoning paired with a sweet mustard dipping sauce. I would have enjoyed more Furikake on the fries, but that's just me. This place has real wasabi if you ask for it instead of the watered down stuff you usually get. It's actually pretty good! Overall great food and great service. I'd come back for sure!

And eating sushi spots through Yelp is even more difficult because imo what people think is good sushi is subjective lol. I am pretty darn picky, I want the fish fresh period, and the size of the bites correct. This experience was for my bday and I had 3 teenagers with me so we opted for rolls because this isn't AYCE and I didn't feel like dropping $500 on nigiri! Rolls are a bit more cost effective especially when my son and I are eating. The rolls we got: PS Roll, Candy Cane, Caterpillar, Tsunami, Lynn (didn't try this one: as tempura and cream cheese just isn't really my thing), Incredible Roll, Cali roll (this was for my daughter, who isn't into sushi. She got this and ramen-forgot to snap a pic). Everything was delicious! Wait staff is extremely friendly, helpful and very efficient! This place is usually poppin, and most of the times I did have to wait for a table (but this is a GOOD sign in a sushi spot!) Empty restaurants scare me a bit, but especially a sushi spot! On other occasions, I have had there nigiri, sashimi plates... and I have never been disappointed! Def a go to spot if you're in the area!
