Food is usually decent. Recently they have gotten really skimpy with their food and their menu isn't updated. The vegetables in their vegetable tempura were cut thinner than a potato chip and their vegetable tempura that says on their menu comes with vegetables now only comes with 4 shrimp and no vegetables.... But they charge the same price. Service is always slow. I think they must be hurting for money, but I think if the service was better , how they presented their food , and if they didn't try to cut down your food portion so much it would be a good place to eat. This was my first time eating here. Hubby and I got takeout. I absolutely enjoyed my meal here. I ordered the vegetable roll, sweet potato tempura roll, miso soup, and garlic broccoli. The sweet potato roll was our favorite! It was truly a treat! So tasty and really good size pieces. My second favorite was the garlic broccoli! It had just the right amount of sweetness, a ton of garlic and the broccoli was cooked to perfection! The broccoli had just the right crunch without being over or undercooked. The other dishes were good too. I will definitely be back for the sweet potato tempura roll and broccoli. They are not allowing dine-in service at the moment it is takeout and maybe delivery. I will say that the sushi we had was delicious and this place has much potential but management needs to get their operations under control. There was one poor lady who was responsible for the entire dining room and to go orders which, unfortunately, diminished the quality of service we received. Sushi Bae is fantastic. A hidden gem right here in Woodbridge. Their orders are always on point and never wrong. The quality of their food is phenomenal and we've never had a bad roll. There staff is friendly and courteous. I've had sushi from some very good restaurants but this ranks up there as one of the best. And their prices are affordable which makes it even better and possible to eat often. I can't say enough about this place. I'm looking forward to them opening to in person dining soon. This is probably the worst sushi spot I have ever been too! I had a craving for sushi so today I decided to try a new spot since my favorite sushi spot is in Alexandria and away from home. Plus, I thought I would try to find another favorite spot so I don't have to travel so far but Boy, was that a mistake. I called and placed my order for 3 Philadelphia rolls. After I picked it up and arrived home...excited to be able to try it, I took my first bite and noticed that: 1) the rice was very sticky and soggy, as if it's been in the refrigerator for days, 2) the avocado was brown 3) it also tasted sweet, as if sugar was added. Personally, I will NEVER EVER go back and will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I was so extremely disappointed that i through out the rest of the 3 sushi orders. Stopped here on a Saturday on our way to DC to see Christmas light with a party of five(2 adults 3 kids) Walked in and there was only one other party which we were happy about, thought we'd be in and out. Ordered drinks and they came no problem then ordered our food and almost two hours it finally came. My little ones came first since it came from the kitchen and it was completely the wrong order but she was starving at the point so we said nothing until after the fact since she was still hungry. We were charged for both meals. I asked multiple times about our order and we were told it was because another big party. I noticed them making to-go orders while we waiting. I feel the customers dining in should have gotten served first. There were also at least two other tables the got seated after us got there food and left before our food ever came! You would think after saying something multiple times we'd be given a discount or something for the inconvenience. Nope. Almost $150 and almost 3 hours later we leave and missed the Christmas lights. Awful and slow service. Our waiter (Calvin) gave our plate of sushi to another table. The other table noticed that it was not their order so they called him over to tell him. He then takes the sushi plate and brings it to our table with 2 pieces of sushi missing because the other table already started eating it!! When we told the waiter that we did not want the already eaten food he says "wait, so you don't want it anymore?" WTF. We were so grossed out we asked for a refund and left. My manfriend and I decided on dinner from Sushi Bae, a place we had talked a few times about trying. He loves sushi, I loved the name. We ordered take-out, which from the look of the pictures posted seems was our first mistake. Maybe if we had chosen to dine-in they would have put a little more effort into our meal. I didn't pay attention to what he ordered, but he wasn't too fond of it. "too salty, undercooked veggies" Since I'm fancy, I had the filet and shrimp combination which came with 1 1/2 (that's ONE and a HALF) vein-in "Gulf" shrimp. After making it through the first half of my meal (of which a quarter was spit out due to excessive chewiness) I lifted another fat-filled bite of filet to my mouth, and this time looked down to find quite the garnish.. It wasn't just an eyelash or normal strand of hair that all of us have found in our food at some point. If it were, I would have picked it out and kept going (I've had worse things in my mouth). But what I found was a dark, curly, course hair lying right on top of my next bite. It was the type of hair you wouldn't expect to find from Sushi Bae, but rather, Bae's Sushi. I've gone to this location many times for sushi since it's close to my home. It's not your extravagant type of restaurant, but they do keep it nice and the food is good. I've been coming here since it was Ariang, and the quality has remained the same and the service is fast. I usually order from their Pick 2 menu. You get an appetizer and two choices of sushi rolls. They also have a good selection of specialty rolls that I have yet to try. Since I live so close I need to be more adventurous and just pick a random roll to try. lol The restaurant is rarely crowded, at least when I go. I've gone a couple of times when there was literally nobody in the restaurant. Although I'm basing this review on my visit yesterday (Friday) and there was a little bit of a crowd in the main dining room. My only concern was that they were leaving dirty glasses on the bar. I placed a to-go order and was waiting at the bar and noticed that nobody was taking the glasses back to be washed. They sat their for a good 15-20 min (the duration of my wait) and more dirty glasses were added. On a better note, I haven't seen this done on my previous visits, so hopefully it won't be something I notice again in the future. As for the food, my sushi rolls have always been delicious! I've ordered their tempura veggies, their dumplings, the edamame, and even their bento boxes and they were all yummy! The presentation of their rolls were nice and well put together. I don't know how many times I've gone to other sushi places and the minute I dip my piece into the soy sauce it falls apart. Luckily, I don't have that issue at Sushi Bae. The service is good as well. Whenever I needed something, a server (any server) is around to assist. They're all very nice people. Since this restaurant is located in a very residential area, it really does feel more like a neighborhood spot for just us. This place lives up to more than it's name. The sushi is amazing! The array of appetizer choices and main menu courses is substantial, but not overwhelming (like Cheesecake Factory). The variety of flavor (e.g. mango, jalapeño peppers, etc.) combination nations in the specialty rolls are divine. Service was great. The wait time for sushi was short compared to most sushi spots. The sushi specialty rolls were average in price range ($10-15). Hardwood floors. Peaceful atmosphere. Comfortable seating. The culture is subtly stated in the upholstery and design accents. The last two times have been awful.. tonight we ordered delivery and it was some of the worst food we have ever received ( I'm hoping we don't get sick). Date night!!!! And this time it was my turn! I was in the mood for Japanese today, so we looked for the highest rated Japanese place on Yelp, and we were on our way to Ariang. Upon entering, I noticed how small the place was, but it didn't matter....we were both famished. I automatically go straight for sushi because...it appears that I'm quite the fan. The bf? Not so much. The sushi that they have....hell, the whole menu was really cheap in my eyes. $5 for a spicy tuna roll?!?! I think yes! But I saw a combo that was more appealing: the spicy maki roll, which consists of a spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, and a spicy california roll. I asked to change the latter to a spicy yellowtail roll and she said it was fine. Miso soup and salad were included for $15 (!!!!!!). The bf got the Ariang special, which consists of 2 6oz sirloin steaks, and two sides. He chose the hibachi rice and garlic mashed potatoes, and added hibachi shrimp to it for $28 total. And he had a chicken yakitori appetizer ($7)...my lil monster can eat huh? First his review (he wanted me to mention his first): he LOVED the rice! And he also says to NEVER get the garlic mashed potatoes (which is correct. You shouldn't expect a place that specializes in Japanese food to make a mean mashed potato)....also he thought the yakitori was amazing. All in all, he liked everything except for the mash. Me? Oh I didn't forget! I loved my rolls. They fill the rolls generously with tuna/salmon/yellowtail. I think it might have had some mayo mixed into it, which is something that I do when I make my own spicy tuna rolls, so it's cool. The only thing is that they don't really make it spicy, so I added wasabi to my soy sauce. The miso soup was soul-warming and the salad was fresh and crisp. It doesn't have that sesame dressing, but that orangey onion tasting dressing that I normally avoid at all cost, but this was by far the best one I've had. We spent about $50 because he became overwhelmed at how cheap the place was, so he got + $30 worth of food versus my $15 (he says "it's life") Will definitely go again!! read more

I like their food but wow their prices are too high for the size of portions. We ordered out for Valentine's day and paid $25 for Salmon Teriyaki. We got a 3-4 oz salmon filet, 4 pieces of broccoli and a side of rice. I was stunned because these prices are steak house prices and you get at least 6 oz at any restaurant for that price. Now mind you, I was always weary about trying raw fish. But I definitely recommend this place. They don't just serve amazing sushi, they have an abundance of food you can choose. Ordered all my usual favorites: mackerel nigiri, ikura, salmon avocado roll, scallop tempura roll, white tuna roll. Pricing was comparable to the usual places I go. $33. Immediately noticed the roll fillings were skimpy (mostly avocado) and the rice was thick. Mackerel was thin. Ikura was skimpy. A single layer over the rice. Taste was totally below par for all the pieces. Honestly it was like barely a step above target sushi. Even Harris Teeter sushi is better quality. Super disappointed :/ read more

The soup was excellent and the salad ample and fresh. The sushi arrived, the presentation was excellent. However, the first bite was a disappointment. The sushi was warm. This was my first time here. I just got in to sushi just last year and was looking for a nice place to try new things. The ambiance is very nice. Very elegant and casual, nice lighting, and clean. I ordered a Mai Tai - it was very good and reasonably priced. There are so many things I wanted to try but with just me, and how filling sushi is, I knew I could only get a hand roll and a special roll. I ordered the Spicy Scallop Roll and the Burning Desire Roll. Both were very yummy! The Burning Desire had just the right amount of heat and the Spicy Scallop had a nice crunch and just the right bite-size. They offer Hibatchi and other entrees if Sushi isn't your thing. The food was okay. It would've been nice if there was a section on the menu for vegetarians. The kids hibachi was on the menu, but I was still charged the adult price for the smaller portions. I was also charged for every serving of yum yum sauce plus some extra that the waitress said she gave us. The waitress seemed inexperienced and I had to ask multiple times if she could bring out the soup and salad while we waited for the main course.
