I would not expect top tier restaurant quality fish, but still good quality that is good for the price. It is a great show stopping piece! This place completely surprised me! I'd seen it pop up on social media a few times and finally got the chance to try it--and I'm so glad I did. It's takeout only, which made ordering super easy. We ordered online and even scored a discount through a special on their website. We got the Salmon Lover for two and the two-person combo sushi boat. We split everything between four people and still had leftovers! The fish was incredibly fresh, with generous portions. My favorite poke was the spicy mango tuna--so flavorful. They even include a mini bottle of soy sauce, which was such a cute touch. There are plenty of sides to choose from, and you get a really good amount of rice. The sushi boat is definitely on the pricier side, and I was a bit skeptical at first because of the packaging. I wasn't sure if the quality would live up to the presentation, but it absolutely did. Man, I can't say enough good things about our experience with Sushi Boat! Online ordering was so easy with any and all questions already answered for you and clear options. Easy pick up of our Sushi Boat for four at the Sunnyvale Food Hub, btw there's lots of parking there as well as it's easy to get in and out. We took a short drive to the Kakone Garden in Saratoga. The packaging was perfect, it kept everything nice and cold while the rice remained warm. Great portion size and super fresh ingredients. I loved the poke the best. The order also came with a card describing all items in the box in case you forgot. There is an optional "picnic pack", this include bowls and all the utensils you will need. Such a fun new idea! Got a large to share for 6 adults and it was about right with a few side dishes we have brought for the kids. Fish quality was really good and all the little serving dishes and utensils were a nice touch. The reveal opening up the boat was a great start to a fun meal! Owner was extremely responsive on IG and we were able to get the sauce on the side for the poke so we could DIY a non spicy marinade for the kiddos. Pickup was at a ghost kitchen in Sunnyvale. The box was HUGE, like seriously huge! It had everything you need to make your own sushi or bowl, super fresh and really tasty. The packaging was curated with a lot of thought and paired nicely with the matching boat theme. From the spoons, bamboo bowls, and sleek black napkins, I was impressed by the quality and attention-to-detail for takeout utensils. The ahi tuna, sashimi, and seaweed salad were delicious. The fish was fresh and cut into good sized portions. There were so many toppings from cucumber, edamame, umami mushrooms, fish roe, ginger, bell peppers, green onions, fried onions, mangoes, and a side of sweet chili/spicy mayo. This is such a great deal for takeout and easy for corporate meals, picnic style, or groups. As they're still fairly new, there are a couple of things that can be improved: - the rice was a bit al dente and crumbly (perhaps serve as other options: sushi rice, brown rice, or salad?) - a few of the salmon cubes still had bits of skin - the umami mushroom was very sweet Customer Service Jon, who is the owner, was super friendly and such a joy to chat with! He contacted me as a courtesy call, to let me know that my order might be a little behind and followed up to say it'd be ready right on time. We ordered the big sushi boat and it was enough to feed five people. The pick up spot is from a ghost kitchen. The packaging is amazing, wasteful and excessive, but amazing! The triangular shaped box opens up and into literally a boat shape!!! When I was done eating, I had a pile of plastic bowls and a giant paper boat to figure out what to do with ... it broke my heart to throw it in the recycle bin. So I tried to reuse and repurpose as much as I could in my gardening. The amount of packaging waste, resulting from that one meal was enough to deterr from ordering from this place again. But I do feel like the fish was good quality, and there is good value in the meal overall. read more

Really cool experience for take-out sashimi and poke. We snagged a medium boat for 4+ people and the spread was massive! The container was cool to open up and set up. I'm not sure how long it can last sitting out since the rice was piping hot and it's all together with the fish, but we were able to set it up within 30 minutes of picking it up. My main gripe with such a large packaging was that it could barely fit in our regular sized trash bin once we were done! There were 36 piece of sashimi equally divided between salmon, tuna, and hamachi. We also picked the spicy mango tuna which was perfect for making personal poke bowls. The toppings were varied and fresh. Wow. Our friend bought this for a party at his house. We had 6 adults and 4 kids. It was exactly enough food for all of us. Some of the adults were still hungry. They say this is for 6-8 people. A friend picked up their sushi boat for 2 from a ghost kitchen, and it was a pretty good size. 4 adults split it, but we also had a sushi tray from Roku to compliment this (we did a sushi takeout competition...) I think a lot of the cost goes into the packaging, but it's a pretty fun box that literally opens up into a boat. We had DIY handrolls, and it came with: - Sashimi: bluefin tuna, salmon, hamachi - Spicy mango tuna poke (other options were available) - Fresh mango, avocado, tobiko, crispy onion, seaweed salad - Sweet and smoky shiitakes - Nori, sushi rice - 5 oz bottle of Kikkoman soy sauce - Pickled ginger, wasabi The presentation is a lot of fun, and the sushi was fresh. First of all, excellent sushi. Fresh, great tasting, big portions, great value. Secondly, I want to recognize their commitment to good service. They ran into an issue with their UberEats integration that prevented them from getting a driver assigned to my order. Their manager called me and ask if it was ok if one of their chefs ran over to deliver my lunch, and I said yes. 10 minutes later my lunch was at my lobby. The order was cancelled soon after, which means they weren't paid for their effort. Would have been easier for them to cancel the order from their end and call it a day. 10/10 this restaurant has my respect, and I look forward to ordering more from them. read more

The current reviews seem fake. The sushi is ok but a horrible deal. You can get similar fish at HMart for $20 and save off of their $150. The poke is ok. What really astounds me the most is the rice. Probably the worst quality rice of any sushi restaurant in the SF Bay. Like why? Maybe instead of spending $50 on the box, spend a few more dollars on a higher quality rice. Maybe rice making isn't able to be automated by the Cloud kitchens, but it tastes horrible, was cold, they added some stuff to it (good rice doesn't need additional stuff added to it dawg), and it tastes terrible. If this restaurant is from an Asian owner... all I have to say is "Shame." You should be ashamed of yourself for that quality of rice. This makes more sense if you're like some non-Asian owner who adds soy sauce and butter to your rice and can't tell the difference between a bad rice and a good rice. Hint: Tamaki. read more

I wish I could give them 10 stars. This takeout sashimi + poke experience was next level. Super fresh fish, and the ease and convenience of takeout. Loved being able to make your own rolls too, which can be 100% kid friendly with the rice, nori and all the other sides like pickled mushrooms, seaweed salad, edamame, cucumber etc. normally the kids would feel left out and have to resort to bento boxes, but they really enjoyed the hand rolls made with different sides! To my surprise, there was more than enough to fill us 3!!! Both my parents and myself loved the boat presentation, it made making handrolls and poke bowls super fun and personalized. I feel that there were generous portions of everything, the pack even included a whole bottle of soy sauce! Everything was delicious and left us super full for the night. The owner takes so much pride in his work and it's clear how meticulously he's thought thru every element of the sushi boat experience. I ordered Hamachi and tuna, and I have never had any sashimi in the South Bay that was more fresh than this restaurant. It comes with your own bottle of either low sodium or regular soya sauce, it also comes complete with your own bamboo rice spatula. I also chose the option that includes the poke with mango and I've never had sushi this fresh even in Hawaii. I will be back every week and I recommend that when you're thinking about something delicious to eat that is also a beautiful experience, choose this restaurant. Five stars if not more. read more

The Sushi roll I ordered "Scottish Salmon California Roll" was absolutely delicious! Very fresh and beautifully presented. I'm sorry I didn't take a photo of it but I was so hungry by the time I got home to eat it. I started eating one roll at a time right away without thinking of taking a photo. My recommendation is that you must order online before going there to pick it up. You cannot place an order like you do with most take out restaurants. So good! My kids always want to make our own sushi, but that involves a lot of time/work for me to prepare so I prefer to just order in. With Sushi Boat, they get the same experience but I don't have to prep. Love the concept of this place, and everything from the fish to the mango was top quality. They forgot my soy sauce and I had to go out to the market to buy it, which defeated the whole purpose of my ordering in. Worse poke bowl in my whole life. We ordered a late lunch around 115pm since there was nothing nearby that was open. The rice was cold and old tasting. The fish was drenched in sweet mango sauce so you can't taste the salmon hamachi or tuna: it could've been rotten fish for all we know. We paid $76 for 2 bowls w tip and all the added fees. My group of 6 wanted an "in between" option of the large boat (72 sashimi pieces) vs the party boat (228 sashimi pieces) and the owner Jon was able to accommodate our group's needs with "sashimi refill" (36 piece or 72 piece option) menu add ons to the large boat option.
