    Chikuwa isobeage

Amazing! They had some unique menu items I had never heard of. I tried the chikuwa asobeage which is a fried fish cake with seaweed and I loved it. So fun to try something new :) I also got a matcha cream brûlée which was delicious. Our waitress was so kind and it's a cute & cozy spot

Came here with my dad and we got seated really quickly! Good: - I got a udon and I thought it was a good portion size - The tempura was really nice add - I liked how it was super crispy and added a good amount of flavor - The food came out pretty quickly! - Cute place to go for a catch up Bad: - The udon wasn't super unique, a bit bland and I wouldn't have it again - A bit on the pricier side for just 2 dishes Overall this was a nice place to stop by and try since I pass by it a lot.

This was the best quality fish I've had in the Bay Area and the pricing is very reasonable. I'm allergic to shellfish and they were very accommodating to make a chirashi I could eat. I absolutely loved this lunch with my mom and we got the gyoza as well. The staff were sweet and service was great.

Food and service was excellent! The obasans and ojisan were very welcoming. The ambience was quiet but peaceful in such a busy area of cupertino. The food was very fresh and yummy. Ten Zaru is perfect for a hot day! This will now be one of my go to spots! ごちそうさまでした!!

Chef preparing my Nigiri Special Lunch togo plus Kani and Amaebi. With cold Draft Sapporo hits the spot every time when I dine in.

Fresh Nigiri Sake(Salmon) is always fresh and sweet. Ebi always fresh crisp and large Amaebi with crispy head freshly fried. Paired well with sweet cold Sake drink or cold draft beer. It is a peace outdoor setting.

first time to sushi kuni and upon walking in there is no sense of direction! only two waitresses here and there is no direction as to walk ins or to go orders the waitresses sat those that walked in first and avoided us who wanted to place an order to go so here we are ordering on the app at the bar which totally could have been avoided had anyone decided to assist us after sitting two more parties the deciding factor is to see if the food is even good , so far the service is lacking ambiance is a sushi bar with seats inside there is no first come first served here!

My family and I have been coming here for a while. It is one of the better quality Japanese restaurants out there. Very small shop but the servers are so sweet and they serve great quality seafood. I particularly like their oysters, they put some sort of topping and sauce on them that makes it unique and taste so good. Their toro is also very yummy. Nice and fatty and melts in your mouth. We also love getting their appetizers and cold udon as part of our meal. Would recommend even for take out to eat at home! We picked up food around 6:30pm and we had to wait a little for the food to be ready but we also ordered a lot of food.

    Chirashi Deluxe Lunch

I came here with my mom & a few of her friends for lunch. It's a cute hole in the wall that's clean and has very traditional Japanese decor, which I loved!! There's a good variety of dishes here, my group opted to order salmon teriyaki and beef teriyaki lunch specials (with salad and miso soup), a chirashi deluxe bowl, salmon sashimi, salmon nigiri (two pieces), and a salmon deluxe roll to split amongst four people. For dessert, we got the specialty matcha creme brulee, which I was very excited about! The food here is decent. The beef in the beef teriyaki is a bit tough, salmon teriyaki had a good texture to it. The chirashi bowl came with a good variety of fish & some tamagoyaki! I had no complaints about my salmon sashimi, it was very delicious and not too "fishy". The salmon nigiri comes with a bit of wasabi on top of the rice and below the salmon, so if you're not a fan of wasabi (I'm not) make sure to tell them you can go without it. The salmon deluxe rolls were good! Unfortunately, the matcha creme brulee was a little more hyped up in my mind. The matcha flavor wasn't too strong and the brulee wasn't as custardy as I would've hoped! It was a bit cakey/thick. Overall, pretty good meal and the service was nice. The waitress was sweet, and they pass by pretty often just since it's a small establishment so it's easy to get their attention. Overall, I'd come here again. Convenient location on De Anza & good Japanese food makes for a great combination!

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a decent experience. Parking is available in the private lot or on the nearby residential streets. Dining is available indoors in the air conditioned dining room or on the patio with umbrellas. Their whiteboard have a ton of specials which are worth checking out. Started off with the eggplant agedashi and this was lightly fried fresh eggplant in a bed of light soy sauce dopped with some grated radish and green onions. Moved on to the grilled chicken wings from the whiteboard and they were fantastic. Super fresh chicken wings and grilled to perfection while being juicy! The dragon roll was pretty decent with shrimp tempura on the inside, avocado and eel on the outside. The gyoza and tempura bento box was huge and came with a side of miso soup, salad, and rice. The tempura was decently fried and the highlight was the homemade gyoza which was freshly pan-fried. ~$33/head after tax and gratuity for lunch with plenty of leftovers.

Fish portion of the Special Dinner - delicious!

I had a wonderful meal here -- they're quick, the fish is fresh and delicious, and the service is great. What more could you ask for? I came in late, sat at the chef's counter and ordered the Special Dinner. It was huge. The miso and salad were the perfect starters -- both delicious. Then came the large fish plate with both sashimi and nigiri. All of it was incredible! This is how sushi is supposed to taste. The tempura was also good, but I don't usually eat fried food, so I couldn't finish it all. It's a quaint space, but the decor makes you feel like you're exactly where you're supposed to be. Do yourself a favor and give them a try if you haven't already, or go here again. Get the sushi - you won't be disappointed.

    Special Dinner and Volcano roll
    Dave D.

The place is cute but understated. The decor is sort of classic for a sushi restaurant which isn't a bad thing. There was almost nobody else there on a Thursday evening. The service was friendly and fast, maybe too fast. The food was mediocre at best. The tempura was hot but somewhat tasteless. The shrimp in the tempura had a weird chewy consistency and some of the vegetables were total mush. The sushi and sashimi that came with the special dinner was just not special. Cheap rice mixed with low-grade seafood does not pair well. All of the fish had a weird metallic "I was frozen for a loooong time" flavor. The sushi rice seemed to be missing any ingredients besides water. The volcano roll was actually decent, probably the best thing we ordered. It was today's special roll but I probably won't go back to find out if they keep it on the menu.

The waiter initially tried to show me the menu and point out the dish, but it was clearly different from what I had ordered. He shortly realized there had been a mistake, and thankfully the correct dish came out about 5 minutes later. Unfortunately, the pasta itself was disappointing. The noodles were undercooked, and the sauce was quite bland. I was expecting the four-fish dashi and bacon flavor to stand out, but I didn't really get much of either. The sesame seeds were also very overpowering and seemed to take over the dish. Overall, the sauce tasted more like a basic, thin cream sauce that didn't coat the noodles very well. The bacon and mushrooms also didn't add much flavor or stand out as much as I expected. My friend ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry. The katsu itself looked crispy and appetizing, but the curry came out lukewarm. My friend was okay with the temperature, but when I tried it, I was honestly surprised by how close to room temperature it was. I would have expected the curry to at least be served hot or noticeably warm. Overall, the presentation of the food was nice, but unfortunately the flavors and temperature of the dishes didn't meet our expectations. Between the initial order mix-up, undercooked pasta, bland sauce, and lukewarm curry, it just wasn't a particularly memorable meal. There are definitely some things that could be improved.

For $18.99, you get your choice of two proteins, rice, salad, and miso soup, which is a pretty generous meal for the price. We all upgraded to the premium proteins for an extra $6 each. We tried both the short ribs and the ribeye. While the short ribs were good, I actually preferred the thinly sliced ribeye--it cooked quickly, stayed tender, and had great flavor. One pleasant surprise was the salad. It wasn't just an afterthought; it was fresh, well dressed, and honestly as good as the side salads served at many Japanese restaurants. The miso soup was also solid and rounded out the meal nicely. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the s'mores dessert. At $3, you get one small rectangle of Hershey's chocolate, one marshmallow, and two graham crackers. The portions are tiny, and if you have kids, they'll almost certainly want more than one. By the time you order enough to make everyone happy, it doesn't feel like much of a value. Overall, this isn't the best Japanese BBQ I've had, but that's not really the point. It's a consistently good, affordable meal with quality ingredients and generous portions for the price. If you're looking for a satisfying lunch that won't break the bank, Kura's lunch special is an easy five-star value.

We have tried other popular local ramen spots that just were not for us, but this one was definitely better and felt like it had more depth. The one thing we did not love was the noodle texture. They were much wider and flatter than we expected, almost like fettuccine. Next time, I would ask if we could substitute a thinner, curlier, more traditional squiggly noodle instead. They have a happy hour menu from 7 to 10 pm on Saturdays, but they differ depending on the day. They have some appetizers and drinks on the happy hour menu, so we tried the gyoza, mochi and side tempura. The mochi had a house made sauce glaze that was sweet and salty, and came with nori as a wrap. The texture of the mochi was really soft and chewy. The gyoza were really crispy with a soft interior. We ended up ordering a second round of them. The tempura was nicely fried with not too much batter. The shrimp was really succulent and I liked that they have mushroom tempura too. From their regular menu, we ordered a bunch of food. I tried the yaki-onigiri ochazuke with salmon, fried chicken skin, the eggplant and various skewers. The fried chicken skin was really nice and crispy, and came with a ponzu sauce and mayo to dip in. The yaki onigiri was nicely grilled and still had crispy bits when submerged in the soup. I was really excited that they have shishamo/smelt. It was nicely roasted and didn't have any overtly fishy flavor. Everyone at my table really enjoyed their food. Many restaurants allow customers at least 30 minutes after closing to finish eating when their orders are accepted that late. At the very least, the required departure time should have been clearly communicated before we ordered. I raised the issue with the manager, she was dismissive and showed little empathy.
