For dessert, we got the specialty matcha creme brulee, which I was very excited about! The food here is decent. The beef in the beef teriyaki is a bit tough, salmon teriyaki had a good texture to it. The chirashi bowl came with a good variety of fish & some tamagoyaki! I had no complaints about my salmon sashimi, it was very delicious and not too "fishy". The salmon nigiri comes with a bit of wasabi on top of the rice and below the salmon, so if you're not a fan of wasabi (I'm not) make sure to tell them you can go without it. The salmon deluxe rolls were good! Unfortunately, the matcha creme brulee was a little more hyped up in my mind. Came by for lunch the other day and it was a decent experience. Parking is available in the private lot or on the nearby residential streets. Dining is available indoors in the air conditioned dining room or on the patio with umbrellas. Their whiteboard have a ton of specials which are worth checking out. Started off with the eggplant agedashi and this was lightly fried fresh eggplant in a bed of light soy sauce dopped with some grated radish and green onions. Moved on to the grilled chicken wings from the whiteboard and they were fantastic. Super fresh chicken wings and grilled to perfection while being juicy! The dragon roll was pretty decent with shrimp tempura on the inside, avocado and eel on the outside. The gyoza and tempura bento box was huge and came with a side of miso soup, salad, and rice. I had a wonderful meal here -- they're quick, the fish is fresh and delicious, and the service is great. What more could you ask for? I came in late, sat at the chef's counter and ordered the Special Dinner. It was huge. The miso and salad were the perfect starters -- both delicious. Then came the large fish plate with both sashimi and nigiri. All of it was incredible! This is how sushi is supposed to taste. The tempura was also good, but I don't usually eat fried food, so I couldn't finish it all. It's a quaint space, but the decor makes you feel like you're exactly where you're supposed to be. It is a really small space (the restaurant looks like a tiny house from the outside) I haven't been here in I think over a decade, so it's been here forever! We ordered the combo dinner where you get to pick two items and it comes with a salad and soup. I was very shocked that the two items were both humongous. We received a large plate of salmon terriyaki and chicken terriyaki- I almost wondered if the size was a mistake since the 2 item combo was $27 which was the same as if you only ordered one item.... Either way, it was some of the best salmon terriyaki we'd had recently. Normally I order it for my kiddos, but I find salmon terriyaki tends to be over-cooked, but this one was very tender and we all fought over it. Chicken wasn't bad, but we didn't feel the need to finish it. The Chirashi deluxe bowl was very good- I enjoyed every cut of fish we were given. The deluxe comes has the addition of unagi and salmon roe and maybe another fish. The unagi was totally worth it! Not too many sushi rolls to choose from, but they have all the basic ones you see everywhere, ie rainbow roll. We didn't like either of the rolls we chose. I always get california rolls, and this one barely had any filling at all. My husband always gets spicy tuna and didn't like that the flavoring- tasted too siracha to him. I have a big lunch party and was pleased to learn they will take orders the previous day and get them ready practically when they open for lunch. It was a $300+ order and they got everything right. Separated the cold and hot. Packed the Udon carefully. And offered utensils (I declined) instead of just put them in. All the foods were as good as I expect from this restaurant (I am a regular). I was particularly pleased with Futomaki and Spider rolls (we order 3!). They did not separate the soup from noodles for the Udon, as such, they don't keep long. All the fish was incredibly fresh, but the portion size was on the small side and the fish sliced very thinly. For $29, the Chirashi deluxe was reasonably priced. However, the uni was $20 for two pieces! No prices on the board so I only found out when I got the check. Had I known, I probably wouldn't have ordered it. It also wasn't that spectacular. I have been coming here for a few years. The restaurant is small, service is good and the sushi is very fresh. My latest trip, I ordered the teriyaki salmon and white albacore sashimi bento box. The salmon was a bit overcooked for me, but the sashimi was very good. I also ordered a pair of Sake nigiris. Those were so good, I forgot to take a picture of it. This is my second time here. I remembered liking this place the first time I went a long time ago. I just happened to be in the area, so I decided to give them another visit. We ordered a lot of food. Hamachi sashimi, seared sashimi special, volcano roll, and the sushi combo which included soup, salad, assorted tempura, an assortment of nigiri and sashimi, and tuna roll. All of the sushi were fresh and delicious. I especially enjoyed one of the seared items. It was either clam or scallop. Definitely will want that again! Usually this place is really good but I feel like I was given old fish and tamago during my recent visit. I ordered a chirashi bowl and the fish wasn't that bad but you can tell fresh vs the ones sitting in refrigeration. The place is crowded, stuffy and we were kept waiting although there were empty tables everywhere because the chefs were too busy. We visited on a Tuesday night the week of Christmas Eve and it was busy. There was plenty of parking and we got seated right away. For the appetizer we got the Tatsuta-Age. It's fried chicken which is juicy, and perfectly savory and delicious with a touch of lemon from the slice it came with. It was the perfect texture and flavor (the chicken was tender and the lime paired so nicely with the fried flavor) The spider roll had nice huge portion sushi pieces of fried tempura with avocado. I enjoy it every time. My absolute favorite is still the dragon roll because of the sweetness of the eel on top and savoriness of the shrimp and the acidity of the soy sauce gives it that umami amazingness. We tried a new roll called the shrimp crunch. It was shrimp tempura with more tempura on top. The acidity from the soy sauce paired very nicely with all the sushi and fried yumminess of the tempura! Service: Every time I've been here, the staff has been super nice. With my most recent trip for takeout, they were friendly, quick, and accommodating. Miscellaneous: I looked at the reviews recently before placing my takeout order and laughed a bit. I saw something about a language barrier when talking on the phone. This restaurant has Japanese and Korean workers. That's typically what you want at a Japanese restaurant, so language barrier shouldn't be a complaint. I've also never had an issue understanding the staff here. I saw complaints about the service. As a small business, this restaurant is quite small and quaint. Pre-covid, there were about 7 tables inside and the sushi bar. With a restaurant that small, that means that there aren't a huge number of waiters, waitresses, and sushi chefs. That means the food will come out a little slower. Sushi is not a rushed meal. It takes training to become a sushi chef as it is an art as well. If super fast service is what you're looking for, then fast food is probably your best bet over sushi. read more

I can't believe that after all the years I've been coming here, I haven't written a review for this place. In a few words, my family and I love this place. At least in our area, it is the last bastion of a truly Japanese-run sushi joint. The sushi is excellent, but they make the best hamachi kama (yellowtail collar) which I order every time I come here! It is grilled to perfection. The staff is attentitve and friendly, and the sushi chefs rock! My wife and I prefer to sit at the sushi bar and it's great to converse with the chefs. As for the dining room and outdoor patio, they're nothing special. But we don't come here for the furniture or decorations. That said, it's not a dump and it's very neat and clean as one would expect from a Japanse restaurant. They always have specials on their board and it's always worth taking a look, especially if they have toro. Yes, it's a pricey fish, but SO worth it. As for the cost of the food, it's not out of line with other sushi places in the area. Sushi ain't cheap, nor should it be if top-quality ingredients are used. read more
