    Ten Zaru Soba

Food and service was excellent! The obasans and ojisan were very welcoming. The ambience was quiet but peaceful in such a busy area of cupertino. The food was very fresh and yummy. Ten Zaru is perfect for a hot day! This will now be one of my go to spots! ごちそうさまでした!!

Came here with my dad and we got seated really quickly! Good: - I got a udon and I thought it was a good portion size - The tempura was really nice add - I liked how it was super crispy and added a good amount of flavor - The food came out pretty quickly! - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute place to go for a catch up[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bad: - The udon wasn't super unique, a bit bland and I wouldn't have it again - A bit on the pricier side for just 2 dishes Overall this was a nice place to stop by and try since I pass by it a lot.

    Chirashi Special Lunch

This was the best quality fish I've had in the Bay Area and the pricing is very reasonable. I'm allergic to shellfish and they were very accommodating to make a chirashi I could eat. I absolutely loved this lunch with my mom and we got the gyoza as well. The staff were sweet and service was great.

Chef preparing my Nigiri Special Lunch togo plus Kani and Amaebi. With cold Draft Sapporo hits the spot every time when I dine in.

Fresh Nigiri Sake(Salmon) is always fresh and sweet. Ebi always fresh crisp and large Amaebi with crispy head freshly fried. Paired well with sweet cold Sake drink or cold draft beer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a peace outdoor setting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

first time to sushi kuni and upon walking in there is no sense of direction! only two waitresses here and there is no direction as to walk ins or to go orders the waitresses sat those that walked in first and avoided us who wanted to place an order to go so here we are ordering on the app at the bar which totally could have been avoided had anyone decided to assist us after sitting two more parties the deciding factor is to see if the food is even good , so far the service is lacking [[HIGHLIGHT]]ambiance is a sushi bar with seats inside there is no first come first served here![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My family and I have been coming here for a while. It is one of the better quality Japanese restaurants out there. Very small shop but the servers are so sweet and they serve great quality seafood. I particularly like their oysters, they put some sort of topping and sauce on them that makes it unique and taste so good. Their toro is also very yummy. Nice and fatty and melts in your mouth. We also love getting their appetizers and cold udon as part of our meal. Would recommend even for take out to eat at home! We picked up food around 6:30pm and we had to wait a little for the food to be ready but we also ordered a lot of food.

    Chirashi Deluxe Lunch

I came here with my mom & a few of her friends for lunch. It's a cute hole in the wall that's clean and has very traditional Japanese decor, which I loved!! There's a good variety of dishes here, my group opted to order salmon teriyaki and beef teriyaki lunch specials (with salad and miso soup), a chirashi deluxe bowl, salmon sashimi, salmon nigiri (two pieces), and a salmon deluxe roll to split amongst four people. For dessert, we got the specialty matcha creme brulee, which I was very excited about! The food here is decent. The beef in the beef teriyaki is a bit tough, salmon teriyaki had a good texture to it. The chirashi bowl came with a good variety of fish & some tamagoyaki! I had no complaints about my salmon sashimi, it was very delicious and not too "fishy". The salmon nigiri comes with a bit of wasabi on top of the rice and below the salmon, so if you're not a fan of wasabi (I'm not) make sure to tell them you can go without it. The salmon deluxe rolls were good! Unfortunately, the matcha creme brulee was a little more hyped up in my mind. The matcha flavor wasn't too strong and the brulee wasn't as custardy as I would've hoped! It was a bit cakey/thick. Overall, pretty good meal and the service was nice. The waitress was sweet, and they pass by pretty often just since it's a small establishment so it's easy to get their attention. Overall, I'd come here again. Convenient location on De Anza & good Japanese food makes for a great combination!

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a decent experience. Parking is available in the private lot or on the nearby residential streets. Dining is available indoors in the air conditioned dining room or on the patio with umbrellas. Their whiteboard have a ton of specials which are worth checking out. Started off with the eggplant agedashi and this was lightly fried fresh eggplant in a bed of light soy sauce dopped with some grated radish and green onions. Moved on to the grilled chicken wings from the whiteboard and they were fantastic. Super fresh chicken wings and grilled to perfection while being juicy! The dragon roll was pretty decent with shrimp tempura on the inside, avocado and eel on the outside. The gyoza and tempura bento box was huge and came with a side of miso soup, salad, and rice. The tempura was decently fried and the highlight was the homemade gyoza which was freshly pan-fried. ~$33/head after tax and gratuity for lunch with plenty of leftovers.

Fish portion of the Special Dinner - delicious!

I had a wonderful meal here -- they're quick, the fish is fresh and delicious, and the service is great. What more could you ask for? I came in late, sat at the chef's counter and ordered the Special Dinner. It was huge. The miso and salad were the perfect starters -- both delicious. Then came the large fish plate with both sashimi and nigiri. All of it was incredible! This is how sushi is supposed to taste. The tempura was also good, but I don't usually eat fried food, so I couldn't finish it all. It's a quaint space, but the decor makes you feel like you're exactly where you're supposed to be. Do yourself a favor and give them a try if you haven't already, or go here again. Get the sushi - you won't be disappointed.

    Special Dinner and Volcano roll
    Dave D.

The place is cute but understated. The decor is sort of classic for a sushi restaurant which isn't a bad thing. There was almost nobody else there on a Thursday evening. The service was friendly and fast, maybe too fast. The food was mediocre at best. The tempura was hot but somewhat tasteless. The shrimp in the tempura had a weird chewy consistency and some of the vegetables were total mush. The sushi and sashimi that came with the special dinner was just not special. Cheap rice mixed with low-grade seafood does not pair well. All of the fish had a weird metallic "I was frozen for a loooong time" flavor. The sushi rice seemed to be missing any ingredients besides water. The volcano roll was actually decent, probably the best thing we ordered. It was today's special roll but I probably won't go back to find out if they keep it on the menu.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked how Sushi Kuni had a cute, traditional vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I enjoyed the service and ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor seating was great, with umbrellas and a cute little patio area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I like that there are a lot of affordable options on the menu. Some of the rolls do go up to $20 prices, but there were also $9 rolls. We were looking for a little snack, and ordering two of the cheaper rolls was perfect for us. The fish was fresh and soft. I'd love to try more of the fancy rolls and dishes in the future!

The restaurant is dishonest. They didn't tell us how much tip they would charge before we start ordering. Instead, the owner/waitress simply put down the tip amount, which is 20% on top of tax?!, directly on the signature receipt afterwards. Those hand-written numbers are not mine. I wonder if this is even legal. Super bad experience, we felt that we were totally ripped off. Will never go there again. Folks, be careful they would dictate how much you need to tip for you!

On a hot, summer night, eating in the back patio and enjoying a pint of beer with some friends is a chill social night out. And if I want to get my fix of BBQ, sometimes Gyu-Kaku is the place for me hit up. This location currently has a promotion going on for their AYCE menu which is available on weekdays and lunch time on weekends. They also have a lunch menu available on weekdays! My husband and I tried their Premium AYCE menu which included 45 items consisting of an array of sides and main meat options. Today, we were served by our waiter, Choi, who -- although busy on his feet --was very swift at taking our orders and communicating information to us! Everything tasted as expected: flavorful and delicious! Each meat comes with its own marinade, ensuring that each bite offers something mouthwatering for your tastebuds. I really enjoyed the Sweet Soy Tare Toro Beef & the Miso Yaki-Shabu Beef. Out of all of the sides we tried, I must strongly recommend you get the Spicy Addicting Cucumbers!!! I know the AYCE menu is nothing particularly new for Gyu-Kaku, but it has slowly trickled through the different branches over time. This will be another reason why we end up going back here! That and the Spicy Addicting Cucumbers. Check out their menu. Consider a reservation on busy days!

I got the Kiwami Vegan extra spicy and my friend got the Kiwami Tonkotsu spicy (adding spice costs 50c more) and we received our food after 20 minutes. Kiwami Vegan (5/5): This was delicious! The curry broth and the plant based meat were well seasoned and the yuzu gave the dish a nice citrus kick. I love spicy food and usually feel like ramen is not spicy enough, but this was the perfect level. Noodles were tasty and there was a good noodle to soup ratio. My friend gave the Kiwami Tonkotsu a 4/5 and said it could be a bit more flavorful. She tried some of my Kiwami Vegan and said she would order that next time instead Overall, amazing vegan ramen! Being a broth lover, I can assess the authenticity of a ramen place by tonkotsu broth. And this place really does an excellent job in delivering a savory fatty bowl of tonkotsu ramen. I also added duck breast to mine. $6 for 4 pieces of duck breast is actually no bad of a deal, especially considering the quality of the duck breast slices. They were not super thick, but got enough bite in there for you to enjoy the texture of the duck meat. It was not overdone and did not lead to a less than desired rough sandy texture. Rather, it was possibly slightly undercooked. The skin was intact and the fattiness from duck skin just brought so much joy to every bite. I savored every bit of that in silence. Service was good, servers were attentive enough. Make sure to go in and put your name down on the tablet device. Do not wait outside "in a line" cuz they only call people by the tablet.

We usually go to Tanto, which is owned by the same group, so it was exciting to try Gochi's fusion-style dishes and explore a different side of their cooking. A big highlight of our visit was our server, Samira. She was incredibly competent, friendly, and attentive. She knew the menu inside and out and could explain exactly what was in each dish, including how many pieces came with each order. Her recommendations were thoughtful -- instead of encouraging us to over-order, she suggested ordering a few dishes first and then adding more depending on how we felt. The parking lot isn't massive, but finding a spot isn't difficult, if my experience is anything to go by. Solo and duo diners are usually seated at normal tables, but large parties have the option of sitting in shoes-off washitsu rooms with tatami mats. The menu is very large, with specific sections condensing their vegetarian & gluten-free offerings. You get a paper menu detailing their specials, and the rest of the menu is accessed through a QR code (which I am personally not a fan of). True to its self-identification as a Japanese fusion tapas spot, the menu ranges from sashimi to soba to risotto korokke to pizza and so on. I recommend eating family-style with a group, as portion sizes are definitely tapas-sized, and trying a little bit of a lot is the best way to experience what Gochi has to offer. Though the atmosphere is great for a date night, the two-seater tables are set up very close to each other, so there won't be much privacy. Most of the dishes I found to be good, but perhaps not exceedingly impressive. The yuzu ceviche was stellar, with fresh fish and a strong citrus flavor, but the accompanying potato chips were a little thick and lacking salt. The sashimi was beautifully presented and fresh, but the pieces were a little smaller than I had expected. The risotto korokke was alright as well; the sauce was great, but the risotto inside was a little bland. Overall, I thought this to be a decently enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is great, the service is good, and the food is varied and interesting. The dishes range from being pretty affordable small dishes to a little too pricey to be worth what you get, so I'd definitely spend a little extra time perusing the menu. I will likely return to try some of the other items in the future.
