The items I tried were the chirashi deluxe, which came with a good variety of fish, approximately 12 pieces, as well as the combination dinner with beef teriyaki and tempura. The sushi is outstanding here - very fresh, melts in your mouth. Sushi rice could use a little more vinegar. The beef teriyaki was a little tough and overcooked but the tempura was fresh, large and had a good variety of shrimp and veggies. One downside though, as mentioned in a few other reviews, is they include the gratuity for you, however the gratuity is on the total bill (including the tax). Ridiculously overpriced, very disappointing experience. I ordered the uni, and the menu clearly stated 2 pieces per order, but the bill charged me for 2 separate orders. Why would I be charged twice when I ordered one item that already included two pieces? Even worse, the scallop sushi was listed as $9 on the menu, but somehow the bill charged $15. That is a significant price difference that was not clearly disclosed. When I asked the server about these charges, the server had very limited English communication skills and could not explain the pricing or charges clearly. Instead of resolving the issue, the whole situation became even more frustrating. Definitely not worth the price. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

There's a good variety of dishes here, my group opted to order salmon teriyaki and beef teriyaki lunch specials (with salad and miso soup), a chirashi deluxe bowl, salmon sashimi, salmon nigiri (two pieces), and a salmon deluxe roll to split amongst four people. For dessert, we got the specialty matcha creme brulee, which I was very excited about! The food here is decent. The beef in the beef teriyaki is a bit tough, salmon teriyaki had a good texture to it. The chirashi bowl came with a good variety of fish & some tamagoyaki! I had no complaints about my salmon sashimi, it was very delicious and not too "fishy". The salmon nigiri comes with a bit of wasabi on top of the rice and below the salmon, so if you're not a fan of wasabi (I'm not) make sure to tell them you can go without it. The salmon deluxe rolls were good! Unfortunately, the matcha creme brulee was a little more hyped up in my mind. The matcha flavor wasn't too strong and the brulee wasn't as custardy as I would've hoped! It was a bit cakey/thick. Overall, pretty good meal and the service was nice. Came by for lunch the other day and it was a decent experience. Parking is available in the private lot or on the nearby residential streets. Dining is available indoors in the air conditioned dining room or on the patio with umbrellas. Their whiteboard have a ton of specials which are worth checking out. Started off with the eggplant agedashi and this was lightly fried fresh eggplant in a bed of light soy sauce dopped with some grated radish and green onions. Moved on to the grilled chicken wings from the whiteboard and they were fantastic. Super fresh chicken wings and grilled to perfection while being juicy! The dragon roll was pretty decent with shrimp tempura on the inside, avocado and eel on the outside. The gyoza and tempura bento box was huge and came with a side of miso soup, salad, and rice. I came in late, sat at the chef's counter and ordered the Special Dinner. It was huge. The miso and salad were the perfect starters -- both delicious. Then came the large fish plate with both sashimi and nigiri. All of it was incredible! This is how sushi is supposed to taste. The tempura was also good, but I don't usually eat fried food, so I couldn't finish it all. It's a quaint space, but the decor makes you feel like you're exactly where you're supposed to be. We came here on a Friday night and the place was pretty empty at 6pm but filled up to 7pm. It is a really small space (the restaurant looks like a tiny house from the outside) I haven't been here in I think over a decade, so it's been here forever! We ordered the combo dinner where you get to pick two items and it comes with a salad and soup. I was very shocked that the two items were both humongous. We received a large plate of salmon terriyaki and chicken terriyaki- I almost wondered if the size was a mistake since the 2 item combo was $27 which was the same as if you only ordered one item.... Either way, it was some of the best salmon terriyaki we'd had recently. Normally I order it for my kiddos, but I find salmon terriyaki tends to be over-cooked, but this one was very tender and we all fought over it. Chicken wasn't bad, but we didn't feel the need to finish it. The Chirashi deluxe bowl was very good- I enjoyed every cut of fish we were given. The deluxe comes has the addition of unagi and salmon roe and maybe another fish. The unagi was totally worth it! Not too many sushi rolls to choose from, but they have all the basic ones you see everywhere, ie rainbow roll. We didn't like either of the rolls we chose. I always get california rolls, and this one barely had any filling at all. My husband always gets spicy tuna and didn't like that the flavoring- tasted too siracha to him. The shrimp in the tempura had a weird chewy consistency and some of the vegetables were total mush. The sushi and sashimi that came with the special dinner was just not special. Cheap rice mixed with low-grade seafood does not pair well. All of the fish had a weird metallic "I was frozen for a loooong time" flavor. The sushi rice seemed to be missing any ingredients besides water. The volcano roll was actually decent, probably the best thing we ordered. I have a big lunch party and was pleased to learn they will take orders the previous day and get them ready practically when they open for lunch. It was a $300+ order and they got everything right. Separated the cold and hot. Packed the Udon carefully. And offered utensils (I declined) instead of just put them in. All the foods were as good as I expect from this restaurant (I am a regular). I was particularly pleased with Futomaki and Spider rolls (we order 3!). They did not separate the soup from noodles for the Udon, as such, they don't keep long. However, the uni was $20 for two pieces! No prices on the board so I only found out when I got the check. Had I known, I probably wouldn't have ordered it. It also wasn't that spectacular. I have been coming here for a few years. The restaurant is small, service is good and the sushi is very fresh. My latest trip, I ordered the teriyaki salmon and white albacore sashimi bento box. The salmon was a bit overcooked for me, but the sashimi was very good. I also ordered a pair of Sake nigiris. Those were so good, I forgot to take a picture of it. Usually this place is really good but I feel like I was given old fish and tamago during my recent visit. I ordered a chirashi bowl and the fish wasn't that bad but you can tell fresh vs the ones sitting in refrigeration. I didn't complain or say anything about the fish but I did mention the tamago and instead of giving me a new one they said it's made fresh and there's nothing wrong with it. This restaurant has Japanese and Korean workers. That's typically what you want at a Japanese restaurant, so language barrier shouldn't be a complaint. I've also never had an issue understanding the staff here. I saw complaints about the service. As a small business, this restaurant is quite small and quaint. Pre-covid, there were about 7 tables inside and the sushi bar. With a restaurant that small, that means that there aren't a huge number of waiters, waitresses, and sushi chefs. That means the food will come out a little slower. Sushi is not a rushed meal. It takes training to become a sushi chef as it is an art as well. If super fast service is what you're looking for, then fast food is probably your best bet over sushi. read more
