Needed a quick bite to eat after being in the area all day and decided to finally give Sushi Cho a try. The place is small and inviting. Parking can be busy on a weekend but I lucked up and found one immediately. I was greeted and seated immediately. Everyone on the staff from the host to the server to the sushi chef were absolutely great. My server, Kevin, went above and beyond after I explained that I had some fatigue and needed a little help with the menu, especiallywith there being 100 specialty rolls. He recommended the Mafia Roll and it was sooooo good and filling! A lot bigger than I expected it to be but that was a good thing! I loved the presentation and the sushi was so fresh! I also ordered a house salad and a hand roll to hold me over. The hand roll was massive and absolutely delish! I experienced them for the first time in L A. and have been looking for ones just as good here in the area and this one was the best I've found thus far! I even got to sample the miso soup, which was perfect. I will definitely be making the drive from home to patronize them again! This was a great experience and I see why they are held with such high regard. Definitely worth a visit if you are looking for fresh sushi and massive hand rolls!
Service was fast and pleasant. We also got complimentary red bean ice cream which was delicious. The rolls were decent and had a lot of flavors going on, but not sure if they all went together. Pretty pricey specialty rolls. There is a normal sushi menu too but you have to ask for it. The karage chicken was disappointing and was mostly breading and hardly any meat and a very small portion.
Really excellent! You don't have to choose between a sushi restaurant with good quality or fun rolls. This place has both. The quality is very good and the rolls are really well crafted. The rolls are filled generously and don't have too much rice. A must order is the crab wonton. It feels like one of those viral items because it's a show stopper. Atmosphere was warm and the staff was very friendly. The food came out very quickly. We definitely recommend this place and we would come back.
This is one of my go-to restaurants. I have been here time and time again and it is truly difficult to get sick of this place when there are 100 specialty rolls and so much more on the menu. The atmosphere in here is very warm and inviting. The staff has always been a delight and very attentive. To start, we are always given a bowl of miso soup and a side salad. I would recommend quite literally any and all of their rolls. We had to try their chicken katsu and salmon teriyaki for the picky eaters as well and it was delicious. So much flavor and exactly what we were looking for when ordering those items. Needless to say, I will be back time and time again
Small spot that offers some fun twists on classic Japanese dishes, including sushi tacos & 100+ types of sushi rolls that include things such as fried bananas and calamari Complimentary tea & miso soup Even though some of the dishes here are quirky, the quality of the food is actually very high and the portions are large. The downside, as mentioned previously, is that the place is very small. My fiance and I practically shared a table with another party. There was only one small divider between us. All of the seats were fairly uncomfortable as well
If you're ever looking for a different twist on sushi, Sushi Cho is the place to go! They have a variety of different types of sushi and sushi rolls. It's honestly hard to pick cause they all look good! We tried a few things - the seared salmon belly, lady killer roll and a few others that were great. The seared salmon belly is probably my favorite. Service is great too every time I've gone!
Loved this place! We called in advance to make a reservation and were placed in a nice area behind these walls. Staff were attentive, food was worth the price and filling, and such a great time! Their bathroom was nice too. Hot stuff roll - I was super surprised with how much I enjoyed their roll with its mozzarella and the coconut like bits. Would recommend for a crispy, cheesy roll. My favourite roll of the night; 5/5. Christmas - Tasted good but nothing special in my opinion; 3.5/5. Seared Salmon Belly - complimentary dish we got at the end. Everything tasted so great with the seared flavour, the buttery fish, and the lemon juice on the bottom; 5/5! Everything else was solid too: Lychee J-Pop beer, miso soup, salad were 4/5. Have to come again for special rolls!

Interesting place. The wood choice and color theme remind me of Japan. It's run by Koreans, though. The staff is friendly and attentive. The decoration works. The takoyaki was quite good. The bonito flakes were rather too much. The taste was amazing, though. Be sure to give it some time to cool down or take smaller bites. I'm always eager to pop the entire takoyaki ball as soon as it comes, and always regret burning my tongue. Yet, I keep doing it. I came with a friend and went for the sashimi bowl for two. It was a mixed experience for a mixed bowl. Some fish I liked, some not so much. I will probably stick to the ones I like next time. This isn't any fault of the restaurant. I tried something I hadn't had before and found out what I didn't like. From my experience, it's hard to go wrong with basic sashimi like salmon, tuna, fatty tuna, etc., but some special fish, scallops, uni, etc., are hard to get right unless you're at an expensive omakase restaurant. We were given two special rolls on the house with a fiery display, which was cool.
Absolutely one of the best value to taste and quality ratio. All of this plus additional free times for ~$250 with tip! Visited family and friends while traveling for work. Found this gem and for what it is, I'd place it in my top 3 sushi restaurants. Quality and taste is absolutely superb. Fresh, thick pieces of fish and a hefty portion! Perfectly pairs with sake or beer with a group of friends. Service was top tier - attentive and professional staff. Ambiance is nice and cozy with subtle background noise while you're still able to talk intimately. 5 stars and I highly recommend!
Had a delectable meal, starting wit TNT mussels and Hama Wasa "sushi taco" (aka a hand roll). I then had the Triple Threat roll, and Bae got the Seafood and California rolls (he's less "adventurous" than I am). When we were wrapping up, Chef sent over this incredible yellowtail, topped with guac and coconut flakes - and it was set ablaze tableside . 10/10 no notes. I live in Maryland, but the service and incredible freshness and variety and ambiance of Sushi Cho make the drive out to Vienna totally worth it.
My mom and her friends frequent here quite Often after their weekly walking get together. She always raves about the excellent service by the owners and the delicious food. I was visiting from San Francisco and wanted to treat them Lunch so of course this was their choice! My Mom loves the hamachi Don , the aunties ordered their regular chirashi bowl and my aunt decided to be adventurous and order something different and ordered the teriyaki salmon bento. I ordered the Hwe Dup Bap- i loved that it came with side of the gochujang so one can decide how themselves as to how much they want on their dish. The rice was also on the side. There was plenty of sashimi on top of super fresh chopped lettuce. The hamachi bowl had beautiful strips of ample portion hamachi - looked so buttery and it was great. The only comment I heard from them was that the rice was not as good as the last time and that it needed more sushinoko. The salad that comes out before the meals super fresh but barely had enough dressing on it. The staff was quick to bring us more dressing upon request. We ordered a vegetable and shrimp tempura - the oil to fry the tempura could've been cleaner but it still was good. Plenty of shrimp for all and vegetables. The bento was plentiful although the salmon was a bit over cooked so dry but still enjoyed the meal. The chirashi was great with again their comment about the rice. As a first timerI thought the meals were excellent especially my hwe dup bap. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Love the bonus service flaming sushi as well. Everyone finished their plates - I was the only one who had some left to take home the ambiance was casual and very clean. read more
Fantastic option for sushi and sashimi! I've already been here twice and both times were delightful. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they helped point out the different fish and gave us complimentary sushi (I'm unsure why but I appreciated the gesture). We ordered a tuna rose and the piece was thick and so fresh, it melted in my mouth. I loved the savory sauce and the presentation. Very pretty! Definitely my favorite thing I ate. The whole menu has a lot of variety (they have the standard rolls, udon, tempura, and sashimi). Very easy to drop a hundred bucks here. Dinner time is when the crowd comes and it really picks up, I arrived at 7PM and got seated an hour later. Lunchtime had no wait at all, my friends and I got seated immediately when we came at noon. I think they take reservations on the phone as well. The staff was super attentive and friendly! Our waters were constantly being filled up. He talked to us about the menu and made conversation about what we liked and then gave us seared salmon belly on the house because it was "very pretty." The restaurant itself is very cozy, it has wooden tables and wood accent in a minimal manner. My friends and I enjoyed dining here and we'd definitely come back to try the other options, they have over 100 different rolls and we'd love to explore more of the menu! read more

Literally the best sushi I've had! We ordered 5 different rolls and was way more than we could finish but was absolutely delicious The service here is amazing! It's a small restaurant but it is well worth the wait! We brought our leftover sushi home and it was still amazingly good the next day which is rare for sushi! Can't wait for this to be our new regular sushi spot! read more

Yummmmm. My gf took me here for my birthday and I'm so happy that we finally got to try it after talking about it for so long. The inside is very small and so it does fill up quickly. The parking around the area really sucks when it is during prime hours. They seated us at the bar where it was just the two of us which was very nice. The service was awesome, they tended to us often and kept asking us if everything was good. All of the staff members are kind. As for the food, I definitely recommend the Sashimi for 2, all of the cuts we got were excellent! Sooo delicious. I think the cuts they give you is chef's choice, so it won't always be the same. The seared salmon belly was yummy. The Flying Dragon Roll was decent and the Salmon Lovers roll was okay, but I would probably try something different next time. I really liked the green tea ice cream to top it all of. I can't wait 'til the next time we come back! read more

One of the best sushi spots in nova! The fish here is high quality and the rolls have a good ratio of rice to ingredients. The menu is expansive with 100 different specialty rolls to choose from. We got four to try out and each one was unique and delicious. The service was good and even offered us a free salmon that was lit on fire. Although, it seems like every guest got this free dish. I would definitely come here again to try out the many other options on the menu. read more

5 STARS!! This place has exceeded expectations. The ambiance was very chic and the staff were very welcoming. It was a great balance between an affordable and upscale experience. The nigiri portions are HUGE I had to eat the salmon in two bites- so worth the price! The best hands down was the Unagi! The texture and taste was the best I've had and I am still thinking about it. They were sadly sold out of Toro :( so I'm very excited to come back and try! The seared salmon belly appetizer was a fun experience (they torch it on fire!) but a bit of an alcohol aftertaste on some pieces afterwards which I didn't love. We also got two hand rolls, which were great and so filling! Tl:dr: MUST TRY! SO SATISFYING! READY TO COME BACK! read more

Best seared salmon belly hands down. The presentation is great and the flavor is very good. I usually don't crave something like this but I had to come back for it. The other rolls were also very good. I'd love to try other dishes there when I get the chance. They don't seem to take reservation (or maybe it's because we only had 4 people in our party) but you can call ahead to be added to the waitlist. The restaurant itself is not very big but it's nice and clean. One annoying thing is the parking. The parking strip is usually completely full around dinner time and there's not a lot of space to maneuver between cars to find parking. I think you can park by the urgent care at the end of the strip, however. I'd recommend folks to try this place, especially the seared salmon. read more
Solid sushi spot! We came for a date night on a Friday and had to wait 35-40 mins for a table. Unfortunately no reservations here. We ordered the 32 piece Nigiri Sashimi and roll combo for two people as well as takoyaki and sake. I enjoyed the Dasai 45 Sake we ordered. This is a great spot if you like specialty rolls as they have a massive selection of options. Presentation was gorgeous even on a busy night. It's not the best sushi I've ever had but everything is fresh and it's great for the price. I'd like to come back for the lunch specials sometime. read more

Probably one of the best tasting and freshest sushi spots that I've been to in the area. I got the sashimi deluxe while my girlfriend got the Treasure Box. Both had a beautiful presentation and the fish tasted fresh (something that is hard to find in the area without costing an arm and a leg); the treasure box even had gold leaf in it! The server pointed out each of the cuts on our plates which was very helpful. At the end once we were finished, we were gifted with, not one, but TWO complimentary dishes: one was a delicious fatty tuna roll (I wish I remembered the name because I would order it next time) and the other was a mochi dessert. Hands down, I think this has been one of the best sushi experiences in the Fairfax area. The food was delicious and tasted fresh, the service was incredible, and it just had a much more genuine Japanese feel and aesthetic in the restaurant itself. I highly highly recommend Sushi Cho and we will definitely be coming back in the future! read more

I personally had high hopes for this sushi establishment, but as sometimes Yelp does, it misleads you with reviews from uneducated and inexperienced diners. First off, the service and decor are top notch. This is not a reflection of those two aspects of the business, I am strictly rating this on the quality of the sushi. As a point of reference, I have been to 33 Michelin starred restaurants so I am basing my knowledge of sushi and speaking with sushi chefs regarding this review. This sushi very much reminds me of Yuraku in Maryland, and it quite possibly may be from that type of lineage. Sushi requires balance of the neta and shari as well as careful seasoning and forming of the shari. Unfortunately, this establishment misses the mark on both. I understand the concept of generosity with the neta and also some complimentary items we received from the chef but true edomae sushi requires a balance between the neta and shari. One cannot empower the other in terms of volume. As any sushi enthusiast knows, the most important aspect of the nigiri is the shari. It must be seasoned, ideally with akazu and a bit of sugar and salt. The ratio of these three seasonings can vary wildly between each sushi chef but the majority of the seasoning must come from the vinegar. This shari did not have any particular strong seasoning (almost bland), there was no even disbursement of the rice grains while eating the nigiri (meaning the rice was too sticky and pressed too firmly), and it was served slightly cold. I understand that there are limitations with the temperature of the rice as all the pieces of nigiri were presented at the same time. I really hope the chef has a chance to dine at Sushi Noz or Sushi Sho, where one can witness true edomae sushi mastery. There must be standards upheld with sushi even at the lower price points. Everything I mentioned above can be changed with negligible additional costs, it is just a matter of perspective and how seriously the chef approaches his craft. read more

Fresh sushi, great service, nice and clean environment! We came on a Sunday afternoon and were immediately sat. We were initially overwhelmed with the number of different maki rolls (100+), but finally decided on the Osaka Triangle and Mafia. The rolls were huge and we appreciated how much fish was in each roll. The seared salmon belly and tuna nachos were also delicious. We will definitely return in the future. read more

Such a good place! They literally have 100 different rolls to choose from. My favorite was dish was the salmon belly that they torch. The flame lightly sears the fish so that the texture and taste is amazing. The chef even sent over complementary spicy tuna to try. I think we'll need to order a full portion on our next visit because it was really good. I'd love to come back and try more rolls. Price-wise, it's about average for a good sushi restaurant. We really liked the atmosphere and the service was great. read more

Wait time: There is a phone number on their site, but I couldn't get through so I'm not sure on RSVPing in advance. Dinner time is def busy. When I arrived, I had to put a name down and wait outside of the store. I would say it was about a 1 hr wait. I wish they had a texting method so we wouldn't have to stand outside for name to be called. Parking: Spaces can be tough during busy dinner hours - especially on weekends Quality: Food was AMAZING! Gosh, there were over 100 specialty rolls to choose from. There is an a la carte menu if you'd like to order from that as well. Fish was super fresh and everything was made as quick as possible. The Uni (from Japan) was one of the best ones I've had. Chef Josh was kind enough to give us the seared hamachi, which I honestly think should be on the menu itself because I'd order that again and I'm sure others would too especially with the mini flame action that goes on lol. But it was very tasty and the flavors blend so well without overpowering it while still tasting the freshness of the yellowtail. Quantity: sushi pieces were HUGE! lol We definitely ordered with our eyes and underestimated the roll sizes. GREAT bang for your buck though! Cute date spot! This might be our new favorite sushi restaurant in Fairfax. They have a very large selection specialty rolls, 100 to be exact. And various sashimi and nigiri bowls and combos. In addition to the various appetizers, kitchen specials and udon. We went on Saturday afternoon before dinner time and it was already relatively busy. The service was great and the servers were attentive. The interior was bright and modern. We got a bit too much food for 2 but worth it. Kani Salad - tasty and light. The cucumber had a great texture. Sear Salmon belly - the highlight of the meal. It 's torch at the table and overall a delicious bite. Chirashi Bowl - The sashimi was very fresh and great quality. The fish cuts were also generous. Nabe Udon - served in a cool bowl that gave a nice presentation. The udon noodles were a nice texture. And the hot broth was light and great balance to the sushi. Special Rolls: Frying Dragon Roll & Maui Salmon - both rolls were delicious and a good thickness of salmon and eel on the rolls. Overall a great experience on top of the high quality and delicious sushi. Definitely be back again. read more

I went to Sushi Cho with friends for dinner, and it was an incredible experience. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable about the menu. There are 100 different speciality rolls, chef's platter options, and entrees available as well. We came during the dinner rush and were seated within 5 to 10 minutes of arrival. The interior was well maintained and stylish, matching the holiday season! We ordered several sushi rolls including Christmas, Lady Killer, Salmon Ninja, Scorpion, What A Match. The portions were more than enough for four people. Sushi Cho is definitely my new favorite sushi restaurant in the DMV. The quality and quantity of the rolls beats out any other restaurant. read more
Came here for the first time and we were fortunate that they had a table available. I recommend calling ahead if you can, the spot is smaller but really intimate. The service was amazing, and everyone was super friendly. They accommodated our questions and didn't hesitate to help us when we asked. They were extremely attentive which we appreciated. We assumed the tables were too small because of all the food but the timing of our food was perfection that the table size made sense. You can tell a lot of thought was taken into this place. Now the food, wow. It was delicious, by far the best sushi I had in the DMV area. Every piece was fresh, I was devouring the wasabi itself cause it was so good. The sushi had such a fresh taste and flavors were immaculate. We had a mix of rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. The rice to fish ratio was perfect, and after leaving here we would immediately talked about coming back and introducing our friends to the restaurant. This is the second time I have been back to Sushi Cho and left once again satisfied!! I kept recommending this place to my friends & fam afterwards but I swear I don't get any commission from them LOL the service was excellent and their rolls were so creative & beautiful my favorite is probably anything salmon. The dynamite roll I ordered last time is prob my favorite. It's a fairly small place so you do sit pretty close to the other tables. That doesn't bother tho. read more

Returned for a dine-in experience and it was significantly better than when we ordered take out. The salmon belly appetizer that we ordered melted in my mouth and was also fun to see the dish lit on fire. The sashimi + sushi set was delicious, fresh, and high quality. Huge portions as well - I was very full at the end of the meal. There was also free salmon seaweed wraps served to us at the end of the meal which we appreciated. Delicious and the service was kind and friendly as well! read more
Really delicious and fresh fish used here! I like the new sushi taco concept they've brought that i've seen in places like New York but this is the first place I've been to in Nova that does it. Very fun and good amount of fish still! I ordered the double s and crunch shrimp for myself and thoroughly enjoyed both, and to finish off my appetite I had the vegetable tempura as well. Their tempura batter is very light and I enjoyed the variety of veggies that were used. Service was pretty slow, not a lot of servers working and a busy restaurant. It took ~20-25 minutes to even get water, and it took awhile to get our bill paid as well. I understand a restaurant can get busy though, so just something to note. Overall though, a very great experience and I'd recommend people to come here :) read more

Ambiance: Clean space with a modern and minimalist vibe. Plenty of natural light. We called ahead for a party of 4 to put ourselves on the waitlist, and were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival (5/5). Food: We ordered the 32 piece nigiri + sashimi + roll set, takoyaki, nabe udon, and ton katsu. After we ordered, our server immediately set us up with a miso soup and salad per person. The sushi here is excellent- the pieces taste very fresh and high quality and the fish slices are thick! My favorites in the combo were the fatty tuna and the sweet shrimp. And the accompanying spicy tuna roll was especially good!! There is a lot of tuna in the roll compared to other places and the flavor was on point. Takoyaki and katsu were great also. Katsu was really crispy. The nabe udon wasn't my favorite and the chicken inside was dry but other than that the food was amazing! (4/5). Service: Our server was awesome. My partner and I recently went to Sushi Cho for the first time and absolutely loved it - we couldn't believe we didn't try it sooner! When we got there it was a pretty long wait for a table - especially because a lot of people knew to call ahead of time to put their name on the waiting list. Definitely call ahead of time to put your name on the list before you head over! We started off with tuna nacho - it was a really fun dish that was a great starter. It was a pretty large appetizer with 4 large pieces so if you arent too hungry and only a party of two, it may be worth saving your stomach for the rolls. The sushi rolls were oh so good with quality fish that melted in our mouths. Every bite was a burst of flavor and we could tell that the ingredients were fresh and expertly prepared. We tried several different rolls and each one was better than the last. The service at Sushi Cho was great, with our server was covering a lot of tables but was still being attentive. We never felt rushed or ignored and they made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. Despite a long wait, it was well worth it for the quality of the food and service. Ultimately, Sushi Cho is an absolute gem in Fairfax and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious sushi and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The quality of the food, service, and experience make it well worth the wait and we can't wait to go back! read more

First off, sushi Cho has the best hwedap bhap in the DMV. If there is another place I should try please let me know as I've been to about every Korean restaurant in the area that sells this. The service, quality of fish, the minimal vibe of the restaurant... I am always so satisfied when dining here! I hope you guys stay around forever! read more
Very aesthetic Japanese restaurant in Fairfax! We got the crab calamari appetizer. It's okay. I probably should have read the menu better because I was expecting squid rings and crab calamari style. It's a deep fried roll calamari style. Kani Salad - It was good although I didn't taste/eat any mango and the menu says it has mango in it. Sashimi Deluxe - This was the highlight of our visit! Tasted sooo fresh! It was very good. Ton Katsu - It was good. We could use more rice on the plate tho. Overall, the place was okay. I would come back again and try their other dishes. The staff were very friendly. The restaurant looks very chic and clean. read more
Finally got to try Sushi Cho and I am really glad I did. Price is a little bit steeper then other spots, but I think it's fair to say that Sushi Cho probably is the best sushi spot in northern Virginia as of now. Freshness of the fish is A1 and service was excellent as well. My only complaint is that, I could be wrong but I didn't see a nigri menu where you can order two pieces of sushi at a time. I will definitely be returning and I hope that they keep the quality and the taste consistent. Everyone knows that's the problem with dmv restaurants in general are that, they are only good in the beginning and majority of the places falls off. read more
Wow wow wow. I've had this place bookmarked for a while at the recommendation of some friends and I'm so glad I finally got to try it. Sushi Cho is one of the great sushi restaurants of Nova. It's small, clean, and simple in decor. They get packed pretty quickly - I came on a Sunday night around 7pm and had a 20-30 minute wait. You can leave your phone number and they'll call/text you when the table is ready. The menu is large and has a variety of options to choose from. (Had to take notes on which rolls I wanted to try so I wouldn't lose count!) This time, I got the seared fatty salmon appetizer which is torched table side, and absolutely delicious. For rolls, I tried the salmon ninja (yum), dynamite (yum), and chunky monkey (yum). Our meal also came with complimentary miso soup and salad. Everything was superb and I can't wait to come back and try more rolls! (Dreaming about that fatty salmon tonight) read more
This place is a smaller than other places I've been, but the freshness and taste make up for the wait. The service was great and the waiters knownthe menu well so that they can make suggestions. We went during the week so the wait was only 15 minutes. The waiters were mindful of us and checked in on us throughout our meal. Sushi Cho is sushi perfection. Heavenly maki and nigiri and sashimi. It is worth the traffic and 2+ hour drive from RVA. The sushi is thick. THICCCC. and fresh. Not too cold or warm. Just right. The sushi rice is seasoned well. They use real wasabi, not the fake neon green stuff, Their service is impeccable. I have dined lunch and dinner, soft and hard opening. The food is always consistent. Their nutty salad dressing is so tasty. My mom is the worlds pickiest judgemental eater and she thoroughly enjoyed the fish here. I always feel so welcome here. They have Good food, Good service, and Good looking staff. :) I took spicy tuna rolls Togo so I can eat them while I'm sitting in traffic on my way back home. We've been coming here for a few years now. Always great food and quaint ambiance. Prices are consistent with a quality restaurant. Sushi is awesome and they have many unique speciality dishes. Presentation makes the experience even more enjoyable. Try the Tamatebako, a really cool treasure chest of sushi and other treats including eatable gold. read more

The sushi was fine but not my favorite. The specialty rolls are a little too weird for my liking. They didn't have many traditional options. read more

Love the freshness of the fish here! We have been for dinner and ordered multiple platters during the holidays. Today we tried lunch specials and everything was on point. We called to make same day reservations and we were seated promptly. Great lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday. Can't wait to return! read more

Fresh delicious 32 pcs combo plate. There was a good variety of fish and enough for two people. We had three people and so ordered the salmon lovers and mafia rolls. Clean and neat interior with good service. We'll definitely be back! read more
