Quick review; Above average sushi joint. Copy cat menu like they all done did. So here's a sushi joint that's like the other sushi joint. Same rolls, menu...The quality is decent though, and that's half the battle. Side note; we came here on a Sunday, which is no no for sushi...but the owner insisted they get fresh fish delivered on Sundays. Not that I believed him, but my sister wanted sushi so. Ok so we had a good mix of items from the menu. Shishito peppers where delicious. The grilled salmon collar was too. A couple of sashimi plates, yellow tail w garlic and jalapeno and the ahi in the picture...both where nice. I also ordered a lobster roll which was basically a tempura lobster rice roll situation. Meh I guess it was ok. My sister had a hand roll she liked and a salad she nixed. But overall sushi Dan does rock well. Recommend it for like 'work a day' sushi place. read more

Love this place! I swore I'd only ever eat sushi from Katsuya (Studio City), but a friend enlightened me to options. Sushi San is delicious and their fish is fresh (or at least tastes fresh...haha!). I asked the chef to substitute one fish for another in a roll special and he was very accommodating. I'll definitely be back here. UPDATE: Sushi Dan should NEVER "make" Friend calamari ever again in life. Don t order it. I honestly believe it's frozen out of a bag in the freezer aisle. Gross. Very good selections and fresh offers daily. Servers are attentive and efficient. Celebrated a friend's birthday here on a Friday night. Ordered some oyster shooters, All Star Roll, Crab Cake Roll, ebi (sweet shrimp sashimi & fried heads) & last but not least Crab hand rolls, soo amazing! The bill came out to $85 with two hot green teas. Pricey but worth it. They had lots of desserts to choose from but we didn't give in... Wish they did all you can eat here! Once again Amy was our server and while we were sitting down she approached the table and tried to take our order for drinks, we rushed and ordered something quickly. She came back with wrong order of drinks and asked if we are ready the food. We said give us few minutes and that was it, she disappeared. Respectfully, this was the worst sushi spot I've ever been to. The food was terrible! Both of sushi rolls we got were mushy & non flavorful. The baked salmon roll looked like a California roll stuffed with cream cheese and fish eggs on top. They also forgot to add the baked salmon in my initial order so I waited an extra 30 mins for it. The spicy garlic edamame was ok, not much garlic flavor to it. The seaweed salad was also ok, but it had tomatoes on it? The forbidden pleasure roll was a bit better than the baked salmon, but still nasty. The servers were nice but very unorganized & all over the place. Everyone seemed to be in a rush but it wasn't very busy. Their Thai milk tea tasted like condensed milk & regular milk mixed together, too sweet & wasn't very good. Make sure you keep your receipt after you dine here. A waitress or waiter will embellish on a tip as they have just done to me. Management will either protect them or pretend to be to busy to do something. The remedy for this action should not have been to give me what the waitress helped herself to. It should have been a full refund or at the very least a refund of my tip in full. I live on the westside, but was in the valley after the event and have a taste for sushi. This was my first time here, but it won't be my last time! Very good first experience, and what I love is that I visited on a Saturday and they had a 3-hour a happy hour when no. Who doesn't like a Saturday happy hour?! So of course my first instinct was to just order off of the happy hour menu, but when I saw the normal menu there were so many things I wanted to try. So I will definitely be back. Danny crazy roll was good flavorful about little bit too much right. The monkey firecracker was very good it has cream cheese and jalapeno with spicy tuna. Honestly I would choose between the Danny crazy roll or the monkey firecracker, but don't get both because they're too similar. We also started off with the spicy garlic edamame. I really like their version of edamame one because it wasn't as spicy, but it was so flavorful and hot! How many times you go to the sushi place and they bring you out warm edamame, which isn't bad but I didn't realize how much I appreciated smoking hot! We also order the Forbidden pleasure roll, and I really didn't like it. I felt like it was doing a little too much and too many of the flakes, it's a top seller but I didn't care for it. First time at Sushi Dans... Sushi was awesome- huge selection of rolls and sashimi, sake and beer. We got the Monster, Joker, Crispy Rice Tuna, and the Dragon- all were great! And presentation was beautiful ... wish the rolls were a little bigger but delish The waitress helped us with an extra selection too The environment was lively, a little loud with hard floor/ceiling, but made it fun for a Friday girls night out. Pretty good sushi bar in studio city! My wife and I absolutely loved the baked langostino roll. Absolutely delicious and a huge portion! My wife also had the bon bon roll just raves about it! Personally, I have been here twice and both times I ordered the How Dare You. Now on the surface, the description on the menu makes it sound like a pretty standard sushi roll, with a little non threatening sounding "hot sauce" tacked on at the end. Usually when a sushi place says hot or spicy, they mean sriracha, which we all know is no big deal. I don't know what they put in the hot sauce on the how dare you, but it is aggressive, and it doesn't quit. The spice is all up front; you know you're in trouble on the first bite! So be warned, unless you love hot food, avoid this roll. If you're up for the challenge though, it IS good! Just be sure to let them know to keep the drink refills coming! My one complaint with this place is not really their fault, but parking is a real pain in the butt. If you come during dinner time, you won't find a spot unless you get very lucky, so you'll probably need to park somewhere up the street and walk over. So to review. My hidden gem when I have a strong craving for sushi. Their fish is always fresh, a perfect amount in each roll and affordable. Love the outdoor sitting they setup recently. I recommend the bonbon roll especially if you love cream cheese in your rolls. I think they should just put cream cheese in all their rolls!!!!! Beef teriyaki combo was ordered & selected wings & vegetable tempura as sides. It did not include rice. So we paid for a side of rice. The plate was $20 it should include rice. Tempura was soggy.
