    Salmon hand roll
    Steph L.

First time dining in person and also brought my family along this time. Service was excellent on a busy Saturday night. The employees were so attentive and helpful. All of us got the 6 handroll option and 3-4 A-la-cart because it was so tasty. Some of my family members also got the sake which they stated was very smooth. It was cool to see them adjust the ambiance of the restaurant after the sun set by dimming the lights and adding candles. Perfect place for a family to eat or to go on a date. It won't necessarily break the bank, you can still get quality sushi, and the staff are so efficient the wait really wasn't that long. 5/5 toro hand roll was my favorite. They really used quality tuna for this roll and I ended up ordering a second one 5/5 salmon roll 5/5 the scallop. They used the large scallops chopped up, none of those tiny scallops other restaurants serve for scallop hand rolls. 3.5/5 lobster and crab roll mainly because I didn't like the mayo and I found several pieces of shell in my crab roll which is inevitable and also it's nice to know that it's fresh. They offered $4 valet parking given the small lot. I felt the service I received at this restaurant deserved the automatic 16% service fee. We waited around 20 minutes despite having a party of 5 since we had family visiting. The customer with a party of 4 behind us repeatedly commented on how inconvenient it was for my party to have 5 people. However the staff at Kazu nori were professional and kind. Overall the Kazu nori here was as good as the one I had near UCLA. Would definitely recommend this location to friends and family.

It was my first time trying KazuNori and I can see why it's so popular! I stopped by on a Saturday night and got lucky with a parking meter across the street, parking is free after 8pm. When we arrived there were about three parties ahead of us but the wait wasn't too bad. It is a small space with about 20-25 seats around the bar. I ordered the 5-Hand Roll set which included toro, yellowtail, scallop, crab, and lobster. My favorites were the yellowtail and lobster!

Great ambiance and the shared bar seating creates a fun sense of community. Prefer a table? Go to their sister restaurant Sugarfish.

KazuNori is hands down one of my favorite places to eat. I go about twice a week whenever I can. Even while pregnant I still occasionally indulge in one of their raw hand rolls because I trust the quality of their fish that much. After talking with the people who run the business and learning about where they source their fish, plus seeing the quality firsthand every time I visit, it's very clear they take their ingredients seriously. Yes, sometimes there's a line, but don't let that discourage you. They run the place incredibly efficiently. The staff does an amazing job of moving people in and out quickly while still making the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable, not rushed at all. Everyone working there is locked in and focused but also very friendly and helpful. You can tell the whole team cares about what they're doing. I highly recommend the 5 roll special. It's a great value and a perfect way to experience a variety of their hand rolls. They're also very accommodating and will let you swap out one of the rolls if you prefer something else, which I really appreciate. The ambiance is also great. During the day you can't really see it as much from photos, but at night it's a whole vibe. I also love how everyone sits together at the bar. It brings a sense of community that you don't get at most restaurants. If you're looking for more of a traditional table setting, you can always go to their sister restaurant Sugarfish. You can get a lot of the same items there plus even more options. Overall the quality is amazing and the prices are actually a little more affordable than a lot of the other hand roll spots I've tried in the area. Highly recommend.

    16-piece Set - 2 orders - both AMAZING!

My son placed our KazuNori order (he always finds the best things), and I jumped right in as his unofficial wingman. We got the 16-piece Lobster Set--Toro, Cucumber, Crab, and Lobster--plus a Split Cut Roll with Yellowtail. Everything was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. What really struck me was the bento-style presentation. With a Japanese mother, Japanese food and its sense of order, beauty, and intention were woven into my upbringing, so presentation has always held equal weight to flavor. KazuNori honors that beautifully. The order arrived neat, balanced, and thoughtfully arranged--exactly the feeling great Japanese food should evoke. Opening it felt genuinely joyful. Everything tasted clean, bright, and high quality. Condiments, utensils, details--nothing missing, nothing overlooked. It's the kind of sushi takeout you finish and immediately think, "Okay... should we order more?" Studio City has a lot of sushi options, but KazuNori already feels like a favorite.

I'd been hearing so much hype about this spot for years, so I had to check it out--and now I get it! I stopped in for lunch and was impressed by their super fresh handrolls at a very affordable price. I tried the Nozie (Omakase), which is basically chef's choice (6 rolls for $30). The staff mentioned it's usually consistent but can vary depending on which special fish the chef is excited about that day. I enjoyed every roll I tried with the lobster being my favorite. There was a bit of a hiccup during my visit--the system glitched, and after receiving our first roll, we sat for about 20 minutes before they came by to ask if we wanted the check. When we explained that we had only received one roll, the manager immediately apologized and made it right by offering us each a complimentary sashimi plate. The sashimi was fantastic: Salmon: My favorite! It came with a soy sauce that's richer and tastier than the standard sauce at the bar. Yellowtail: Also delicious, with a sweeter sauce. Pro tip: Order the salmon sashimi first, then save the sauce to dip your handrolls in--it's next level. Parking: Be prepared--parking is really tight, so plan ahead. Seating: The interior only has about 25 bar stools, so it's definitely not ideal for large groups. Overall, I'd definitely come back for lunch. For dinner, I might avoid it due to the limited seating and tough parking, as I imagine it gets packed quickly.

To be honest, I was pretty disappointed with KazuNori. After all the hype and years of hearing about it, finally trying it fell really short. Nothing about the experience felt particularly authentic, the seaweed was mediocre, the fish was just okay, and most of the hand rolls ranged from disappointing to decent at best. There wasn't a single roll that really stood out or wowed us. We actually left saying we wouldn't come back, which is rare for us. Honestly, one of the least impressive hand roll spots we've tried. The one highlight was the service, the staff were attentive and friendly throughout. * i don't recommend ordering the albacore sashimi, the sesame sauce is great, but absolutely does not go with the sashimi.

My first time at KazuNori, I'm so glad I was finally able to cross it off of my list! Came here on a Friday evening, thank goodness I got here a little early (around 5:45p) and was seated right away, because it started to get really crowded with lines out the door by 6:30p). Get here early if you can! I may be small but I can eat! I ordered one 6 handroll set, and then another Nozawa's 6-hand roll set, which is more like a "omakase" handroll. They wouldn't tell me what the Nozawa set entailed, but let's just say that the next time I come back, I'll just stick to my 6 handroll set. The Nozawa set included the toro and lobster hand rolls, and also had sea beam, a Japanese potato (which I did not enjoy) and another one which I did not enjoy the texture. So, if you're feeling adventurous on your palate, then I'd say go for it. The rolls also come out one-by-one, so you have to be patient for your next one to come out. I can imagine this can get frustrating, especially when you're hungry and it's a busy night! The restaurant is small and intimate, with bar seating only. Service is friendly and attentive. Because it's a small space, staff really take care of you. Worth a visit! I'll be back :)

A lovely little spot for hand rolls. I love every single bit of their handrolls. It's made in front of you with fresh rice, seaweed and the type of fish you ordered. I usually get full around 6-7 rolls. A little on the pricey side but the ingredients are so fresh it doesnt taste as fishy. Just one thing is that - the stools are so uncomfortable to sit on. I feel like that really breaks my experience. Lovely staff as always, food is amazing but I just want a comfier stool LOL

Came here spontaneously and was surprisingly seated within 15 min even with a good amount of people in line. Service was phenomenal, all the staff were very attentive and kind. The food was also amazing. It was very simple and clean tasting. Enjoyed the quality of the fish. Will definitely be coming back!

Went for dinner on a weekday and it was busy inside. They only have sushi bar seating & the staff are friendly and attentive. I ordered a 6 hand roll set which consists of toro, yellowtail, salmon, bay scallops, crab, & lobster. The 6 roll set is $28. All of the sushi is buttery, fresh, & melts in your mouth. Parking- small shared parking lot (can be tough if it's busy)

Located on Ventura Boulevard, Sushi Tomoki is a small, intimate sushi restaurant with a clean, minimalist Japanese aesthetic and a relaxed atmosphere that lets the food take center stage. (The Infatuation) Since we were dining with our 22-month-old, we requested a table instead of sitting at the sushi bar, and the staff was very accommodating. They even prepared a customized tamago sushi roll for our little one, which he absolutely enjoyed. The omakase was thoughtfully paced, with each piece served one at a time so we could fully appreciate every bite. The fish was incredibly fresh, and every piece practically melted in our mouths. The attention to detail and quality of the ingredients really stood out. The only piece that wasn't my favorite was the sushi topped with mint. It simply wasn't my personal preference, though I'm sure those who enjoy mint with savory dishes would appreciate it. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Everyone was warm, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. They made my sister's birthday even more special by singing Happy Birthday and surprising her with complimentary sherbet and four pieces of green tea mochi--a thoughtful touch that ended the evening on a high note. Overall, Sushi Tomoki delivered a memorable omakase experience with outstanding sushi, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

We walked in at 6:40pm and got a nice welcome from Mediko. Without having a reservation, she sat us down immediately. Our server Meika approached us right away to take our order. We started off with a standard size of Garlic Edamame ($6.80), and then ordered few other cut rolls. Spicy Tuna Cut Roll--for 10 pieces ($14.80), Albacore Fried Onion Roll-- count of 12 for ($20.80), Zero Roll-- count of 12 for ($25.00), Rainbow Roll-- count of 12 for ($10.80). Everything was so LIGHT, FRESH and DELICIOUS!!! They also have hand rolls, and other types of cut rolls. They have street and metered parking. Before I forget, we ordered Crispy Rice Tuna that came in (2) pieces for (13.50). The minute I saw that, it made me laugh. Called our server and told her to take that back and remove it from the bill which she gladly did. I thought it was going to be an actual full course rolls. They also have dessert but we didn't order anything. Restaurant was very quaint, limited decor, very busy for Monday mid evening, and was very nice and clean. Total came out to be $95.70 including tax minus the tip. I'm sure they also have a bathroom, but we didn't end up using it. I will return, but not any time soon. They also don't have any Bento Box type of food. Very authentic place to go on a date, friends, family or even dine solo. They also have a Sushi Bar. Alcohol wise, only have beer, wine and sake along with 2 fridges full of cold drinks.. Thank you all very much!!

It meets all the checkmarks you'd look for in a nice restaurant in terms of environment, service and food. Ambience is romantic. Service was professional and each waiter has an appropriate number of tables assigned to make sure each customer feels like they're being cared for. Price is very affordable for an omakase, and considering what you're getting, the price seems justified. Having had a few omakase experiences prior to Sugarfish, I have to say this was an underwhelming experience. I came because of its reputations amongst my friends and acquaintances. Unfortunately, it did not have the creativity and innovation I was looking for in an omakase. Usually, I'd see chefs take more risk by showing off a new combination of ingredients. Instead, it looked like the price of the omakase was just the price of each dish you could get at any other sushi restaurant. I'm talking a few slices of sashimi, a hand roll and some nigiri. Reiterating - highly recommended for people new to sushi. Minimal decision fatigue and you get to taste a variety of plates. You can order the plates of the dishes you like someplace else.

I do wish they had more caffeine free drink options. Maybe some liquid death sodas, la crouix, or lemonade options would go well with the ramen or rolls! **The only other thing to keep in mind is that they tend to stop serving within a half hour of closing and sometimes they close early, might be best to order ahead or call if you intend on coming by around closing time, I was very disappointed two times because of this. ** Also, there is a shared lot and usually open spots on the street too.
