My husband and I went here based on a rec from Reddit. We made a reservation over the phone only an hour out based on a tip in the reviews bc it gets busy and it's a small restaurant. It was very easy to do. Parking is limited and small but we were able to get one in the front of the restaurant. It gives off hole in the wall type of vibe and I would've have never noticed it from the street. Next to a LensCrafters and hair salon. We ordered salmon & salmon belly nigiri, Orange Crush roll, and Bomb Bomb roll. Everything was so fresh and filling. Now I understand why this place is like a hidden gem. My faves were the Salmon Belly nigiri bc it had the right amount of rice and the Bomb Bomb roll which had soft shell crab on top, which I've never seen before, paired well with the avocado on it. It was super delicious! Our server Angie was so quick and attentive. She was taking care of all the tables around us so fast, picking up dirty plates and refilling waters. Service was the best! So good! So fresh....just really good! We got there right when they opened and there was a small line formed. It's a very small place, the 2 tables that sat more than a party of 2 already had reserved placards on them. We had to wait 5 min and were asked if we wanted to sit at bar or outside. I couldn't pinpoint why I wasn't completely satisfied but later figured out why. I asked my daughter(who loved it as much as I did) if the rolls were small because I never ate that much sushi. Besides that, we both had a slice of pizza when we got home. She said yes they were and that she noticed it. I visually didn't notice, but my tummy did. Best Salmon Skin Salad I've ever had!!! Chef dressing was balanced. And the salmon skin was crispy like bacon. Very, very, very generous amount of crispy salmon skin was provided to enjoy. Salmon skin has high concentration of Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamins B and D and minerals like niacin, phosphorus and selenium. Convenient Take Out Window for pickup. The waiters were cordial and friendly and helpful. The restaurant was buzzing with happy patrons. Even the couple coming out was elated and joyful. I was very satisfied with my meal. Oops! Almost forgot about the Protein Roll. I liked it a lot. Some previous comments mentions a fishy taste. I didn't have that. Came here with my husband thinking they had happy hour but they ended it during COVID. We arrived at 4:30PM when they opened. We were immediately greeted and sat at the sushi bar. We ordered the crispy rice roll to start which was amazing! If you love crispy rice this roll is for you. We then ordered Hamachi Belly and Blue Fin Nigiri which was very fresh and flavorful. We asked for a recommendation on a roll and our server confirmed we liked spicy before suggesting a roll I can't remember the name of but wow was it good. By this time my husband and I were both saying these rolls were some of the best we have had in San Diego but the Volcano kinda ruined that. We ordered that as our last roll and it did not match the pictures on Yelp. It was much smaller and not very flavorful compared to the other rolls we had. We ate here about 5 years ago and did not like the quality or the ambiance. Since then they have updated the interior but the quality of the fish is still less than average sushi restaurant quality. The tempura shrimp in one of the rolls we had was mushy and cold. One of the best parts of any roll with tempura anything is that it is crunchy, warm and freshly cooked. The rice was not the sticky rice you would normally have in sushi. It was larger grain, saturated and had a strange texture, like it was premade rice or was sitting around for awhile. The garlic edamame was covered with a watered down teriyaki type sauce that was messy and not very tasty. The "crab mixture" was heavy on the mayo and had no flavor. The ginger was not crisp, it was soggy and small pieces. CONCLUSION: We will not be going back to Sushi Fish Attack. read more

This used to be one of the best sushi restaurants in San Diego. Now they're hardly any different than so many other substandard sushi restaurants. While sushi rolls aren't found in Japan, I love them because of their complex flavors, textures, and quality ingredients especially the fish. They're intended to be enhanced sushi, cuts of sashimi mixed with fresh cucumber, seaweed, rice, and sometimes a sauce. But almost all specialty rolls here are made of cheap processed mixed fish called krab or cooked shrimp. This is not sushi by any standards. I'll be looking for someplace else to get sushi. The Orange Crush roll had scallops crab and salmon in one roll. It is worth the cost for being able to get those three items in one roll but when you eat it together the flavors blend into one. If anything you taste most of the scallop. The Mango Mango roll was a surprise because I've never had mango with my sushi before but the texture of the mango matches up with the salmon so it works. Received very well service from them. SUPER SALMON ($12.50) - in: real crab, *krab, cucumber, avocado top: fresh salmon, sliced lemon. I'm a sucker for rolls that have that thin slice of lemon on top. Many people have rant about this as a popular choice and so I went for it because it was the safe choice. Why does my roll look depressing compared to all other people's picture of the same roll. Mine just looks, sad. However when it came to me the presentation wasn't flattering as I've seen similar rolls like this in other places. And the rolls itself were average-good but not the best. The roll was soft, not chewy, and I tasted all flavors salmon, crab, and lemon. But I couldn't decipher where the real crab was mixed in with the imitation krab. SHRIMP TEMPURA ($6) - 3 pcs Deep-fried shrimps served w/tempura sauce. I couldn't justify the price for these 3 pieces. The batter around the shrimp fell a little flat with the crunch, maybe another minute in the fryer would have suffice. Not a fan of the dipping sauce for some reason. There parking can get pretty full and there's a sign that you can't park in the next plaza over where lens crafters is lol. This is the best so far I've been to in San Diego. I know I need to expound on that but the fact it is, you just need to come here to savor, understand and experience the party that happened in my mouth when we ate here. We had hamachi Kama, fish attach stack, ex girlfriend, bomb bomb, jalapeño bomb, dynamite, spicy crunch shrimp, Sapporo and an Asahi for me. All of these are top notch. Very nice people/staff. The sushi chef here mean business in their preparation of the "dishes". We sat at the sushi bar coz we don't have reservations and I personally think, they enjoyed seeing how our faces lit up every time we tried what was prepared before us. I would sit at the bar anytime. Just excellent! Oh parking can be a nightmare though So I choose to come as soon as they open. read more

It's kind of an oddly named sushi place, and kinda oddly located, but the quality was impressive, service excellent, and beer selection awesome. It's not a large restaurant but has outdoor seating available. Apparently they are also big in the take-out game as they have a dedicated window for that. Inside the ambiance is less traditional sushi place, not fully breaks you wallet upscale; its a nice contemporary vibe. Excellent for a nice night out or date night. They've got an impressive selection of rolls, but you can tell the high quality of the place from their sushi. If love to go omakase there and see what the chefs come up with. Loved their selection of Japanese beers beyond the Asahi and Sapporo (love those beers but it's nice to see where Japanese craft brewing is going). NOT 1 customer so we decided to dine in outside. they did a temp check at the door. I wasn't expecting it but i loved that!. we paid for our meal in advance before we even started eating. we got about 10 mins into our meal before another couple came so we busted the rest of it down and played like a ghost and disappeared. Since I'm a huge sushi fan, I have tried many different sushi places and I wanted to try this one since it had a good rating on yelp and I was nearby. My family and I were lucky enough to be seated without reservations because we went right when it opened. With that being said, a tip for those who are thinking of coming here is to make a reservation! Additionally, parking is super difficult, cramped, and small so I suggest looking for street or nearby parking when going during dinner time! We were lucky there was some space since we got there when it opened. The parking area is reserved for the different food places within that area so there's only a few parking spaces that are reserved for Sushi Fish Attack customers. As for the service, it would vary depending on who was assisting you. I found that certain workers came off a little more rude than others. Lastly, the food was okay. It was nothing special or amazing but was alright to eat. Another thing to take into consideration when determining where you want to sit is if you are okay with the flies outside or not. read more

Honestly been holding off on writing this review because this is my absolute favorite restaurant in SD and I don't want it to get too busy I have been here over 20 times in the past few years and they consistently have incredible quality fish for a decent price. The fish quality is on par with many high level omakase restaurants around town, but the price is very standard for sushi rolls. ($15-20 for specialty rolls) We also love their Japanese craft beer selection and try to have a different one every time. We always start with a miso soup and some Shishito peppers and then usually some nigiri. I suggest toro if they have it or salmon belly or hamachi belly. Also make sure to ask for a side of real wasabi! For the rolls you honestly can't go wrong but a few of our favorites are the kanpai, orange crush, sushi fish attack roll, hot lover, ex boyfriend, and kamikaze. Seriously the BEST sushi in San Diego. I've been going here since they opened and it never disappoints! Tonight I brought a friend and she let me order. We each shared a large Sapporo (two actually!), the spicy edamame, Miso soup, protein rolls (heaven on earth), and a spicy scallop hand roll. We also ordered something "to go". Everything was mouth watering delicious. We purposely went early since it is a small place and they have cut down in their staff/tables to be COVID friendly. We did not have a reservation but they squeezed us in and told us we had to be out in an hour.
