Picked up togo for my friends and I and we were all delighted! We ordered around 730 on a Friday and the wait was quite long -- about 50 mins. We ordered the Catepillar, Tiger, Orange Crush, Sunkissed, and Hot Lovers. Presentation was great. Fish tasted fresh and they were all relatively inexpensive. Seriously the BEST sushi in San Diego. I've been going here since they opened and it never disappoints! Tonight I brought a friend and she let me order. We each shared a large Sapporo (two actually!), the spicy edamame, Miso soup, protein rolls (heaven on earth), and a spicy scallop hand roll. We also ordered something "to go". Everything was mouth watering delicious. We purposely went early since it is a small place and they have cut down in their staff/tables to be COVID friendly. We did not have a reservation but they squeezed us in and told us we had to be out in an hour. They gave us ample time to order and reminded us we needed to finish up to accommodate their guests waiting. Thank you for never disappointing Fish Attack... "see you tomorrow"!!! read more

Since I'm a huge sushi fan, I have tried many different sushi places and I wanted to try this one since it had a good rating on yelp and I was nearby. My family and I were lucky enough to be seated without reservations because we went right when it opened. With that being said, a tip for those who are thinking of coming here is to make a reservation! Additionally, parking is super difficult, cramped, and small so I suggest looking for street or nearby parking when going during dinner time! We were lucky there was some space since we got there when it opened. The parking area is reserved for the different food places within that area so there's only a few parking spaces that are reserved for Sushi Fish Attack customers. As for the service, it would vary depending on who was assisting you. I found that certain workers came off a little more rude than others. Lastly, the food was okay. It was nothing special or amazing but was alright to eat. Another thing to take into consideration when determining where you want to sit is if you are okay with the flies outside or not. read more

Honestly been holding off on writing this review because this is my absolute favorite restaurant in SD and I don't want it to get too busy I have been here over 20 times in the past few years and they consistently have incredible quality fish for a decent price. The fish quality is on par with many high level omakase restaurants around town, but the price is very standard for sushi rolls. ($15-20 for specialty rolls) We also love their Japanese craft beer selection and try to have a different one every time. We always start with a miso soup and some Shishito peppers and then usually some nigiri. I suggest toro if they have it or salmon belly or hamachi belly. Also make sure to ask for a side of real wasabi! For the rolls you honestly can't go wrong but a few of our favorites are the kanpai, orange crush, sushi fish attack roll, hot lover, ex boyfriend, and kamikaze. We ordered two sushi rolls To Go. Got home and there was not enough wasabi, soy sauce for two rolls. The rolls themselves were smaller than other places. The take out order server at the window was rushed and interrupted when we were talking. The dragon crunch roll didn't have the fish piece on the top. read more

Best sushi spot in the Clairemont/Bay Ho/PB area if you like rolls. There are a few spots that might do a better omakase for Nigiri or Sashimi, but I don't do that a whole lot myself. Their Yellowtail is especially fresh and their quality is very consistent. The roll size is solid and I feel that plus the wide selection puts them above similar priced locations nearby. Note: they are often willing to make substitutions to rolls which is great since I am allergic to shrimp and crab and just adjust for market price. Lots of places won't do this. Lastly, they do a good job at not putting too much rice in the rolls, which is usually a sign of a good chef. We have arrived on busy nights many times and not had to wait for a table, service is good and the non-Sushi items we have ordered have been great. Four of us went here this week, and I'm happy to report that it has returned to a 4 star rating. We got 7 rolls and some chu-toro nigiri. All the rolls were good; my favorites were the Fire Cracker, Ex-Boy Friend, and the Hot Lover. My least favorite roll was the Thousand Island roll; a little bland for me -- next time I'll try the Protein Roll, which is similar but looks like it has a bit more going on flavor wise. The chu-toro nigiri was fine (definitely a cut better than regular maguro), but I have had better. I enjoyed the Otokoyama sake, and the server was great. Make reservations in advance, and be aware that the maximum party size they will seat is a party of 5. read more

Solid. Great little neighborhood joint with friendly faces and cozy atmosphere. Since moving inland (temporarily!), this has become our go-to spot for sushi. It fills the tummy and satisfies the sushi cravings. I hesitate to give it four stars, since I would be sorely disappointed if I sought out this place to try. However, I have to admit that I do like it here, and enough to come back over and over again. Basically, don't go out of your way or arrive with high expectations. The people are so lovely. The ambiance is unassuming and adorable. They often play old blues/jazz music and it's just the best. If I could eat here everyday, I would. Revisited an old time favorite. I've been dying to actually taste fresh sushi again. They deliver that here. Fish so fresh that it melts in your mouth. I like simple taste in my sushi rolls, and they measure great and large in terms of simplicity. Tuna roll was and is amazing. 10/10 California roll is everyone's favorite here. 9/10 Rainbow roll is pleasing to look at, easily increases appetite by presentation. 8/10 Kanpai roll had great texture! Scallops danced around in my mouth with pleasant flavors. 8/10 Fried squid (geso) was made with fresh squid, its texture was so juicy and crunchy 9/10 I like how they say "See you tomorrow!" as you proceed to exit the restaurant. One of my friends highly recommended this place so I had to try it. It's a small restaurant that I drove past many times but only recently noticed it. Anyway, we ordered the Thousand Island roll (a no rice roll), California roll, and a Salmon roll. We also ordered the Agedashi Tofu. The food tasted great. I loved the Thousand Island roll which had no rice and was wrapped in cucumber. I want to go back and try the other no rice rolls. The California and Salmon rolls were good too. However, they were somewhat on the small side. The tofu dish had great flavor. Ordering takeout was very efficient. We placed our order and then when we went to pick it up, there was a pick up window on the side of the restaurant. It was ready when they said it would be. The prices are reasonable and service was very good. I will definitely go back. read more

The menu is impressive since there is a lot to choose from; small plates, combos, hand rolls, special rolls, sashimi, salads... all that Japanese good stuff The two of us ordered the salmon roll (8 pcs), tempura octopus (5-6 pcs), tempura avocado (4 pcs), and Japanese beer. I enjoyed the freshness of the salmon, as well as the asparagus inside. The octopus' texture was fine, not chewy and the avocado tasted fresh. We appreciated the free edamame that was given to us as we were seated. The visit was underwhelming simply because we were still hungry! The amount of octopus and tempura avocado was not enough to fill us up...we even went across the street and finished a whole carne asada fries after our dinner! I've had tempura avocado TWICE the serving size from here at other places. Prices aren't bad... but not worth leaving hungry. The place itself is quaint and intimate. Nice ambiance for a date spot. They have a sushi bar and have one TV playing sports. Customer service was friendly but not outstandingly memorable. We didn't get checked on much. Visit Date: 11/28/21 Meal: Dinner Came here with a friend at around 5pm on a Sunday after catching a movie across the street. There was only one other table seated besides us, but then the restaurant filled up so quickly! I ordered the Mango Mango roll (in: salmon, hamachi, avocado; top: sliced mango, sesame seeds, ponzu, Sriracha) and the Super Salmon (in: real crab, krab, cucumber, avocado; top: salmon, sliced lemon). The rolls were $12.95 and $11.95, respectively. Both rolls were super fresh and delicious! And I love how thinly the chef cut the lemon on the salmon (some places cut it too thickly). I also had a Kirin Light, which came in a huge bottle - what a deal for only $6.50. My friend ordered the Albacore 911 ($12.95) and Ex-boyfriend ($15.50) and was equally happy with her rolls and her $9 glass of Chardonnay. The service was prompt, friendly and professional and the restaurant was very clean. Note: the parking lot is very small. I will definitely be back even though it's not really in my neighborhood - I will remember it the next time I shop across the street at the Clairemont Square. read more

Lots of options, including my now all time fave roll: (their version of) "tiger roll": eel and raw salmon, avo, & black masago atop, inside soft shell crab, cucumber. So. Good. Also love their stack with yellowtail, salmon, and tuna with wonton chips. My mouth is watering. Two areas for improvement: idk what is up with their soy sauce but it tastes strong and funny as hell. This is by far one of the best places for sushi in San Diego. Everything is always fresh and delicious. The owners and staff are super friendly. Highly recommend the Kanpai, the Sunkiss, the Protein and the Fish Attack Special Roll but you really can't go wrong with any of them. My go to sushi place. We decided to try this place because Kula's wait was so long. We went on a Saturday night and didn't even have to wait long for a table! It was a relatively small establishment but had a cool ambiance. Once we ordered, the waitress brought a small bowl of edamame. Because it was a full house, she gave us an apology in advance if the sushi took awhile to arrive. We waited about 10-15 minutes for our food to arrive. The three of us ordered the Surf n Turf, Tiger, and the Orange Crush rolls. The soft shell crab in the Tiger roll was nice but it didn't stand out as much as the Orange Crush (not pictured). The little thin slices of lemon with each piece added a nice citrus flavor. In my opinion, it was the best out of the three. Overall, I would say this place is worth a try. I've passed by Sushi Fish Attack Multiple times whenever I'm driving on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. It's definitely more of a hole-in-the-wall kinda sushi joint. Speaking of joints, omg it totally reeked like someone was blazing outside in their patio seating LOL multiple people who were waiting for a table were commenting that as well ha ha. The place is fairly small and there is a short wait on Friday night. I made a huge mistake of ordering the Lollipop Roll... I should have listened to the reviews below. It sounds good in the description but it does not taste good at all. It has a sesame crunch on the outside and it just ruined the roll for me. Not ordering the Lollipop again. My roomie got the Salmon Dynamite which was better. I should have ordered that roll instead. We also shared the crab cream cheese appetizer which was not bad. Overall just a so-so sushi place. I like Sushi Deli 3 better but if you're in a rush and don't want a long wait time, this is alright. Just don't expect top quality sushi. read more
