Where should I start!! When me and 2 of my friends entered the restaurant we were greeted by the manager, he asked us if we had a reservation we said no then he asked us if we had facemask and we said no and he says we need to have facemask to be here. So we were going to leave there's a gentleman at the end of the bar that basically told us that we can buy them for a dollar. So we bought three facemask for a dollar only to walk 10 feet and then took our face mask off to eat the gentleman at the bar started cussing at the manager and the manager escorted the gentleman out of the bar just poor service from the get go I would not recommend sushi Garden during Covid. My first ever poor review goes to Sushi Garden. HORRIBLE SERVICE and the sushi menu for AYCE was SO limited. I just moved to the area and was hoping to find a good place to get sushi. I have never witness such a subpar AYCE sushi restaurant. A rude female waiter (who wasn't even our original waiter) came hovering over our table and had the audacity to tell us she was going to charge us for the food on our table that we didn't even get a chance to finish eating yet. We expect to pay for what we didn't finish but at least have some manners to wait until we ask for our bill to discuss about charging us extra for leftovers. To add on top of that, the quality of the sushi from the limited selection was terrible,poor, and not fresh. This was also the first sushi restaurant that ever charged me for ordering an extra side of eel sauce and spicy mayo. I definitely won't be coming back and don't recommend coming here. Yuck! Last went to a Sushi Garden about 10 years ago. Very limited all you can eat menu now. Most of the allowed rolls have "crab" in them. Turns out that is fake crab. The tempura was swimming in oil and was inedible. The salad was drenched in a third of a bowl of dressing. Used to be fabulous. Now not worth it unless you want mediocre sushi and bad appetizers. We eat with Sushi Garden all the time! Normally we would visit the Tucson Mall location but found this one! We are glad we did so much closer to us and its in a cute boutique area. The property is beautiful, the inside is new and modern and the sushi always hits the spot! The drink menu is good much to choose from. The waitress was the best part of our last visit, she was very attentive and made us laugh too! The only reason it's receiving a 4 star and not a 5 is that the hostess was rude and the woman behind the counter supported it. We arrived around 8 pm and was told there was a waiting list of 21 people. I understand since it was a weekend they get very busy. Absolutely my favorite sushi place in Tucson! Great menu selection. Food is always served fresh and fast. Sushi dishes are eye appealing and creative. Hot dishes and all other menu items are also eloquently plated. Restaurant is always clean and provides a unique dining experience. Bar area is well stocked with a good selection of liquor accompanied with a fairly good drink menu. There is an outdoor dining/drink area available at this location. Generally there is a less than 5 minute wait if you walk in. However, reservations are always available if you prefer to book in advance. Outstanding place for an intimate date or romantic get together. Excellent for large parties and groups. read more

Used to be a great place to come for all-you-can-eat. Then they seemed to be content to be crowded all the time and let the quality of the fish decline. The squid nigiri I had was slimey and almost chewy. The service is decent, and distant. We're numbers to them. It's an assembly line. The service isn't 'bad, but it's not about you; it's about getting you fed and getting you out. With so many other better sushi options all around Tucson, I'm amazed this place continues to do so well. read more

Don't come here for the lunch buffet! :( The food is really cold and there aren't as many optionsas advertised online. THe only thing I ate was the jelly filled bread which is why I'm giving this review 2 stars. That was the only good thing about the buffet. Also, I saw a lot of dead bugs on the sushi bar and near and around the buffet. There were several flies roaming around the buffet as well, I'm anticipating on being sick later today. Left this restaurant BANNED by the manager because a food allergy was not accounted for. Friends and I came in for dinner and all had ordered and even asked what 2 specific rolls had in them. When the rolls arrived at our table one was nothing of what we had been told and we mentioned to both the waitress and manager that the girl was allergic to the scallops placed on the roll and she was told there was none in the roll to begin with. When asking for an exchange or help with this problem we were told there was nothing they could do for a $10 roll!!! They proceeded to yell at us after we had paid online through their app and left cash for the roll that was not accounted for properly. We did not leave this establishment without paying for what we ate. We were threatened by the manager to have our accounts depleted for not having paid for the roll we were told falsely about. We were screamed at saying that we would not be able to return and we would all be charged for their mistake. There was NO customer service and a very hostile environment that was unnecessary. I will never be returning by choice because of the lack of respect towards customers the manager seems to have. If yelling is what you like at dinner, make sure to come here, very unprofessional. read more

Came here to have dinner before a play, we ordered a bunch of sushi, yakisoba, ramen and a bunch of other cooked dishes. We got all of our food except the ramen which we asked for three times. It finally Came after everyone was done eating, we asked the server what happened and he said the chef was new. We asked to speak to the manager and he informed us it was twenty minutes on the ticket. He said he took it off which was not even what we wanted, just a sincere we messed up and we're sorry would have sufficed. He threw attitude and was completely unprofessional. This establishment should be embarrassed of their employees and their joke service. We frequently eat out and would have liked to add this into our regular rotation. The food was delicious. I used to really enjoy this place but the quality of service has really gone down. I like their garden rolls and order them. But for the last couple of times they forgot to add a couple of ingredients in it ( the pickled carrots). This time when I asked for it they literally just got a peace of it on the side. I had also asked for extra yamagobo and as they forgot and got it on the side and still charged me 1 dollar for it as an extra. They also charge for everything now. The charge for things like low sodium soy sauce too which most other sushi places won't charge you for. The staff is also way ruder than they used to be. If you order delivery from here, they won't even send soy sauce with sushi. This place is cutting corners at the most stupid stuff. There are a very few number of times that I have frequented a restaurant and could not find any merit in it's service. Having worked my way up from the bottom-most positions in the hospitality industry, I usually feel for the hardships and annoyances that these employees have to endure. This was not one of those times. We visited this location tonight for a anniversary celebration for my mother. We brought our 11-month-old and fully expected a small degree of trepidation from the Sushi Garden team in serving as it is par for the course these days. What we did not expect was that start to finish we would be made to feel out of place, unwelcome and as a nuisance. We were greeted by a ho-hum hostess, seated in a cramped booth, and provided with a filthy high chair full of food from previous guests. Thank goodness for disinfectant wipes! Our server repeatedly ignored a request from my mother for gluten-free soy sauce until we had almost completed our meal and received an, "Oh, I'm sorry this is a little late." From that point on there was eye roll after eye roll from the young female staff at everything from the floor beneath the high chair, our request for more water and my sweet little baby leaving on my husbands shoulders. I'm still not quite sure why that last action annoyed the young lady so much. It was just so incredibly insulting. The food was forgettable at best and we were treated like we weren't worth the effort of the crew, even though we spent $100 for dinner for four. We will never return and as I still work in the hospitality industry, often answering requests for great places to dine I will be sure to forget this one in my responses. read more

I was sorely disappointed in my experience here; it wasn't hugely awful or horrible, but I guess I really expected more. It was a let down. It comes down to this: 1. Beverage selection is very limited, meaning the nonalcoholic drinks. They don't even have root beer or real lemonades - basics. 2. Awkward wait time - we came on a Friday night. Of course it was busy and that's not to be against anyone, and we did have to wait in line. There wasn't really any space for waiting though. We stood awkwardly next to the door for about 30 minutes with a crowd of other people who also stood awkwardly(btw we didn't even stay 15 minutes in the restaurant when we were seated; really anticipated something to compel me to stay longer or at least feel like I didn't waste 30 minutes standing in the cold). 3. Our sushi came warm. We ordered sushi, and we started to eat it... and it was warm! I don't mean room temperature, I mean like slightly warmer than the room. It was super perturbing. Sushi is supposed to be cold, except for select types. 4. The sushi was okay at best. Besides being warm, there was a huge rice to the insides ratio (too much rice for how much middle there was), it didn't stay together at all, making it a nightmare to eat with chopsticks. It also was just meh tasting, for what we could taste - bland. Also, the rolls came short. The looked thick from the amount of rice loosely crumbled into them. Not even the rice was good. 5. Service was okay at best. Our server didn't really communicate anything to us and didn't even serve us... she just seated us. We were also seated to dirty tables that we had to ask someone to wipe down :/ hopefully we were the only ones with that experience. We had to wave people walking by to get our order and other things, including wasabi. I expect wasabi and ginger to be included in a sushi meal. 6. Very bland and flavorless soy sauce. I know that seems trivial, but that's a big part of my sushi eating experience: the soy sauce has to be good. I love sushi, and maybe that's the problem - I eat sushi because I love it. I didn't love or even like this sushi. I regretted my time there and felt uncomfortable because of how much I didn't like it. I wonder how things might differ during a less busy day, but certain things just don't change with busyness - like sushi recipes, beverage selections, and soy sauce. I'll leave it to someone else to find out, however. I'm not coming back. If anything, it's a tribute to the place I normally get sushi, which is Masa Sushi. If I want sushi, that's where I'm going. read more

Hm. I used to come to Sushi Garden a lot and enjoyed the food and the deals. On this last visit, the service was good and the fish was pretty good, but not as great as I remember from before. The all-you-can-eat menu has some limitations and there's no discount for kids. The buffet...well, I'm not a fan of buffets (as the quality usually isn't there) and the one here is along the same lines. Bottom line is that Sushi Garden is still a decent reliable sushi source, and it's terrific if you plan to stuff yourself stupid, but I can think of other places with more exceptional fish. read more

I've been doing the AYCE sushi here for years and always told everyone it was the best in town. However the last time we went it felt like they really cheapened it. Sure they made the price cheaper, but they took A LOT off the menu. So much to the point where we didn't feel like it was worth the cheaper price. Food Ok, Service Ok...Owner/General Manager Chun - HORRIBLE! So bad I created this account just to be able to write a review. 17 of us celebrated a birthday there last night. Separate checks were needed of course. The server ended up swiping my card for the wrong tab - My total $23+, but my card was swiped for $155+. The error was caught, but since the card had been swiped, that amount was debited from my account. This made my rent check bounce, timing couldn't have been worse. I have a NSF fee of $35 plus $25 per day until the wrong amount "falls" off my card and my rent can be deducted in full. Spoke with CHUN today and says there's nothing he can do except refund my correct bill total ($23+) Chun COULDN'T care less! He hung up on me while I was still talking. I will be out probably close to $100 in the end for a mistake that was no way my fault. Chun had given a half-hearted 'sorry,' he clearly does not care about the patrons of his restaurant nor does he care about doing the RIGHT thing! Shame on you Chun!! read more

Today we walked in with some food from mcdonalds for the baby to eat and the manager came up and looked at us and said no outside food and waved us off and started talking to the people behind us. My friends and I came here a few days ago after work for a very late dinner and some drinks. The AYCE was already over for the day so we just ordered off the regular menu. We all ordered quite a bit and the sushi overall was pretty good. I'd rate it a 4/5. I really liked my drink, the strawberry sake-to-me-rita. The reason why my rating is so low is because our server was one of the absolute worst servers I've ever had in my life. He was rude to us while taking our order, literally telling us to wait a minute in a rude tone. Then, other then bringing out our food, he never checked in to see how we were doing or get us any refills. One of my rolls never came, and since he literally never came by I didn't get a chance to ask him about it. I told him when he brought us our checks and he had the gall to get upset at me and rudely ask why I never told him. When I told him he never came by our table for me to ask, he told me I should have flagged him down because he was "there, there, and there the whole time". It is NOT my job to flag down my server to let him know my order wasn't complete. If he had checked in even ONCE then he would've known I never got one of my orders. Sushi Garden is more of a 3.5 star establishment, but I'm rounding it up to 4, mainly because of the service we received We had friends visiting from out of town who were in the mood for sushi, and since this place is close by we thought we'd give it a try. We came on a Saturday night, and the place was hopping. Sushi Garden is clearly popular with the college crowd, and we were surrounded by raucous college students who were enjoying several rounds of saki bombers. The ambiance was otherwise nice, very modern yet comfortable. As for the sushi, it was okay. They've created some interesting sushi combinations, and the presentation for everything we ordered was lovely, but flavor wise, it all seemed a bit underwhelming. However, our server was awesome. Despite being completely slammed, and having to cater to a large table of rambunctious and fairly well-lit college kids, she kept her cool and was attentive throughout the meal. It made the mediocre sushi a lot less disappointing, and otherwise really enjoyed ourselves. I'm hoping it was use an "off" night for the sushi chefs. We will probably give this place another shot. read more

Checked in at 1308 for lunch buffet to find that 1/2 of the lunch selection containers empty the hot food pretty much . It is 1337 and they still remain empty it is not overly busy . The sushi selection was fine about 4 different rolls to pick from but still not much there . Definetly not worth the price or drive over the only good thing this far has been that our waiter Daniel is great at refilling our drinks since that is what we are filling ourselves with since the food is scarse . The food that is sitting there is not the worst but not in any way amazing . Definetly not good for lunch buffet ill just go to panda next time. read more
