This is a very dependable family friendly spot! I came with 2 sets of parents, teenage children and all left satisfied. Very hospitable and friendly service. We even got extra sashimi and free ice cream!

this year for my brothers annual get together we ordered the manhattan special, assortment of vegtable rolls, and few lunch bento boxes. everything was fresh and delicious. the staff was pleasant and was generous with a couple of free appetizers since it was a large order. last year was a good experience as well.

Today for lunch we randomly stopped into Sushi Hana. We were walking past it and figured we'd try their lunch specials. We spent $33 for two people. 3rolls (with salad) and a bento box (with miso soup) Taro milk tea with boba. Rolls: Philadelphia roll: was tasty, a bit too much cream cheese for my taste, but it was still really good. Spicy Tuna: good flavor, tasted fresh. Rice tender. Eel avocado: my favorite, perfect amount of eel sauce and the avocado was perfectly ripe so it all kind of melted together. I loved it! Shrimp Teriyaki Bento Box: 4 large shrimp in a really great garlicky, ginger teriyaki. It was really tasty, on a bed of cooked onions which were really really yummy. My only complaint was the shrimp was very overcooked. But the flavor is spot on. Rice was good, California rolls were fine. The Shumai was tasty. My kid said the miso soup was ok, but didn't really eat much of it, they drank their whole cup of tea so it must've been tasty. Wish I had more input for you on that, maybe next time. Ambiance is nice. It's quiet, seemed clean, no sticky tables and hand sanitizer available at the table. I didn't use their restroom so I cannot comment on that... it was lunch, we were in a hurry. We would order from here again.

Ordered their 3 rolls lunch special (Alaskan roll, white tuna roll and shrimp tempura roll) for pickup. For $10.95, the option comes with a soup or salad and you can get both for an additional $1. Food was ready to be picked up within 15mins, the service was fast and it's almost contactless. There is a barrier between the staff and customers so there is minimal physical interaction. Hand sanitizer was seen available for customers too! Rolls were pretty good. Their menu seems to have a variety of rolls including vegetarian, raw and cooked options (mentioning it this way because it's also in separate sections in their menu). I will definitely order again from their lunch menu or many try their special rolls.

This is my favorite sushi spot to order from in bay ridge. The fish is always fresh, pleasing to the eye, and always arrives warm. Even better is that Hana has great prices.I got edamame, scallion pancakes, spicy tuna roll and California roll with brown rice. This is a good casual place for that sushi craving. They offer lots of rolls & combos. Your safest bet is choosing the sushi combo that comes with a variety of sushi pieces. This is very filling & will save you from ordering specialty rolls that are kind of pricey but it is much in line with standard pricing. I came in for a quick lunch & was not disappointed!

Updating my review to say, wonderful restaurant still but BEWARE DELIVERY.COM. I will call Sushi Hana directly going forward. I ordered today through here, as I have many times before, and for the first time it said my Yelp order was being carried out by Delivery.com. It was advertised as "save $5 with any $35+ order". So I order more than I initially planned and the total was $43.90. When I got the confirmation email, it shows I was charged $50! I called delivery.com and their prices were all different, even for tax. I called Delivery.com & they couldn't credit me the money. They said I could use a coupon for future orders. Because that worked so well this time! Ugh!! I tried to cancel the order but it was too late. Like I said, I'll still order because the restaurant is great and faultless but how many times have I ordered and not looked at my email receipt? Very unethical business practice.

This is my go-to sushi takeout restaurant. I've tried several sushi places near my area, but none are as good as Sushi Hana. Personally, I am not particularly fond of sushi, but it's at the top of my family's luxury comfort meals, so I have to go with the flow. My family don't eat raw sushi, so I have to keep that in mind whenever I order sushi. Luckily, Sushi Hana's menu specifies whether something is cooked or not, so this makes my job so much easier. You might be wondering why the heck would people want to eat cooked sushi, when the good stuff is the raw fish options? Yes, I know, but that's my family for you. Trust me, I always get strange looks from wait staff at other sushi restaurants when I ask which of the menu items are cooked. Anyway, everyone in the family has sensitive stomachs, so raw food is not going to be appreciated by their guts, which will result in hours on the porcelain throne. So my review is for anyone else out there who is interested in only the cooked sushi options, because this is what I buy from Sushi Hana every time. The miso soup is nice, with bits of tofu floating at the top, and seaweed at the bottom. It's not particularly outstanding, and I consider it to be standard fare. It's not too salty, which is good. The bubble tea tastes like chalky powder, and the bubbles are rubbery. So now I always get the Shirley Temple instead. It's a fizzy cherry flavored drink with maraschino cherries on the bottom. When the sushi arrives, it comes in a neatly arranged circular box or multiple rectangular boxes, depending on how much you've ordered, and that's when I have trouble figuring out which roll is which, so forgive me if I can't describe each roll in detail. I usually only pick from the special rolls that cost over $10 per item. The only raw roll I order which is acceptable by my family is the spicy crab roll. It is simply spicy crabmeat surrounded by rice. I have no way to gauge how high the quality of the crabmeat is, but it doesn't cause any stomach issues, and it tastes fine to me, so judge that how you will. It doesn't taste spicy at all, even to the person who can't tolerate any spiciness in my family. The best roll is the Godzilla roll. I order this every time, and this is the roll I eat the most of. It's a fried roll with a mixture of fish and spicy mayo. I recall there was another fried roll on the menu before, but I no longer see this as an available option, which is a shame, because it was just as good as the Godzilla roll. The Dragon roll is the standard eel and avocado roll, with a drizzle of unagi sauce. The Cowboy roll is a new roll with shrimp tempura inside, and a piece of seared steak on the outside. It's a weird combination, but tastes fine. I do think that the surf & turf sushi concept is not necessary, since it doesn't miss much if you remove the slice of steak from the outside. The 007 roll is like the Cowboy roll, but instead of steak on the outside, there is eel and avocado. The eel and shrimp combination work much better in this case. The Empire roll has crabmeat inside, and salmon dressed with spicy mayo outside. I don't like the Ocean Tiger roll, which has lobster on the inside and wrapped with marbled seaweed on the outside. The rice to fish proportion is off, and the lobster did not taste good to me. Other than that, I've ordered several other types of special rolls from Sushi Hana, since I try to mix and match and experiment with the roll options. I recall that any rolls with cream cheese are absolutely disgusting, so I avoid those from now on. There were also rolls with mango, which are also odd-tasting to me. While not unpleasant, I'd rather have savory over sweet rolls when eating sushi. Overall, Sushi Hana has great cooked sushi options, although there are some misses here and there. I recommend this restaurant for their delicious special rolls, although I can't give any opinion on their raw options and other cooked food, since I've only eaten their cooked sushi rolls.

Was in the area and figured I'd try this place. It was a great surprise! The lunch special is a lot BUT I was curious and ordered additional stuff. What you see here is: 2 orders of Teriyaki Bento Box (Salmon w/ salad - you have an option of soup or shumi, of I remember correctly); an order of Hanna salad (shredded crab meat salad); an order of Shumi - all for $40. This lasted 2 sittings (ate and had left overs). 4 stars b/c when you buy the lunch specials from other places, a drink is included *I guess I'm spoiled*

This is my only sushi spot in Brooklyn!!!! It's rare for me to give so many stars. I live in Chinatown so I have many other options but I keep coming back to this place!! there sushi is fresh and on point . The green salad is fresh as well , their chicken teriyaki is delicious they always amaze me . Many options to choose from , they have a nice lunch special and dinner special . Very friendly people , they take precautions during COVID. read more

Sushi dinner was good but dinner entree was a bit disappointing. Too sweet to eat. I was not asked if I wanted my sea bass over soba and expected rice with fish. Ask for rice if you get miso sea bass. read more

I can easily give this place 5 stars. The food is fresh, atmosphere is good, service good, fast delivery. And the food is amazing! I love how fresh the sushi is!! Whether you sit in or order out, it tastes great! The first time I ordered for delivery, it seriously showed up 15 minutes later. Fastest delivery to date from anywhere I've ordered from. Incredible sushi, the best I've found in Brooklyn (and I've been to dozens of places)! I've moved away now, but I still go here every time I visit--the maki/nigiri on the menu are really something, and the fish is clearly high quality. This is one of my favorite restaurants, hands down. My father and I call it "our place" and have daddy/daughter dates there, but that isn't the only reason I love it. First, their delivery is great. It's fast and the food is always packed well. The actual ambiance of the restaurant is very nice, very trendy (without the price); it's never crowded and the staff is very friendly. This is some of the best sushi I have eaten in either Manhattan or Brooklyn- very fresh, and very well done. My dad hates sushi, but they have an expansive menu for him and he never leaves hungry. He usually gets the chicken terriaki. I go here all the time and will continue to go back! (Probably ordering sushi there for lunch!) read more

I've had delivery from here a million times and have eaten-in a bunch of times as well. The service is great either way - super fast delivery, always the same really sweet delivery guy, food is always packaged well. Waitstaff is attentive. The owner is awesome - super nice guy. Rolls and sushi/sashimi are very good, fresh and fairly priced. Hot food items are good as well but I usually stick to sushi. As mentioned by others they have really great lunch specials. By far the best sushi place in my neck of Bay Ridge. read more

This is our go to sushi spot. We love to come here in off peak times, sit side by side, and enjoy beautifully created sashimi platters. The service is outstanding and the presentation is always new, unique, and different. The owner even gave us a complimentary appetizer once. Another time, we ordered take out and waited in the car. 10 minutes later, one of the wonderful waitresses actually brought out the food without us asking. Not every Japanese lunch box is created equal. This one was just perfect. White meat chicken, fresh ingredients for the roll, and yummy shrimp shumai. Four stars because some places offer you the salad and soup but here you have to choose one or the other. read more

I might be wrong but Sushi Hana has been opened for a REALLY long time here. I remember seeing it the first time I started going to high school in the area. That's at least 9 years! or it could've been another sushi joint that looked very similar in the same approximate location. Cannot recall properly Anywho, came here recently with a friend. I had the scallop teriyaki while she had a katsudon. It was of course delicious in the sense that teriyaki wasn't all you're tasting. I hate places that overpower their dishes with strong sauces. The katsu was very crispy and juicy, it's tasted just as good as my own katsu but in a different kind of way. We also shared an order of fried squid and a dragon roll. The fried squid was crispy and still retained a bit of the squid's chewy elasticity(is that the right term?). Dragon roll was pretty much exactly how we'd imagine an eel and avocado roll to taste. The soup was a little heavy on miso and the green tea was kinda weak but it could be overlooked and in the end, left very satisfied. read more

I have only had delivery from Sushi Hana, so I cannot speak for anything other than the food, which is far superior than any other Asian delivery in the area. I know, who orders sushi for delivery? Well, I guess I do, and I've tried most of them around Bay Ridge. Every since I tried Hana, I won't get anything else. Delivered, at least. The rolls come still at the right temperature and are never soggy. That goes double for the gyoto, which is quite a feat of it's own. Definitely going to have to stop in next time I'm around 86th. read more

This place has hands-down the best tofu teriyaki on the damn planet. It's perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside, and paired with the teriyaki sauce, it's like a little fried cake on your plate! I have come here several times with my parents and friends. They also serve a chilled, carbonated pink sake called Hana-Awaka ($12 per bottle, be careful) and serve a delicious hot sake for $6 for a bit bottle. Their fish is always very fresh, very tasty and the servers are nice people. Definitely a stop-by place after shopping on 86th. read more

I count myself very lucky to have a sushi place as excellent as Sushi Hana near my apartment--and even on the way home if I walk from the subway. The fish is incredibly fresh and good, and I've tried several of their regular rolls as well as the special ones. I both order takeout and carry it home myself--in which case it's always ready within 10-15 minutes, max. Delivery can be slow, even with how close I live to the place, but that's my only complaint. The "summer" roll is by far my favorite, and I now seek it out at other sushi restaurants, hoping they'll have an approximation of its greatness. read more

I've gone here a few times over the year. I love how it's always empty and calm in there. I always get the teriyaki lunch box. The sushi is great but the beef was fatty and rare so no bueno. Also I didn't like how online the lunch box was 6.50 and when I get there it's 9.50. Other than that its a pretty good place. read more

First of all the sushi is expensive. And when ur order for delivery THE MOST RUDEST DISRESPECTFUL CHINESE MAN BEGS FOR A TIP!!!!!. And I always give tips when I give him all that I have he begs for more. He is soooo RUDE that I just had to stop ordering from them Bc I just didn't wan to deal with terrible treatment from this delivery guy. That's his f job. Last time I ordered he was actually pushes the my DOOR OPEN just to Bc he wanted money extra for him. So I quit on this place. DONT EVER ORDER HERE read more

Hands down the best sushi restaurant! I've been going to Sushi Hana several times a month for over 15 years now and we've never had a bad meal. We love so many dishes now it's hard for us to decide what we want to eat: Sushi Rolls? Special Rolls? Beef Negamaki? Salmon Teriyaki? Shrimp Tempura ? And now we are in love with the Shrimp Fried Rice too. My favorite thing to do is go with my family of 5 an all of us order something different so we can have it all ! I've recommended Sushi Hana to many of my family and friends and now it's their favorite place as well! Talk about thoughtfulness and going the extra mile, how many restaurants give their best customers Christmas and Mother's Day certificates? They really warm my heart. Thank you Meg and Ken! Try the back patio on a warm summer day and sip a yummy flirt martini made with fresh strawberries. The sushi is creative and fresh, but much of it tastes the same. Overall a good experience, but I would have loved a little more variety on the spicy sushi theme. read more

I've been ordering from Hana pretty regularly for the last year or so to get my sushi fix as it is one of very few places in Bay Ridge that can get a delivery person on to the Army base where I live. Their sushi is good and they know us very well. It's nice to call a place and have them know off the bat at least some of what you're planning to order before you even finish telling them where you live! The delivery has always been ridiculously fast for us, which is great because we tend to wait until the last minute to order. The in-restaurant experience is nice; the decoration is sparse but its very clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful! read more

I've been a customer at sushi Hana for years. Originally, I loved the food but couldn't enjoy it at the restaurant due to the workers literally screaming at each other (I'm not kidding it was really bad but I'm pretty sure they don't work there anymore) so I began to order in. I order delivery from here quite often and the quality has been dramatically decreasing. I made a large order today and nothing was up to par. All 7 of the rolls I ordered today fell apart. My kani salad was pretty much all lettuce. The salmon teriyaki was really dry and it didn't have any teriyaki in it either. I'm really disappointed and I'm definitely not ordering from here anymore. read more

I live right by this place and its by far my favorite sushi place in the area. I've tried them all!! Always fresh and never a bad experience. Great service, great chefs. Excellent all around. The ambience is cute, and all of the rolls and dishes are great. Especially the godzilla roll which is so amazing! read more

We also tried to branch out and ordered the short rib entree. For $21, it was shockingly small--definitely a single-person portion, not sharable. I added extra ikura to a salmon donburi bowl for $2, but it was barely a teaspoon's worth--just enough to say it was there. Oddly, the salmon slices in that bowl were thinner than the sashimi we had just eaten, and overall, it left me still hungry even after sharing a maki roll. Lastly, my husband ordered a green salad, which somehow took the entire meal service to arrive. When it finally came, it was just plain romaine, cucumbers, radish, and dressing. For a dinner that clocked in at over $150 (after tip), we definitely left underwhelmed. Service: 3/5 This part wasn't bad, just confusing. A manager approached us and informed us that outside food was not permitted, even though purchases had been made. We were then asked to leave and eat outside in the hot weather. I understand that businesses have policies regarding outside food, and I respect the need to enforce them. However, I believe this situation could have been handled with greater compassion and understanding, given that the group consisted of individuals with disabilities who rely on packed lunches due to financial limitations. As someone who has consistently supported your establishment, I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and empathy shown. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my business or the individuals I support to your establishment. I hope this feedback encourages your management team to consider a more accommodating approach when serving members of the disability community in the future.

We needed to get sushi for our New Year celebration in Staten Island and since there were no good places near the house we were going to, we decided to find something in Bay Ridge. I trusted Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. I first called around noon to confirm they were open on the New Year's eve and the gentleman who spoke to me was very nice, confirmed they were open till 10 and suggested that I call an hour before as we had a large order, 14 rolls. When I called the second time, he recognized me and made sure he got the order right, and it was ready when we came to pick it up. All the rolls were delicious and tasted very fresh. We over-ordered a bit, thinking 9 special rolls for 4 adults and 5 regular rolls for 4 kids was not too much, but it was; in retrospect, we would have been fine with 6 rolls for adults and 3 rolls for kids because the roll size was very generous, plenty of fish/seafood inside and outside. We will definitely be ordering from this place again whenever we come to visit our friends in Staten Island! read more

The GO TO for sushi in bay ridge by far. There are other places which definitely have tasty and affordable sushi in the area but it is not Sushi Hana. The fish is always fresh and tasty which is basically the most important thing for a sushi restaurant, the place is always clean and inviting and the staff always pleasant.
