We have frequented Sushi House for a couple of years. It is one of our local favorites. It is run by a young couple who really do their best in providing a quality experience. Their sushi is very good. The Geist roll is the best specialty roll I've ever had. My wife agrees. Edamame is excellent as well. A friend and I tried this place on Saturday and it was fantastic! I was a little worried when we went in because we were the only people in the place, but the service, food, and atmosphere were great! I had the dancing eel roll and the dynamite roll. Both rolls were well prepared and great tasting. The sushi chef came to the table and talked to us and he was very knowledgeable about sushi. The prices are great here as well. If you love sushi and are well familiar with good sushi do not come here. All the sushi and insides of the roll were ground up to a paste. Therefore every piece had the same texture and taste whether it was the spicy tuna or Godzilla roll. Also the pieces of fish we did have, via sashimi and a piece of yellowtail was extremely dried out like it had been refroze. The prices did not reflect ground up sushi. My wife and I decided to try this place out. The curbside appeal is lacking to say the least. SUSHI HOUSE is the only thing you'll notice as you drive through the parking lot of the strip mall. The decor was nice, but overall it was a small venue. Although, like many others, the prices were on the high side...the sushi was good. I liked the creative spin on some of the ingredients. The outside of this restaurant is deceiving with it being located in a strip mall. Once inside, I was impressed with the decor. It had dark wood, low lighting, and a great setting for a date. I wasn't thrilled with the high price of the rolls, the only reason this place didn't give five stars, but I was impressed with the variety of the rolls. Many other sushi restaurants add tempura to make their rolls different. This place was able to mix things up without frying. We enjoyed their fuji tuna that had apples in it. We had another tuna with mango which was delicious. Their philly roll was the same as every other place but still good. I would go back next time I'm in the neighborhood. read more

This is a respectable sushi restaurant, but a little pricier than I expected. Although you wouldn't know it from the outside of the building, this place has a nice atmosphere inside. I can tell they use quality ingredients, but their execution just didn't wow me. Their maki rolls are small and unless you order specialty rolls, there is nothing impressive about them. For instance, when I order a spicy salmon roll at other restaurants, it usually comes with a drizzle of that sriracha mayo that I love so much, but sadly Sushi house served theirs plain. There are 3-sushi places closer to home but none has the quality of food and service and we always return to our family favorite. I am a big fan of both the food and the service. We go every few months with our daughters, normally for special events. The staff is attentive and friendly. The outside is pretty dismal (strip mall, near a Marsh Supermarket) but inside the restaurant is nicely appointed. And the food ... we love the Sushi. My daughters like all the sushi options. They normally split a few rolls and a bento box. My father and mother often go with us. My father loves the Udon noodles. My mother is a celiac and the staff really work with her to ensure the meal is exactly what she needs. I look forward to going back. The only problem is that I eat too much! read more

I've been here a few times before but this time warrants a review for how amazing it was. The wine prices are so reasonable, as is the sushi and the rest of the menu. The staff here are some of the nicest people I've ever met and when they found out is was my boyfriend's birthday they really went above and beyond to make sure our night was wonderful. I was originally very pleased to see a sushi restaurant in the area. Unfortunately the staff is very unfriendly and appears to seem oblivious to customers waiting to be seated or pick up take out orders. The last straw was after my attempt to order take out for my family (which includes a toddler) I ordered an appetizer, 2 entrees and attempted to order a kids meal. I was told that I could only order a child's meal if we ate in restaurant dining. I attempted to TRY to explain not only was I trying to order for my entire family, but I was quite certain they would no prefer my 2 year old as a dine in customer. I had a take out menu and explained that no where on the menu did it restrict a child's meal to dine in only. I was told it was up to the manager and he said no. Needless to say not only did they pass on a 40.00+ order but all future orders from our household. They are rude and lack reasonable customer service. The servers are not typical servers, but they are very nice; I am sure if I had a problem, it would be easily fixed. The place is kinda small, but clean and nice. My boyfriend and I love trying all the sushi places around us. Sushi house is the one we always come back to. They have the cheapest sushi around but it's honestly the best (and we've almost tried everything within 30 minutes at this point). They now know us as regulars and usually know what we want. OK... I confess it... I'm a weenie. That is to say, I don't like "true sushi" or to be clear... raw fish/seafoods. I've tried, I really have. I used to work for a Japanese company and wanted to be able to go to dinner with my boss and co-workers and order sushi just like a "big boy"!! I tried several different fishes, eels, etc. and just couldn't do it. It was more than just the taste (I DO like seafood) it was the combination of taste and texture along with the thought of just what I was eating! Fortunately along with the California rolls I was turned on to softshell crab sushi which is fried and served in a creamy mayonnaise-based sauce. Now THIS I can eat!! Not just "stand" but really like!! So when I stopped in to this establishment, I asked the fellow (manager and/or owner I think) if they had such a thing. He directed me to what he called a "Spider Roll". Their version of what I had elsewhere was very tasty indeed! If you've had this dish at Sakura's or at Itchiban Noodles, this was every bit as good. The only real criticism that I could have was the serving size. You see, I've had some stomach surgeries and it's almost unheard of for me to finish my meal (clean my plate), but there was no take home box for me here. So... In summary the place was nice, neat, clean, and the service was outstanding (although there was no one else there) which leaves the serving size as the only thing that could be an issue with folks who have a good appetite. Even with the smaller serving size, I will be back as the food was very good and it's not too far from home. read more

Do NOT, EVER purchase a coupon (Groupon or any other) for this business. While the ad didn't specify this, when the Groupon printed out (AFTER purchase was made), there were many hoops to jump through to use the coupon. For instance, we were required to make a reservation to USE the coupon, and were required to mention the coupon while making the reservation. (Hmmm, that made my radar go up right away.) And sure enough, I feel we were ripped off. The coupon deal was for 1/2 off a dinner for 2 - 2 Specialty Rolls (up to $9 ea, no substitutions), miso soup, salad, sodas. So what's the point of a Groupon deal, Sushi House? Are you trying to drive customers AWAY? While the sushi was good, if you really charge $9 for a Specialty Roll that consists of only 4 small pcs. (which is what we got with this "deal"), then we certainly wouldn't want to return and pay FULL price for that. (A sushi roll similarly priced elsewhere usually has at least 8 pcs.!) Do you really think this is the way to garner return customers? The owners of this restaurant would be wise to stop trying to outwit their customers with downsized "deals" and jump-through-hoops fine print. It's counterproductive - do they not realize that? (Apparently not - I see that others have complained about similar problems using restaurant.com coupons in this establishment, so I'm not alone here). How about just doing a straight-up, HONEST, dollars-off deal, Sushi House, letting your customers decide what (FULL-SIZE) menu items to try? Or here's a thought - don't even participate in these promotions if it's just too painful for you to honor the idea behind them (i.e., developing good customer relations, attracting return customers, etc.). While your (paltry) sushi portion tasted good, this so-called "deal" left a distinctly sour taste in our mouths, and we won't ever be back because of that. read more
